Hey there! I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for but hopefully it'll help all the guys n gals looking to get their ladies the ultimate beauty station! As a professional makeup artist for MAC, Chanel and multiple other brands plus freelancing for years I have gotten many ideas over the years!
Be sure to get her plenty of storage if she has a lot of products and tools. Amazon/ Ebay also sell an electric brush cleaner now which is perfect for gals with a ton of brushes. My bro-in-law did the same project & I still have all the links. He installed lights (like these below) around my beauty-obsessed sister's makeup mirror & they're great. I also recommend a mirror that pulls out from the wall (like hotels have!) And a comfy & stylish chair is a must to make her feel like her fave beauty vlogger. Also, get crafty- you can always think of other ways to use these ideas for ex: instead of buying new, repurpose some cool vintage pieces!

Here's how I organize my closet. Hope it helps with some inspiration!

Shirts and coats are all hung up in order of color. Nothing fancy or special with the hangers; originally I was going to pick up some wooden hangers, but ultimately decided against it when I determined that I would need to decrease my wardrobe size to accommodate the increased width of the hangers.

All my shoes are distributed in Ikea Bissa Shoe Cabinets. The quality is what is to be expected with Ikea, but since they're basically the only major company that makes something like this it has to be accepted. You can fit 4 pairs of shoes per section, so with 6 sections available that's a total of 24 shoes that can be stored - more than enough for most men. I don't own any boots, so I haven't developed a storage method for those, but I have seen others place their boots on top of the cabinet. If you don't like that you might be able to make/order a boot box and slide that into the cabinet.

Ties are on a tie hanger. I don't love this thing, but since it does the job well enough it has yet to be replaced.

Work bag goes on the right wall. My watch travel boxes, cufflinks, shirt stays, and other miscellaneous things go on top of the right cabinet.

Baseball cap(s) go above the door on little hooks. I also installed an automatic light since the closet did not have anything wired up. The OxyLED T-02S has motion tracing, an automatic timer, and is rechargeable - which is basically everything needed for a closet. I'm definitely a fan of this little guy, especially considering the price.

I know you only asked for a closet shot, but I decided to include my dresser so you can get a full idea of my clothing organization. Surprise, surprise, everything has a group and is organized according to its space needs.

I am due this Winter! My cute little parasite is a boy, though.

2) I'd love this $1.91 with free shipping LED flower light that I stole from /u/bridget1989's wishlist! (Sorry not sorry!)

3 Addison, Amelia, Bailey, Violet, Madeline, PrincessSparkle (thought your daughter might like this one), Mairin (Irish, I'm Irish!), etc.

THANKS for the GREAT contest! Let me know how you're feeling every day so I know what to expect one month after you do. Haha!

This cute LED color changing light is $1.94 with free shipping. You might have more to gift someone else something REALLY cheap with free shipping, as well!

I have been on here all day, too. I'm an addict. I love scouring other peoples' wish lists and Thanks posits to see what I want to add to mine! It's totally addicting! And everyone's so friendly!

This nursery ended up being a little different from what I originally pictured. I wanted something light and neutral, but there ended up being a lot more color. We rent so I can't paint the walls to bring in more light, but I found the cutest decals on Etsy!

Mobile: I made the pom pom mobile with the help of this tutorial. It took me way longer than I imagined because frankly I'm not a huge crafter, so I took my time. https://www.aburstofbeautiful.com/2015/05/diy-pom-pom-mobile.html/

Wall art: I actually made these myself by purchasing downloadable clip art from Etsy and throwing them together in a way that I liked. I liked the idea of having unique woodland wall art that wasn't the same as everyone else's.

Touch light: I bought this little light for middle-of-the-night diaper changes. This thing is shaped like an egg and adorable. It charges on a base and can be carried around, and the brightness can be dimmed. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0785DT97B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My daughter loves these two night/light toys:

Rainbow in my room

And

Light Turtle

She also likes these little kid magnet toys - they are really weird looking - but when she finally figured out the "pull" of the magnets they became amazing to her:
GeoMag

I obviously have a girl - but I'm sure your kid would love any of these! Pretty universal items!

Maybe it's just because I am a mom, but my go-to recommendations are always the things you reach for at 3am and then kick yourself for not having had the foresight to own.

  • An absolute must is a pack of 9 volt batteries. It seems like no matter how frequently you check or swap the batteries in your fire alarms they will sing the song of their people in the middle of the night annually.

  • Basic First Aid Kit, and a well stocked medicine cabinet. You can buy a kit like the one I linked, but I prefer to just pick out each item individually. Think of the things you frequently pulled out of the medicine cabinet when you were still living with your parents and start there.

  • A fire extenguisher is a good thing to have. While you are at it, get one for your car as well.

  • Night Lights so you don't stub your toe in the middle of the night.

I don't want to type a novel here, so I will stop. Just think of the things you reached for without thinking while growing up. Start with the things you will use most often and those that are needed for real emergencies and go from there. Hope this helps and congratulations!
u/casualsax · 7 pointsr/tmbg
  • That's pretty awesome
  • You're lucky to love a band where eight albums is less than half of their discography
  • It bugs me that some of them are plastic jewel cases and some are paper
  • I listen to too much music to listen to just one band
  • Did you clean your desk just for this photo?
  • I see CDs and think "How antiquated"
  • At the same time I have a growing collection of vinyl
  • Really just TMBG? No Cake? No Presidents of the USA?
  • This might keep you up at night, make sure to get a nightlight
  • Is Don't Let's Start about a romantic relationship or father/daughter?
  • That pencil needs to be sharpened
  • If you had to choose which would you get signed?
  • I'd probably buy Here Come the ABCs just to listen to "E Eats Everything"
  • How do your friends/relatives feel about only listening to TMBG while you're around?

I'm looking at getting [grow lights from amazon] (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07FF7C7KF/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AWAF1NHJQCE18&psc=1) as suggested multiple times in this thread and on this sub. If I attach them to a shelving unit, say 2 lights per shelf on four shelves, how bright will this be? Could I set this up in my home office and still sit in there and work during the day, or will it be much too bright for me?

Also, can I set up a shelving unit like that with grow lights in a spot that gets minimal natural light? Right now my succs are spread out on windowsills throughout my house, but I'm running out of room and even my brightest southern window does not get much bright light in zone 4b. The only spot I have to put a shelf like this is in the back of a room that gets some evening (west) light.

Thanks!

I love to play in the rain and I think having the rainbow at the end is the best part! If I could bring it inside my room and see it everyday, I'd love it! With this I could!!!!!!

This is the set I bought. Looks like I got them on sale as they are $52 now. Still a good price. They do have a 4 light kit that is cheaper too though.

The sticky tape has been holding onto the carpet lining pretty good so far, but I plan on using a screw per light to hold them permanently. Just haven't got back to it yet :)

I also have a pack of these ties that I used to organize and hold the wires to the carpet lining. Just wrap your wires course side out, trim the excess and stick it right to the lining. Holds really good. Upper corner.. Lower corner..

This one!

I mounted it with a bunch of adhesive strips from leftover command hooks, worked like a charm! The bulb shield/cover was super easy to remove, too.

u/fkai9517 · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I bought these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072F7HSHH?ref_=pe_1196280_123950170) for my vanity that didn't have lights and they are fucking awesome. I'm obsessed. This vanity is super cool, I love the red!

u/clinder94 · 4 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I created a wish list on Amazon and got them as a gift!

Here is a link to the bulb set: https://www.amazon.com/Hollywood-Lights-Dimmable-Lighting-Dressing/dp/B077KXZCTJ/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?s=lamps-light&ie=UTF8&qid=1539320239&sr=1-3-spons&keywords=vanity+mirror+lights&psc=1

The come with adhesives on the back of each bulb so you can put them around any mirror, really, and there are backup adhesive pads in case any wear out. They're affordable and I think should suit most needs!

The bulbs also don't leave adhesive marks on the mirror frame, which is nice because I might repurpose the mirror in another room when I move in a year or so.

u/JoeB- · 2 pointsr/homeautomation

I have retrofitted two kitchens with LED under cabinet lighting, both before tiling the backsplash, each at a cost under $100 USD. The first has been going strong for almost 10 years.

First, IMO under cabinet lighting is task lighting. It doesn't need to be dimmable and doesn't need to be RGB, just go with a warm or cool temperature depending on your preference.

This is what I suggest - I assume you are in the U.S...

  1. Run 18AWG Low Voltage LED Cable 2 Conductor Jacketed in-Wall Wire from the back of a selected base cabinet through the wall(s) to each contiguous span of upper cabinets. These wires can terminate in a small box in, or under, the cabinet. The wiring also can be daisy-chained if needed. For example, a wire can be used to connect cabinet spans that are separated by a small distance, say by a range hood.
  2. Wire a switched 110v outlet into the same base cabinet. This only needs to be operated by a single switch,, probably over the counter, or near an entrance to the kitchen area.
  3. Use LED 5050 Flexible Strip Lights, Warm White 3000K 16.4ft 300 LEDs (or whatever color temp you prefer) inside Litever 6-Pack 3.3ft/1 Meter 9x18mm U Shape Aluminum Channels with Diffuser cut at custom lengths to match the widths of cabinet spans. These should be mounted at the front of the cabinet and a small wiring channel used to hide the wiring under the cabinet were it runs from front to back.
  4. Drive the LED strips by a LEDwholesalers 12-Volt DC Waterpoof LED Power Suppply Driver Transformer with 3-Prong Plug, 60W, 3204-12V (or something similar) mounted in the base cabinet with the low-voltage wiring and switched outlet.

I used these items. This setup is simple and inexpensive, any one component can be replaced easily if it fails, and it can be controlled by a smart switch of your choice.

If you want mood lighting, then you can wire 110v outlets above the cabinets and use one, or two of Philips - Hue Play White & Color Ambiance Smart LED Bar Light to shine on the ceiling, or use Philips Hue bulbs in your recessed light cans.
u/PortlandNative-1992 · 1 pointr/controlgame

They do change color! It comes with a remote where you can choose what color and brightness. They just stick on the back of the tv and are powered via USB.

Now if you wanna get real fancy with it, Philips makes a light kit as well. Stronger light and you can control it with your phone and there’s a TON of customization options too.

I have these lights with this shelf and it's been working well so far! You should/can spend more money on the growlights, they're a bit cheap feeling so idk if they'll last. But it's a pretty good setup for <$100 for a cheap college student like me!

u/TheLittleKicks · 5 pointsr/succulents

It depends on which red/blue lights you got. A lot of the ones sold on amazon aren’t very strong. Some of them work ok.

The white lights you’re seeing are probably a brand of T5s. Here is an example. The specs that work best for succulents are a light temperature of 6500k, and around 2000 lumens per square foot.

u/Liquidretro · 1 pointr/flashlight

I have one of these https://www.amazon.com/Wardrobe-OxyLED-Anywhere-Magnetic-Rechargeable/dp/B01HO1FLDI/ref=pd_sim_60_6?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01HO1FLDI&pd_rd_r=7B4H61XR8Q2JMKBXMPRV&pd_rd_w=EPjbg&pd_rd_wg=RmPGV&psc=1&refRID=7B4H61XR8Q2JMKBXMPRV that I attach with magnets to my washer . I use it as I enter the house from the garage into the mud room since the switch is on the far side. It works super well. USB rechargeable and I charge about twice a year. It stays on for less then 5 minutes but you could always wave your hand and boom. I have some others (Warm white) that are from Eufy that run off AAA that I use like how you are planning.

Hello everyone. I made a negative which allows you to produce pieces that fit perfectly onto a cheap night light you can find on Amazon.

I posted this in 3D printing, but figured that you guys may actually get more use out of it in here.

There is a full video tutorial along with the file on Thingiverse.

Enjoy :)

Unless it's incandescent, lights use so little power it's not worth spending even $10 on power savings.

That said, I have some LED nightlights that I use to provide "navigation lights." They don't put off enough light to do much more than see if there's a wall in the way or I'm going to step on a cat, but that's enough to walk around. They're something like 0.5 watts. That comes to 4.3 kilowatt-hours over the course of a year -- which for me is less than $0.50. And these models don't have a built in dusk-to-dawn light sensor that turns them off. They just run 24/7.

I've got 5 of them in my house (which pretty much covers the whole thing), so that's a whopping $2.50/yr.

Virtually everything you try will cost you more than the power you'll save. Here's a 4-pack of 0.3 watt nightlights with light sensors for $8. https://www.amazon.com/Maxxima-MLN-16-Night-Sensor-Lumens/dp/B00IXWYR42/ Assuming they don't burn out (and my LED nightlights have lasted almost a decade now with no signs of change), your total cost of ownership for the pack until the kid graduates high school will be under $20 (assuming they run an average of 12 hours a day).

Motion sensing, battery-operated LED lights with a stick-on backing. I bought these for under my kitchen cabinets and they're great. It only turns on when it's 1) it's dark and 2) when I'm close by, and it shuts off almost as soon as I walk away. This one runs off AAA batteries, so there's no electrical bill. It looks like OP bought a few of the longer strips and stuck them under the railing (out of sight until turned on).

I use them as under cabinet lighting. However, if you want something more task-oriented Mr Beams is bright as shit.

u/Dyolf_Knip · 2 pointsr/technology

That is absolutely true if you actually do the fucking math. Every single time this shows up here, there's some True Believer who takes whatever PR video or pamphlet given out as absolute gospel and denies that physics is a thing.

This is real simple: Take a 10 kg mass, hoist it 2 meters up under Earth's gravity. That represents an energy potential of 196 joules. If you plan to do that every 30 minutes, that is equivalent to 0.1 watt-hours. Not kilowatt-hours. By way of comparison, you can't really buy a screw-in LED light-bulb that runs on less than 40 times that amount. LED night-lights, which generate just enough light for you to tell if there's something in front of you in the dark, use 3 times that amount. And remember, this is the ideal setup, assuming no losses or inefficiencies at all. In reality, you'll be lucky to pull in even half that.

You want to crank that power generation up, you either have to lift more, lift it higher, or lift it more frequently. To crank it up to levels where you can actually comfortably light up a room, you'd effectively be lifting a very heavy rock up past your ceiling every few seconds.

u/mirandartv · 2 pointsr/airplants

I've got bakers racks that are 4 feet wide and 18 inches deep. I've got two of these super cheap lights on the ceiling and three of them on the under side of every shelf. Some shelves have nursery flats on the whole shelf, so some have more light from the shelves above than others. Put them on with zip ties. They are super cheap and weigh nothing. They are on a timer I adjust every week to go off at sunset and come on at sunrise. This sits on a shelf, right on the rack in front. A couple inchs back, the wires are closer together, so it sits up higher. I moved it forward for the picture.

I have a motion sensing light that illuminates the toilet bowl. It can do a full range of colors, but I have it be green so it doesn't completely blind me. Red is better for maintaining night vision, but a red toilet bowl is a little too spooky for me.

Edit: Here is a link to a light similar to what I have.

Maybe let him pick out some new bedding and a cute stuffed animal to go with it? That might make him excited about his new room. Also, my mom recently bought this for my son: https://www.amazon.com/Lizber-Night-Projector-Degree-Rotation/dp/B01CFI082Y?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1 I was worried it would keep him awake at night, but it has had the opposite effect. He used to come out of his room multiple times when it was bedtime, now he almost never does. Apparently it has some sort of calming effect? In any event, it also might help make the new room a bit more enticing.

Look at the specs of the light. You need 6500k for color temperature and at least 2000 lumens. You can use any light it doesn't have to say it's a grow light. Bulbs can works but will probably need a deflector to focus the light on the plants.

But I just got them off a shelf at a shop in the mall. If you ask for night lights, there's often a rack of them there.

Just make sure they're bright enough, and not colored. My cat didn't like the blue light ones, they were no help. But a little yellow or white spot seems to do the trick.

I have one of these and it works great! It's motion activated so it only comes on when you open the door. It goes off after 12 seconds of no motion. It comes with a magnetic panel that you stick to the inside top of the door frame (or wherever). Then you stick the light to the panel via magnet, so you can pull it down and charge it easily (microUSB).

It's rechargeable and the battery lasts freaking forever because it's not on very much. I have it in a coat closet since May 2018 and I've charged it twice.

It’s LED and is touch on/off. Touch to dim/make brighter. And touch to go from white light to yellow night light. It’s portable so we can bring it with us. And then we give it to him when we are in the car when we travel at night so he has a light so it isn’t too dark.

From my limited knowledge (ie dash cam install, LED lights install), you either need to use an existing source like just upgrading the lights that are already there, OR find an existing 12v in the car to plug into. Depending on the year of the car, there are 12v connections near rear view mirror, below the center screen right side (so by passenger's left foot), in the glove box (older models), and by rear lift gate. Probably others somewhere but I dont know all of them.

I have not done the work myself, but my dash cam was hooked into the passenger footwell 12v (which is NOT an "always on" 12v), and a switch was routed hidden in the small storage area under the screen.

Some people also just buy lighting kits from Evannex or others to install into existing areas.

Others use battery-powered motion sensor LED strips like this one.

Not possible to have an electrician wire a light fixture in your closet? Perhaps you wouldn't be asking if it were possible.

There are these, but you have to charge them with via usb. They are on magnetic strips, but maybe you could hook up a usb powerbank along side it so you wouldn't have to pull it off the ceiling once a week to recharge it.
