ok here it goes
riddle 1 - this Why a spoon, cousin? Well, upon further review of my wishlist one would see that this spoon and a kettle are missing tools of a beer brewing kit. And if you need to ask HOW a beer brewing kit would help in school ... you haven't been to school. "but Pax" you say in an impatient tone "the answer to the riddle isn't beer. True ... the kit can also ferment wine (mind ... blown)
riddle 2 - this I don't have a broom on my wishlist. But with, your broom is my broom...
riddle 3 - this I have two beautiful and awesome toddlers. They like cate in the hat. Who is not awesome. But who is hearing ... a hat! What else s he wearing? A bowtie. Awesome, right?
riddle 4 - the books in latin is biblia - which means that the bible really just means book. This would help me understand it better.
riddle 5 - well, this, obviously the purpose of a trunk is among other to keep things safe (like my spoon, biblia commentary and so) This would help me keep everything safe.
extra point - be honest, when thinking about wearing a cap, one should also wear this

I recently cut a big square hole in the drywall behind my master bedroom door and installed a "between the studs" safe (kinda like this one), and it's pretty awesome. Took like 20 minutes, too - it's great.

Score the drywall with a razor knife, bust it out with a hammer, trim up the edges, set the safe in, drive the lag screws in with a drill, and vacuum up the drywall dust. I didn't do anything really cool like hang a hinged picture frame over it.

As a locksmith, how much better is something like this compared to what OP's friend is making? With any "safe" this cheap are you really just hoping that it's not found?

Edit: If I was really interested in getting a safe worth my while in this form factor, are there any you would recommend?

u/MsCrazyPants70 · 2 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

So, I'm trying to pick out affordable safe options. I've decided the back of one of the closets is the best spot. So far I'm looking at one of these:

Super cheap, and might look obvious in a closet: https://www.amazon.com/Wall-Outlet-Safe/dp/B000SM3NRW/ref=sr_1_5?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1497663044&sr=1-5&keywords=wall+safe&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin%3A6029090011%2Cp_36%3A1253528011.

A bit more:

This looks a bit more like the real deal I think:
https://www.amazon.com/Stalwart-Electronic-Deluxe-Digital-Steel/dp/B00JOJHIY4/ref=sr_1_5?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1497663190&sr=1-5&keywords=wall%2Bsafe&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin%3A6029090011%2Cp_36%3A2000-4000&th=1

I was just thinking what if someone saw this? But then, if this motivated them to buy my house after I get it on the market, then I'm totally cool with that. Maybe I'll tag an addition $5000 onto the price for that sweet reddit karma they would get.

Hola hotpinkfishfood!

I don't believe we've had the pleasure of talking. Over the past month though, I have been working, enjoying the summer and trying to relax during my free time.

Thanks for the contest :)

Agreed. I bought this safe a couple years ago for my pistols. Works fantastic. Has plenty of extra space for valuables as well. Plus it comes with hardware to bolt it to the floor or wall if you want.

u/cacille · 1 pointr/raisedbynarcissists

It's time for you to do some snooping yourself. Next time mom is out - go through the closet. The junk drawer. Under the counters. Top shelf in the bathrooms. Bedroom closets and drawers. Basement. Shed outside. Garage top shelf. Everywhere someone could hide something. Find everything you can. Then, do your own sort of hiding. Not in the house - if need be, get a little metal box, dig a small hole in the yard, (be careful with the grass. make a small chunk and put it back later). Put the box in the hole. Cover and make it look natural.

For the really important stuff like passport, i second the idea of getting one of those under-shirt carry pouches and putting the cards in there.

Also, if you're brave and know a bit about electricity, you could install a 'fake plug" kinda like this (This is the USA version, I'm sure there's a version for other countries as well) http://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Fake-Wall-Outlet-Safe/dp/B0037584Z8 and keep some of the harder-to-carry items you may have (rings, extra cards). All you have to do is disconnect an unused plug in your room and install it. make sure to watch a tutorial "how to change wall socket/plug" video first, and you need to turn off the house elec for a short time also (A few mins).

u/Fairlight2cx · 0 pointsr/CCW

I have this:

https://www.amazon.com/First-Alert-2060F-Digital-Anti-Theft/dp/B002RL9RU4/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1495726578&sr=8-12&keywords=first+alert+safe

Plenty of room inside. I have an M&P M2.0 9mm and an M&P Shield 9mm, plug a spare mag for each, plus two boxes of ammo, and there's room to spare yet. Carpeted decently.

Got mine at Walmart. It was actually a replacementy for a Sentry of a similar make which I had gotten that night, but whose battery compartment fell irreparably out of the back of the door when closing the lid. I do -not- recommend the Sentry. :b~~~ The First Alert is built better.

u/dontwakeuptoofast · 2 pointsr/Drugs

Amazon sells these false wall outlets for under 10 bucks. Pretty fucking awesome.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0037584Z8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1419150144&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40

u/cdnmr · 1 pointr/canadaguns

I have one of these in bedroom closet and holds 3 large handguns or potentially 5 or 6 small ones. Pretty heavy gauge metal. Picked it up for under $100 on Amazon. Only issue is trigger locks can be a tight fit.
http://www.amazon.ca/Stack--PWS-1522-Wall-Electronic-Black/dp/B000VS0I1C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421194731&sr=8-1&keywords=wall+safe

Bigger guns like GP100 6 inch would take up a shelf all by itself.

EDIT: meant as supplementary storage idea, in addition to long gun storage.

u/leewd · 2 pointsr/CCW

Painting was a cheapo from Menards, $15 bucks lol. Biggest in wall safe (depth/width constraints) will only hold 2 shotguns

https://www.amazon.com/Paragon-7700-Electronic-Wall-Safe/dp/B0040HOKGE/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&qid=1484406296&sr=8-21&keywords=wall+safe

u/Gullex · 0 pointsr/TrueReddit

I strongly endorse this safe for handguns.

Keeps kids out but allows you to access your weapon instantly and silently and can be done without looking at the safe.

u/DiDgr8 · 2 pointsr/asktransgender

The key word is "hiding". If you put the pills in their original bottles somewhere your folks can't/won't see, that's the solution. It all depends on your situation. If your folks are really looking for stuff, they'll find it. Fake shaving cream, fake wall sockets, all can work.

u/PwnApe · 1 pointr/guns

I'd go with something like this. Cheap, simple and concealed if you hang a random picture frame over it. Assuming you're alright with doing the install. If you don't want to hang a picture over it, install it somewhere awkward and slap this sticker over it

u/SuperNashwan · 1 pointr/EDC

They're anti-burglar devices. You can get hollow books like these to hide jewelry on your bookshelf, you can buy fake cans to hide valuables in your kitchen, or have fake outlets. You can even get them as WD-40.

u/SomnambulisticTaco · 2 pointsr/Silverbugs

I don't blame you, that's the only thing keeping me from doing it too. Basically you'd rent a jackhammer and tear up a safe sized portion of the concrete, making sure there's nothing under there before you start digging. Then you just drop in one of these bad boys, fill the rest up with wet cement to match the rest of the floor, and you're good to go. Probably a week long project or so, but nobody is getting that thing out of there.

u/Master2u · 1 pointr/guns

Is that something that you have in mind of making? My wood working skills stink so I could never pull that off. I did get this I installed it inside of my closet. I keep meaning to put something over it like a drywall to make it disappear. Help keep the theifs guessing.

u/LeftMySoulAtHome · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I just installed this today. We also have a separate fire safe.

u/iamjustsomejerk · 1 pointr/DarkNetMarkets

get one of these. install it behind a desk and plug a lamp into it. unless you have something particularly smelly hidden in it, nobody will ever think twice about it. http://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Fake-Wall-Outlet-Safe/dp/B0037584Z8

u/cockyrooster · 2 pointsr/trees

Dude just get one of these http://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Fake-Wall-Outlet-Switch/dp/B0037584Z8

I have those all over my house.

u/feature_not_bug · 1 pointr/CCW

I also have this Paragon safe. Now you've got me wondering how hard it would be to unsolder that damn beeper. So loud.

u/Doc308 · 1 pointr/Firearms

Here, let me google that for you... (haha sorry, not trying to be snarky, just couldn't resist) I came up with this and this

u/almostcaughtup · 1 pointr/Drugs

cut hole into the wall the size of an outlet that you plug stuff into. get a wire holder box for the outlet hole you cut. its the size of a fist. ypu can fit probably a oz of weed smushed in there or a stack of money and personal use stuff.

heres what im talking about : https://www.amazon.com/Wall-Outlet-Safe/dp/B000SM3NRW

u/Lachlannn · 1 pointr/Bitcoin

I know something like this is in no way as secure but if no one knew you had anything to hide would they look for it?

https://www.amazon.com/LockState-LS-52EN-Large-Digital-Wall/dp/B002KMK006/191-0986048-2007140?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0

u/ComputerSavvy · 1 pointr/techsupportgore

Wired for power only - controlled by the wall switch and hidden inside the wall behind and below the wall socket.

Most rooms have what is called a switched outlet, usually the top socket controlled by a wall switch and that power socket is usually the farthest from the wall switch. It's intended for use by floor and table lamps so you don't have to walk across a dark room to turn on a light.

By plugging in a lamp to the switched outlet that has a burned out bulb, someone would probably turn the switch off again and then seek out the 2nd lamp in the room, close to the entrance which does work.

The drive would automatically connect to the network by Wi-Fi when powered on by the wall switch. By cloning the MAC of a duplicate drive, when either one and only one at a time were in use, the log files would not be able to distinguish which one was which.

If the decoy drive was left out in the open and seized along with all the other computer equipment, it's MAC address would match what was found in the router's DHCP and computer log files.

As you can probably now see, there are several layers of deception in play here.

It's really fucking sad in this day and age that someone would have to go to these lengths to have privacy for their information, legal or not.

I got this idea after seeing these fake 120V wall outlets that pop out and hide a small storage area for a persons valuables.

Well, today, information is valuable and I expanded on this fake wall outlet idea to make it both actually functional as a power outlet and serve as a data safe.

I would NOT buy one of these cheap plastic fake power outlet safes unless I saw it in person and it matched the color and style of sockets and plates in my house exactly.

When a house is built, the electrical contractor will stick to one brand and style of switches and outlets and they will be typically beige, white or brown, rectangular wall plates with a [single rectangular hole](http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dtools&field-keywords=rocker wall switch) for both sockets and switches or two oval holes for the power outlets that match the small rectangular flip switches. Everything will be uniform throughout the whole house. They may even be a higher end style and more decorative but they will still be uniform everywhere.

That child's learning game you see on Sesame Street, "One of these things is not like the other" will give away which wall socket is the fake one because all the switches and switch plates as well as the wall outlets are beige and there is this one wall outlet that is white and made of flimsy plastic...

"One of these things is not like the other".

Both Sesame Street and the military taught me to pay attention to detail, that's why if someone is serious about hiding something, concealed or in plain sight, you gotta think through all the little details as I've explained in depth in these posts.

For want of a nail the shoe was lost;
For want of a shoe the horse was lost;
For want of a horse the battle was lost;
For the failure of battle the kingdom was lost—
All for the want of a horse-shoe nail.

Little details matter.
