Ok. You are definitely the target audience of this post. (sorry for the slow response I got busy) You look fun, interesting and obviously cool because you play bass, but your style is holding you back.

Your hair cut is not great, buts its tough to work with since you have widows peak. I don't think the shaved head thing would work with you but you could try a really close buzz. I really think the best option is to keep the hair cut you have and rock hats when going out, I like the newsies hat thing you have going in one of the photos. You look best in that picture. Add in castro hats & fedora's http://photo-dict.faqs.org/phrase/7131/fedora-hat.html & those straw fedora's that are popular http://s3.amazonaws.com/hitfix/photos/42596/JasonMraz_event_main.jpg. You could try rocking a knit, but you may look like a douchebag... handsome, but douchey... An example of a nice one: http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/carhartt-mens-knit-hat-with-visor-black-one-sizejust a warning. Maybe the key is not to look like this http://laweekly.blogs.com/style_council/images/colin_1.jpg
I would avoid: top hats, cowboy hats & other costumey type hats.

Ok that said... the wire frame glasses also scream geek on you. It really depends on the person... some people can pull them off with an older or professorly appeal, but it looks nerdy on you. Maybe try plastic frame glasses or contacts... might I suggest something simple and utilitarian like http://www.amazon.com/Rockers-Deluxe-Reading-Glasses-Classic/dp/B003JJIOYS/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&qid=1314723107&sr=8-23. The look you want to go for is the one justin timberlake is rocking here: http://www.justeyewear.com/blog/fashion/what-do-jay-z-justin-timberlake-and-sarah-palin-have-in-common/.
You have a face that is somewhere between oblong & round, so small frames will make your face appear longer (i.e. not good), choose a frame that is bold, a bit bigger than the ones you have now. But not super huge because while they are in fasion now that trend will fade in a year or two and then you will be stuck with them. Now I can just hear you... glasses are expensive!!! I got cute square frames with pink accents and that cost me 170 and I have insurance.. might I suggest www.zennioptical.com to get a pair of glasses for 10-30 bucks to try out the new look cheaply? I cannot vouche for the quality of them long term, but I bought some retro wing eyed glasses there and they are not half bad. (you have to figure out the numbers on your perscription right so you don't get something that will damage your eyes or give you a headache, but even if you just buy a pair with the wrong script for ten bucks to see...)

Also as with other posts... I would pick a defining sense of style and rock it - tell people who you are at a glance. Are there any particular ways of dressing that other people wear that you like? Or do you want to represent your interests... like a varying array of band t's paired with cool sneakers and nice jeans could be fine to emphasize you are a musician. Get back to me. Message me with more information and I will provide suggestions more tailored to you personally.

Question: are you from the midwest in the US?

A couple more tips: You have very lovely blue eyes, DO wear blue shirts. Your jeans are out dated. Get some that are bootcut or relaxed fit, get darker jeans. If your t shirts are really faded it looks sloppy, buy a new one, unless its your favorite t shirt ever or looks really good on you. This doesn't have to cost alot you can get a new looking shirt at any local thrift store for a couple bucks. Also try not to buy things that are super baggy, you are a thin guy and that it is just diminuitive of your stature, whereas if you wear something that fits a bit better you wear your size well. I am not suggesting muscle t shirts, just saying the red shirt where you are playing guitar is too baggy. The first picture... I think those shirts with the little buttons at the top are out dated (the blue shirt you are wearing under your fleece jacket). I would just get simple long sleeve shirts. Have you thought about a sleek sweater... I bet you would look really good in a nice blue sweater with your glasses (no hat with this look... ) like....http://www.amazon.com/Hugo-Boss-Barnabas-Crispy-Sweater/dp/B004RLUQX4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1314724313&sr=8-4 - probably a round neck would be better on you than a v neck, but you get the idea.

Cheers, I hope that helps. Oh and if you feel so inclined, I would LOVE if you could send me a couple picks if/or/when you try out some of my suggestions.

So if you are looking to update your wardrobe with something that compliments your Graphic Tees, I would suggest looking into layering techniques. I have a couple of outfits which I wear that include Graphic Tees and I will take a couple pictures tonight and show you if you would like.

Layering could be done with many things, but it you want to take it to the next level, mixing casual edginess and mature edginess, then invest in a Cotton, unstructured blazer. I have this Grey one which is absolutely amazing, and you can wear them with just about anything.

There are also many zip up sweaters that you can wear, but if you are looking to mature your wardrobe, I cannot recommend a chunky-knit cardigan more. Love these things, and they are also very versatile. I actually keep one at work in case it gets cold. I got if from J Crew last year. Something like this would work well: https://www.ebay.com/itm/JCREW-MARLED-COTTON-MOCK-NECK-CARDIGAN-SIZE-SMALL/372444582682?hash=item56b76d531a:g:sLkAAOSww6ZbpHkv

If that doesn't fit the style that you are going for, then zip up sweaters would work well too. In general, non-hooded sweaters are more mature than hoodies. I'd go for them if you have the opportunity. I recommend Abercrombie and Fitch, as they make super comfy sweaters and overall have a more fitted structure.

For example, these: https://www.nordstromrack.com/shop/product/2292748/xray-knit-bomber-sweater?color=BLACK

https://www.amazon.com/H2H-Full-zip-Cardigan-Patterned-KMOCAL032/dp/B00HVYA4JU/ref=lp_1045658_1_33?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1537631063&sr=1-33&nodeID=1045658&psd=1

Of course, color varies. I think that last one is red. It's the style that counts. But yeah.

Last thing that I will say is that chinos are always going to be more mature than jeans, but I really think that Chinos are going to push your style a little too much into the professional/preppy direction. So stick with Jeans (Slim Fit, rarely skinny) in darker colors. Again, I will take a few pics of the layering of Graphic Tees tonight for you is you would like those examples.

Rock Maki would be easier, due to the more basic nature of the costume. Most of the items could be found via thrift stores or local places. A suggestion for the pattern on the arm

It's very cheap, easy and fun! Particularly for this design, where you can just type up the words and print them at the appropriate size. For the weathered look, using a sponge will make it look more grunge-y.

Red skinny jeans will probably be a little easier to find that red plaid punk pants, but worth looking around. Other than that, you'll need a long pink t-shirt, button down white shirt, a plain blue neck tie, and a black cardigan. (Like this one, maybe?) Or similar. Buy a size up if you want the baggy look, but a sleek look will look cool too!

Absolutely invest in a wig, it'll make your cosplay a lot more fun and polished. A lot can be found on ebay already styled, make sure to read the user reviews. And if you have a big head, be extra careful and read reviews. (I have a big head and I tend to get my wigs from Arda or Epic Cosplay just to avoid the difficulty. :P But it isn't necessary to invest that much)

Consider your skin tone when picking a red wig too. (Here's a wikihow with the basics of determining your skin tone)[http://www.wikihow.com/Determine-Skin-Tone]. At least for me, it always feel a little safer to choose a darker/maroon-ier red rather than a bright tomato red. It photographs nicer and looks a little more natural. I usually also wear foundation or at least concealer when wearing any red/pink wig, because at least for my skin it emphasizes any blemishes. (Am girl, tho. If you aren't comfortable wearing concealer, it's all good! Do what makes you feel most comfortable. Cosplay is there to have fun with!)

American Eagle/Aerie: bra, leggings, and my annual jeans + flannel purchase

Nike/Converse: new gym shoes. Another annual purchase since I'm extremely indecisive, so having a handful of options rather than what feels like unlimited makes my life easier.

Gap/Old Navy: Wasn't planning on making a purchase, but after reading the recent undie thread, decided to try some Gap underwear. Cheekies, hipster, and lace styles to try so I can hopefully stock up on after holiday sales if I find one I really like. Bonus Old Navy button down I've been eyeing.

My mom and I also hit some local boutiques where she picked out two sweaters for me to get for Hanukkah (30% off the entire store) that I don't have photos for. We also found my boyfriend a really nice Ralph Lauren pullover for $50 at TJ Maxx.

Currently waiting to decide if I want to get this bracelet and this necklace from Francesca's.

Overall, not a bad Black Friday for doing the majority of it online and finding some college to post-grad friendly pieces. Best purchase all weekend though was the flight my boyfriend and I split at a brewery for Local Business Saturday :)

Okay. So. I've actually been looking into this today, and I'm not sure ive figured out exactly what brand it is, but I think ive at least got a few pretty good options.

Sweater:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3VK210/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LhlgybE564JQG
http://m.jcpenney.com/st-johns-bay-long-sleeve-solid-crewneck-sweater/prod.jump?ppId=pp5007980046&Ntt=&Ns=featured&N=&page=1

I think that the jc penny one might actually be the sweater he wears. But who knows.

As far as the jeans, I have no idea how you'd figure out exactly what brand they are. They're so generic and he's been wearing them for the past 8 years, honestly.

And bonus, Amazon recommended me the dinosaur shirt he's wearing in his two most recent Instagram posts, so enjoy:
Ragstock Men's Casual Button-Up Icon-Printed Woven Shirts https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KP2MOZQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_yllgybHZD2AX8

Hope you still care about finding it out, lol.

EDIT: fixed the jc penny link

u/mightypanic · 2 pointsr/HelpMeFind

It's hard to find the exact same item, but I can give you an idea of what to look for so that you can explore your options.

The item can be described as something along the lines of "shawl-collar crossed cable-knit cardigan sweater," in this case bluish-grey. Here's a close but sold out one from Ralph Lauren, and another link via eBay and another via Asos.

Here's an off-white one by Tasso Elba via Macy's.

Here's a dark blue J.Crew cardigan without the thick knit pattern but with a nice texture.

Here's another currently unavailable cable-knit cardigan, via Asos.

Here's a nice cable knit inspiration album.

Here's one thru Amazon.

Here's a $60 dollar navy blue option from Old Navy.

And here's a $130 "ribbed" charcoal one from Banana Republic.

Some keywords to play around with:

  • cardigan
  • sweater
  • Aran cardigan/sweater

  • cable-knit
  • cross(ed) cable-knit
  • thick cable-knit
  • chunky cable-knit

  • shawl collar
  • cowl

    Good luck! Hope this helped.

EDIT: Sorry, AutoMod made me resubmit this comment after editing some URLs, so now I think some of the links may be broken.

    EDIT 2: Added a keyword.

I got my tacky sweater that I ordered in! I LOVE IT. This is the one I got, and I seriously recommend the brand if you are looking for one. It is super comfy, and seems to be good quality as well. I honestly would buy more and wear them on a regular basis, if I wouldn't embarrass my husband by doing so!

u/RanTheRedCedar · 1 pointr/OkCupid

K well I can ask whenever the hell I get an invite.

It's more of a no gifts but bring food/drinks and everyone chats it up or plays a card game like Exploding Kittens or CAH so I'll be like "ya know, she's really good at food..."

oh god which should I get:

Anyone know a good Full Zip sweater like this one? I'd prefer cashmere or a nice wool, mainly value for the price though, which is what some reviews say this Amazon one is lacking. Is it possible to find something like this for under $100-$125?

u/Kavinsky117 · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

I'm trying to buy a colorful, striped sweater, perhaps also with patterns for my dad. It's a particular taste he likes. The only, "spending" $ I have is an Amazon gift card. Something that [Looks like this] (https://www.amazon.com/Invisible-World-Sweater-Crewneck-Pullover/dp/B00MWC9YB0/ref=sr_1_179?ie=UTF8&qid=1539877381&sr=8-179&keywords=mens+knit+striped+sweater)

I can't find a whole lot of colorful, striped sweaters by searching keywords like, "striped, cashmere, knit, wool, patterned." Are there any other amazon sweaters similar to this for even ~100 instead of $190?

Just as a fair note, I wouldn't call it high quality. But I definitely love it myself, as I like the style.

u/JacElli · 5 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Ah sorry, it was Match brand. It's a decent price and the quality is good. It's not a traditional cardigan but I like the style and it is really comfortable. I've only recently gotten into MFA but started building a wardrobe around a year or so ago.

On mobile, sorry if the link is wonky.

I like this wool turtleneck, Looking for something similar in L or XL

Similar to color pictured or Black (yes I like the textured pattern)

Looking for something more affordable under $50 or $100 would be ideal so I can get 2 of them.
