First off welcome to the game!!! Goalie/D-Pole Here, to answer your questions...

#1Chocking up is shifting your grip high up the stick for more control. The farther down your hands are the more power you have, but the less control. So when people tell you to choke up, it's so that you have more control. Try Bringing your top hand all the way to the plastic to start out. (as time goes on and you get better you will be able to choke up less and less.

#2 Best thing you can do is invest in a "ladder" (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00COEI4G2/ref=twister_B07BMBW72J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) work it daily with drills you can find online. Other may be able to be more exact than me.

#3 Because the stick is so long every action you make is amplified tenfold. This does make wallball hard, but after a bit, it won't be. Try this routine (20 righty, 20 lefty, 20 throw right catch left, 20 throw left catch right + fun ones like behind the back and such.

#4 Lacrosse defense has 3 main components, The slide package, The goalie and individual plays.

  • A slide package differs from team to team but in general, if a point guard beat their man in basketball someone would run to pick him up before he could shoot. It's the exact same with lacrosse. The job of the "hot" guy is to pick up an offensive player that has beaten their man, in this process he has to leave his man. The "two" guy runs and covers the man the Hot guy had left. As the ball moves around the goal these jobs will change from person to person.
  • The Goalie (if he's good) will be directing who is "hot" or "two" Your job is to protect your goalie, Force the other team to shoot far and inaccurately. LISTEN TO YOUR GOALIE, he calls when to slide and will point out open people.
  • Last is individual plays, when someone dodges you cant let them get by you. Basketball is a huge asset here. Use the same stance and push him away. Only check his stick when you are sure you can take the ball away. Good Luck.

    #5 Main Rules: No pushing in the back, No Fat body checks hitting them meters into the air. Play the ball and don't attack player individually unless your opening up space for one of your other teammates to get the ball.

    #6 Everyone starts somewhere, work hard, run hard, and listen to your coach and you will do fine.

    #7 Being a big guy is a massive asset you can push other guys out of the way easily and no one will want to dodge on you.

Also not included are the kegel balls I bought on Amazon but I didn't know if you were counting pelvic floor workout equipment lol. Wow I think my house is actually a gym lmao. I'm actually a personal trainer lol.

Get a workout ladder. You probably don't have a pile of step-over bags so this ladder can be a good substitute. Just do things like step-ins, shuffles etc. In regard to hand work, find a tree or pole or something you can use to practice "Quick hands". From your ready position just work on shooting your hands like you're engaging a block. The progress to a shoot and rip, shoot and swim etc. If you do this on a regular basis you'll be in good shape when pre-season comes around.
If you want more specific drills PM me or youtube is always an excellent resource.

Main thing is keeping your cardio in top shape. Run man-makers. You'll look that much better than the other kids who sat around all off-season.

I've been looking for these too. The ones on Alibaba only have 4 lights. I found these on Amazon for 5 lights and the same price, but the reviews are not great: https://www.amazon.com/Reflexx-RLT-Reaction-Light-Training/dp/B07CJQZRL3/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

What all the knock offs are missing though is the app to record data and track improvement. Looks like you can press buttons on the lights or on the remote to change the reaction times, but there is no way to save or analyze any data.

The cheapest alternative I've found that lets you record data is Blaze Pods: https://www.blazepod.com/collections/all Still more expensive than I want to spend right now. Last year they did 20% off on Black Friday, so I'm waiting for that again to make up my mind.

Not sure what the availability is like at your age, but maybe join some skills camps? A nutritionist and trainer both sound like good ideas. I think paying a person is a waste of money if you can afford a ball return net(Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/iC3-by-Airborne-Athletics-Basketball/dp/B00AXM2PJO). This way you can shoot around whenever you have spare time, instead of relying on the schedule of someone else. I wouldn't go crazy with the skill accessories if I were you tbh, just get shots up in your free time and practice whenever you can.

Learn to hacky sack - it sounds dumb, but you get a better sense of foot-eye coordination.

You can just dribble a soccer ball around instead of actually joining the team. I started working at an adidas store with a bunch of soccer nuts and we'd go kick the ball around all the time. Less formal than joining a team, and more fun for a guy like me who is more into hockey.

Also, just work on your footwork in general. Do quick step exercises using an agility ladder; if your feet are agile, they will learn to handle pucks more quickly.

For speed and agility, take a look at some speed latter workouts. Our 7s coach made us do these twice a week and even that helped me out a ton!

This is an example of the hardware but you can do it using the seams of dorm tiles, sidewalks, or chalk on asphalt.

Here are some simple drills to start, but google and youtube have tons more!
