Note 1: These are known as Perfect Fit cards, they fit snugly and are intended to fit the exact specifications of "Standard" size cards like Magic, or Pokemon, and almost any modern board game -- especially those produced for the US market. They are designed to fit inside other sleeves to protect valuable TCG/CCG cards -- they are not superior protection on their own. Yet, for many years they were my go-to; they improve shuffling as well as any other, they add minimal bulk for those that like to keep the original boxes for games, and they are sufficient protection for a responsible gamer who doesn't need to worry about kids/pets/spills as a frequent occurrence. Also note, that there are two packages available for the KMC prouct -- the red on in the image and a new, blue, "USA" pack that is intended to cut down on counterfeit product.

I would have recommended KMC first if not for my recent experience with Sleeve Kings. KMC Perfects are only a good value when bought in that bulk pack, and I cannot recommend you purchase them any other way because they are 40-60% cheaper in bulk. I am worried that at some point the bulk distribution will dry up due to manufacturer obligations or counterfeiting problems, and I'll be stuck re-sleeving games to match expansions. At this current time, King Sleeves represents my best value proposition for the general collector, especially if you don't find yourself needing thousands of sleeves at a time like we do (with my games and my spouse' Pokemon collection). They represent a product that is the same rough price-per-sleeve as KMC, without the need to buy 10 packs at a time. They also better protection, and other sizes, so your collection can be sleeved with uniformity. I cannot comment on overall pack-to-pack consistency -- some nerds will be able to tell you that you'll absolutely want to buy all the sleeves you'll need from the same run or the sizes will be off by a smidge regardless of the manufacturer (I'll spare you why this causes problems, but it does), but King Sleeves claims to have largely addressed this issue.

If you have other games that you want to get into sleeving, you might consider that bulk pack of KMC. Nothing in the world like a Perfect Fit sleeve. But, if I had the option to do so years ago, I'd probably go with King Sleeves for all my games; alas, King Sleeves was not around when I joined the hobby. What's important is that you consider that some day you might have to integrate a new expansion or promo, and you'll need to make sure you have the same sleeves as the rest are in. For that reason it's too late for me, I'm years in and thousands of sleeves deep. I can't say that the thin, snug nature of the sleeve hasn't been a benefit because some games are j u s t able to fit in the original box, and anything thicker would have changed that. But, the King Sleeves feel much nicer. At any rate, our current process is any Standard sleeve goes in KMC Perfect, and other size gets King Sleeves.

Note 2: The odd-shaped sizes in this game are PARTICULARLY odd. I was only able to find one manufacturer (NSKN/PALADIN) that ever offered the exact sizes, and they no longer offer them for sale. So, in effort to give you at least something, I found the next-nearest-size that King offers. These will be TOO LARGE in both cases. You may wish to use your best judgement on if that will be a problem for you, versus leaving them unsleeved entirely. Some madmen will tell you to take the taller sleeves and cut them, but that's ridiculous. I'd probably consider leaving them unsleeved and encourage poeple, politely, to leave them on the table unless touching necessary.

I decided to start collecting with Steam Siege and Generations. Figuring out the best way to keep stuff was daunting at first. After going through all of TCC's videos and lurking in this and the collection sub, this is the system I settled on:

-Each Set gets its own 1" binder. Be sure to use a D-ring style so the pages sit evenly on top of each other. I like these from Office Max/Depot because they open and close easily and have a pin-hole style of lock so it ensures alignment of the rings and minimizes catching pages.

--In the inside pocket of the cover, I put the Trainer's Guide from the ETB of the set, fits nicely in the larger of the 2 pockets. Make sure you don't put anything in the back cover's pockets, as that could make an uneven surface for your cards to rest on if you leave the binders on their sides.

--Then, each binder starts with a 4-pocket binder sheet to store one of each booster art for the set.

--After the booster page, I organize the cards by set number, starting with the core set followed by the parallel set. I use Ultra pro's 18 pocket side loading card pages for storing the cards. Pretty much hands down the best. I prefer the black backing and only want to put 1 card in each pocket. Nice fit, though I noticed some scratches/imperfections in clarity on the batch I got. Not a big deal for me, as they are still very durable, but may be for others.

---Basic cards go into a KMC perfect fit sleeve upside-down and then into the binder page. Good protection, tight fit, not too much cost. KMC's are pretty universally accepted as the best. As some have said, too tight a fit could damage a card, too loose and it wont fit for double sleeving. I've never had a KMC perfect fit that was too tight, maybe a little loose, but never tight that it could cause damage. Looser ones I just put to the side for storing non-foil cards and not for double sleeving.

---Any foil card (Holos, parallels, URs, SRs, etc.) go into a KMC perfect fit upside down, and then into a black KMC Hyper Mat before going into the binder. I usually double sleeve a stack of cards and then put them into a tight deck box or under a stack of books for a week or so to squeeze out all the air before putting them into the binder.

-Any extra cards then get stored in the ETB for the set they are from. Organize them however you like, but I keep one section for a playset of up to 4 of each card, and any copies above that go into a second 'trash/trade' section. Eventually I may put the playsets of 4 cards into penny sleeves just to keep things sorted more easily, but I don't have too much surplus yet to warrant it. Again, I always keep things ordered by set number.

--Here, any extra foil cards will get sleeved. Right now I am just using Ultra Pro's deck protectors since I ran out of perfect fits, but really don't like how they have the stippled surface on the inside of the sleeve as well. I can feel it scratching the edges/back of the card each time I sleeve one. Particularly valuable rares or holos may get double sleeved for better protection, but still get stored in the box.

-For actual play, I would stick to KMC hyper mats. Good shuffle feel, and last longer than the Ultra Pro's. I played a game with a buddy with my deck sleeved in the Ultra pro's and loved the shuffle feel, but the sleeves just break too easily if you catch a corner. Also they aren't opaque, KMC's are definitely the better looking.

Let's start with the big picture. You're going to want somewhere to keep your cards.

For the ones at home, something like this should do just fine. It keeps things mostly organized, is rather inexpensive, and will last. You can make inserts to help subdivide more if needed.

Next, you're going to want something to carry your cards in for the go. Many people just use backpacks or messenger bags, but there are [specialty bags] (http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-Zippered-Gaming-Corrugated/dp/B0009F3DQ4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1419647218&sr=8-2&keywords=card+carrying+case) that you can purchase as well.

To keep you decks organized and protected while in the bag, [deck boxes] (http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-Boxes-Magic-Pokemon-YuGiOh/dp/B00EA9REK6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1419647294&sr=8-3&keywords=deck+box) are the way to go. They make things nice and modular and will protect your cards even if you just have a normal backpack.

For your trades, if you go that route, a [binder] (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Universal-Round-Ring-Economy-Vinyl-View-Binder/24966030) and some [sleeve pages] (http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-Pocket-Page-Protectors/dp/B005HIOVOG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419647392&sr=8-1&keywords=card+pages) should do fine.

Finally, your decks. Sleeves! Sleeves! Sleeves! and Sleeves! The cards in your decks are going to see the most use so you're going to want to protect them the best. I've found that [Dragon Shield] (http://www.dragonshield.com/) and [Ultra Pro] (http://www.ultrapro.com/division.php?d=g) sleeves are excellent for their value and use them on several of my decks. Cards in your deck are often your most powerful and you're going to want to keep them in the best shape possible.

Many people, myself included, will argue for getting a [Play Mat] (http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-84314-Grumpy-Play/dp/B00IT5GPZ2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1419647676&sr=8-3&keywords=card+playmat) so that you sleeves won't get torn up as much and will last longer, but it's not absolutely essential.

Oh! I forgot dice! My group have found that dice are the easiest way to keep track of things like life totals, counters, and about everything else you need a number for. Having your own are absolutely essential, there's always someone you can borrow from, but they're a great thing to have around.

edit One thing I want to point out is that everything there can be customized to fit your particular style, so have fun! The way you carry and present your cards says as much about you as the cards themselves!

A recipe you say?
Well here's my Aunts amazing artichoke and spinach dip:

1 can artichoke hearts
2 boxes of frozen spinach (or you could get fresh spinach and do the whole cooking it thing but idk how much that takes)
1 entire stick of butter
1 package of cream cheese
1lb cheddar cheese
1 medium sized onion
1/2 cup parm cheese
1 tbsp sugar
1 cup sour cream

First you're going to want to get those onions cooking. Cut the onions into medium/small pieces. Get a frying pan and put it on medium heat. Put the entire stick of butter and let it melt then add the onions and tbsp of sugar. You're going to want to wait until these are completely caramelized. So put a lid on it and let it cook until they are amazingly golden brown and nom.

While that's happening preheat the oven to 425.

Next defrost those two packages of spinach. This takes a minute if you have a 500 year old microwave like I do. Get them completely defrosted until they are warm. Then you need to strain all of the water out. I get a colander and a big bowl and use my hands to squeeze all of the water out over the colander. (This way any pieces that fall are caught.) Squeeze that spinach until every single drop of moisture is gone.

Get those artichoke hearts and cut them into good sized pieces.
Grab your cheddar cheese and grate all of it.
I put my cream cheese in the microwave for about 30 seconds so it softens.
Measure your sour cream and parm cheese.
Now throw everything in a big bowl, all the ingredients.

Now is the really messy part! You could use a spoon or a spatula or something, but I use my hands because it's the easiest. Make sure you wait a minute until the onions aren't scolding hot to do this. Mix it until it seems like everything is mixed thoroughly and then grab whatever pan you want to put it in.

Honestly, I use a bigger sized pan but you can use whatever you want. You could even put it in little souffle cups if you wanted to.

Grab some more of that parm cheese and sprinkle it on the top. Now put it in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until it's golden brown on the top.

The best thing to eat it with is tortilla chips, but you could use absolutely anything.

WARNING: THIS STUFF IS AMAZING AND IS PROBABLY AROUND 9823287 BILLION CALORIES. SO I WOULD recommend NEVER making it unless you have to take it somewhere. If not you may get diabeetus or have a heart attack because once you have some you want all of it. trust me

Went all out with the conspiracy sideboard and even got tokens sleeved. Next step I think I'll get some cheaper full art lands and then think of how to upgrade it with WotS after it gets played a few times.

Definitely cost a bit more than the original target of $100. I think I spent around $200 in total for the cards, lands, and tokens. 95% of which I was able to get in under two weeks from CardSphere. I was almost instantly able to get everything I needed from there for 80% of the index prices. Tokens we're like 30%. Im sure I could have gone even lower if I wanted to wait a little longer. Definitely recommend checking them out.

This is my first real paper collection so I decided a cheap budgetish cube would be a good start to play with friends. I was going to try the Card Kingdom starter cube, but this one just seemed like it was well worth the extra money.

Edit: Case is a Quiver. Fits the 360 card cube, 15 card Conspiracy card sideboard, 80+ tokens, and 35 of each land with dividers almost perfectly. Really wanted to go with the Dex Protection Supreme Game Chest but I couldn't find any colors I liked. Im happy I didn't though. While it definitely looks a lot better, I absolutely love this case. Super easy to transport and the cards don't budge. I really don't have any complaints and it was a fraction of the cost.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's very hard to lose a friend. But it really does help to think about all the fun times, and great memories you have with that person. But, if you need someone to talk to, please feel free to send me a PM. :)

A few years ago, I deployed to Afghanistan. Early on in my time there I became really good friends with a guy named DD (his nickname for privacy purposes). He was also a military member. Well, unfortunately he had a longer deployment cycle than me, so I ended up leaving before his unit. And DD, he didn't make it home at all. He was killed when his truck hit an IED. This happened 3 weeks after I got back the US.

Sadness aside, the things that really helped me cope with losing my friend were the memories we had made while we were able to hang out over there. (Which, was actually quite often. We were practically each other's shadow. Us, and our group of mutual friends) Among those memories, one really stands out to me. Well, one day I had to go out on a mission myself, and while I was out I was able to purchase a set of drum sticks for him. So when I got to our base, I handed the drum sticks to him, and he just had this look of a child on Christmas. Like, he couldn't believe that anyone would be so thoughtful to bring him something related to his absolute passion. From then on out, I almost never saw him without those drum sticks in his hands.

As crazy as it sounds, I think he knew that he wasn't going to make it back. There was one day where we sat down to chat, and he just had this real serious look on his face. We start talking, and the topic of those drum sticks come up in conversation. It wasn't until then that I realize how much of an impact just a small random act of kindness towards a friend meant to him. Something I had only done on a whim to make a friend smile. Well, I guess it meant more to him than i'll ever know because he asked me, should he not make it back from overseas, to lay a set of drum sticks on his grave.

That experience really made me realize just how much of an impact you can have with even the smallest gestures that might seem meaningless to you. But, even just thinking about how happy he was to recieve such a simple gift, it really made me smile then and still makes me happy to remember it now.

As for an item, I'd have to say this would be great to have on my desk at work. It would definitely make me smile more haha

So, as someone who is relatively new to DMing (started just over a year ago), here's what I'd suggest to make sure you keep your cost down, while still having figures you can slowly replace over time:

I've been able to find tubes or tubs of a decent selection of cheap, pre-painted figures at just about every Walgreen's or CVS Pharmacy I've been to. I use these guys for animal encounters, pet companions, and they're especially helpful for my druid.
  
  If you can't find them at your local drugstore IRL, there's plenty of selections you can find online.
  
  
• Here's just an example of some of the tubes you can find.

  Now, players understand you can't afford unique figures for every encounter. However, I've noticed that the figures you have stand in for whatever they're fighting can sometimes be distracting, or if you have multiple identical figures it can be confusing knowing which one they're targeting in a battle. A great, cheap solution I've found to this is just using multi-colored generic pawn pieces like from the game "Sorry!". The pieces themselves are so nondescript (other than color) that the players have an easier time projecting the combatant you describe onto them, and the various colors make it easier to track what's going on in a battle, both for the players and DM.
  
  If you can't just salvage an old Sorry game you find lying around you can find packs of the pieces or other generic multi-colored pawns online for very cheap.

  This last suggestion isn't really about where to find cheap figures, but more to address the reason you said you wanted figures in the first place, to "help the immersion".
  
  You may have heard of the website HeroForge before and it's a great tool for D&D players. It allows you to make very customizable figures for your games. Now, the cost of their cheapest figures are still over $30 for a single figure, so definitely not cheap. However, as a DM, I still regularly use it. I use HeroForge to help design notable NPC's or enemies for my campaign, then save the screenshot of them and post the image in our group chat when the character gets introduced. This is very helpful for a lot of reasons: I get a more solid idea of characters that I was designing in my head, it gives the players a visual and helps with the immersion, and when I DO decide to actually order a character (like, for example, a villain or NPC I know will be reoccurring for many sessions) it becomes a MUCH bigger deal and way more intense.
  I also always recommend that PC's at the very least design their figures on HeroForge for the same reasons.

  I hope these were helpful. I'm still in the process of building my figure collection as well and love to share cool tips or resources I have found while doing so.

I do this with my Scion Dragon Tribal EDH deck. I can't tell you his setup, but I can tell you what I've found to work well:

KMC Perfect Fits, as the inner-sleeve, put on upside down, so the opening is at the bottom of the card.

Any Normal Sleeve works as your mid sleeve. For the tightest fit, use KMC Matte (NOT SILK); however I use Ultra-Pro Illustrated ones, because the outer sleeves make the shuffle feel nice; so no worries about the middle one. These are put on normally, opening at the top of the card.

Finally, KMC Character Guards. These go on upside down, with the openings at the bottom; and make the deck feel like a more smooth KMC shuffle-feel. Wonderful together, but be prepared for a REALLY thick deck. Can be tough to shuffle all the cards with smaller hands.

In total; you'll need 1 set of Inner-Sleeves; 1-2 Sets of Middle-Sleeves depending if you buy a back with at least 100 in it; or if you just get a couple packs of 60-80; and 2 packs of Outer Sleeves. It can be a bit pricy, but nothing protects like it; 'cept maybe a top loader over each, haha.

EDIT: While I would 100% Recommend Dragon Shield Matte sleeves to anyone who plays Magic; I wouldn't recommend Triple sleeving with them as the middle sleeve. They're a little taller than most other sleeves, and might stick out more with the outer-sleeves. Haven't tested, but be Wary; like good ol' Norin.

"Cheating"? Nope.

So WHAT if someone sees that the next card to draw is a Crabs card not a CAH card? It's one of an entire deck (or two, or three, or six) of the Crabs cards mixed in, so the person drawing doesn't know what he/she gets. Might be a good one, it might suck. You don't know until it's in your hand. Besides, it's the next white card to draw, so there's not a helluva lotta choice.

So WHAT if the czar notices that Bobby is the person who submitted the only Cocks Abreast Humility card this round? As long as the Czar isn't trying to make sure Bobby wins or loses, but is just picking the card he/she genuinely finds the funniest of all the submitted cards, it's all good.

I've played with a "mixed packs" deck for years, and it's never been a detriment to the fun of anybody playing because the different backs are visible.

Besides, most people playing don't seriously keep score. And even if you do keep score and declare a winner, it's not about winning. It's about laughing and having good times with friends.

"I don't want to spend $300 on sleeves" Me either. I don't buy those high-end sleeves that have the opaque backs. I buy sleeves that are less than a penny each just to protect the cards if someone spills their beer on them (has happened before; that's why I began sleeving).

I think you're worrying about nothing, personally.

You've received some great advice. Here's my take (after watching countless hours of the Professor on Tolarian Community College youtube channel).

• The ultra pro deck boxes are a great start!
  
• For about the same price, try out the ultra pro 'pro-dual' deck box. It holds two decks (or one deck plus dice/counters) all in one convenient spot! (link)
  
• The elite trainer boxes are a great value, and the box is excellent for storing cards. You can put cards in directly (like the picture provided above) or you can even fit the Ultra Pro deck boxes inside. (link
  
• The elite trainer box also includes card sleeves that you can use to protect your kids' deck. These are not the strongest sleeves, but they look great and are much better than nothing. If the kids are yanking cards in and out of these they may get beat up pretty quickly, so you'll have to decide if it's worth using sleeves at this point.
  
• Inner sleeves (or penny sleeves) are clear transparent sleeves. These will provide a bit of protection and can be used permanently (no need to ever take them out of these). Cards sleeved with these can then be 'double sleeved' in the bigger outer sleeves (like the ones included in the elite trainer box) for maximum protection. Inner sleeves are slick so trying to use them without an outer sleeve may prove difficult as the cards will slide around and not stack well. (link)

What to store things in

I use binders for commonly used cards and cardboard boxes for "bulk" cards (The cards you don't think you will use very often): 5000 capacity box, 800 capacity box

I also hear that these Stanley Organizers are also incredible for storage, as each compartment is the perfect size for a sleeved MTG commander deck (100 cards).

The binder should definitely be sorted. Not only is it more organized that way, you can find the cards you need much faster. The box can be unsorted, though I like to at least keep cards belonging to the same faction together.

This does run into the problem of occasionally not knowing whether a card is in the binder or box, but it has the advantage of giving you quicker access to the cards you most commonly use. I mostly do this because of habits from MTG, where you get tons of useless cards, but Netrunner doesn't give you nearly as many useless cards, so you could make the argument for storing all your cards together instead of differentiating between commonly used cards and bulk.

How to sort cards quickly

Your cards can be in whatever order you want: completely alphabetical, by faction and then by type and then alphabetical, by set, whatever. Your personal preference.

However, when it comes to sorting cards, or anything in general, there are fast ways to sort and slow ways to sort. Anyone who has studied computer science can attest to this. The difference is small when you only have a few cards, but quickly becomes massive as the number of cards grows.

Here are the two sorting algorithms you should know if you want to sort your cards quickly: Quicksort and Merge sort. They are among the fastest algorithms out there, they're easy to understand, and they're practical for sorting cards by hand. I'll explain them in the context of sorting cards below.

Quicksort

Here's how quicksort works for computers: Choose a "pivot" item at random from the unsorted pile. Now, go through everything and divide it into two piles: Those that would come before the pivot, and those that would come after the pivot. Then, sort each pile individually (usually with yet another quicksort). Once the piles are sorted, just combine them and put the pivot in between them, and voila, the pile as a whole is in order.

However, if you're a human, you'll find it more efficient to sort based on certain characteristics of the card that you can quickly identify (such as the card's faction) instead of whether or not the card comes before or after a randomly chosen pivot. In addition, you'll want to separate into multiple piles instead of just 2.

Here's an example: You want your cards sorted by faction and then in alphabetical order. You already sorted you cards by faction, and now, you want to sort your Anarch cards in alphabetical order. The cards you want to sort are in the following order: Wyldside, Demolition run, Deja Vu, Grimoire, Corroder, Medium, Yog.0, Stimhack, Parasite. The first step of quicksort is to divide the cards into piles. When sorting alphabetically, I like to make a pile for cards from A-E, one for F-M, one for N-R, and one last one for S-Z. However, as long as every card in one pile comes before every card in the next pile, it doesn't matter how you make your piles. So, dividing these unsorted cards into piles (according to my preferred sorting scheme), we get the following piles:

{Demolition run, Deja Vu, Corroder}, {Grimoire, Medium}, {Parasite}, {Wyldside, Stimhack, Yog.0}

Each individual pile is not in order, so we sort each pile individually (I would use another quicksort on these piles if they were bigger) to get:

{Corroder, Deja Vu, Demolition run}, {Grimoire, Medium}, {Parasite}, {Stimhack, Wyldside, Yog.0}

Then, we just combine the piles and we're good.

Merge sort

Here's how merge sort works for computers: Divide your big pile into 2 separate piles, and then sort those piles individually (Usually with another merge sort). Then, once the 2 piles are sorted, merge the piles into one sorted pile. The merging process is made much easier by the fact that the two piles are already sorted individually.

Here's how the merging process works: Look at the top item of both piles. Whichever one comes first gets added to the bottom of a new combined pile. Repeat until both piles are empty, and voila, your combined pile is sorted in order.

Example: You have the following sorted piles: {Demolition run, Yog.0, Wyldside}, {Corroder, Parasite}. The first elements of our 2 piles are Demolition run and Corroder. Corroder comes first, it becomes our new combined pile. Now, the top item of our 2 piles are Demolition Run and Parasite. Demolition run comes before Parasite, so it gets put at the bottom of our combined pile. The top cards of the piles are: Yog.0, Parasite. Parasite is put at the bottom of the combined pile. The second pile is now empty, so just put the rest of the first pile at the bottom of the combined pile. The combined pile looks like this: {Corroder, Demolition run, Parasite, Yog.0, Wyldside}. It's sorted, yay!

If you're a human, you'll be doing mostly the same thing as the computer. However, instead of having to lift up the combined pile to put a card at the bottom of it, you can instead make the entire combined pile face-down and add cards to the top. When you're done merging, just flip the combined pile upside-down.

Which one?

From experience, quicksort is a lot better if you have an unorganized mess to sort.

However, if you're adding some brand new cards to an already sorted collection, you'll want to use mergesort instead, since your collection is already sorted. Simply sort the new cards, and then merge the pile of new cards and your already sorted collection.

How NOT to sort your cards

Perhaps you currently sort your cards like this: Pull a card out of the unsorted pile, find out where it goes in your pile of sorted cards, then put it there. Repeat until unsorted pile is empty.

Or, maybe you do this: Go through the unsorted pile, find the item in the pile that goes below every other item in the unsorted pile, put that item at the bottom of the sorted pile. Repeat until unsorted pile is empty.

If they feel slow, that's because they are. They're mathematically inferior to quicksort and merge sort. The first method is actually OK if you want to just put back a card you took out of your collection, but if you have more than a few cards to add to your collection, merge sort instead.

It's a little late notice now, but if he played back in the 90's, he probably saw Scrye Magazine at one point. They had an offer for these fantastic counters. That would be my gift of choice for a seasoned older player. I would also consider a nice deckbox, some sleeves, a playmat with favorite art, a custom playmat, or just find him a card he's always wanted, or some art prints.

Perfect fit sleeves fit your card... well, perfectly. They are just barely bigger than the card and are meant to be used with regular sleeves. Just an added layer of protection. I used to use them when I played MTG for some of my super expensive decks. They make your decks super bulky and I personally don’t think they are necessary unless you are playing some super expensive cards or if you wanna add a tiny degree of water protection to your cards. Also be warned that some people claim that certain kinds of perfect fits can warp your cards.

Penny sleeves are way bigger than cards and can offer some protection if you’re just putting cards in a binder or top loader. They’re not really for playing. (Your cards will fall out and it will be impossible to shuffle.) Most people use them for storage. Personally I use them when I mail cards in a trade or something. It’s really not doing much except maybe protection from scratches. When I say they are big I mean you could probably put 5-7 cards in 1 penny sleeve.

For non-CCGs I use KMC Perfect Fit sleeves. They're super thin (doesn't completely wreck deck/stack height,) fit cards quite snugly, and provides plenty of scuff/wet protection as well as easier/side shuffling.

My RFTG+expansions, Pandemic, and Netrunner are all fully sleeved with them. Probably have over a thousand cards sleeved in them so far.

I'm really surprised nobody else really seems to use them. They're kind of pricey for not-exactly-penny-sleeves but the production tolerances obviously much stricter. (Last pack of cheap sleeves I got essentially had two different sizes of sleeves in the same pack. They literally went in the trash.)

For MtG/CCGs where you've got single cards valued at $10+ I use Dragon Shields. For drafting I sleeve everything Perfect Fits. Just because its better than playing raw.

edit: In my experience, all sleeves are oil slick when they're fresh. Play a couple times to break them in and they're fine.

Regarding dragon sleeves and splitting, I find Dragon Sleeves split FAR more often than Perfect Fits. Maybe all KMCs are better in that regard, or maybe fitting much tighter just means less stuff to snag. To Dragon Sleeves' credit, you get 105-110 in a "box of 100" so you do have some extras when they split. It would be infuriating to buy a box of a certain color for a MtG Commander deck (100 cards exactly,) have one split, and then need to buy another entire box of that color.

Assuming you purchased the regular Dominion set, or the base cards set my recommendations are unchanged from here

Prosperity - This is the most straightforward and fun expansion, and can actually lead to shorter games with all the big money cards. #1 purchase for sure.

Guilds - Excellent cards to mix in with a big box. Love the new coin mechanic, since it's easy and fun.

Seaside - Duration cards can be hard to keep track of, but excellent cards all around here.

Hinterlands - Great to mix in with something. Nothing too fancy, just fun.

Cornucopia - Good batch of cards, but because they focus on a varied deck, some cards can be super weak.

Intrigue - Some good cards, but by adding choices to everything it really slows down the game.

Dark Ages - While there are some awesome cards here, most of them increase the complexity, leading to way
longer games. Recommended for very experienced players only.

Alchemy - The least fun expansion. Requiring the potion cards to buy is a weird mechanic and a lot of the cards are just not great.

500 sleves for < £20 and they are great quality and feel great. I don't double sleeve my cards and I love the clear sleeves as they let you see the archon art. They feel good in the hand and, honestly, I can't tell the difference between these and the Dragon shield sleeves I used originally.

Turntable: That's pretty much the setup I have. I like it. Do you need the acrylic platter? I don't think so. But it does look great. The Cue is nice to have, though I find myself using it less and less these days.

Preamp / Receiver: This will depend on the speakers you go with. You mention the Mackie CR4s. I also have those. But note that those are powered speakers, which means you don't need an amp/receiver. For those, you just need a preamp. And for a preamp, I'd go with the one U-Turn offers. It's regarded as a good preamp.

Speakers: The Mackie CR4s are very nice bookshelf speakers. If bookshelf speakers are going to work for you, they'll work. If you have a larger room or simply want a really loud, full system, then you likely want to go with floor speaker and a receiver.

RCAs: The ones that come with the U-Turn are great. In fact they are better than the fancy ones I bought.

For inner sleeves, the two you mentioned are pretty much the two brands everyone uses.

For stylus cleaning, the zerodust is great. I, again, opted for cheaper and went with the Magic Eraser method.

So I think that a pauper cube sounds like what you want to do. This is an all-commons cube, which, like you say, will allow fun, well-balanced play. It'll also be a bit lower complexity than a power cube would be, which is better for new players (as opposed to things like putting Eldrazi under a Mimic Vat).

The cards themselves will likely cost less than $100 - you may already have a good number of them - and then you would just need sleeves. I recommend double sleeving with something like the KMC Perfect Size inner sleeves and the KMC Hyper Matte sleeves outside. This will keep your cards in good condition (yes, they're commons, but it's nice if they stay nice looking. Some people also choose to foil out their pauper cube, since it's a lot cheaper to do than foiling out a powered or higher-powered cube, and double sleeving will prevent bending).

All in all for probably less than $200 you can make a fun pauper cube. Good luck!

The regular base set is just called Dominion. This is a fully playable game, and the cards have the simplest mechanics, so it is good for getting started.

Dominion: Intrigue is an expansion, but it comes with all of the base cards (coins, victory point cards, and curses) necessary to play the game, so it can be used as a standalone game or an expansion for the base game.

All of the other expansions require you to already have the base cards. However, you can actually buy the base cards separately, and buy an expansion that doesn't have them, if you really don't want to buy one of the two sets that includes them. You'll then need to download the basic rules online, since the rules for each of the expansions just describes the rules for that expansion.

I think the best options for starting out would be just getting Dominion, or maybe that plus one or two expansions, or getting Dominion Big Box which includes the base set and two expansions (Prosperity and Seaside). You could also just start out with Dominion: Intrigue if you wanted.

Dominion is best with 2 players, but I think it works well for 3 and 4 players as well. It's definitely a lighter, more random game with 4 players, while you can really get into the strategy with 2 players; both are fine, depending on what you're looking for. If you combine Dominion and Dominion: Intrigue (or add an extra set of base cards) you could play with up to 6 players in a single game, but I think it would really start to drag at that point. Better to just play two 3-player games instead.

So this is also a very late reply but for everyone still looking for a solution - I think I found it for me.

After hours of searching I finally ended up buying a card case made by Quiver.
What can I say - the quality of the case is brilliant and it almost seems like it was MADE for those 10 guild kits, considering how they perfectly fit into the case.

Even with all the accessories the case still closes without problems.

• Take your time learning. Magic is kind of like Chess in the way that it's simple to pick up and play but takes a lot of time and effort to master and no one becomes a guru overnight.
  
  
• If there are any specific cards you're looking for it's usually cheaper to buy them individually instead of gambling with booster packs. There's a chance to pull some $20+ cards from boosters but the odds are heavily stacked against you.
  
  
• Know what your cards are worth and don't be afraid to turn down a trade if you aren't 100% certain of the value of everything involved.
  
  
• Always keep your expensive cards protected and keep your decks stored inside of deck boxes so they don't get crushed or bent. Using rubber bands to keep cards/decks together can seem like an acceptable budget solution until they start to bend or wear the edges of the cards, which turns a $50 card into a $0 drink coaster.
  
  
• It's definitely worth investing into some card sleeves for your decks. They make decks easier to shuffle and prevent your cards from getting dirty. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people open a valuable foil rare from a booster draft, play it unsleeved for the tournament and then find out that no one wants to trade for it afterwards because it's completely scratched to hell.
  
  
• You also might want to look into getting a playmat. It's not nearly as mandatory to have as sleeves but it helps extend the life of your cards even further, it guarantees that you'll be playing on a clean surface and it helps mark your space at a table.

Just got a huge collection from my dad (lucky me) contains some first prints of Led Zeppelin II and IV (US not Germany) and tons of other beauties (my fave Steve Miller Band's first album first print) and I would just like to know the best way to keep them you know, safe. They aren't all the best quality condition wise but they're from my dad, so you know, sentimental.

Hobby lobby routinely has coupons for 50% off of one item. I think I spent $20 for my case. One case will hold all of the non-gear cards for the base game (sleeved) and all of the current expansions. I bought a second one of these cases to store all of the terran, settlement events, settlement locations, gear grids, rulebooks, etc. I no longer use the original box at all.

You take the card and (carefully) put the card upside down into the Perfect Fit sleeves. The card should fit snugly in there. Then you put the card into the Playing Sleeve with the opening of the Perfect Fit sleeve at the bottom. Then put the whole thing into a top loader.

So Card -> Perfect Fit sleeve -> Playing Sleeve -> Top Loader

Edit to add: if they are in extremely good condition (like they look perfect straight out of the pack), it may be best to avoid the Perfect Fit because you can cause very small nicks in the corners if you're not careful putting them in which can affect their grade, but if they look like the Black Lotus you have there, then it's probably not a huge concern.

So, here's all the details on how people store Magic cards meant to be played, with links.

The gold standard for the number of Magic cards to store is 75 or 100 double sleeved cards. As long as your container can store this many cards in one section it will be at least useful to the owner. Additionally, no one really likes storing their cards flat like your current box. Cards are much, much easier to retrieve from the container if stored edge on (top or sides exposed as opposed to your front or back, look at the pictures below).

The Boulder deck box by Ultimate guard holds exactly the preferred number of cards, down to sub millimeter tolerance. 100 cards and 75 cards

Ultra pro makes a pretty ubiquitous soft plastic box for 75 cards and 100 cards which does offer a little more wiggle room.

Ultimate guard makes nearly identical boxes. 75 cards, 100 cards.

They call their 75 card boxes 80 card boxes but that's referring to single sleeving and even single sleevers tend to appreciate the extra space for a few ancillary cards like tokens.

Also, we do not double sleeve with penny sleeves but inverted(open end at bottom of card) perfect^1 fit^2 sleeves and with regular^1 sleeves^2 over that.

Being able to hold cards is great but there is also some benefit to being able to hold a whole deck box. The Arkhive is a popular example. It holds snugly 5 x 75 card boulders and 4 x 100 card boulders. It also holds soft plastic boxes but less precisely.

When storing dice they are stored separately from cards. Ultra Pro, Ultimate Guard

I still love Dominion. Especially with some of the more interesting expansions, but even default Dominion, or Dominion: Intrigue (iirc you can get both of these with the basic coin and victory point cards) is a lot of fun, with a lot of replayability. And each expansion increases the interesting combinations exponentially.

Personally, if you go for Dominion, I'd recommend going for the original set, Intrigue, or the "generic" base set + Dark Ages. Intrigue and Dark Ages are my favourite dominion sets, but the original Dominon set is best for a baseline cardset.

Cutting: Heavy box cutter, metal ruler, cutting surface.

Paper: Prefer 25-30lbs, but really anything. (free is best)

Then: Load all your playing cards backwards into your card sleeves (back pattern of the card showing through the front). Then all you need to do is cut out your paper cards and slide them into the sleeve; easy peasy.

The thing that always bugged me was the numbers and suits showing through the back of the card sleeve, so I would always need to buy black or dark sleeves. You don’t want to turn it around though, because it’s way worse to see those suits showing through your custom card; why you want a nice and simple repeating pattern as to not be destracting. The nice thing about the new smoke sleeves is that you load your playing cards into those then put them into your color sleeve and bam, no more suits showing through the back of your sleeves even with lighter colors.

One recommendation for the smoke sleeves is that you load them upside-down into the color sleeve; that way you can avoid sillyness later when you want to pull out your paper cards.

Earlier this year I saved up and bough 1000 cards, color sleeves, and smoke sleeves, a card box, and spent a day loading them all up and storing them. Really nice to be able to have a bunch of them avalible at anytime. One party, my friends and I just made a silly card game out of the blue and it was great to be able to pull that box out and have a stable way to shuffle and hold the cards (at the time, folded post-its notes).

Not a theme deck, but this is probably the best thing for new players to learn on. Theme decks are really crummy and slow and don't give a good "feel" for what the game is actually like. This Mewtwo vs. Darkrai pack is straightforward enough that new players can learn on it but also well-built enough that it won't be boring.

I would definitely, definitely suggest getting enough sleeves for the decks though since the cards that come in there are worth more resale than the $30 you'll spend on the decks. One pack of these for the Darkrai deck and another of these for Mewtwo would work if you like color-coordination :)

For my high value cards, I double sleeve them. First I load them top first into perfect fit sleeves, then load them bottom first into a larger sleeve like the ETB sleeves. I like the extra shine from the silver on the ETB sleeves and they're nice and big. Then, they go in a top loader.

For any mid-range cards I at least put them in a single sleeve.

At a minimum, you should be putting cards you care about into sleeves and then a top loader. Putting the open end of the sleeve down into the top loader would definitely be better to protect against dust or accidental water exposure.

Dragonshields, matte black with perfect fit sleeves (that load from the top). Load card into sleeve upside down, then put into Dragonshield right-side up.

Then, Ultimate Guard Sidewinder 80+. Five of these fit perfectly into the Ultimate Guard Superhive 550+.

Chessex dice are great for the dice tray. Now, the dice tray in the Superhive is a little awkward, and dice fall out easily or it jams sometimes while trying to pull it out or put it back. So I use a spice bag to hold the dice (also helps make sure they don't just fall everywhere when pulling the tray out, etc.)

And, of course, my two favorite playmats fit in the Superhive as well.

I'm not artistic/creative, but I was pretty proud of myself for making an earth egg this Easter!

Oh man I need to get that playmat, but for me it was definitely my addon for Food Chain Magnate. It condenses the game from taking up every inch of a large table, to now being playable on an average or possibly even small table. Plus cleanup and setup takes half the time and it's much easier to keep track of who has what powers.

Runner ups include:

• Kemet - Buying these coin cases to hold all of the power tiles. Now it's so much faster setting up the game, I also have enough to give to each player so they can have their own sleeve of powers. Best part is is that for new players they can just grab the sleeve rather than having to glance over at the power tiles from afar.
  
• Pandemic/Dominant Species - I got these containers to hold all of the disease cubes and species cubes for both games and they work perfectly. My only suggestion would be to get a slightly larger container so it is easier to grab the pieces when they are inside, but the negative to that is that they will not fit in the original box as well.

Can easily hold another 100-200 cards so we are covered for at least another expansion pack if not 2. Very durable, feels super high quality and even a bit fancy. Hey bud, I have an innistrad plane cube for drafting thats pretty sweet. I can go over what I did if it helps at all.

I started with only Innistrad, great Draft environment to use as a base. Then I replaced all of the vanilla creatures or unplayables with another card from DKA, AVR, or SOI that fit the same role but had a relevent ability or stats. (Ex. a 2/2 zombie for 1b that had no abilities was replaced by a 2 mana zombie in the same rarity with more relevent abilities)

Right now the cube is about:
50% INN
20% DKA
10% AVR
20% SOI

Im trying to recreate a draft environment so I manueally create packs and put them in team bags (https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-Poly-Team-Bags/dp/B00095NR1K) to have them ready for each draft.

The slits for common, uncommon and rares is (5/3/1)
I keep flip cards seperate, the are split (3/2/1)

When I make packs I shuffle all the commons together, then repeat for uncommons, rares, and Flip cards.
Each pack is 9 Commons,3 uncommon, 1 rare, 1 flip card, and 1 land. The land could be any nonbasic land from any Innistrad set, put in for fixing and utility.

Right now my rares can be from any set and are pretty balanced, nothings unbeatable.

I also keep the flip cards in clear hypermattes while drafting and playing, but I have a checklist for each in a black sleave for proxying in the deck.

It is alot of sleaves and the cube fits a normal 2 row. But if you buy bulk, its not too bad. I have been having the same issue trying to figure out how I want to store all my dials and tiles. I have noticed that if you want to do binders that the small base tiles fit into the old 1.0 Mini upgrade card sized pages, the medium fit into the Normal card sized pages and the large bases fit into the 4 Slot sheets. In terms of dials I have been reading that people have been using These sheets. I have been on the fence about using binders for these, but I already have a box of 100 mini upgrade sheets from 1.0 that I still have like 80% of because I bought it before 2.0 was announced thinking I would need them. I was considering doing card and coin boxes for them. I know Coin boxes are popular as well for dials and small bases, but for the medium and large I don't really have a solution to those right now. I know I can fit the large into Card boxes, but I don't know if there is a better solution for medium bases.

If I'm dreaming big, then this is what I would ask for - it sounds like such an awesome game, and board games are my favourite way to spend quality time with my boyfriend. It sounds like a ton of fun, we actually went looking for it for an anniversary gift to each other, but we couldn't find it anywhere locally so we put it on the back burner.

Under $20, this guy - it's an inside joke, there are a group of us who play "minion" to my friend's "mad scientist", so it makes me smile.

The formats are always {set} onwards. Any set released after the given set, including the given set, is legal in that format. The current standard format, for example, is Primal Clash onwards.

Something worth noting is, as Bulbapedia says, a set is only legal after 3 fridays of release in the US. This doesn't mean you can't play the cards you get, it just means you can't use them in official events (though I'd make sure that whoever you're against is okay with you using the new cards first).

The format usually changes late August/early September, and while Expanded is still Black & White onwards, Standard is always a much smaller card pool, to allow variety and newer cards. Sets usually stick around for 2 years (ish).

Either way, have fun with collecting. There's no better feeling than pulling an amazing card. I highly recommend double sleeve-ing your most valuable/favourite cards (a perfect fit upside-down, then a regular sleeve over the top), as this will protect them from liquids pretty well.

Well I play Legacy and Modern, so I have some fairly pricy cards that I want to protect. Proper doublesleeving makes your cards nearly waterproof, and all but impervious to spills or mishaps. It also protects the cards really well from scratches. Lastly, if I want to put my cards in new sleeves, I don't have to fully remove them from sleeves, the perfect fit can stay on as I swap out sleeves. And the Japanese sleeves were probably KMCs, like mine.

What's the best way to make sure my record collection lasts a long time? Is it fine to just store them on a shelf as is in a cool area? Or is it advised to store each in their own polypropylene sleeves like these here? New to collecting so I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

Can you tell me more about your rule changes? Looks like your tokens go into the graveyard--but are they still tokens? E.g. is bounce still removal? I actually like this interaction as it allows for more spot removal. In general I tried to choose cards with lots of interaction.

You also added a morph element? How does that work?

It looks like you're triggering cast effects? Otherwise Desolation Twin seems odd. Also why Prowling Serpopard?

I've also considered being able to activate Momir's ability twice per turn. My slots for 3 and especially 4 have lots of spot removal, so it could be an interesting choice to choose, say, two 4 drops vs one 8 drop when your opponent has a big threat.

Get the Japanese perfect fits, not the ultrapro. Dragon shield are fine. I use them too, also kmc matte sleeves are great. Just double sleeve your decks, prevents the slipping you're experiencing and protects them better. Also makes it safer and easier to move cards from deck to binder to another deck.

It is a really really solid game, and if you end up loving it as much as we did, there are some very simple amazon purchases you can make to make setup take <5mins.

Power Tile holder - Cut off 1 row and the binder holes and you can store all of the power tiles in here. These fold in half and fit perfectly in the box. Setup is as simple as taking the 3 sheets out of the box and done!

Player boxes - Put each colored players pieces in these boxes (battle cards, miniatures, prayer point tracker, turn tracker, and action tokens). With the last extra box, put the Divine Intervention cards and all of the small extra silver/gold action tokens. If you can find ones that are slightly deeper you could even fit each of the 3 colored pyramids.

Victory Point holder - Holds all of the victory points in their own compartments.

KMC Perfect Fit are sleeves that are designed to fit perfectly on normal sized cards, and thus work for Pokemon cards. They will thicken them up a little bit. • Something to do with my hands when I'm stuck on a problem. At my office, I have juggling balls, while a coworker has a Rubik's cube, and another has a little basketball with a hoop. When we get frustrated or code block, we'll stand up and play with the toy and it helps take our mind off the code. I personally have found that it helps me solve problems.

To store my cards on the shelf I use BCW cardboard boxes 500 to 800 long. Cheap and effective. These get worn out pretty quickly in a backpack though.

On the go, I use a KMC Card Barrier Box 1000. It's a little expensive, but the form factor is perfect for a backpack, the box is sturdy and my cards are well protected. The way the box is divided makes it easy to not have the cards rattle. TCC Review

I find it's best stored in damp, warm places, or if possible near open flame. Under a furnace, or near but not in, a fireplace.

Yeah you're fine dude. Vertical is best. If you wanna preserve the jacket, get outer sleeves like these and keep the record in the sleeve alongside the jacket, in the clear outer sleeve. Then you won't end up with ringwear on the jacket after a couple years.

I'm not sure about the "1000" card claim, but so far I can fit 7 commander decks plus a boatload of tokens in there, so if you're eventually in the market for compact storage of larger quantities of cards in a single container, this thing has treated me well since day one.

I'd also like to add it likely fits far more than what I have in it - everything is comfortably situated, not tight at all. So it could probably fit up to 8 decks + tokens if you work it right.

This is likely the best price you are going to get on Perfect fits. Its about what you are going to pay for 4 packs of perfect fits at a store.

As for sleeves, i would be using dragonshield matte sleeves or kmc hypermatte sleeves.

The best price on dragonshield sleeves is going to be at starcity games open events at about 8$ per box of 100. But you can get them for 10-11 at local game stores in the likely situation that you aren't particularly close to an open.

I highly recommend trading on /r/pkmntcgtrades, just read up on the guidelines before you do.

Purchase some top loaders and penny sleeves. Place cards into penny sleeve into top loader, and use a bit of scotch tape to make sure they don't slide out.

You can either mail with (bubble mailer) or without tracking (plain white envelope). I always use some extra paper to make sure the envelope doesn't collapse on itself if I ship without tracking. If the cards are expensive, always use tracking and a bubble mailer.

For payment, I use paypal almost exclusively.

They are not great quality sleeves, but I like them because they're clear which is nice to differentiate card types for certain games and allows you to actually see the art. I also use a ton of these sleeves so this is a lot more cost efficient.

I use Paladin's standard sleeves and also perfect barrier sleeves.

The perfect barrier sleeves are amazing value to price, and they're a lot easier to get than the paladin sleeves

Without sleeving? Not much you can do there really except don't allow drinks on a table. 2000 cards using decent penny sleeves will not cost that much. I bought a box of 1000 sleeves for 10 bucks so 20 bucks can sleeve that whole game for you.

Two of these will sleeve 2000 cards. 3 will probably cover your needs. Now... actually spending the time to sleeve them? Yeah, it will suck and take time but 30 dollars and a few hours sleeving to protect your investment I think is well worth it.

I will say... these sleeves are not the best quality and don't feel good like dime sleeves do... but you get what you pay for. It would cost you $200 to sleeve using Dragon Shield or the like. Myself? Where I am at with sleeving games I buy Dragon Shield for everything. To me, it's worth it. Sure... I spent more on sleeves than the cards cost for Star Realms by my set is slick, easy to shuffle and play and looks great. I have also sleeved all of EPIC and have sleeves for all of my Mage Wars books (10+ of 60+ cards each). So I buy a ton of sleeves.

So for you on a budget? Penny sleeves.

Are you talking about deck boxes or looking for larger storage? I collect both Pokemon and MTG so I usually just use these for my bulk cards. It keeps them in pretty good condition as long as you're not constantly moving cards back and forth and sleeved cards do fit as well.

If you're looking storing your foils/money cards I suggest getting a binder instead. Sleeves also help here as well, but I prefer the Monster or DeckTutor binders (if you can find the non knockoff version). They're usually high quality.

For deck boxes, pretty much anything works. You can probably just hop on amazon and search around a bit. I have some more expensive ones that I use just out of preference. Regular old Ultra Pro boxes ususally do the trick, I know they have a pokeball variant as well but I don't know the quality.

I wonder which sleeves you're using? I mean, you probably are truly out of space given the extra big boxes you have there, but i use these for all my card games no double sleeving, just a simple bit of protection and of course makes the cards easier to shuffle. If you're using thicker sleeves, resleeving them to these KMCs would probably save you a significant portion of space in there.

I completely agree, Upperdeck should release a collectors box. I heard they were going to, it was even confirmed in a youtube video where a developer mentions they were working on that, but... where is it?

CMON UPPER DECK WE WANT AN ORGANIZED GAME!

1. I use a brush before every side. Even on clean records.
   
   
2. Keep them standing up, and not leaning on one side or another and you should be fine.
   
   
3. My favorite inner sleeves are the MFSL ones. I've bought two packs of these outer sleeves. I have not had any misshaped sleeves like some of the reviews say. Double LPs and gatefolds do fit, albeit snug.
   
   
4. Yeah that's normal. I don't know why, but new records are ultra static-y and attract paper more than older records. Brush them off, and if that doesn't work then resort to deeper cleaning.
   
   
5. Depends. They're likely dirty, and so to be safe you should deep clean them. But it's not necessary for records that were treated well, stored in a plastic inner and outer sleeve.

Something cool like a custom playmat or a lot of card sleeves. Art prints are nice too, and maybe he'd like some sealed product (a Fat Pack or booster box, for example)

A specific recommendation would be the leather Ultra-Pro deckboxes, they're very nice and hold up to 100 cards in case he plays EDH. Moving on, to answer some of your questions (and to ask some of my own), what sleeves do you recommend? I found these, would they suffice for ultra pro 9 pocket pages? Or do I want something a little thicker? I chose those because they are on the cheaper side, from what I've read review wise, they are also thin, however.

As for how many cards I have right now, none, I'm going to be buying a lot of singles via eBay until I complete my original binder(s) of holos. So I'm completely rebuilding my collection from scratch.

I like them because they fit standard cards perfectly. A lot of sleeves have some space between the card and the sleeve edge... these have virtually no space... very snug fit.

I've got one of these deck boxes and I love it! Some cool playmat would be good too, like this one. Personally I'd rather not just get a card, because those are everywhere. The playmats and deckboxes or even sleeves are where it's at. Maybe even a print of a card?

Although, as everyone else is saying, packs are cool too because of the surprise factor. I'd suggest a combination of one of the above along with a pack or two if possible.

These are like 1mm too short. Sometimes it drives me a bit mad, but again, I would much rather they were protected this much, than not at all. They do get shuffled and used every round. I've seen some people use two sleeves per card to cover it completely, but that's a bit much and they tend to split badly when you attempt it.

I got two of these 1000 card boxes and they work pretty well. I can fit 6 100 card, single sleeved decks and another two 60/75 card decks (1 if I want to use a slot for dice/tokens). If only storing 60/75 card decks, then you should be able to fit somewhere between 9 and 11 decks, depending on how tightly you want to pack the cards in.

These are a nice size for me because I can fit two of the boxes in my backpack.

I've enjoyed storing the gear cards in coin sheets. The location boards, where you get the recipe to craft things, doesn't tell you want the items do. So unless you memorize them, you have to rifle through a lot of gear cards comparing, looking at stats, etc. It's much easier to store them in these sheets, put them in a binder, and be able to see a bunch at once easily.

As an added bonus you can use these for the gear grid - plus they're pretty cheap - from $7.50 on eBay to $9 on Amazon.

What about something like this? Apparently it'll hold something like 6x 60-card decks per row, so up to 12 decks or a bit fewer plus some storage space for dice or whatever. It doesn't have perfect pre-made dividers for each and every section, but getting a slice of cardstock or foamcore to separate different decks in a compartment is trivial.

Another good idea would be to search the /r/magictcg subreddit for "multi-deck boxes" or something like that, since I'm positive the topic has come up on there a few times.

While you may not be pricing the cards, using the pricing guide on tcgplayer.com is a good place to start organizing specific sets. It can also give you a general market value for all conditions as you are organizing. If you see the market value on a specific card is much higher than others in the set, you should consider protecting that one with penny and hard sleeves(or depending on the card, perhaps more than that). If you are going to store your cards in binders, i recommend these sleeves for inside sleeves and these sleeves for the outside soft sleeve prior to putting in a binder like this or like this.

The KMC 1000 is a great buy. Solid and HUGE. Fits a 540 double sleeved + lands pretty well! You can find it here for cheap.

Personal suggestion:

The only cards that will need shuffling are standard size (Hit Locations, AI, Innovations, Disorders, Hunt Events, etc). So it's easy to get sleeves for those. And since they are standard size you can even colour code the sleeves easily.

Settlement Event cards are the only "weird" sized cards that will be shuffled, but you can get around that for now by using dice or a randomizer until someone releases sleeves that size (which are easy to get and don't require a frigging kickstarter pledge).

Gear cards are strange sized, but you won't need to shuffle those. Use something like a "coin protector page" (similar to this) if you wanna protect them while playing.

I use these card sleeves. I love them because they fit perfectly to the card and it doesn't move around inside.

I personally prefer to slip the card in upside down so the top of the card is touching the bottom of the sleeve.

If I'm going to be scanning a lot of cards in my game (or mailing them), I use anything similar to these top loaders.

For a binder I am currently using a few of these ultra pro 4-pocket binders until I have all of the official binders here.

I've used about 20 different sleeves and by far the best bang/buck are KMC Perfect Fits. They are also not as thick making them easier to fit in the box.

Putting them in a binder lets you more easily find a specific card they fit in these sheets even with card sleeves. I bought a nice binder that has slip sleeves in it so that I can store all the rules and skirmish/mission pamphlets along with the sleeved card sheets.The CD case holds any tile 4 spaces wide I keep the larger tiles separate and was able to fit every expansion in the CD case.

I use a KMC Perfect Fit to protect the inside as well as a Dragon Shield clear sleeve for the outer sleeve. It is a bit pricey to use this method but it offers the best protection with a water resistant seal that will not require the mane character to be pulled out every time it flips.

Okay, sounds good. If you're open to spending about $15-20, this box is fantastic. It fit a double-sleeved 540 cube plus 225 basic lands snugly. It'll definitely fit 720 single-sleeved just fine, though you may want to pick up a cardboard box for the basic lands.

I use penny sleeves. I've played about a dozen games since Christmas, and the sleeves are holding up fine. And if they break, they're less than a penny.

Something to consider with a card like Marvel: Legendary is that not all cards are being used all the time. You're only using one mastermind, and those cards are barely shuffled. You're only using 5 heroes out of dozens (with expansions). As a result, your sleeves will hold up a lot longer than, say, playing Magic where the same cards will be shuffled again and again and again.

Yeah I've always thought it would improve any existing commander deck box (like these Ultra Pros), but don't know enough about crafting to make it one for myself.

Well there is miniatures like what Reaper makes that are the standard but alot of people have had luck with finding what is suppose to be like kids toys miniatures and using them as they're exactly getting used in anything that might make them get crushed or broken allowing them to be used and are cheap enough to buy and are usually in bulk.

ebay is a very popular for lots but you don't just get to pick and choose. I recommend looking through walmart or target through the kids isle for like a bucket of miniatures.

This is what i am talking about, simple knight minis for about 7 bucks but you get a bunch.

I love these guys. For 8 bucks plus change you get 36 of them. They are about the right size for a standard gaming mat. They are good for generic enemies, but also have enough variety to differentiate them from each other. Also, half are black and half are grey, which is useful. I like to use one color for mooks and the other color for either allies or special enemies.

For larger enemies my friend use a bunch of the laminate tile samples that she had gotten from Home Depot and glued pictures to them. I'd imagine the same thing could easily be done with cardstock or cardboard.

I do have some actual mini, but we reserve them for player characters.

I really like them since they fit perfectly and snugly around the cards. The ultra pro standards are a little to big for my liking.

Holy hell... that picture on the package... as a side note, my friend and I have both bought these for our box sets and we love them. I sort of feel like you can't play this game without card sleeves, and you can't use the sleeves without a box insert. It's a little expensive, but considering how expensive the base set and ADs are, it's well worth the investment.

I picked up one of these a little while ago. It's a little on the pricey side, but I wanted something nice and largely self contained. It comfortably fits about a hundred sleeved tokens, a double sleeved deck, three single sleeved decks, and a couple of the chessex dice boxes. Velcro dividers inside so it's fairly customizable. It's obviously not going to hold as much as a backpack, so probably not what you're after if you're carrying around a trade binder or lots of peripheral stuff, but I've liked it so far.

they are in a binder, and I have turned the binder upside down and did not have a problem with them falling out as they do fit nicely in the pockets and to get them out you have to push them up from the bottom of the pocket as you can not easily reach in the pocket and pull them out.

as for the size, you need to make sure the pocket size is a little bit over 2 inches as the dials are 2 inches wide. the ones linked are an excellent size. plus 20 pages for $6 is not bad.

It's relatively easy to put things in and take them out. The one caveat is that it's sometimes too easy for parts to fall out. As long as you store your binder and travel with it upright things should be fine.

I know that the quiver comes pretty highly regarded. Bonus that it's designed to be portable.

I wouldn't do it myself. I feel like I would forget about all the games I put in it. Seems like it would be harder to sell people on playing a game without the box for people to see.

i would start by advising some QoL adjustments to his spell sheet - i myself, ESPECIALLY for classes like clerics which have their full spell list, like to color-code things that i can do on a bonus action and/or that take concentration, and ofc mark off anything that's domain, from a feat, from a race, etc so i don't confuse myself when prepping my shit. that on its own can clear up a lot. if i, say, use my action to toll the dead, i'll take a quick scan through my spell sheet, look for the blue dots i used to mark off bonus actions, and maybe throw out a healing word or spiritual weapon. it can also help to make an additional, filtered list of actions, bonus actions, etc that you use commonly - going through your entire spell sheet and character sheet can be overwhelming, so having a condensed list of everything you use frequently in one place can be handy.

i also went ahead and invested in spell cards and card pages to keep them in - having them as a quick reference is handy, i just keep them in the same binder i keep my sheets in and flip to them when i need to make some decisions.

i will say, the main thing that keeps my cleric so busy in combat is his personality. he's VERY protective, always concerned about his party members, so when i play him in combat, i'm usually trying frantically to make the most of my turn to that effect. i'll use sanctuary on the utility-focused bard and use my movement to get in front of everyone to take hits, or healing word the barbarian while using my action to pry the monk out of a monster's grip, to use some examples from my last session. obviously that kind of thing is gonna differ from character to character, but he could try, if he hasn't already, thinking about what specifically his character wants to accomplish in the average combat, and from there, think every turn about how to best use the tools available to achieve that goal.

25 of each is safe, 30 is ultra safe. I keep my 430 plus 150 lands, almost 100 tokens, and dice very comfortably in the KMC barrier box. My cube is still in the original I got in 2013 and my others are in them as well.

If you are worried about space or you want to overprotect your cards, like if you play daily, I would suggest putting on the KMC Perfect Fit sleeves and then putting your Dragon Shields on. Matte Dragon Shields aren't quite as tough as the original, but they feel better when shuffling. Very comparable to KMC.

My personal recommendation would be "KMC Hyper Mat", spelled exactly like that as shown here. If your option is KMC but says Matte instead of Mat it isn't a fake product or anything, but it's not as good of an option so I'd recommend the Dragon Shields instead.

One additional thing to consider is double sleeving. If you have only a single set of sleeves and swap the decks inside, that does put a little bit of wear on the cards each time. Inner sleeves are a lot cheaper than regular sleeves, so you can put inner sleeves on all your used cards and swap out which ones are in the main sleeve as often as you'd like. It's not something you need to bother with right away, but it's a small optimization if you want to keep your cards pristine for as long as possible without spending as much. Also protects the cards from water damage.

I recently started a campaign and bought a sack of cheap, plastic minis to get our group started. Here's what I found on Amazon: 36 pieces for $7 and they fit my 1"x1" grid maps very well. Link

These are just knights of varying types, but there's enough there for my four PCs (bows for rangers, swords for melee types) and they can tell them apart.

In a pinch they make good stand-ins for monsters too. If you trawl through Amazon, there's plenty of "50 piece plastic skeletons" lots for under $10. They are the quality of little green army men, but they do the job well at a bargain-basement price.

Dragon Shields and KMC are regarded pretty highly over in the /r/MagicTCG community. I own some KMC Hyper-Mattes and the quality is great.

Neither are the cheapest of options, mind you, but I think they're worth the investment.

On the cheaper tier, apparently UltraPro Mattes are pretty decent.

Mixing all the cards together isn't an issue the core cards have the stormtrooper annotation on the bottom right of the card. Shouldn't matter mixing them in. Just make sure you don't mix them in mid campaign (unless everyone is cool with that).

Putting them in a binder lets you more easily find a specific card they fit in these sheets even with card sleeves. The CD case holds any tile 4 spaces wide I keep the larger tiles separate and was able to fit every expansion in the CD case.

I normally use a thick sleeve idk what they are called bit they are normally a solid color or have a picture on them. And place it in a top loader.

Normally it's like 200 for 12$ on Amazon for non brand picture sleeves.

I just use old binder I used when I was kid or your can just go to any office supply store and get three ring binders for a few dollars.

For Dominion, I don't know about snap together boxes but I use KMC Card Boxes for mine. One box fits three regular sized expansions. This is great when you don't own all the expansions or if you want a modular solution.

Amazon have them but sadly the prices aren't great. I've came across the same problem as you're having too. For now I've ordered a 3-ring binder along with pocket pages and also some sleeves. The sleeves and pocket pages arrived a couple of days ago and the sleeves fit perfectly into the pocket pages. I'm still waiting on the binder but I'm looking forward to it. Least this'll keep my cards safe until I get my hands on albums.

I use one of these Harbor Freight cases. The foam is perforated into squares so you can remove it to make custom spots for deck boxes. For my standard and modern decks, I made individual slots for deck boxes to fit.

For my commander decks, I removed all of the foam except one layer around the end and one divider up the middle. Then pop 2 of the KMC Card Box 1000's in there and it holds 16 decks pretty perfectly.

It's super simple to make! The bobble head figure is about $9 on amazon. Cut out the plastic in the top of the head and removed the spring mechanism from the bottom. Used the cut-out from the top to plug the hole in the bottom and secured it all with hot glue. Then just bought a $2 miniature succulent plant from the grocery store and transferred it in. The plant looked like this one.

I'm a little paranoid Moviepass will require me to produce an old ticket stub or receipt so I've saved every single one thus far. I figured I might as well make it look nice if I'm going to be saving them anyways. Could be fun to reflect on my movie watching adventure if Moviepass ever ends up dying.

I've shipped a full collection in multiple 800 card boxes (see https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FO802R4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_d30UzbSG4XTXN for an example) with no problems. Mine were sleeved with penny sleeves so that helps protect them but isn't required. The main thing is to make sure the boxes are full enough that cards have limited movement inside. I put a little bubble wrap around them as well.

For dice, I received a Destiny collection by mail and the dice fit nicely in small bubble wrap bags or, alternatively, in zip lock bags with a layer of bubble wrap around them. Again the goal is to fill the bags so there's little room for the dice to bounce around.

2nding the BCW boxes. I bought a bunch of them and printed out dividers and they work wonderfully.

I ended up getting the 800 count boxes. With nightmare cards, you can easily store 2 full cycles in one box. Without nightmare cards, you can store 3.

800 is also nice for player cards as you're able to store all of them in two boxes. I have green and red (and the ring/bilbo cards) in one box, and blue, purple, and neutral in the other.

You can get 10 boxes on Amazon for $16. That's been enough so far to store all the cards including anything upcoming from the Rhovanion cycle.

My cards don't slide around at all. They're very snug in the sleeve. I can take a picture for you, if you'd like.

While this is neat, I still prefer the "tried and true" method of just re-using Dragon Shield boxes (<-- edit: added a photo of my Cube):

  Super simple, no wasted paper, just re-purposed sleeve boxes. I use a Quiver (love this thing) to tote my Cube around, and so it fits real nice. I use a 9th box for dice. The boxes are also a surprise way to slip some boosters into each "booster" for players on special occasions (birthdays, parties, etc).

I"m paranoid. I keep the paperwork in the Baseball card boxes that are cheap. Stick a years worth in 2 boxes. I've only been doing about 2years+, but plan on 7 years since that's what IRS can go back.

I was thinking of trying to scan with NEAT or something, but it really doesn't take much space and if IRS ever audits me, see's these extra 200-300k deposits a year, I have paperwork to back me up.

I would not use Amazon, I paid 39.90 for 50 boxes couple years ago.

Well it won't work for the manuals but I keep mine in a binder using the trading card sleeves. You can fit 2 per slot, or 18 per page.

Edit: You can also fit one GB/GBC cart per slot if you have any of those to store as well.

I use a couple of these, though seeing as I live in Japan they're less than half that price. I can carry 10-11 regular decks (single sleeved) in one of these.

Edit: Ah, I just reread your post where you stated that you wanted a way to carry your existing, pre-boxed stuff. This box isn't so good for that, but if you don't mind just using dividers to separate your decks then it's a pretty good box to carry a number of decks in.

I use the classic KMC perfect size inner sleeves. They hold the card very snug, so they fit in most normal sleeves.

They're generally sold for about $5.99 for 100 sleeves, but I've gotten deals on Amazon for buying bulk.

Actually, I use the perfect size sleeves for a lot of single-sleeving, since they're so tight to the card and are completely translucent on both sides. All of my trade foils are inside them to prevent scratching, and to act as an inner sleeve in the binder page pockets.

Personally I use the Ultimate guard classic twin flip and tray deck boxes as they comfortably store my 2 double sleeved decks w/ full extra & side and have a draw for odd stuff like counters and dice. but to be honest if you only used single sleeved decks and used a shared pool of extra and side deck cards they you should be able to squeeze in 4 decks. But if your insistant on carryying 8 decks in a single box then one of your few options is the quiver.

I love sleeving cards for my games! Love the feel and I actually double sleeve (these then these for regular sized cards) and generally do it while it while watching TV some night, so it's not like I have to give up time to sleeve.

I always used these for my binder as double sleeves and I love them, but I find it kinda hard to shuffle with them sometimes and they kind of slide off PC white easily as well.

KMCs are ones that Magic players use and should work well as inner sleeves for double sleeving. My personal preference is to use KMC Hyper Mattes and over KMC perfect sleeves for inners.

I only have 1 deck at the moment, however I have a few yugioh decks and [this] works absolutely wonderfully. It comes with several velcro dividers that can keep your decks separate,

You can always just buy penny sleeves. Here is 500 sleeves for 6.85 they are fairly low quality which should be apparent by the price, but they will help preserve them a little bit. They also are a lot easier to work with than laminating as well.

I like them because they're slightly textured on the back and not as slippery as other sleeves. The cards fit very nicely in them.

I just stocked up on DS games at a store that used coin collecting binder pages for their thousands of cartridges.

Carts are pretty hardy, so you could conceivably keep them in a simple cosmetic bag. Lots of cute ones on Etsy that aren't pink satin. I crocheted two drawstring pouches for my boyfriend and I to use for our collections. Of course, with that large of a collection it would take forever to find the cart you want.

I'd say look into the coin collecting stuff for now. Maybe you can find half size binder pages somewhere that would be more portable.

BCW boxes. You can find them at card shops all over. Sometimes shops that focus on sports cards (baseball, etc) can be cheaper on these. I have read the 5000 count boxes can't handle the weight that well so I always stuck with 3200 and below. I have all sorts of sizes and never had any issues. Most everyone uses these boxes in some capacity.

Probably is above the budget but KMC has a Card Barrier Box 1000 that is very nice for sleeved cards. I use those for most my better cards that I keep sleeved.
