Hey there! I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for but hopefully it'll help all the guys n gals looking to get their ladies the ultimate beauty station! As a professional makeup artist for MAC, Chanel and multiple other brands plus freelancing for years I have gotten many ideas over the years!
Be sure to get her plenty of storage if she has a lot of products and tools. Amazon/ Ebay also sell an electric brush cleaner now which is perfect for gals with a ton of brushes. My bro-in-law did the same project & I still have all the links. He installed lights (like these below) around my beauty-obsessed sister's makeup mirror & they're great. I also recommend a mirror that pulls out from the wall (like hotels have!) And a comfy & stylish chair is a must to make her feel like her fave beauty vlogger. Also, get crafty- you can always think of other ways to use these ideas for ex: instead of buying new, repurpose some cool vintage pieces!

Copied from reply above :

Hey, I got this from amazon bunny mirror

Looks like the seller I got it from is not selling it anymore. It worked fine for a bit but my room is too dark so the light wasn’t bright enough. It’ll work well in a bright room, where the LEDs don’t have to work as hard. I primarily use it as a night light since it has that feature. I got it cause it’s super cute and works amazing as a mirror ,but the LEDs are meh. It was around ~$10USD so I should’ve known better, haha.

What I would recommend are the bulbs . They’re super bright, they have three brightness settings and three modes: LED,daylight and what looks like a low light/night time mode. They’re pretty good for ~$20USD.

Edit: I did find another seller selling it for $20USD if you really like it.

Edit: u/bananabread8 shared the same listing below

u/Hampster17 · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

here Is a blog post about GE's fairy new Reveal light bulb and how it is awesome for make-up. As for a light fixture, you probably want something with next to no shades, or at least one that point down. I'm not exactly sure of your home's decor, or if you have a theme, but Home Depot has this pretty neat shade-less vanity fixture. Amazon has this which i think would look gorgeous in Antique Bronze against the red vanity because it would match the knobs. However, it is also available in brushed nickel and chrome.

Happy decorating, and thanks for hosting!

u/thecatladykatie · 4 pointsr/makeuporganization

Sorry to interject but I have the same exact set up you do and bought some lights on Amazon that stick to the mirror that I absolutely love. They help with my crappy guest room lighting quite a bit!

This is my vanity immediately after setting up the lights (turned on): https://i.imgur.com/UpWhiw3.jpg

This is a better picture of the mirror (daylight, lights off): https://i.imgur.com/0MoqgKE.jpg

The lights have a touch-dimmer that I used a 3M strip to attach to the side of my mirror and I love it!!

These are the lights I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075XLRHNQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Ok, I'm a geek, and these are not on Amazon but how cool is this?

and this?

For real though, here are some Amazon ideas:

u/AnotherCatPersonOops · 6 pointsr/makeuporganization

You might remember me from THIS POST a few days ago!

After months of stressing about the clutter in this room, I finally moved the large plastic tubs into storage, unpacked that huge brown box, and also emptied all my trash bags full of shoes and organized them into the closet.

What’s left to do:

  • Mount the round mirror on my wall above the vanity desk

  • Purchase THESE LIGHTS from Amazon to mount onto the mirror (if you have a better suggestion, I’m all ears!)

  • Either purchase a FLOATING SHELF to hang to the right of the vanity or a SMALL STANDING DRAWER UNIT to store my lesser-used items so I can get rid of the extra large acrylic organizer that is taking up a LOT of space on the desk

  • Hang sheer curtains

The brown rattan chair and side table will also be moving out of this room once we get rid of some other furniture that a family member is going to take off our hands!

All-in-all, this was a one-day project that makes me feel soooo much better. I can’t tell you why I put it off for so long - but I’m glad I finally got around to at least doing the bare minimum to make this space more zen for me!

Let me know what you think and if you have any other suggestions! This has been a fun experience :)
u/svwiv · 4 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Hey guys! So I've been building my vanity for a few months and just needed some good lights. I had a lot of product and it was disorganised, and now everything is within reachable distance, thanks to your suggestions.

I wanted to share it since in case someone else needed inspo for a custom vanity that didn't cost an arm and a leg. It cost about $250 for everything, and I'll list the products, prices, and where I got them below:

Vanity: ($169.00)
https://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/10203610/

Mirror: ($19.99)
https://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/20320312/

Lights: ($22.99)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075XLRHNQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Acrylic Cosmetics Organiser: (about $40 for 2)
I could find the original, since I picked them up at TJ Maxx, but identical products can be found on Amazon
www.amazon.com/dp/B06XSLNQKX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_cLtTBbN42P12C

EDIT: Thought I'd add some pros and cons as well. The downside of the vanity is, there are about 3 inches of drawer space that don't pull out, so I use them to store boxed lashes in the back, as well as my boxes of rings and chokers since I don't wear a lot of jewelry.
The Morphe palettes I have are large, so you can see I've placed them on top of the organiser, since I reach for them a lot.
The vanity also has a glass top, so it's good because it's easier to clean and you can slide photos under it of you want. It's also great because the wood doesn't get damaged from wear and tear or spills.
I also keep my brushes organised by face/eyes - they're just all dirty right now 😭
I also have a separate rack where I keep my serums and liquid foundations/primers since I like to keep them upright (it's just to the side so the area remains decluttered).

u/kp3726 · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I bought this recently: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073PDN2VJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You have to charge it pretty often for it to stay bright (I'd say every couple of days), but it's simple to set up and I like it. One light is enough for me to be able to see my face in more detail when doing everyday makeup and working on my eyebrows, but I'd recommend getting two so the light is more even and overall brighter. The LED bulb temperature is similar to daylight, maybe a little cooler (and warm tones/redness are less visible in this light), but I'm also used to seeing my face in warm light from the bathroom lights.

u/Bunnynose7 · 3 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I love [this idea/tutorial] (http://youtu.be/0SsogyiQeQ8) because you get great lighting and you can adjust the lighting! And the supplies needed are very cheap on Amazon! For example [these lights] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002OMGZLA/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_10?colid=J5PVOR3PNZRL&coliid=I1MLQBH1IYFO6D&vs=1) and [here are the cords] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LMN2WDW/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_1?colid=J5PVOR3PNZRL&coliid=I1IAGVXDRWPADR) and you can even customize the details! . Thanks for hosting!

u/RealityStricken · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Since you're going to spend most of your time in your office, I would try to find out if you have warm or cool lighting there and then choose that for your vanity area.

You said you would like to mount the light on your wall, so I'd pick something like this (for warm light) or this (for cool light). Both options give a good overhead light that won't cast shadows like something like this would.

u/fiddy2014 · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I bought these lights to put on my vanity and they’re amazing! Super bright and mimics natural lighting really well! I also have a ring light mirror from Vanity Planet that has 3 different light settings which I like a lot, but I have to get up kinda close to it to be as bright as I want. It works well along with the Vanity lights though!

u/fkai9517 · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I bought these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072F7HSHH?ref_=pe_1196280_123950170) for my vanity that didn't have lights and they are fucking awesome. I'm obsessed. This vanity is super cool, I love the red!

u/clinder94 · 4 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I created a wish list on Amazon and got them as a gift!

Here is a link to the bulb set: https://www.amazon.com/Hollywood-Lights-Dimmable-Lighting-Dressing/dp/B077KXZCTJ/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?s=lamps-light&ie=UTF8&qid=1539320239&sr=1-3-spons&keywords=vanity+mirror+lights&psc=1

The come with adhesives on the back of each bulb so you can put them around any mirror, really, and there are backup adhesive pads in case any wear out. They're affordable and I think should suit most needs!

The bulbs also don't leave adhesive marks on the mirror frame, which is nice because I might repurpose the mirror in another room when I move in a year or so.

u/H00tyMcB00b · 2 pointsr/makeuporganization

I purchased some from Amazon a year ago and they're still working great! No issues at all and super simple to apply. They have peel and stick adhesive on the back of each one and a dimmer switch as well. Here's a link for them as well as a pic of my daughter's finished vanity. HTH!

Ask your landlord to swap the mirror like for a model with an outlet in it. Cheap and easy so the landlord shouldn't mind. If you have a handy buddy, do it yourself and then switch the lamp back before you move out. This is a 10-minute job tops. That’s a lot of lights to photograph! 😂

Here’s some links instead!

I have replaced all 3 bathroom vanity lights with the 3 and 4 light version of this.

I’ve bought 9 of the other lights on Wayfair, and have been extremely happy with every single one.

I did buy a version of this chandelier for our dining room, in an actual lighting store. Only one I didn’t buy online.

Most of the custom work was the mirror/lighted section, I bought a used vanity itself off craigslist and modified it..

I don't have a before picture of the craigslist vanity I bought, but This was the original style vanity for those curious as to what table we had (with the mirror that lifts up in the middle... we sealed that off to put the box on top)

After we sealed the lift up top piece down, we built a working drawer in the center where the front fake drawer was. It was originally a finished stain from the person I bought off craigslist, so I sanded it down and primed/painted everything a gloss white, and put acrylic cabinet knobs on the drawers.

The seat was also painted white, and we made a new seat cover out of a giraffe print shirt. Just wrapped and stapled it down over the older seat cover.

For the light/mirror section...

  • Cut holes around the edge of flat piece of plywood to make a "Frame" around where the mirror would go (we originally wanted MDF but couldn't find a piece big enough).. Then built a frame out of 2 by 3's around the edge of that to create a "box"..

  • On the back of the box we put a 5 light vanity bar on the top through the holes, and then two 4 light vanity bars for the sides.

  • Cut two sections out on each side on the bottom to hold single gang plastic electrical boxes.. I used the shallow ones, but regular size works... I put a Leviton dual outlet in one side for her flat irons, curling irons, blow dryers, phone charger, etc, and a Leviton dimmer switch on the other side so she can turn the lights down if she wants, and used screwless snap on wall plates to frame both of those after the box was painted.

  • my brother wired the lights together, and then wired the dimmer switch/outlets to tie into an extension chord he cut so we could just plug the whole system into a wall.

  • the box was then painted white but we left a center opening not painted so we could glue the 20x24 beveled edge mirror to the front of it. We used a mirror silicone glue. It's on there strong!

  • For lighting, we used GE 25-watt soft white light bulb globes (g25)... Definitely buy more than you need because a lot of them didn't work right out of box! Had to return a few boxes.

Then we mounted it using two long bolts with wing nuts to make it removeable for moving. You can see them in this picture

Feel free to ask any questions!!
u/fregosos_twist · 3 pointsr/makeuporganization

u/romanticheart · 2 pointsr/blogsnark

I actually put it together with random stuff! Breakdown, with links:

Drawers: IKEA, $40/each (I already owned these which helped!)
Table top: IKEA, $9
Mirror: Lowes, $28
Lights: Amazon, $30

The lights are my favorite, they are so cheap for how crazy bright they are, and they dim. They stick on and the wires wrap around the base of each light so you can choose how far apart they are.

u/KnivesToAGunFight · 21 pointsr/somethingimade

Gladly! I actually followed THIS YouTube DIY for the most part. I would watch it, as it gives you a pretty clear picture of what it all entails. BUT, keep in mind that this video leaves SOOOO much out and is not very accurate. I used the exact measurements that the video used, and made it work, but ran into several issues along the way. Below I will list the parts that I used, and the flaws in the video that required a different process.

  • First of all, the mirror size and light lengths just don't add up. In her video the lights mount flat to the wall, but for the sizes she SAYS she uses, you must overlap the lights onto the mirror a bit. No big deal at all. But you have to put something behind the light to fill the gap between the wall and light (I just used 1/4" trim, super simple)

  • Second of all, THERE IS NO WAY that she got that dimmer to work. I purchased the exact same one and it wont fit in the light ballast. I ended up going with an outlet style dimmer, and it works great. Ill link it at the bottom.

  • If I think of any other stuff that is not like the video, I will let you know.

  • MIRROR

  • BULBS

  • TOP and SIDE light ballasts.

  • DIMMER

EDIT: Please forgive me if this makes no sense. I am running on no sleep and tend to ramble when I'm tired. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

I bought a kit on Amazon and have been loving it. Vanity Lighting

u/PltEchoEcho · 3 pointsr/Makeup

That is so sweet!

I’m personally searching for something similar. If you go on Amazon or AliExpress and search for Vanity Lights you’ll see a string of big light bulbs that can be placed around a mirror (or anywhere else you’d prefer).

Similar to this.

It might also be helpful to look at reviews and ratings as I’ve seen some bad ones.

Good luck!

u/A1L33N · 32 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

It's these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MTFVWZ8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I love that there are different light settings and they're dimmable.

u/ChefJoe98136 · 2 pointsr/electricians

I suspect they used something like these (the 4 lights in the middle/top look slightly off from the sides) https://www.amazon.com/Nuvo-193-Vanity-Polished-24-Inch/dp/B002OMGZLA so you could probably cut out an area for 4x4 boxes on each edge of the mirror and install standard 1 gang old work boxes along the bottom. Maybe you'd want to use armored cable between all those boxes, but it's going to get hefty and I doubt that's really code compliant to install on a table like that.

edit: A lot of customer photos on Amazon show those fixtures just having lamp cords run out the back. That's certainly a very DIY way to go... and then they cover it in black spray paint.

u/rmolodetz · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

you should get this, https://www.amazon.com/Nuvo-193-Vanity-Polished-24-Inch/dp/B002OMGZLA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1485272744&sr=8-3&keywords=vanity+lights I have it and it gives off amazing light and just hangs on the wall the way a picture frame does. You do have to buy a cord and bulbs separately.

I bought mine from the company “JHS-TECH” on amazon but it appears that they no longer sell the string lights version I got (new second generation from company: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B078J4TWJW?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image&th=1). This one from Chende is identical to the set I got months ago: https://www.amazon.ca/Chende-Hollywood-Dimmable-10-kit/dp/B075XLRHNQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_10_sspa?crid=39UDJF22RNMDA&keywords=led+vanity+light&qid=1554606047&s=gateway&sprefix=led+vanity+&sr=8-10-spons&psc=1. You can also look up “LED vanity lights” for other options/price points.

Actually, what I did is bought stick on vanity lights for the mirror in my bathroom. There’s no magnification, if that’s what you’re looking for here, but it absolutely fixed my light problem. I usually will just sit on the counter if I need to get really in there.

Here’s the kind I bought: https://www.amazon.com/Chende-Hollywood-Dimmable-Lighting-Dressing/dp/B075XLRHNQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=vanity+mirror+light+bulbs+stick+on&qid=1562183873&s=gateway&sr=8-3

The cord is kinda ugly, but the lights are bright enough that they light my entire bathroom! They really work!!!
