The IngenuiTEA is pretty great for a starter infuser. That's what I got when I first began exploring loose tea. Mine has mostly been replaced by actual teapots these days, but I do still use it on occasion to brew a cup to go. Tons of room for your tea to expand, the strainer is nice and fine so you don't get sediment, and it's easy to clean up. I got the 32oz. one because the price difference was negligible, but it depends on if you see yourself sharing with anyone or not. This Hario teapot is what replaced mine, and I absolutely love it, so there's another option for you to think about.

As for kettle, you may just wanna go with something cheap to start out and just use a kitchen thermometer to get it to the right temp (that's what I did for a long time). Temperature control is good, but that one isn't very big. If you decide to get some nice teapots down the road, you may end up having to replace it with something bigger anyway.

Not sure what to tell you about for a cup, it just depends on your needs... how long does it need to stay hot, does it have to completely seal, etc. The ones that come with infusers shouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker. Most infusers are removable and may come in handy some day. This one is on my wish list (I have a different one by the same company that is great but can't vouch for this actual one).

For tea, Adagio is a great place to start, that's what I did. They have lots of little 4-pack samplers that are awesome. Verdant still has their $5 for 5 samples deal which is pretty hard to beat, although some of their stuff may not necessarily be geared towards beginners.

Congrats on the new job! I'm starting a new job next week, although not as glamorous, as a lifeguard so that should be interesting :)

Will your whole family be moving in with you at the hotel? Or is it just you staying there while you work? Just curious!

I decided to pick a couple of things that add up to 30, if that's not ok I can change it. I stalked a little and saw that you were trying to get healthier, so I think this is really important to have, because getting enough water is a really important part of being healthy. I have recently started leading healthier lifestyle and I carry my tumbler around everywhere I go so I always have water to drink and I'm not tempted to drink soda etc. Secondly, if your work allows it, i think this fan is a really good idea to have, because I know lobbies can get really warm and standing most of the day can make you sweat. No one enjoys being more uncomfortable than they have to be at work.

If the two items isn't ok i think this lumbar support cushion would be your best bet, I'm not sure if your work would allow it but it has some amazing reviews and could hopefully lessen a bit of the back pain you're feeling

This zumba cd would be my choice for myself :) or this juicing book

Thanks for the contest! and good luck at work :)

u/DaGoodBoy · 3 pointsr/tea

My ritual includes the following items which make tea at work for me:

  • The electric kettle
  • The personal tea mug
  • The meeting tea pot

This is the best $60 I ever spent. These are my favorite teas I can recommend:

  • Ahmad Barooti Assam - for the mornings
  • Rooibos - A root tea popular in Africa, also called "bush tea" for the afternoons

Boil water, steep and drink! I usually load up on the tea and steep for about 5 minutes because I like my tea strong. The Nissan Thermos is the best insulated mug I've ever owned. It has kept my tea hot for about 4 hours with the lid on. Absolutely amazing.
u/shortarmed · 2 pointsr/Thritis

I'm a little late to this party, but I have a couple of yeti tumblers that work great for me when my hands are a mess.

A non screwing rubber gasket holds the top on, and the part that switches open/closed is magnetic and super easy to operate. There is a tab that I can press against the edge of the counter to open the top on days where I can't grasp it. whole thing is very easy to clean, too. Absolutely worth the price.

This is the one.

u/lifeislame · 22 pointsr/tea

I CAN BE SO USEFUL TODAY!!!

The Libre Tea Mug has the exact same design as the mug you describe, but has glass on the inside, and plastic on the outside. Here's a video. There's a 10 oz version and a 14 oz version, and a 9.5 oz handled version.

However, I bought one of these and decided it's not the best thing in the universe. There were plenty of good things about it, but it had some flaws:

  1. It won't keep drinks hot for very long, because plastic & glass apparently don't keep things as warm as stainless steel (not sure if this is totally accurate), but you also have to remove the lid every time you drink, and it's all the way open, as opposed to a sippy lid or other designs that have small holes or whatever, and lots of heat escapes. It also means that you get a face full of steam every time you try to drink.

  2. When brewing black tea, you stick the leaves in between the two top lids (see video) and brew upside down. However, when you turn it upside down, the surface tension of the water actually retains the ENTIRE volume of water that was in the lid. Seriously. I don't know what the deal is. This happens even with zero tea leaves. This means that when you remove the two lids to drink (you need to remove both lids simultaneously if it's black tea, since the leaves are between the two lids), there's still lots of boiling hot water in the lid, and if you tap it, or bump it, or angle it, all that water falls out. You really have to tap the lid to dump this excess water before you drink; if you don't, you run the risk of spilling lots of hot water all over yourself. Someday you'll forget, and probably burn yourself.

    Aesthetic problems:

  3. You can hear the plastic creaking against the glass, and it makes it seem cheap. Purely psychological, but it probably could be fixed.

  4. The larger size and the handled mug version have the company's website printed address on the side of the lid. Pretty ugly in my opinion.

  5. The lid has a picture, but it's a physical object (a tiny carving or something) and it actually moves. It's somehow not secured in place, and it moves off center and looks awkward and cheap. Plus, I can see a couple parts of it bent the wrong way.

I can't really recommend it, but if you've used the Activitea and found it usable, you might be happy with the Libre. The design looks pretty much the same from the photos, as far as I can tell. But I have continued searching for the perfect tea mug.

    Contenders thus far:

  6. JoeMoXL: Entirely stainless steel, with a removable infuser basket, a push-button seal, 360 degree drinking, sipping that doesn't require removing the entire lid and draining heat away, leak proof, etc etc. Good stuff.

  7. Timolino infuser mug: Theoretically similar to the JoeMoXL, but no push-button seal, and the infuser basket has some plastic. Oh well though. Adds a hidden compartment in the very top lid where you can store sugar. Smaller than most travel mugs (12 oz instead of the usual 16), so I think it's more practical to fill up, drink, then fill again and get a 2nd steeping out of the tea, as opposed to 16 oz over the course of the day and then getting home or whatever and not making use of the leaves until the next day maybe. There's also a carabiner version. Note that Timolino makes 2 tea mugs; this one, plus another that is ONLY good for green tea, with the leaves steeping inside the main chamber, with no removable infuser basket.

I've been shopping around for quite some time. These are the two winners as far as I am concerned, though they skip out on being see-through and hiding the tea in the lid, but I can't see any well-designed options out there with those traits (although this Thermos mug has the infuser in the lid, but I wasn't so excited about it), so I'm giving my seal of approval to these. There are other contenders I think, but these are equal or better compared to anything I can find. I might also just go with a Contigo and brew in a teapot and just deal with the fact that the mug has no internal tea infuser.

    OCD FTW!
u/carissalf · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'll pick this because life just loves to fuck me over. And this because I love poetry and would love to be happy right now.

This tea tumbler would be most wonderfully appreciated.

Thank you for the contest.

u/littlefuckbunny · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This is my favorite tea cup. A few years ago, when my Grandmother found out that one of my favorite sounds is the clink of a tea cup against it's saucer, she decided that I would inherit one of her sets when she died. She allowed me to take one, though, so I could still hear my sound whenever I wanted. <3 I don't drink out of it often because it's not as big as I'd like, but I can't wait to have tea parties with the set one day.
I am OBSESSED with getting one of these because I LOVE LOVE loose leaf tea and this makes it so much more convenient and travel-friendly because THERE'S A STRAINER BUILT INTO IT. So cool, omg. Also, the double walled glass will help keep your tea hot or cold (I am a new fan of iced tea, btw) for much longer.
Of all the silly nonsense, this is the stupidest tea party I've ever been to in all my life!
What's your favorite tea, RAOA?

u/raindropsandroses · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Gifting is fun and this contest is awesome. I've got some variety on my Christmas wish-list.

Okay, first, we're going to the electronics. My tablet, named Tabby, is naked. She needs to be a bit more modest with this sassy, but classy, red cover.

Alright now we're getting a little thirsty and it's time to take a quick water break. What's that? You've got a glass but you need a STRAW?? I got choo covered, my friend.

Alright alright back to the list. It's tiiiiiiiiime for some detective work, Watson! Let's look for something for my/our messy hair. 'Cause we look a right, but oh-so-wrong, wreck.

AND boom! The total comes to 19.99 and we've got a penny left over for good luck!

u/RowieMonster · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I've decided to go to college and I filled out all my financial aid all by myself. :) I am so proud, yay! :)

I am flabbergasted at how wonderful you are!

I am an avid tea drinker, so this tea tumbler would be awesome! :)

u/TuiLa · 1 pointr/tea

Some that I know of:

Number One - Good price, great insulation (Thermos brand), but the basket is pretty tiny

Number Two - I've heard good things in general about Davids Tea's selection, lots of options

Number Three - Heard a lot of praise for these, but not sure if /u/puerh_lover will be getting any more in stock

Number Four - These are also nice pieces, only one here that I have had experience with personally. Basket on this one is on the smaller end to, but its not too tiny

Hope this helps!

Well I'm a bit late, but HAPPY BELATED CAKEDAY!!!!

I like surprises, but since you asked...Tumbler Infuser!

u/the_skyis_falling · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon
  1. This because F drinking out of a fancy glass. I would be able to walk around in public getting sloshed and no one would be the wiser...Until I fell or flashed my boobs.

  2. Because animals eat this stuff for reals. I think that is how the scarecrow in Wizard of Oz lost his brains. Those evil evil rabbits and birds.

  3. I don't need no stinking "hold all the heat in, til my head feels like a sauna" hat thing. I prefer cute bandanas and these for keeping cooler and my hair out of my nose and eyes. Sexy I know.

  4. Books are paper filled with smart stuff, money is paper filled with power and importance.

  5. I put these on my car to decorate the trunk of my car where indecently trunks could go.

  6. I would use this to perfectly fasten my cape so I it would look awesome and hopefully not catch on anything and potentially kill me.

Thanks so much for all you and your co-magical people are doing. This is awesome.

The personal blender and infuser bottle would probably be the most help for me in the immediate future. :) Great contest!

I'll bet 1 Rams fan, that the 49ers beat the Rams Monday Night.

The wager? RTIC Stainless steel Can Koozie. I figure reguardless of the outcome, both sides will have good reason to drink this season. I already own one and it's awesome, could use a spare or would be happy to buy it for someone else as a gift if we lose.

No soup for you!

I like my meat grilled medium rare.

And the person I'd like to have dinner with is /u/wee-pixie because I feel like her accent would be fun to listen to, and also her eating noodles with a fork would be fun to watch in person. :P

I think this is kitchen related.

u/mgulley08 · 3 pointsr/BravoRealHousewives

I don't think they were Mason jars. Just doesn't make sense to take in a car. (Glass and alcohol? Yikes!)

Nissan travel mugs are the best. THE BEST. I've used two different ones, and they have both astounded me. My coffee will sit in a cold winter car for 24 hours, and still be warm. Not even close to hot, mind you, but warm to the tongue. It literally defies reason.

GET A NISSAN TRAVEL MUG and never go back.

Edit: Apparently they are owned by Thermos? These are the two I've used...

u/TreasureBandit · 2 pointsr/tea

I use this one and I really like it. The flip top is easy to operate with one hand.

u/LuckyBahamut · 2 pointsr/Coffee

I mostly drink straight espressos and cappuccinos, so I have a couple of demitasse cups (one ceramic and one [glass](https://www.amazon.ca/Duralex-Picardie-4- Ounce-Clear-Tumbler/dp/B001CQEY3K)), a couple of notNeutral LINO cappuccino cups, and one nN 8oz cup.

Most guests I have over, however, prefer drinks 12ozs and up, so I just direct them to my "all-purpose" mug cabinet.

I love the notNeutral LINO lineup, but they're super expensive here in Canada now (like $15 apiece) unless I can get them through a restaurant supply store in Vancouver.

These wine cups are pretty cool and would likely be appreciated!

u/meeme109 · 3 pointsr/tea

Not negligibly, especially with larger leaf teas. The design of that particular mug above doesn't seem too great, I might go with something more like this: http://www.amazon.com/Trudeau-Mendous-Tumbler-Clear-16-Ounce/dp/B003LJX0MW/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1407120848&sr=8-6&keywords=tea+travel+mug

All that being said, I would say the best place to start with loose leaf tea would be to buy one of these: http://www.adagio.com/gifts/holiday_ingenuiTEA.html You get a nice infuser that you could just decant into a travel mug or whatever, and it comes with a few teas to try. Adagio is a solid tea company to get your feet wet.

u/teachmetonight · 4 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

> I fell into Amazon and got lost.

I feel that on a spiritual level.

For a thermos, I have this one and I really like it. You have to push a little button to drink from it, so there's no risk of spilling, and it's easy to clean.

I also have this one which is great if you need it to stay warm for a while or if you want your cold drinks to stay cold. You might need a little sleeve for it if you're going to put hot drinks in it, though. It's a knockoff of those ridiculously expensive Yeti cups, but it's about a third of the price and works just as well.

u/webdevic · 2 pointsr/espresso

I love Duralex.

Cat proof wine glasses. :P Seriously though, I understand. Cats are dumb! Mine knocked a bottle of hot sauce off the counter when I was gone one time, and I came back to him playing with a shard of the glass! They don't know any better.

That sounds like heaven!!! Starbucks in Barnes and Noble doesn't quite cut it.

u/NE556 · 1 pointr/tea

Fair enough. After a quick look, looks like they have a different style lie https://www.amazon.com/Suns-Tea-Spill-proof-Double-wall-Borrosilicate/dp/B005X1R1FI which may be more to your liking. The top may not last particularly well in the dishwasher, not sure, but the rest of it certainly will.

u/snowfey · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I love food! The weirdest thing I've ever eaten was fish eggs. Surprisingly, they don't have much taste to them. I think they just provide texture to whatever you put them on.

I need straws!!

u/prettiestwhistle · 1 pointr/tea

I use this one and completely love it. I've tried others and nothing has worked so well. It has two separate pieces, one infuser and one sipping top, so you just swap them out when your tea is done brewing.

u/KTHD · 6 pointsr/drunk

Well go on, friend! Get your sippy cup on!

u/mushywax · 2 pointsr/pics

When you said tea making facilities I thought you meant something like this. I didn't realize you meant tea cup and saucer + teapot + tea leaves in a tin. I am very impressed.

u/pockified · 4 pointsr/tea

What I personally do is make a big batch of cold brew tea overnight, and then pour the cold brewed tea into my desired container that morning (I use a french press for cold brewing). You could also grandpa-style your tea in a tumbler for teas with large leaves like oolong. That way, the tea leaves are weighed down.

There are also containers like this, which have a filter at a top and keep the tea leaves suspended in the water. That way when you drink it, you don't have tea leaves in your way.

u/Adrian_Tek · 3 pointsr/3Dprinting

u/broken_ship · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Oh my gosh, that sounds terrifying!

The worst is when you've already eaten it. I once left a glass of... I think it was juice, on my nightstand overnight. When I woke up the next morning I took a few swigs. It wasn't until I had already finished half the glass that I noticed there were fruit flies in the glass (it was just as my apartment had developed a problem with them). God only know how many I swallowed.

Now, unless its something hot, I drink all of my beverages in a screw top cup with a straw. Those plastic things are expensive, but I'm paranoid. /u/musicAlly told me about these amazing wine glasses that I need to invest in. They're my new favorite thing.

u/TeaMinded · 1 pointr/tea

I've too have been using the Trudeau and really enjoying it. Primary reasons being that it's BPA-free (important to me) and double-walled (equally important)-- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003LJX0MW/?tag=team072-20

u/WhoIsPurpleGoo · 2 pointsr/Coffee

i used to use a contingo autoseal, but the plastics in the lid definitely affected the taste of the coffee so i switched to this instead.

it looks awesome, but it might not be the best option for a travel mug (amazon had to ship it twice, first one was shattered). your coffee touches nothing but glass, so it has no effect on the taste.

u/Pinalope4Real · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

There is the Sun's Tea 18oz Glass Tea Tumbler with Strainer. The strainer is more made for loose tea, but there is also an option to buy a stainer specifically for a tea bag. But this is the simplest, yet most effective one I have used.

u/Toswin · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I was not a huge fan of water before I got pregnant. I went and bought a 24oz reusable plastic cup with a lid and straw much like this one

http://www.amazon.com/Copco-Sierra-24-Ounce-Tumbler-Purple/dp/B003H9NIUU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371073577&sr=8-1&keywords=24oz+reusable+cup

I fill it to the top with Ice and then put the water in. I find that I can stomach more water the colder it is (which may be why you like it after its been in the fridge, warm water makes my stomach turn). When I run out of water I get up and refill and pee (since by the time I finish it its time to pee again). My husband shakes his head at how much Ice I have gone through in a month but I told him "It's cheaper than baby boy's braces will be someday, so shut it!"

u/Mcnugget84 · 4 pointsr/BabyBumps

I have an RTIC that was a Christmas gift with my name on it, and we got these straws and together I always have something to drink. I think I am going to order another one, to keep one at my chair and one by the bed. They don't need a lot of ice to keep drinks cold all day.

tbh, any epoxy will do for most situations except for hot beverages, but it's definitely not 100% safe as some of the chemicals will still leach. No, they won't kill you but I'd say there is no need to add to the chemicals we are already fed on a daily basis.

Why not get a stainless steel cup and use it as a liner inside a wooden mug, like this one or similar.

u/renational · 1 pointr/tea

wow, that aladdin page is terrible marketing
no photo where the tea basket goes, water fills, etc.
it just looks like a double insulated plastic cup with lid.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10_xRQPFKYE
BTW this demo person lies about a 2 hour warm time,
that duration is simply not possible with 2 wall plastic.
2 wall is to protect your hand, not keep the tea warm.

http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-12-Ounce-Stainless-Steel-Tumbler-Infuser/dp/B00004S1CV
to keep tea hot 2hrs you need a "travel mug" which is
basically a heat sink metal surrounded by insulation.
i don't like this product either, because combining
seeping and travel mug is a bad idea. you should
make your tea, then carry it in an insulated tube,
two steps two vessels.

u/pm_me_purplesocks · 1 pointr/tea

I think either of those options would be great - especially with your time predicament. Also, just to add something to the mix - we got our guys Yeti tumblers and they have all raved about them since the wedding (we also put a gift card in them for a fancy dude beard/haircut place). I'm not sure what your budget is, but there are tons of other brands too that would be just as functional. They can be used for hot or cold drinks and I'm not sure what stores are around you, but they are sold at Cabelas/Bass Pro yeti

I have that one. It's great, and keeps liquid so warm that I usually have to let it sit open for a while to even make it drinkable. The only problem for me is that the filter is a separate piece and if you want to keep your leaves for a second resteep then that means finding a place to store it in your bag/backpack when its hot and wet. Thats why I'm considering buying the below one.

I use this one and like it a lot.

I like my tea the temperature of the sun and ceramic can never hold heat long enough. A double-walled stainless steel thermos is where it's at.

I'm curious if they consulted with u/kingseven on this product or just used the youtube video.

I use the Duralex Picardie glasses for espresso, 6 for $14.

My wife has the Nissan Thermos 12-oz tea tumbler amazon link. It does have an infuser basket which is why we got it, as we usually drink loose tea. It has very efficient gaskets in the lid & infuser and will never leak (if the lid's on correctly, which can be tricky). The only drawback is that the volume is a bit small.

Hi!

PSA: Do you like those [wine sippy cups] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009T8KCV6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1409872852&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40)?

You can get those bad boys at the Dollar Tree for $1.

Yeah.

(Sorry for the link mods. Is that still an issue?)

Perhaps you should invest in a wine sippy cup ;)

This is the one I have that I really like http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-12-Ounce-Stainless-Steel-Tumbler-Infuser/dp/B00004S1CV. The lid isn't meant to be a strainer lid but it can totally be used that way!

It’s not perfect, but this has been one of my favorite tumblers:

Thermos 12-Ounce Stainless-Steel Tea Tumbler with Infuser (Discontinued by Manufacturer) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004S1CV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bE6uDbCD2RPSA

It keeps the water at scalding and has two inner lids to choose from. The strainer lid is for me too small to do a regular steep, so I will either pre-steep, pour in, and use the standard drink lid, or add the leaf directly to the tumbler and drink using the strainer lid.

Just go out and buy a cheap kettle ($10 or so) and keep it in your room/kitchen. I used to fill mine up from the bathroom sink I had in my room. Makes tea at breakfast time, and makes the water for instant noodles at lunchtime. And then at dinnertime it makes the water for instant noodles again.

Ninja edit: This was with simple tea bags but you can get thermos cups with loose leaf mesh things that fit inside. You can take your thermos of tea to your 8am class that way (I've put mine on my bike and ridden 25 mins to uni and the tea was still hot)

For example: http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-12-Ounce-Stainless-Steel-Tumbler-Infuser/dp/B00004S1CV

If I may add, get one of these too:

https://www.amazon.com/RTIC-Stainless-Steel-Cooler-12oz/dp/B01DMYISEA

Will keep your drink icy cold.

I found a few:

  • one
  • two
  • three

Most fancy tea ware is overpriced but there seem to be many options here.

These are the ones I got 3-1/8 oz glasses - bigger ones available.

I use this one.

It is the same one that they sell at Teavanna, but isn't as nice a color. However, it is much cheaper, so there is that.

I want this for those lazy afternoons at the pool... there are tons of little kids around, so this is perfect for being slightly subtle and protecting my drink/glassware. BINGO!

u/kai288 · 1 pointr/BlackPeopleTwitter

I fill it up before bed. Always a cold swig in the middle of the night. I've given up bottled water since it cools off too quickly. I take this thing with me everywhere. Warm water is the worst.

Vin2Go, sort of like a coffee travel mug but for getting drunk.
