Nice thorough review. +1.

I have the similar AK rig, and I have to admit, I wish I had gone with a 100% MOLLE rig.

I did a chunk of research the other day, and I think personally I'd have to go with a waist-loaded option. For whatever reason, having straps on my shoulders makes it annoying to really couch a blaster in my shoulder, on top of the straps -- don't ask me why, it's just always... Not quite right.

That said, if I had to rebuy my rig, I'd spend a bit more and get this setup:

  • Condor Gen 2 BattleBelt + Condor Duty Belt
  • Condor Dual AK Mag Pouch or Tri AK Mag Pouch
  • Single-Point Sling

I'd probably go with a double pouch on each side, carrying 8x18 + 2 or 3 in/on the blaster + sidearm + holdouts. More than enough.

Everything's on the waist, out of the way so you keep utmost in upper-body maneuverability. Everything's also off to the side, so you can go prone/flat against walls pretty easily on either side, whereas the chest rig made bellying up to a wall less than ideal.

If I wanted to go for extras, I'd want to look at a Mag Recovery Dump Pouch for one side.

For those that want the shoulder support, you can get an H-Harness

Now for the really crazy research that I did.

I considered adding hydration of some kind, which gets a bit tricky for waist packs. The slickest hydration pack I could probably find was the Condor Hydro Harness which actually fits nicely with all of their gear -- but you need to have a compatible chest rig to use it properly... Which means things on the shoulders. Even more cobbled together solutions, such as an H-Harness + Hydration carrier has the same problem, although less so.

Fortunately, there are solutions! MOLLE-compatible 'side' hydration pouches, such as the Source Kangaroo 1L or the Blackout! Side Hydration Pouch would take the water off the back. 1L is a lot less, as most backpacks are 2, 2.5, or even more in capacity. The downside of any hydration pouch is twofold in this case:

  1. You don't have any good way to keep the water line near your mouth, since you lack shoulder straps.

  2. Cleaning bladders is a pain!

That said, Source does make some pretty awesome extras, both of which seem really useful the former of which may even work to deal with problem #1 in this case.

There's another alternative to this, too, though! I personally find my Nerf habit totally niche, so I always feel a bit guilty getting something JUST for Nerf... But Nalgene bottles or the like are really useful otherwise, so that's always a nice option.

  • Getting just a MOLLE Nalgene carrier or generic bottle pouch would work fine. Solid Nalgene bottles have pros and cons though. Pros: it's rigid and strong, which means it takes impact and wear very well. Cons: It's hard, so it doesn't collapse, and it's generally more bulky.
  • You can get soft Nalgene Canteens in 32oz or 48oz and put them in some sort of suitable pouch. I imagine the 32oz canteen would fit rather well in the standard bottle carrier, although I don't know how well the bottle carrier collapses, making the presence of a canteen possibly moot.
  • Turn any Nalgene (or smaller water bottles, if the usual 32oz is too large) into a hydration carrier with a straw adapter. Popular ones include SmarTube or Source SNEP, both of which include a Nalgene-compatible 63mm wide-mouth adapter, and the Condor Nalgene carrier has a straw pass-thru in the top. Obviously, the downside to this is that the thing you're drinking from generally needs to be upright to ensure constant water supply. Not that big of an issue, but it does limit canteen pouch options to ones that will hold the thing upright.

I personally think I'd lean towards the straw option, as it's easier to clean and more universally usable, although I'm not entirely certain I'd like the bulk of a Nalgene bottle on my waist and the slosh factor, both of which are lesser issues when dealing with a bladder. Maybe I'll try and find a suitable pouch for a 32oz Nalgene canteen and get the SNEP...

    EDIT: Malformed link.

I recently bought a Maxpedition Mini. It is has a noticeable bulge, fitting tightly into a typical jeans pocket, and comfortably in a cargo pants pocket. It fits a decent amount of stuff, like pens, mini tools, a small first aid baggy, some computer cables, flashlight, etc. It could fit more but I like keeping it relatively streamline.

I think its the best size for a pocket pouch. Any smaller and it's less useful than a pocket, any bigger and your needs may be better satisfied with a backpack. I don't mind the excessive bulge in my jeans, nor occasionally carrying it in my hand, but that's just my preference.

I should also add the material quality is remarkably good, and very ruggedly built, I was quite surprised. It feels like a mini heavy duty Northface backpack.

u/mwaldron · 1 pointr/Goruck

I don't care as much about the pockets inside, so I don't have much to help with on that, but as far as outside goes...

5.11 Has a nice radio pouch that fits perfectly and works really well.

Maxpedition AGR has a pretty closely matching water bottle holder, but I feel it's 1 molle too large for the GR1.

Vanquest has an awesome skeletonized bottle holder that fits perfectly and matches well.

u/newyearyay · 12 pointsr/Firearms

I would disagree with other users here, building your own kit will save a decent amount of money

What are you looking to put into these IFAKs? Here are some links that a 'basic' would have

4 pack of chest seals $29.19 (one in each kit)

20 count 5x9 combine pads $7.99 (two or so in each kit)

Isreali Bandage (non-amazon link as there have been many issues with amazon selling Isreali bandages and people getting knock-offs, youll want the 4in 'new manufacture' which come in a grey outer pouch, open the outer pouch and put them in the IFAK like that (they are double sealed/this will leave them sealed in a see through rip away plastic which can be used as an occlusive dressing) one in each kit.

2 Hemostatic Gauze $19.97 (open outer pack, put one 'inner' pack in each kit)

12 pack of 2in roller gauze $4.80 (one, maybe two in each kit, can be replaced with a triangular bandage instead)

12 Triangular Bandages (Cravats) $6.80 - these are multi-use, bleeding control, securing a dressing, TQ use etc. most opt not to have them but theyre a great 'multi-use' item I carry in every IFAK (one in each kit)

2 pack trauma shears $9.99 (one in each kit)

2 pack CAT tourniquets $53.98, one reason to go with amazon is the easy returns, which is a double edged sword, a lot of people will buy fake CATs for cheap, purchase real ones for $$ then 'return' the real ones with the cheap fake ones, look up lot codes when you get them if it doesnt look the part return it. Stay away from the thin elastic "pocket tourniquets" (one in each kit)

Rip away IFAK MOLLE pouch $14.99 each, depending on color. I prefer these over just a MOLLE pouch, unbuckle and use or throw to someone else without having to lug w.e. equipment the pouch is attached to - or leave off the MOLLE backing and put inside a pack loose

Personally I dont put airway in my IFAKs but do in a larger kit thats nearby - if you want links to NPAs a pretty good general size to go with would be a 26, dont forget lube or really you can just spit on them. Same with a decompression needle, not going to be in my IFAK.

More importantly than any of this stuff is training, you can do a lot more with training than you can with a 'be all end all kit'. Dont be afraid to adapt a kit to your environment, for example if you're going far away from civilization consider you might do wound packing and need more hemostatic gauze, but if you're right down the street from a hospital you probably wont want to pack a wound with a homeostatic agent but that will depend on the situation.

The purpose of an IFAK is to get you to a larger first aid kit/medical help.

(I purchase medical supplies for the EMS company I work for, Amazon prices are generally cheaper than buying from a distributor unless you're looking to build dozens of these kits and even then certain items will still be cheaper especially factoring in shipping) Any questions feel free to ask

u/JohnFest · 5 pointsr/EDC

May I humbly, but strongly, suggest something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Survival-Systems-PMP-Pocket/dp/B005DH2I7S

Not only does it keep dust/dirt/lint out of your mag, but it more importantly helps the mag stay put. I know it's very unlikely that it will work its way out of a back pocket, but there was a post literally just today about a guy's spare mag sneaking out of his pocket. Better safe than sorry. Cheers!

u/HlVNTI1JyFYsTEoirQp4 · 11 pointsr/EDC

I daily carry a GORUCK GR1. I chose this pack because of how ridiculously overbuilt it is. Prior to getting the GR1, I carried less and I generally still couldn't go more than 6 months at best without ripping or destroying my packs. I also like that it doesn't have much built in organization. I prefer to create my own organizational system rather than use the one mandated by the pack. This is the primary reason I chose this over similar high quality options such as the Tom Bihn Synapse 25.

Also, I know there is a serious lack of cool hacking tools. Unfortunately I am currently in a more defensive than offensive cybersecurity position, so I don't really carry a lot of stuff around with me like I used to when I was red team.

On the front you can see that I have a Grimloc biner in case I need to attach anything to my pack. I also have a Gonex water bottle pouch and a large water bottle. On the back of the pack I have a pouch with my EDC Zebralight on the shoulder strap for easy access while wearing the ruck.

u/must_ache · 2 pointsr/EDC

This 6x6.5x2.25 3V Gear and this 7.5x6.5x2 Condor are two I found when looking for something cheaper than the Maxpedition EDC/Fatty/Beefy, but that still included internal organization loops or pockets.

I for one decided it wasn't worth saving the money to buy the super cheap one, too many unknowns for me. I do trust Condor to make good gear though, I have two of their slings and they are well make from good quality components. I just haven't ordered because I think I might go with something bigger like a EMT bag, since I'm just going to throw it in a backpack.

u/jsamhead · 1 pointr/EDC

As far as true "pocket" organizers that you can actually fit in your pocket go, Hitch and Timber make some of the best options available.

As far as a gear organizer pouch that can go in a bag or something, my go-to are these cheap ones I found on Amazon. They've held up well to my use and they're cheap enough that it's not very expensive to buy several. I paired them with different colored Velcro cable ties to differentiate them. They're available from dozens of different sellers for a range from $7-13ish, but they're all the same product. Much cheaper than the name brand alternatives from Maxpedition and Vanquest. The cheapest I've found is here for $6.

The BEST gear organizers I've found have to be the Vanquest PPM and EDCM pouches. They have a wide variety of sizes (Slim, Husky, and Huge) and the PPM organizers are smaller and cheaper than the EDCM organizers. They're just as durable as Maxpedition but offer more organization, better use of space, and a few extra features here and there like the folded over handle.

u/MooingFish · 1 pointr/deadpool

Yes it is, and thank you! And I can pull together a list/guide if you'd like, here's the best I've got off the top of my head:

Mask

Pouches

Gloves

Belt buckle

Sword Sheathes

Bracers

Kneepads

As for the rest of it, the shirt was something I had a friend sew out of some underarmor knockoff I bought from Walmart. Gun is a cheap airsoft Desert Eagle with some paint and googly eyes, and the other two (that were sadly confiscated by con security) were M9's.
Swords are from a basic halloween shop, they were nice and had a sheathe and colored blade and were about the right size.

If you have any questions about how to make anything in particular, let me know and I'll be happy to help.

It’s one of this:

Barbarians Tactical MOLLE Pouch, Multi-Purpose Tool Holder Modular Pouch Tan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075K3JK7B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_rK0VBbA4WRYV4

Plus, two of this:

Garud Tier System https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077QSCG1Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xL0VBbH60AGQZ

And something like this (the bag should come with 4 of these but just in case) :

Maxpedition 3-Inch TacTile - Pack Of 4 (Green) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001LZ5TMM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_jQ0VBbKNMKX0S

Plus a lot of patience. Lol. I’m not at home right now but I can post pics later on how I attached the buckles to the bag. Because it’s easily removable with the clap on. 👌

u/SpicyMcHaggis666 · 1 pointr/CampingGear

Those look like the Snugpak RocketPak. I don't believe you can buy these without the pack though. You can separate them from the main pack though and use them as a separate backpack (with their Yoke system.) The bag sells for about $130. I used to have this pack and loved it. I let my brother borrow it and he never returned it. He liked it way too much. haha

You can get other bags similar to the side packs, like these, for around $20 on Amazon.

u/Agent_Ozzy · 1 pointr/batman

The thing I'm trying to do is not make it look completly like a known batsuit for all the parts, but the final part will be something simple like a Batman morphsuit over the armor. The one part I am excited for is when I can get the belt. Of course some slight bat modding may be needed, but out of all I have seen this is my pick for best utility belt http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005OYT440/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2CEJZC1341HK5&coliid=I1J0Q9CM9U8NP0

I've had people talk to me (while I was flying) about their discomfort with and suspicion of drones, but it was always in kind of broad terms, not that they specifically objected to what I was doing at the time (and they usually came away with a greater appreciation for them).

This was the first time I've had someone approach with clearly hostile intent, and I feel like I could probably have handled it better.

I can't believe how small the Mavic folds down to. I'm keeping it in my backpack in one of these.

u/YellowAndDangerous42 · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

Great idea. Also a drip tip cover to keep lint and dog hairs and curious insects from going into the suck-hole :-)

Here's one that's $7.99 instead of $19.99 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075974Y84/

You can really go with whatever style you like, it doesn't have to say "vape" on it... If I was going to spend $20 I'd get a Maxpedition and even then this one is $15 https://www.amazon.com/Maxpedition-Pocket-Organizer-Foliage-Green/dp/B005CSYUKQ

All my Maxpedition gear has lasted forever, I'd recommend it if you want something that won't wind up with rips or broken zippers.

u/yanknet23 · 1 pointr/dji

If you are asking about airport checks, i would suggest taking off the wings, store batteries in lipo packs, and keep everything in backpack- i bought one of these for my Mavic which i stored in my backpack-

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KN66QRQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I didn't fly anywhere that was populated. Definitely didn't attempt to fly around Hanoi. Ninh Binh had more open space and i kept it in range all the time.

You will have fun with the shots you'll get. Enjoy

u/Sliw · 3 pointsr/dji

This, the greatest carrying case for it by a mile:

Orca Tactical MOLLE H2O Water Bottle Pouch Hydration Carrier (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KN66QRQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_aigQ87ZUVQPJ2

It fits almost perfectly, hold everything and then some.

u/indyK1ng · 1 pointr/gamingnews

I have a small MOLLE slingpack that I occasionally travel with. My Switch doesn't fit in one of these pouches without removing the joycons. It would be nice to fit one whole since the joycons like to search for the console in there. I even opted for my 2DS over my Switch when I went to SGDQ (granted, I was also traveling with a bunch of other stuff too).

Given what I read for a size comparison, the Lite should fit.

u/azmr_x_3 · 2 pointsr/backpacks

I've heard decent things about these pouches from Condor, relatively inexpensive
https://www.amazon.ca/Condor-Outdoor-POUCH-Pouch-Black/dp/B00CAYBC88/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1541651606&sr=8-14&keywords=condor+mesh

Personally I got a cocoon Grid-it organizer panel about a month ago, https://www.amazon.ca/Cocoon-GRID-Organizer-Black-CPG7BK/dp/B00479FQCM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1541651757&sr=8-1&keywords=grid-it
fits pretty well in my edc/school backpack. I keep my pencil case, headphones, calculator, the plug for my phone charger, a small calendar, and one or two other small things on the front occupying less than half the space. The back just has a zippered pocket where I keep some misc papers, a formula sheet and ruler in. It sits in my bag in front of my laptop, my notebook, and a thin text book, but behind my laptop charger, and few first aid things and my waterbottle. It really has made my backpack organization more efficient.

There are tons of videos on YouTube showcasing size and items most people like to put in them. This would be worth looking into. Some other reputable brands I have seen are Vanquest and Condor. Personally, I use the EDC organizer from Maxpedition in my 5.11 Rush 12 backpack. I highly recommend it.
u/watchthenlearn · 4 pointsr/EDC

Love that backpack. I highly recommend this pouch. You put it on the side opposite of the water bottle, it's my most used pocket.

u/nept_r · 2 pointsr/EDC

I agree. Seeing the same 5 items, often literally the same model, doesn't really do that much for me. My cutoff for EDC would be what you could comfortably carry on your person that isn't a backpack full of gear. For instance, I have a Maxpedition Mini Pocket that's the sweet spot for me. It's big enough to bring a variety of items but small enough that I could wear it on a belt or throw it in a bag. I can EDC something like that without a sweat, and if it's not on my person then it's in my car with me or in my pack

u/thegammaray · 2 pointsr/onebag

Nope, neither has an external water bottle holder. I think it would be pretty easy to lash a separate water bottle holder onto the side handle and a shoulder buckle, though (e.g. this MOLLE one).

u/Tir · 1 pointr/EDC

So you might actually like something like the Condor Sidekick Pouch for mounting on either a leg drop or a belt. When you open it up, paracord holds the halves at a 90 degree angle, so you can easily see tools etc on the inside - see picture on site. It's about $18 shipped on amazon

u/velogeek · 2 pointsr/guns

This. I picked up this Orca Tactical MOLLE bag that goes in the storage compartment under the rear seat of my truck with a pretty stocked first aid kit and I just attach that to my rifle case when I go shooting. It's red with a huge cross on it so it's conspicuous for anyone who would need it.

u/Abovereports · 1 pointr/Tools

I did something similar, although I got the 3V Gear bag. If you do go this route, I recommend getting a Condor T&T pouch for it. It's great for cables and tools.

I solved this problem for my brother for Christmas. Basically, I bought the product linked below, then used black Paracord to attach it via some simple knots to the side. It's secure and simple.

it does not, it does have molly on the back, and you can make a paracord belt loop for it. if it is the mini (I have both the mini and EDC version) it will fit in front pocket or cargo pocket very well.

Condor sidekick pouch is a great molle pouch. It has a kinda 3/4 zip front which is held by adjustable strings, so it sorta folds out into a little tray.

I use this. My scrub pants have cargo pockets and this fits perfectly. I invert it and zip it wth the loops and pockets facing out, front side gets shears in the large pocket, red pen, highlighter, dual sided sharpie, pen light, white board marker in the loops. back side gets a hemostat or two thrown in the back side. In the in between or "inside" i slip a small spiral notebook.

The nice part is its easy to grab and go and KNOW I have my basics, and at the end of the day I clip my badge to it when I get to my car so I dont lose that.

YMMV if you dont have cargo pockets it would fit in.

I recently bought one of these Condor T and T pouches and have been very happy with it. The photo on Amazon does not do it justice, however. Mine came with four of those removable molle snap straps, which I did not need for my application. Here is a pic of a typical load out of one of those Condor's.

Not sure if that is the type of pouch you are looking for, I couldn't picture in my mind what you were after (just my issue, not your description).

I've got a smallish bag, something like: zippered pouch that I can carry by hand if I'm going to a stadium or something like that, but otherwise I'm always carrying a messenger bag or smallish drawstring type backpack. Sucks, but part of life, might as well own it.

as for a flash light what do you think of a streamlight microstream?

hard to say any more if i dont know how you carry all that stuff

also, try to fix one or two days (depends of how much you use your zippo) for filling days, that way you wont need a backup lighter. or just get some kind of a pocked organizer like a maxpedition mini or maxpedition micro, for what i see that is more than enough for you

The shirt and pants are sports wear from Academy. The armor pieces are made from EVA foam and glued down using Barge cement glue. The belt is from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OYT440/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Mask and gauntlets are from Reevzfx (https://www.facebook.com/Reevzfx?ref=br_tf) I made the cape.

As long as I'm not wearing golf shorts, I routinely fit A Maxpedition Mini Pocket Organizer with plenty of room to spare. Golf shorts require that in a front pocket, though, but anything else I could fit more. It currently has my keys, a carabiner, hair tie for my wife, a Gerber Shard, nail clippers, a stylus, some pointy ended tweezers, a mini flashlight, a cheap pair of ear plugs, some coupons, and some receipts. I used to keep a pen in there, but it leaked, and have been meaning to restock my lens wipes, and Shout wipes.

Edits: to correct the link and name the Gerber tool (which I use to complete a circuit to open my garage door, haha), and to add what I need to replenish.

This is what I am using. I have used the surefire polymer one and actually preferred the lens facing down since it was more compact. That holster I linked to has 8 different positions of cant.

Oh for sure. That's mask latex, not foam. Good stuff, just two different things. And this was the belt that I hope you avoid from using :

I know it may look the part, but way too many bat-costumers use it already. And it never looks right.

Nite Ize makes one that would likely work. You can buy it at Lowes too. It is however very stiff and hard to insert flashlights larger than a mini-mag. It will certainly take up to a D-cell Maglite with a little fussing however.

I put some foam in the top and bottom of the big case, and cut a slit down the smaller case to allow the sticks to stick out. The pouch in the front is big enough for the charger. It could, perhaps, fit a spare battery or 2 instead.

Would post more pictures but imgur is being weird.

I use a nite-ize flashlight holder on my belt. One of these
