Had glasses since middle school until very recently, much of this has already been said by others but just to reiterate:

• Use microfiber cloths 100% of the time when you wipe your glasses, and clean the glasses before using the cloths. I had one at my computer, one in my car and one at my desk at work. Try to get the kind that are thicker and denser, as they'll pick up more grease and oils before needing to be washed.
  
• To clean the glasses, use hot water and a speck of dish soap like /u/SaiNushi recommended or use something like Koala Kleaner.
  
• Don't touch the lenses. If you do, clean the lens before wiping.
  
• They should only be on your face or in their case.
  
• Clean the pads/area where they touch your face weekly at least, maybe more frequent if you have an oilier face. This part can smell if you don't keep it clean, though you probably won't smell it while they're on your face, anyone close to your face (😚) might.
  
• They work best when sitting correctly on your face. If they sit too far down your nose, it could cause eye strain.
  
  This is more general vision tips, but:
  
  
• Take breaks from staring at things close to you and "reset" your vision by looking at something across the room or outside for a little bit of time.
  
• Don't rub your eyes.
  
• If your vision changes, don't wait to go to the eye doctor and get your prescription updated. This also has the added bonus of giving you an emergency backup pair of glasses that are better than nothing if your new main pair breaks.

  Most people with chronic fatigue have trouble with sleep and some with anxiety.

  Plants have shown to improve mood and stuff, so you could get him a low maintenance plant like a succulent. Idk if have the energy for it though...

OMG! I can't believe anyone would think it's okay to appropriate near- and far-sighted culture like that!

Seriously, though, it's fine. Part of me (as a full-time glasses wearer) is like "why would you wear glasses if you don't have to?" but if I'm honest with myself, I think my face looks better with them. And there's no question in my mind that the right glasses can make a difference in regard to gender cues.

Have you actually had an eye exam lately? Even if you don't need glasses, it's important to get your eyes checked periodically for other potential issues. You might even be surprised and find out that a little bit of correction would help.

Even if you don't need any correction, there are glasses that you can get that supposedly ease eyestrain looking at computer screens (they block some blue light) like [these]

I've bought prescription glasses from eyebuydirect.com and they also offer lots of options for non-prescription and sunglasses and are very reasonably priced. I've also heard good things about Zenni Optical.

Usually you have three things:

1. Red Cap solution: It's milky, and you use it to clean the lens completely. DO NOT LET IT TOUCH YOUR EYES.
   
2. Blue Cap Solution/Conditioner: I usually have the Bausch and Lomb stuff. It says conditioner on it. This is what I use in my contact case to soak overnight.
   
3. Saline Solution (Sterile, Preservative Free): Just a simple saline solution. I recommend Purilens. This is what I put in the lens itself before wearing. (https://www.amazon.com/PuriLens-Preservative-Saline-Twelve-Bottles/dp/B000X98XS4)
   
   So I repeat the same step every morning.
   
   
4. Wash hands with perfume free soap. Dry off with lint-free towel.
   
5. Take contact out of case put in palm of hand. Use extra conditioner and lightly rub. Rinse again with more conditioner.
   
6. Fill Lens with Saline Solution. Put in Eye.
   
7. Dry out case, and leave open.
   
   At night:
   
   
8. Take contact out, place in case, fill case with Conditioner
   
9. Once or twice a week, before this step, I gently clean the contact with the red cap cleaner solution and rinse thoroughly with conditioner before putting in case.

I’ve benefited from wrist strengthening. Mostly to tolerate general strength exercises, but it also improved random pain from maintaining certain positions.

Here’s what I did, or would do with the benefit of hindsight. Keep in mind if something hurts it’s usually best to avoid the behavior that results in pain, such as setting your phone on something or using prism glasses and laying down.

I’d choose one exercise for wrist flexion, one for wrist extension, and one for wrist pronation/rotation. Here’s my approach. I also did a gripper squeeze exercise, and something like this for finger extension. This video has some good info and alternatives. Eccentric work may promote more adaptation in connective tissue, so using both hands to close the gripper and one to control the opening might allow a higher intensity, but stay focused on avoiding injury.

I’d suggest being cautious with resistance, and aim for 45s of work in each set. You can rest one side while working the other, and take more time to rest if you need it. If you’re failing to reach 45s, or at least 30s, it may be too intense. If you can make it to 60s, perhaps it’s time to make it more difficult. I’d suggest adding a second and third set of each exercise and make sure you’re recovering well before increasing intensity. Don’t add more than one set per session (don’t jump from 1 set to 3 sets). Allow 48hrs between sessions, such as MWF.

I'm sorry that your eye doctors aren't working with you until your scleral lenses fit comfortably. I've worn scleral lenses for 4 years now and have loved them - they never hurt my eyes like RGP lenses could. My vision doesn't get noticeably worse as the days goes on like they did with RGPs.

Ask your eye doctors if they can check the fit. There are no nerve endings in your sclera so the lenses should not be hurting your eyes.

Oh, poo! Just looked and my frames aren't on their site. Would have been nice too, my glasses snapped in half back in November, they're superglued right now, ha! Can you say nerd?

Like I said before, my glasses are glued together. They don't sit right on my face, there's super glue on the lenses from trying to fix them and I can't get it off, and I don't have insurance to get a new pair. A new pair would be amazing!!!

Well first off build yourself a top of the line pc with the new i7-7700k and GTX 1080 (or if money really isn't an issue get a GTX Titan XP and upgrade it to the 1080 Ti when it comes out lol).


Then make sure you have enough room. I only have 1.7 x 2.2m and it works great, but you can get up to 3x3m and over if you have the space.


The cord isn't too bad in most games, you will learn to just step over it. Certain games like Holopoint and Racket NX will have you spinning and getting tangled, but you can download a program called Advanced OpenVR Settings that will tell you how many spins you made in a certain direction so you can spin the other way ingame.


You will have a lot of add-ons to buy in a few months - Wireless (TPCast) , Hi5 Gloves , deluxe audio strap for added comfort , VR15 Rifle Accessory


And I 100% suggest that you buy a few of these sleep masks, cut out the middle, and use them as faceplate cushions instead of the default one, they are way more comfortable.


And get a box of these to wipe your lenses :P

Other options include the appearance package, MyFord Touch (is possible to get real nav on this even though it didn't get the $800 nav package?) and the backup camera.

I loved the color the moment I saw it. Sometimes I feel its a little on the girly side, but I don't care. The color is absolutely gorgeous. and the red stitching on the interior really brings it out.

Two complaints though.

1. I seem to get WAY LESS gas mileage on my 2012 Focus sedan that I traded in. On the Focus I would average 32 city/highway but on this Fusion I'm getting 16. I really hope it just needs to be broken in. I knew I was going to get less MPG but this is more than I expected.
   
   
2. The touch screen is constantly getting finger printed. Is it save to use these Carl Zeiss wipes on it? It came with a microfiber cloth but it doesn't do anything. If I spray some lens cleaner solution from eye glasses shops it works but I don't know if it's safe for the screen.

It's no Krispy Kreme donut, but...

One of my favorite things to do is fried zucchini and squash with onions. You can get the veggies fresh for like $2 and it's super simple to make.

Prep- slice everything up and toss with salt and garlic powder. I also put in nutritional yeast, but you can be as plain or as fancy as you want with your seasonings. Cook- on medium heat for a few minutes, depending on how soft you want everything, I like to brown mine a bit. Done! with a tofu scramble and salad. I'm vegetarian, but this would make a great side for any kind of chicken breast recipe, or you can even stir fry the veggies with chunks of chicken.

Okay. So I found these super cute contact holder thingies on /u/zakinak 's wishlist. I don't have one. If I take my contacts out I use a bowl. It's super ghetto. Don't judge me, world.

So I bought a pair on sale for something around 25 dollars because I, like you, thought they were bullshit. I'm an optical engineer who happens to play a boatload of computer games, so I have the methods to test them.

Yes, they filter light out and change the temperature of what you're viewing. Yes, they have an AR coating, which helps to reduce glare a lot.

However, if you don't get them on sale they are ridiculously expensive, and even more so if you need prescription versions. Save yourself the trouble. If you're on your computer, use f.lux. This used to not work great with fullscreen modes and had some issues where it would pop in and out of tint, but the program has made some great strides.

If you game a lot on console/can't be arsed to install and modify f.lux or for whatever reason can't use it, then I highly suggest getting something to help your eyes out. Here's a sample pair from another, much cheaper, company:

Polycarb is one of the worst materials. CR39 is the cheapest lens material that is also the best for not having visual artifacts.

Older anti-glare coatings were terrible. Newer ones are far better (personal experience) and made an improvement for me for driving at night.

I think it simply uses a coating like Crizal Preventia that filters out certain blue light. It almost completely eliminated night driving glare for me (though I do not see stars, I just see a lot of glare from oncoming headlights).

All that being said, if the root cause is on your eyeball I don't know how much glasses can improve things. But CR39 + Crizal Preventia (or similar blue blocking antiglare coating) is the best I've used for avoiding oncoming headlight glare at night.

those are the tools i'm talking about.. it holds the lens securely, allowing you to fill it, then lean your head to insert it vertically.

I have no experience with the purilens system, so I can't really speak to that. But I've been in my lenses for about a year now and have just been using the unisol to fill my lenses as my doctor suggested.

Also, make sure you get something to clean your lenses, nightly is preferable. I use this:

This is important for your comfort, the lenses can get kinda gunky and possibly lead to infections if you don't keep them clean, so this is what my doctor suggested as well!

I've already found something for a mask but I'm having trouble deciding. There's This One which seems to resemble the most in terms of amount of spikes. But then there's this one which has a decent amount of spikes as well but actually shapes to your nose similar to Wrench's actual mask.

As for glasses, I've already found probably the best store bought thing you can find for this. They're called "Chemion Glasses" They display text, emojis and anything you can create. You can check them out here if you'd like.

I use the systane drops. I already used them before i started smoking for medical reasons since i have really dry eyes, but it helps with smoking dry eyes as well. These are great since they don't have preservatives, and i ususally use about a vial a day.

It is stupidly expensive, but also the best eyedrops I've ever used. Avid gamer, all-day computer user (work), and having had Lasik...my eyes get dry and I've tried a lot of brands. I have not tried the generic of this (CVS)...may work just as well.

Daily contact lenses may not be a bad idea. You can continue wearing monthlies during “normal life” and use the dailies when you are out and about. You can get 90 days worth of daily contact lenses for about 150-200.

However, you could also consider buying one or both of these

soft contact inserter

It may be easier to clean and/or keep those tools clean.

/u/peanuttown Is on the right track with his recommendations, but I'll throw out an alternate. I use Zeiss lens wipes to clean my camera lenses after weddings, and PC/phone screens. They're microfiber soft and I have numerous wedding photographer friends who've used them for years. In the 3 years I've used them I've never had a scratch, and I don't think they'll scratch any consumer products, but obviously you should do whatever makes the most sense for you.

When I clean my Vive lenses I usually use glasses cleaner soaked into a spot on a microfiber cloth (which I assume to be some kind of special soapy solution, but really have no idea), which I then do gentle circular wipes with (after making sure there's no obvious hard particles sitting on the lens). Specifically, I use Koala Kleaner, but that's just because I got a big bottle of it with some microfiber wipes.

Is there a reason this is a bad idea vs. dry wipes, or is dry just safer than using a solution that "might" be alcohol-based or ammonia-based, etc.?

I've been using thses for years. I find them by the optical dept. at walmart, but i'm sure you can find them in other stores if you don't want to order online. they work great and they're convenient to use.

I bought one and hopes it will work great. I always searching for something like this to watch series while on bed.

You can try any / all of these. I put them in order of what I would try first:

1. Ambient light - If you are in a dark room, the bright monitor will strain your eyes. Turn on a lamp or something. I use a dim light behind me when working at night.
   
   
2. The 20-20-20 rule, or something similar. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away, for 20 seconds. Basically, don't just stare at your screen for hours on end.
   
   
3. Something like f.lux, or computer glasses. The harsh blue light from computer screens contributes to eye strain. Cutting out the blue via software (f.lux) or glasses meant for computers helps. Many people don't like this option at first because it screws with your colors, but you'll eventually get used to it. IMO not really re
   
   
4. Artificial Tears - These are special eye drops. These are not Visine or other similar products that get redness out (don't use those, they make things worse), but rather lubricant drops. Something like Systane Ultra, or other "Lubricant Eye Drops" can help your eyes if they are drying out. They're kind of expensive: a small $15 bottle will last 2-6 months or so, depending on how often you use them.

I switch between glasses and contacts pretty regularly and work using a computer 8 hours a day. I actually have a pair of light yellow tinted perscription glasses specifically for computer and gaming use.

Your brain needs to adjust to this new stressor as it is a different combination of stimuli. You do need to ease back into it. Try to see if you can take it easier on all the "extras" and focus on letting yourself re-adapt. The right combination of "challenging" yourself but allowing some recovery. It gets easier but the transition is hard. But you need to make that first step. You wouldn't run a marathon in one day but you need to slowly challenge your system for RUNNING if that what you want to get good at.. training for something else will still make running hard.

If you are still having some lingering untreated extra challenges (such as visual deficits) that can drain your battery faster so make sure its not your vision thats really making you feel awful. Or your vestibular system still not being in good shape.

If you have counselling, its probably a good idea to continue. You need to reduce your stress levels as much as possible as it will affect your sleep and ultimately your resilience and adaptability to new stimuli. The brain has a profound capacity for adaptability but it also needs the right environment.

EDIT: I forgot to add that you should try using tools to maximize your performance and reduce extra strain until you are ready like blue light reducing glasses or musician ear plugs to dull sounds etc.

This technique helped me get use to lining it up correct on the first attempt and feel comfortable shoving a chunk of glass in my eye every morning. After a few months I was able to use the standard plunger without the bottom cut out for insertion and removal.

I'm in the minority that has to wear hard contacts (mine happens to be a scleral lens) so I'm posting my plan since you can't toss these like soft contacts and you usually only have one pair

It's relatively simple, I'm bringing in a hard contact lens remover, a simple contact lens case pre-filled with contact saline. I might bring in one of the sealed saline vials in with me. I plan to pop a squat somewhere to take out the contact into my lens case right before the sunset set that I attend or while I'm eating dinner

I'm not going to try and bring in the usual prescribed pH solution and disinfectant solution since that has to stay upright in the [disinfecting canister] (https://www.clearcaresolution.com/images/prod-triple-action.png) to work effectively (but you should do this everyday after you leave the festival grounds). I'm not planning on bringing in any eye drops

I second this info. I worked for optometrists for several years and that is also what they all said. It is always good to get an eye exam, but here are some tricks you can try before spending too much money: 1. Take a short break for 4-5 minutes every hour to look away from your screen and bink/close your eyes. 2. Get some eye drops like Optive, Blink, or Systain Ultra (my favorite) and use them during those breaks (at least 3 times a day, more if needed). If you live in the US you can get these at a local drug store, and probably get a smaller/cheaper size to start out to see if it helps.

I've been using these to clean my device. I think the Spigen tempered glass screen protector came with them, and I saw them at the store so I picked some up. Hopefully these are safe to use...

Get a pack of lense wipes designed for camera lenses or glasses... these are usually one use microfiber clothes with a quick drying solution (sometimes alcohol) that will clean and dry off pretty quickly and with no hassle.

I use these for cleaning everything from cinema lenses to my phone screen and have never had issues.

I've run in the original band four or five times now. It holds up just fine, doesn't slip. I don't realize how sweaty the watch gets until I take it off. I just rinse it with water, dry it off then use these lens cleaning wipes I have for my glasses to clean the band and watch sensor after it's dry.

I currently wear disposable contacts that are meant to be worn for 30 days (days only, not to be worn while sleeping.)

I can routinely wear the same pair for 1.5-2 months. The contacts get noticeably thinner, and will feel scratchier and scratchier as time goes on. I typically wear them until I tear them, or they just feel too irritating.

I've also found using an overnight solution that includes hydrogen peroxide helps extend the life of the lenses. I typically use the Target brand version of this stuff by Clear Care I was completely unable to find any solution with hydrogen peroxide while in the UK, so this may be a US thing...

Isopropyl alcohol wipes are probably the best thing to use however most of the times when I'm out shooting and the front element gets water, snow, etc. on it I just give it a quick wipe with my shirt.
Nikon sells wipes specifically for this but I'm sure you could find them somewhere cheaper.

Edit: A soft cloth is fine too, just make sure to be very gentle and always use a blower first though, if there is anything nasty stuck to the lens, you'll just grind them into the lens and give them small surface scratches over time.

I've got terrible vision as well and can't do much of anything outside of sleeping without my glasses. I throw a few lens wipes into my saddle bag for those times when my glasses get all sweaty and salt-encrusted. They're essentially just a cloth with alcohol but they cut through grease and whatever else you've got on your glasses quite well. I'd recommend them.

It works wonders. And given that it's intended for high quality glasses, it manages to clean oil, smudges and all without leaving scratches.

Do you clean your glasses everyday? I used to have this problem all the time until I started using lens wipes daily. I'm assuming you're in the UK so this might be something to try, I use ones from Costco but idk if you guys have that there. You might be able to find smaller/cheaper packs at Boots or whatever drugstore too. Make sure you wipe down the nose pads, lens, and basically every part of your glasses, and do it every day before you put them on in the morning as well as after any heavy activities where you sweat a lot. You can also use plain alcohol wipes which might be stronger at disinfecting but that might damage your glasses over time if you do it everyday, I use alcohol swabs maybe once every 2 weeks and the lens wipes every day.

I used to use these to remove my prosthetic eye when I was a kid (it's easier to just get a finger behind it and pop it out). They should work well.

I've ordered these and found them too heavy and overall a bad design. I especially disliked that you can't detach the prisms.

Then I bought this model (there are several at similar prices, all identical from one particular company in China as far as I can see) and liked them much more. The tolerances are ridiculously high because they are cheap as shit and the prism alignment can be pretty bad, BUT you can take out the prisms and adjust for all those faults easily. You can even bend the frame when you warm it up a bit. Optometricians and stores that specialize in glasses usually have a machine that blows hot air on frames to do just that, which you can ask them to use.

I've used them as an alternative to extremely expensive belaying/rockclimbing glasses and I'm very satisfied with the value I received (and the quality I got out of it with minimal fixes).

Dust gets on the sensor, no matter how careful you are. It won't be 'years' later.

It's not something to be super apprehensive about. It requires a bit of care, but don't be nervous. It's easy.

By a rocket blower... a good one. Use the Mirror-Lock-Up functionality of your camera to expose the sensor, and blow the dust off when necessary.

Eventually you'll have to.

It's way too easy to be hiring a camera store to do it. I'd be more worried about letting someone else do it than working on it myself.

I've been where you are, years ago... I was scared I'd mess something up, but here many years later, removing dust particles from the sensor, is old hack. I've never once had an issue.

I bought some of these just to see if they would make a difference. It took a day to get used to them but Now I wear them literally all day every day. It makes everything so much easier on your eyes. I definitely see a difference when staring at my computer all day and also while I'm driving at night.

My preferred method is these Carl Zeiss lens cleaning wipes just enough alcohol in them and non abrasive. I use them to clean the entire phone. Start with the screen, then camera lens, then the rest of it.

This is a device designed to be used for large scleral lenses, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for soft lenses. Try to place the CL on the plunger, look down (chin towards chest) then move plunger up towards your eye. Worth a shot? Also make sure you cut the tapered end off the plunger so it doesn’t suction the lens.

These have the advantage of also working with books etc, and can be used everywhere!

You can get computer glasses that cut down on blue glare, and they don't magnify/give you a headache. No prescription needed - you can easily get a pair off Amazon. First, get a blower and use it on your sensor and both ends of your lens from time to time. I also use Zeiss wipes on my lenses as necessary. I have cleaned my sensor several times, but that's something you should do very carefully with a sensor swab or possibly send to Sony (that's their recommendation). Hot breath and a cotton swab will work, but I can feel a Sony technician slapping me for saying it.

I use Zeiss brand stuff, both spray and those wipes. I've never had an issue. There's others like it (my bro finds a canister of some local brand that also de-statics.)

I use a combination of stuff.

Rocket blowers are great for loose dust, but they don't get everything.

Dry microfiber cloths get slightly more stubborn dirt off.

Lens pens are fantastic for cleaning tougher stuff too.

If there are oils that other methods are not getting off, do a wet cleaning. Either lens cleaning fluid + microfiber or a pre-moistened lens wipe.

Just as a quick question related to this: I'm changing cases, which requires changing motherboards. When I clean the CPU off can I use "Moistened Lens Cleaning Wipes"? I only ask because I have several of them lying around (they are Zeiss brand) and I'd rather not spend money on isopropyl alcohol if I don't have any around since I won't be using it for much else.

I also use these lubricating eyedrops (I have dry eyes from Lasik). A bottle can last me anywhere between 4-6 months.

The glasses, eyedrops, and flux (as others have mentioned) together make a world of a difference. I wouldn't be able to go on the computer for so long without them. I really recommend to give the three a try!

What works the best for me and sucks but you have to do it is you HAVE to look down into the center of the lens. You cant look sideways like with other contacts. If you dont honestly just forget it. It took me so long to get used to it and it fucking sucked for a week but now i get it in 1-2 tries.

Even if it hurts you have to do it or else it just wont work! I have the best contact eye clamp in the business from years of KC and even that didnt help until I learned to look down at the lens while inserting

I can vouch for these. I had a lot of eyestrain from reading my online text books - these removed it completely.

To add to this: I got mine on Amazon for $14.99. I was getting terrible headaches every other day from eye strain. Haven’t had one since. Just make sure the magnification is 0.00x unless you want/need reading glasses.

If the goal was to reduce intensity they should have used red light. Blue light is much more taxing on the average person's eyes and has been linked to sleep disorders. That's why they make these.

I purchased these about 3 months ago. Still using them today and even purchased a pair to use at home. Was getting bags under my eyes prior, these seemed to have made a noticeable difference for me.

I had this same problem. I found out that it's the bluelight that in the screen and lights that cause this. I bought some bluelight blocking glasses and wear them when I feel some eye strain.
