You can't predict every failure, but this will fix most major issues enough to get you to a shop or a safe place to work. Give the Jeep a once over, front to back, left to right. Drive it at highway speeds for 30 minutes and source out any shakes, squeaks, rattles, buzzes, etc.

        Hope this helps.

Tire plugs and an air compressor. This is what I carry for plugs. It's probably overkill, but it works great. This is the air compressor I use. You can find it for cheaper, but it keeps up with $200+ compressors and there are a ton of mods you can do to improve them if you want.

> Yes, but you see, I do not know anything about them, I did not repair a tire before. So for example I can fix it, do something wrong and then have to pay another 100 for a tow. If I replace tire I will pay more, but have peace of mind.

I was in the same situation a few years ago. A hole in a tire meant a new tire. The streets and roads are very hazardous for tires where I live, and I rely on my motorcycle to get to most places, so I didn't want to buy a new tire every year or two when I picked up a nail.

One morning I woke up to find that I had a flat rear tire. I went to Cycle Gear and got a kit just like the one you are asking about in your post. I found the nail and removed it, then reamed out the hole to make it bigger and rougher. There are videos on YouTube showing you exactly what to do. I used the rubber worm thing and coated it in rubber cement and jammed it in. It took all my strength, and I'm a group exercise instructor. I pulled it out, snipped off the end with a razor blade so it was (mostly) flush with the tire, and filled the tire with half a bottle of Slime.

The plug held for about 8 months. Then I was going about 80 on the freeway when I sensed I had a flat rear tire again. Getting a flat rear tire isn't as dangerous as a flat front. I pulled over and it appeared as though the plug had finally failed. I called for a tow but they said they'd be 3 hours to get there so I called my fiancee instead and had her bring me my plug kit. It worked and life is good again. I keep a full kit including compressor/co2 and razor with me wherever I go now. It doesn't take up much space.

I'll probably get new tires later this year.

Has anyone used this flat tire slime stuff? It might ruin your tire but it could save your day, so I guess whichever you value more.

That sucks. Hey you might want to keep something like this in your car for next time:

https://www.amazon.com/Slime-50107-Smart-Emergency-Repair/dp/B0166BVK28/ref=pd_sbs_263_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=YSCFXP1AF7WY0VX4FG6P

Fixes a flat tire in like 5 minutes while you sit in your car. I had a flat up in Flin Flon a few years ago. It was a holiday so all repair places were closed. I used this and was able to make it from Flin Flon to Saskatoon where Kal Tire then washed out the tire (this stuff is water soluble) and then patched the hole. Can't say enough about this stuff, especially with winter coming who wants to be changing a tire when it's -20. This is a 5 minute job.

Yes. These cheap plug kits actually work really well. I've had a total of six flat tires in the past 18 months in my Volkswagen, used this to repair every one. So far, not one have leaked, and some of my tires have more than one.

That's the equivalent to what I have. Works brilliantly and mine is quite light, so I just keep it in my bag (after getting 3 punctures). That kit there actually comes with lots of extras mine doesn't have.

I love the heavy duty tools and the case of this one. I've run plugs to the end of the tire's life before.

Just posted this in another post a few minutes ago but Gore-TEX patch should do the trick I used one years ago on a pair of snow pants and it's still holding strong.

u/singelingtracks · 2 pointsr/MTB

if the cut isnt on the wire bead, or too close to it.

try to contact cement patch kit. https://www.amazon.com/Slime-1022-Rubber-Tube-Patch/dp/B003CK75LC
clean the tire off good, sand it, clean it again.

if it is very close to the bead, its most likely not repairable. you can give it a try but keep a tube as a backup on rides.

time for a new tire.

u/stignordas · 4 pointsr/volt

Thankfully the screw punctured a safe part of the tread. Only took a few minutes to plug and inflate.

I think it’s ridiculous the volt doesn’t cone with a mini spare and jack.

Next step is getting it professionally patched from the inside. Most shops don’t do patches anymore, afraid of liability.

Here’s the kit I bought for this very reason. I’ve had the cheap kits before and they suck. This one is super sturdy and the strings are much higher quality with Kevlar reinforcements.

I have performance tires so I don't have to worry about that...

A plug kit to me is this :

ARB 10000011 Speedy Seal Tire Repair Kit (Universal) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075CR4J3W/

u/Cigar_smoke · 2 pointsr/BmwTech

Just food for thought, instead of having a can of fire seal (I think it wrecks the tire) did you think of putting in safety seal tire plug kit and a compressor ? I put it in my other vehicles trunk since the spare is not inflated so I would need to inflate it then once repaired get it back in. I use that car for road trips and it’s saved me already. Doesn’t take up much space at all.

u/industrialprogress · 1 pointr/arcteryx

It looks manageable for now assuming it's just for day-to-day stuff, otherwise you can get a glue-on Goretex patch or equivalent.

https://www.amazon.com/McNett-Gore-TEX-Patch-Kit/dp/B07CBTXBFN or something similar.

u/blipsman · 1 pointr/explainlikeimfive

Such patch kits are usually a spray that goes over the air nozzle and sprays a sealer into the tire which closes the hole. You're not hunting on the tire for a tiny hole

I bought this one.
