i haven’t found a SUPER good way to cope yet, to be honest, but i’ve got some tips that may or may not be useful. i think they’re probably pretty obvious though so i may be preaching to the choir.

my best advice (which i’ve failed to follow, and am currently working on getting back on track of, haha) is to try to limit soda, sugar and fatty foods. obviously. that’s what everyone says, blah blah blah. if you wanna eat, eat some veggies or a handful of almonds, that way you won’t feel as guilty for snacking. sunflower seeds are great too, and help with oral fixation! the hand-to-mouth routine is very similar to smoking.

my FAVORITE remedy for the oral fixation though is cinnamon flavored toothpicks. i ordered a case of 600 off of amazon and they’ve helped a ton. it comes with a plastic case you can carry around in your pocket too! be careful though, the brand i linked has very strong flavoring and can burn your lips. i honestly kinda like it, haha. you can just pop one in your mouth and they last hours, i bite mine (i know kinda gross) and keep one on me if i’m around smokers especially.

it’s also really good to pick up a new hobby or start working out more to help your lungs get back to their original shape (without straining them, of course) having your time taken up with activities makes it much harder to eat all day and working out obviously helps burn off the calories of the things you do eat!

i hope some of these help, i’m sure you could find resources online that could tell you more, this is just my personal experience :)

I really like the Green Leaf Organic Pouches. They have a nice bite to them, not quite like the real thing (nothing is) but I enjoy them.

https://www.amazon.com/Green-Leaf-Organic-Pouches-whitening/dp/B07149BB56

You probably already know this but the first 3 days are going to be tough as you withdraw from the nicotine. I don't know how much you currently dip but you're likely going to be irritable so maybe avoid social gatherings with people that aren't in the circle of trust. I've quit a couple times and found that having my last dip in the evening and then heading right to the gym to sweat as much as possible was helpful, I also hit up the sauna after I'm done. You'll probably get night sweats, it will be tough to sleep, but if you manage to tire yourself out enough the first night and sleep through the first 8 hours or so of your quit it's a nice head start. During those first 3 days I try to remind myself that the feeling is only temporary and I will undoubtedly feel better in 72 hours (easier said than done). Walks helps, going on runs help more. You'll get a strange burst of energy from the withdrawal, almost like you're high on drugs, use that burst of energy to do something physically challenging.

It's worth it. Your teeth, throat, tongue, heart, wallet and fiance with thank you for it and once you're on the other side of the withdrawals it's a feeling of freedom you haven't experienced in quite some time, I imagine. This is clearly anecdotal but it's worked for me in the past. Good luck, you got this!

u/Burning_Faith · 3 pointsr/trees

Yeah I have the Pax 2 and I love it, I use it more than any piece I have. When I first got it it was alright, was a little hard to draw from, but after purchasing this vented lid for more airflow and using this grinder to grind my herb very finely, it hits so smoothly and amazingly; like smoking out of a fine cigar.

Now in terms of getting a bigger one worth the money, that's completely based off your preferences. Are you going to be using it more at home or will you be traveling around with it? Do you want something flashy or something discrete? I got the Pax 2 because it has a 10 year warranty if ANYTHING happens to it (besides losing it), it's discrete looking, compact, battery life is good, easy to take anywhere. I also got this case for it which allows me to store my weed as well and just makes smoking on the go SOOOO convenient. I personally haven't had the opportunity to try other vapes so I can only really tell you about mine. Through what I've heard, you're going to get the same high from other vaporizers, but the differences come in the forms of battery life, draw, vapor production, taste, and amount of herb you use. There's dozens upon dozens of vapes to choose from but to get the ball rolling for you check out more about the Pax, Magic Flight Launch Box, The Crafty, Boundless CF and CFX, and the DaVinchi IQ and Ascent. There's bound to be something for you!

I would DEFINITELY recommend switching over to vaping for many reasons; i.e. healthier, only 5% smoke, you get more cannabinoids, and you can reuse the ABV (already been vaped) weed for edibles.

Best of luck, Ent!

u/Soviet_Russia321 · 2 pointsr/MapPorn

Not quite. Clove cigarettes are still mostly tobacco, just with a bit of clove in them, kind of like menthols with mint. The ones I'm talking about I had order on Amazon, but they are like $3/pack and have no tobacco whatsoever. The ones I have now are American Billy Green Tea Cigarettes. They do a good job of emulating look and feel of tobacco cigarettes (same white paper, filter, cardboard pack, etc), but of course the hit is a bit different. People describe it as an off-brand Marlboro Red, which I definitely get. They get mixed reviews, which I understand. They definitely don't appeal to everyone, not even every smoker

While there's still some tar and monoxide, there's 0mg of nicotine and no added arsenic or whatever else. American Billy makes black tea cigarettes, as well as menthol ones, but I have yet to try either of those. The only other ones I have tried are Nirdosh Herbal Cigarettes from India, which are a blend of, like, basil, cloves, tea, etc. They are alright but the feel is all off. They don't look or feel like regular cigarettes, nor come in a regular container so part of the ritual is killed for me if that makes sense.

That's my little expose on them. I recommend trying them out if you think it might help, or if you're a social smoker not trying to become PMI's cash cow for the next 40 years.

It's interesting, because these things came along a while before e-cigarettes and were the OG "smoking alternative". Some old articles from 2005 or 2006 mention them in conjunction with vaping. Who would've thought vapid would take off like it did.

u/metalslug53 · 4 pointsr/vaporents

Light usage until you can purchase and receive a set of BudKups. Or, if not light usage, thorough cleaning until they arrive.

They are a literal game-changer for the Pax3. They make cleaning so much easier and they last a good, long time. It's also super convenient to have yourself a set because you can preload the Kups and just pop in a new one when it's time to puff.

I'd also highly suggest an airtight carrying case to seal off the smell of the Pax3. The one I use is this one here. It does a stellar job at locking in the odor and even has a top piece that can hold your bud. I keep mine at my desk and you'd never know the wiser.

With the Kups, I clean my unit about once a week. Just use some isopropyl alcohol and scrub the chamber and the passageway for the air with the brush that comes with the Pax. Simple.

Download the app. It allows you some very in-depth temperature control, as well as a handful of pre-programmed settings for certain situations. When I'm out and about, I prefer the Stealth setting as it does a decent job at heating the herb in a way that minimizes the odor put off.

Lastly, get a jar and save all of the vaped bud you get. AVB (already vaped bud) can be used again because it still contains THC. Roast your bud until you notice a burnt popcorn-y flavor, then empty it into the jar. Later, it can be boiled in a fatty oil or butter and used to bake edibles with, or the AVB can simply be eaten for an additional high! I prefer toast with peanut butter, sprinkled with AVB, then covered in syrup. About 2-3 grams and an hour later, I'm flying high, my friend.

I hope you enjoy your PAX! :D

u/Aculanub · 2 pointsr/Wetshaving

Do whatever works for you. For me, I tried vaping and it worked ok but I always ended up going back to cigarettes. I did that for years.

I had to break the oral fixation and going out to to smoke.

These mini lozenges were a life saver.

It helped me break the habit. I'd went through a ton of them. There would be so much nicotine I'd get nauseous and spit em out. I started using one whenever I had a craving and eventually moved to a tentative schedule.

I honestly planned on using them forever. One day, a few months down the road I just stopped to see how it went. Im over 2.5 years smoke free.

I recommend them to everyone. They might not be for you but they could help a little. If you do buy some, get the mini ones. The large ones are awful.

Good luck! You can do it!

u/MichaelStewart · 2 pointsr/mobilerepair

I don't own this yet, but I will soon enough to replace my existing multiscrewdriver. I had been looking for a leatherman with a pentalobe screw, but I couldn't find one. I looked top to bottom, this is the best thing I can find to keep clipped on the inside of my right pocket for general computer/mobile device repair.

iOpener. I don't have this exact product, but something close enough to it. Recently used it at my new job to open up an iPad 3 cracked digi, easiest and quickest way I've ever opened an iPad, didn't nick the WiFi cable or anything. Way better than the heatgun and spudger I was using at my last job, way less of a mess to clean up too.

Shame on me, but one of these in the middle or towards the end of the day keeps me motivated.

Buy the vented lid with built in pusher and new screen. This improves the experience immensely. There is a rod you can buy from this site but I rarely use it. Every time you turn off the pax, make sure you take another pull. You should also keep the pax straight up and down when still hit. I rarely need to clean mine by doing this. Use the pusher fully extended with about half a chamber filled. Grind your weed as fine as you can. Flip your grinder upside down for a dinner grind.

I also suggest this case to help with smell. The main smell is from abv.

I would LOVE anything that helped me quit smoking! Hard to believe but I can't do the gum because of my teeth and the patches / lozenges are too much for Me with how they make me feel. I tried for a prescription to help and was told not to use an Rx due to my current meds. This is on my wish list and REALLY want to quit!

Even if you don't get to me...I just want to say this is a great thing you are doing!

Depends on what the test is for. Some are mandatory no-smoking requirements. Some are just for insurance purposes. You'll have to check with the hiring manager to see what the deal is and why they would even test for that in the first place. Maybe ask under the disguise of saying you were in the process of quiting, if need be.

You can get them from smoke shops. Or online. And no, you warm them up some place near by the test location like 7-11. They come with those hand warmer things that you squeeze and last for a few hours. Rubber band them to the bottle and it'll keep it warm enough until the test usually. They normally have a stick on thermometer on the bottle. So if it's too hot, just let it cool down before you pour it into the cup and turn it in.

Alternatively, you could try to test yourself before hand. With something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Nicotine-Tobacco-Test-Kit-Pack/dp/B004KAQ3RA Maybe from CVS or something.

u/lavonne123 · 1 pointr/offmychest

I’m so glad someone said this. I was a pack a day smoker for 10 years. I originally quit cold turkey with the help of the natural herbal supplement called nicquit it helped a ton with withdrawals. Before when I had tried to quit I felt like I was gonna murder someone. The mood swings were too much. I pity any bystander. But I quit!

In the end I realized I just enjoyed smoking. I thought about it all and time even after the cravings were gone. It’s therapeutic and relaxing for me. So i started vaping because it’s the safer alternative to smoking. I enjoy it a lot! And I’m not going to stop until I feel like it. I’m at a low dose of 6 mg nic. And plan on staying there.

The biggest perk is it saves my boyfriend and i about $400-$500 a month by switching to the vape.

u/frotc914 · -14 pointsr/AskReddit

I get that but I never really understood how people without access to lots of money engage in what can only be considered the luxury of smoking. If you only smoke 1 pack a day, we are talking about $60-$70 per week. I spend less on my internet per MONTH and that's something that's actually important and isn't giving me cancer. I mean, shit, buy a fucking e-cigarette.

EDIT: Wow downvoted into oblivion for pointing out that smokers waste tons of money. Whatever - I'm gonna go enjoy my extra $3k per year I DIDN'T waste while not having cancer, not being a terrible parent, and not draining our medical system of necessary resources that would be better spent on someone who didn't totally suck.

EDIT: Apparently my comment was considered off-topic. For those who give a shit, You can get 96 pieces of nicotine gum from amazon for $20 which is equivalent to 348 cigarettes. At $9 for 20 cigs, cigarettes cost 1000% the price of nicotine gum. I would expect that pregnant women who smoke would do a little research that took me all of 30 seconds.

u/lulelillie · 7 pointsr/offmychest

I haven't had a cigarette in more than a year. I quit about three years ago but relapsed due to stress. That's when I started using vaporizers instead which eventually helped me kick the habit entirely. There are studies that certain vape juices (and cheap electronic cigarettes) are bad for you, so I avoid those; however, even if they may potentially be toxic, my lungs feel a lot happier and my asthma has cleared up quite a bit. My mother and her husband were able to quit smoking cigarettes with vapes, too. :) My mom had been a smoker since she was 16 and is now approaching her mid-50s.

Also, don't fret too much about relapsing. It happens to the best of us and, even though I am clean, I still have urges at times. Might be best to stop socializing and drinking for the time being since it seems you may be a social smoker. If you were alone, then perhaps the alcohol clouded your self-control.

Edit: Before I found out about vapes, I only bought American Spirits (100% tobacco cigarettes). They helped me ween off of the additional chemicals added to normal cigarettes to keep you hooked. Then I switched over to green tea cigarettes (these demons: https://www.amazon.com/AMERICAN-BILLY-Cigarettes-Cigarette-Alternatives/dp/B01D5TBAPQ/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1519845720&sr=8-1&keywords=green+tea+cigarettes&dpID=41h%252BBfhMZAL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch ). The green tea cigarettes made me dread smoking. They do not taste great at all but they can satiate a craving for a traditional cigarette. Eventually, I associated smoking (since I only allowed myself to smoke these things) with "yucky." Haha. I quit entirely. This worked for a year until trauma brought the habit back and I immediately jumped to vaping.

tl;dr Maybe try switching to vapes?

Get the Cotinine test strips off amazon. Pay the $12 or so bucks and get 20-30. I believe the levels they are looking for is less than 200ng/dL in your system. Test everyday in the mornings.

I had to do this for an employer once. Didn’t take the job because IMO that’s just a bit too far. There are lots of cessation devices out there (patches, toothpicks, gum) that can be used even if you’ve never/don’t smoke.

If they are doing a blood test they maybe looking for a number of things. Actual nicotine, cotinine, or anabasine. Anabasine will only show up from tobacco use. Also depends on if they do

Qualitative testing: It simply looks for whether or not you have nicotine in your body.

or

Quantitative testing: It actually measures the concentration of nicotine or cotinine in your body. It gives more information about your tobacco habits. It can tell whether you’re an active smoker or if you’ve recently quit. If you’re not a tobacco user, it can tell if you’ve been breathing in a lot of tobacco smoke or not.

If you use a mentholated juice it’s can be detected even longer.

Cotinine is also fat soluble so if your a bigger person it can take longer.

I’m a bigger guy and it took 19 days for my tests to show up 100% negative no question urine wise. I was using 3mg and also using 35mg nic salts occasionally.

So what does all this mean? I would stop at least 30 days before your test. Drink a lot of water and exercise any time you can. Use 0mg nic and avoid any stressful situations if at all possible. The first 7 days were ok for me but after that I got hella irritable at the smallest things.

This is a good read although semi inaccurate.

https://www.webmd.com/smoking-cessation/taking-nicotine-test

These are the strips I used. Don’t have to use the seller but that’s what they look like. Don’t fall for the $10 five packs either.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004KAQ3RA/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1538844091&sr=8-4&keywords=cotinine+urine+test&dpPl=1&dpID=41b0Qx1yr-L&ref=plSrch

Hope all this helps. Drink lots of water the day of the test and if all else fails... tell them you boss smokes and you have to be around him/office or in a space where your exposed to second hand smoke a lot.

u/robroy207 · 1 pointr/PAXvapor

Yes, I exclusively use the sandwich pusher. Provides enhanced vape and what feels like an even heat distribution -bud gets used up well and increases the amount of draws. I average ~25 per with it.

HEre's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C7RLWF4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also suggest the carrying case. Yoda travels well with minimal oder. Link for that, too: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KQOAJKK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s04?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the Case is a bit pricey but it has a top compartment that can hold ~5 grams bud and it's a solid construction, meaning it will last me quite a while so it's worth the extra bucks.

u/fartliberator · 1 pointr/vaporents

It's an alternate cartridge with a lid. Kinda small actually, they recommend dabs the size of a lentil and frankly I barely use mine. But the fact that I can is the only reason I didn't go with the Da Vinci IQ.

Incidentally, there's a pretty cool portable case on amazon I picked up that's proven to be indispensable.

Comes in 1 / 2mg which is good for non-smokers. Made by Novartis (Pharma company) in Switzerland. Extremely high quality. It's what I use.

u/francois_heer34 · 11 pointsr/Cigarettes

yeah like said above it isn't a real brand, often in movies made nowadays actors will smoke herbal cigs that dont have tobacco in them (you can get these kinds of "cigs" on amazon). I've actually tried some of these cigarettes before out of morbid curiosity and honestly they are probably the biggest memes you can smoke if you ask me.

Sure, it's essentially cold turkey in a way, but it beats eating a bag of chips all the time when I need something to fidgit with and put in my mouth when I'm antsy.

They aren't for everyone, but they help. Still smoke flower, occasionally.

Edit: that URL is being difficult, but I'm sure y'all can still read it just fine

Invest in a Pax 3 they are vaporizers for flower. Btw they are hard to smell when smoking to be honest, oh and you should also invest into a skunk case with it. The skunk case can not only carry the pax put also let you put a little bit of bud in a small container for later use and it doesn't smell at all. Here is both links to get them.

I mostly use the little bumper caps for my Pax3 but I have my Skunk Case ready for short trips and such.

Tried snagging some pax caps?

I've heard good things about them, also quite cheap. Skunk Case also has some more expensive smell proof water proof etc. options.

or the screw-top model. I got that one and like it.

I'm wondering this myself.

I've seen this in some smoke shops and wondered if it'll work well for rolling.

Smoke buddy, Ozium, Mason Jars. I have a smell proof container that I keep my Pax in to minimize the smell, and my Dynavap has a little tube thing that came with it that is smell proof. I use my SB religiously when I vape flower. My carts don't really smell, so it might be worth it to consider picking up a little 510 battery or a Pax Era, Stiizy type device if you have those options available.

I bought a skunkcase for my 2, and I'm assuming here that the dimensions are the same for the 3.

It works well enough. It's like setting off a bomb though opening it.

Get some herbal cigarettes. Used by smokers to quit and also it's what actors smoke on TV and in movies since there are laws against smoking and drinking on screen.

I just grabbed this guy:

Pax 2 / Pax 3 protective case SMELL PROOF with removable stash container; pocket carry with screw top (black) by Skunkcase

Haven't really tested it out yet, was planning to do that with Christmas travels. It apparently will not fit with the larger mouthpiece though.

Not sure how you would get this test done for a 2 and 3 year old, but there is this kit for testing for nicotine.

if you have an ac compressor, I heard you can blow them out. But if money is reall tight which is something most of us here deal with, ill let you in on a little thing that got me through the rough time.

this link is the hoses i bought 2 years ago, and they just reached the point of no return a month ago. Its $10 and you get 2 washable hoses. plus free shipping, you cant beat that price for a lot of 2.

Amazon bro. Skunk case makes it.

Oh and one more thing. I don't recommend getting a hinged lid case for the PAX. I had one of those and it broke multiple times (had it replaced by the manufacturer). Get the ones that screw on and off. Much more durable.

This is the case I am currently using: https://www.amazon.com/PROTECTIVE-interchangeable-CONTAINERS-Accessories-Skunkcase/dp/B01KQOAJKK/ref=pd_cp_107_1?pd_rd_w=08hzr&pf_rd_p=ef4dc990-a9ca-4945-ae0b-f8d549198ed6&pf_rd_r=DZ09R1SW702GSBCSRXEP&pd_rd_r=d2e27b61-9c77-40e3-9426-4e323e02cb18&pd_rd_wg=eKsge&pd_rd_i=B01KQOAJKK&psc=1&refRID=DZ09R1SW702GSBCSRXEP
