Hey u/jimmy_007vn,

Assuming you're talking about this PSU. If you are, this PSU can power 3 Vega cards and whatever risers you'd need. The risers will be connected to the SATA rails that come from the PSU.

Currently there are 3 types of risers:

Molex/SATA

SATA/6-pin

SATA

All three of these types of risers will be connected to the PSU rails directly. You don't need to buy a pin converter. You'll just need two power supplies and a power supply connector so that you can run 6 cards.

I have personally tested the Molex/SATA and the SATA risers, and I personally like the SATA risers. The Molex/SATA risers have melted twice on me, causing two GPUs to ruin themselves(this occured at different times). The SATA only riser is currently the best I have used. I have not had a melting issue like I did with Molex/SATA. I have bought some of the newer 6-pin risers to test after reading that they are supposedly safer than previous riser types.

The electricity used by the risers will be negligible, and you don't have to worry about overloading your 1000w PSU.

I hope this helped.

What mini? If it has a thunderbolt/mini dvi port just use that port to get an adapter from it to dvi. Seems like your huge chain of changers could be the issue too.

Try an SMC reset of your mini too while you’re at it.

One thing about HDMI, it can introduce copy protection into the chain and am wondering if using that port is making the Mac think it’s an unsupported display.

I’m not sure why Catalina would be different but reset PRAM and SMC (look up on Apple support page) and of that doesn’t fix it then try reducing the number of port changers you have in the chain

Here’s one i found on Amazon if your mini has thunderbolt 3 usb 3.1;

USB Type C(Thunderbolt 3) to DVI Adapter, Benfei USB 3.1 (USB-C) to DVI-D Adapter Male to Female Converter Compatible for Apple New MacBook [2015,2016,2017] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0768RFQ83/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mVLSDb2K2GNGV

I have no idea how good it is, just did a random search.

I use a variation of these to run 12 gpus. They work: https://www.amazon.com/Ports-Super-Speed-Adapter-Board/dp/B076VNYVWG/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1518037772&sr=8-8&keywords=pcie+1x+to+4

Only hitch is the bios has to support above 4g decoding

Also, what motherboard? If you are interested in selling maybe I'll some/all from you for like $10ea.

Apple doesn't support 2 external monitors natively for the Airs, but
DisplayLink offers a solution over USB. Displaylink is used in Dell USB docks, too.

Be warned:

  • This is lower performance than thunderbolt/native ports

  • DisplayLink drivers for mac have been known to break during OS updates. No solution other than downgrading or waiting (months) for a fix. Make sure to keep regular backups

Edit: For best performance, buy one of these displaylink adapters (USB-C for air 2018+, USB-A 3.0 for air 2012-2017) and one thunderbolt adapter (USB-C for air 2018+, mini displayport for air 2008-2017).

Just picked a couple of these up for our Help Desk: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRE92OO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_lhAaBbNQP184S

It works well, the HDMI is nice if you ever wanted to hook up to anything more modern, too!

u/madgame1230 · 1 pointr/Alienware

So i stand corrected, these display adapters have been improved with time (shocking, right?! :))

This one displays up to 1440p - it's USB 3.0 Type A to HDMI. I don't have a clue what refresh rate the adapter supports but if you do a little bit of digging you should be able to find out with relative ease:
https://www.amazon.com/CableCreation-SuperSpeed-2560x1440-Compatible-Resolution/dp/B013G4CHD4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1501860336&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=usb+to+HDMI&psc=1

Here you go. There can be minor latency issues with video and other high-throughput audio-synced uses, but it's great if you're just looking at text.

u/geeroc07 · 6 pointsr/Mi9T

It does work, I bought these dongles and it worked on my tv... Even in my 2015 crv se.

You need displaylink presenter installed on your phone. It can be downloaded from play store.

Happy?

u/suuuuuu · 1 pointr/Surface

I got this, which works, but there's something wrong with the frame rate or Hz or whatever - the display is quite noticeably sluggish. This is in contrast to the same monitor through a Surface Dock, which is flawless. I don't care all that much, since I don't game, but it would be nice to find a better one. I just liked that it had HDMI and VGA, the only two I'd need for travel (conference presentations, etc).

u/Scrapshark · 2 pointsr/GooglePixelC

Screen scratches are an issue for sure, a nice glass screen protector is highly recommended.

I use this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019YVR526

u/hoodyracoon · 1 pointr/hackintosh

scrath this link, thats actually hdmi 1.4 so same issue sorry

well you can "try" something like this might work, or might just be 8$ down the drain, it would be best if you could,

  1. test dp even works on your hack

    2)test resolutions above 1080p@60hz

    but its worth a shot

u/E466069 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

I bought a brand new one but wouldn't have any issues going with a refurb...you may have some physical blemishes but they should be minor scuffs, if any.

What happens is that you can get a brand new computer from the apple store and return it within 15 days. At that point they can't sell it as new so it goes back and they clean it, inspect it and certify it.

Another thing would be having to buy a video cord in case you want to work with a larger screen. You would need HDMI, DVI, or VGA but the cost is minimal!

Let me know, either here or PM, if you have further questions.

Mobo - Biostar Motherboard TB250-BTC

CPU - Intel 3.70 GHz Core i3-6100

Risers - Mailiya 6-Pack PCIe Dual Chip PCI-E 16x to 1x Powered Riser Adapter Card w/ 60cm USB 3.0 Extension Cable & 6 Pin PCI-E to SATA Power Cable

PSU - Corsair AXi Series, AX1200i

On the motherboard, you can fiddle with all the BIOS settings regarding mining, etc. I got hung up because I chose "6 cards" for mining. It did a weird POST screen and wouldn't boot. I put it on "More than 6" and it works fine (even though I only have 6).

On the Power Supply, you can just get any PSUs or any 1200W. I did notice it was pulling just over 1000W the other night but I didn't check which algorithm it was doing. There is another Corsair 1200W for $50 less than mine. I don't know the difference, but it wasn't available when I ordered, so I just threw down for $300.

Good luck! Let me know if you run into trouble and I'll look at my settings or whatever.

u/MacStation · 2 pointsr/garlicoin

This is what a riser looks like, and then generally you get custom cases like this, although I generally build cases with the same design.

u/owenthegreat · 1 pointr/EtherMining

I have 3 different types, one of which seems to be about the same as the first one you linked.
The second type is similar, but in red, and the third is the exact ones your second link points to.
I'm not sure why our experiences would differ like this, though there is probably a good bit of variation between superficially similar risers.
I'll do some more fiddling with my rig that uses the first type of riser. I don't think it'll change much, because I've always tried to use the VGA power cords when possible, exactly because I have been concerned about overloading SATA connectors.

u/homad · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I can confirm that this one works [however, I use it with a usb a-c OTG adapter].https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B013G4CJM8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You want to make sure it has

Display Link Chipset

and if it doesn't work outta the box just get the display link app and give that a gohttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.displaylink.presenter&hl=en

u/CA_TD_Investor · 1 pointr/EtherMining

Any room for an addon like this M.2 Pci e or maybe something like this

u/XScizor · 1 pointr/EmulationOnAndroid

with something like this

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B013G4CHD4

just use an otg with it.

and get the displaylink app too.

u/nailindapail · 1 pointr/buildapc

There is a couple HDMI ones like this one but the reviews don't seem as great. Otherwise yeah you would need a vga to hdmi.

u/itsmoirob · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This is similar to what the dock is doing, splitting usbC to usbC HDMI usb. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01C6XBLRO Granted this is on sale, but the rrp is still £50, about the same as the dock. Nintendo aren't trying to over price with their accessories.

u/serverangels · 1 pointr/Dell

Works fine for me with a cheap no name adapter I got from Amazon, this is on Fedora 25.

EDIT: I bought this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Multiport-Adapter-Charging-Chromebook-x/dp/B01C6XBLRO/

u/Elveno36 · 5 pointsr/gaming

I did some testing with mining. Those are PCIEx1 riser cards connected via USB 3.0. Like so

u/Interspatial · 1 pointr/EtherMining

None so far. I have 17 gpus on them right now. I am using mostly this brand: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074PS39BK/ref=psdc_3015403011_t1_B01N3UVJHM

u/BackdoorDan · 1 pointr/osx

I've got one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M5JE55S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and have experienced this issue with both the VGA and HDMI connector.

the external monitor is 1080p

u/ShezaEU · 2 pointsr/Surface

It doesn't need to be a Thunderbolt 3 enabled port to do that.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01C6XBLRO/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1493761018&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=usb+c+adaptor&dpPl=1&dpID=31blX-EedjL&ref=plSrch

For example.

Perhaps not more than 1 USB-A port alongside display at once, but in any event far more versatile than a USB-A port.

u/Flyer888 · 3 pointsr/gpumining

I’m using this 4-in-1 PCI-E adapter https://www.amazon.com/Mailiya-Latest-Adapter-Rabbet-Extender/dp/B0796R9VWT with the same motherboard, currently running 9 GPUs with no problems at all.
Before buying that though, since you only have 6 GPUs for now, check if you have enabled mining mode and make sure to set all of the PCI-E speed to Gen1.

u/mimitran · 1 pointr/GooglePixelC

What are you exactly looking for? Did you reply to the wrong person?

If you're looking for the intelliARMOR tempered glass screen protector, it's $15 on Amazon.

u/smblt · -3 pointsr/gpumining

I would recommend Mailiya v006C, zero issues and very clean nicely soldered boards.

Mailiya v006C Wonderful risers.

Don't use Ubit v103C, those things are trash and caused me hours of headache. I opened 7 of them and only 4 worked. Poor soldering, splattered solder, missing solder, poor power. Even the ones that did work did not play nice with the MSI Armor series of cards. I wish I kept them longer to analyze but by the time I had enough I just wanted to get my money back. The ones here... do not buy.

Edit: Thanks for the downvotes. Fuck me for having a bad experience with your precious Ubit.
