Really wanted to share this as I am really happy I did it!

I haven’t been a very good godparent for my little nephews, I attended the usual ceremonies like baptism and first holy communion but as they are both old enough to read now I wanted to start to become involved in their prayer lives.

I heard someone mention years ago how they used to collect prayer cards and I thought as kids love to collect cards as a way of ordering things I decided to try this out.

I found out their favourite colours and ordered leather credit card holders from Amazon, the ones with the 20-25 clear sleeves inside so you can read both sides of an inserted card.

Now each time I go to confession I will pick up a couple of prayer cards (much cheaper from local church giftshops) and post them down with a holy card from the giftshop. Its really cheap to send something so lightweight and also helps me maintain contact with the little buggers as I normally forget all about them. Hopefully they will retain not just the prayer cards themselves but also my little holycards too and the short contact messages I include every 3-4 weeks.

Eventually I may run out but there are enough cards there for a good few years and by then I will have felt like I have contributed a lot more to their spiritual development than the nothing I probably would have done otherwise.

My sister was delighted at the idea and the kids seemed happy too when they text me, probably strong-armed in to it by the mother though lol Let me know if you think it’s a good idea and you are going to try it! :O) God bless.

edit: /u/conparco kindly found this beautiful holder that fits the longer cards!

I don't really know if there is EVER a BIFL wallet, but I bought this one three years ago, and it's the best I've ever bought. It's nylon with bits of rubber. The best thing about it is that it's super slim and fits in your back pocket very easily without any real problems. I bought it because someone here on BIFL recommended it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006LQLSFS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/GL1207 · 3 pointsr/EDC

I'd recommend this package from Amazon: Victorinox Tinker and Classic.
It's a great set of tools that allow for really good flexibility. Swiss Army Knives are great knives for starters and for experienced users. They're durable, fulfill many tasks with their tools, and very compact for their functionality. It will also help you determine whether or not you want a dedicated knife for more focused tasks.

And an added suggestion for a new wallet: Big Skinny.

Some popular options around here:

  • Magpul Daka $15 - A nice, inexpensive option for a very slim wallet.

  • Herschel Charlie $20 - A very slim wallet, mostly for cards, but can hold cash as well. RFID blocking. Comes in a multitude of patterns.

  • Recycled Firefighter $30 - Very popular slim wallet. Made of recycled fire hoses, very tough-should last a lifetime. Holds 4-8 cards and cash.

  • Big Skinny Slimline $25 - Just your average, classic Bi-fold wallet. Slimmer than most other options in this style.

  • Vaultskin Chelsea $25 - A nice, slim, leather wallet. RFID Blocking is always nice these days. And if the Chelsea is not quite your style, then Vaultskin also has a bunch of other styles in quality materials that may be to your liking. The Manhatten is another popular one.

  • Ridge Wallet $65+ - A bit more pricy option, but very popular. Made with premium materials, and has a classy design. very sleek, and it'll work with cash or cards. You can also find some knockoffs on amazon that will do the same thing at a much lower price point.

Slim Wallet RFID Front Pocket Wallet Minimalist Secure Thin Credit Card Holder (OneSize, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EWYMXWM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_x5IbzbRGYV5WA

bought this one a couple weeks ago and love it. i'm over traditional wallets, i like to wear perfectly fitting clothes over baggies ones, so a bulky wallet is super uncomfortable and leaves an awkward bulge in my pocket. i fit 2 credit cards, 2 school cards, my real id and 2 fakes in this and i've had up to $260 in all 20's and it's been pretty thin so i fucking love it. plus the fakes fit into the side pocket so they're completely out of sight.

u/quattrophile · 1 pointr/AskMen

Even the nicest reinforced leather wallets I somehow demolish within a year, plus they’re always too thick.

I picked up this one a few months ago and I love it so far. Two thick cards of carbon fiber held together with a super strong elastic band that has carbon fiber reinforced seams (and comes with 4 different bands).

u/hemoglobinBlue · 1 pointr/EDC

https://www.amazon.com/Exentri-Trifold-Leather-Wallet-Locking/dp/B009IMCGBW

Like every other minimalist wallet, it has external quick access credit card pockets.

So far it is the best minimalist wallet I've found that you can still put paper money inside of like a regular wallet. I'm not the type to publicly flash cash around like the other wallets require you to do.

u/Jgriff808 · 2 pointsr/EDC

I use front pocket wallets as well. My last one was a Secrid, and my current one is a Nimble. Secrid is thicker, but has a cool card slide feature. I'm loving the Nimble. It was a Kickstarter, but now has a site. I've put links for both, if you'd like to have a look.

u/TheRealWhoop · 1 pointr/AskUK

I use one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009IMCGBW/ it is RFID blocking but has two easy slide out access slots so might suit your requirement without getting hit by card clash? It's pretty thin if you've only 3 cards in it, I hold more than that and it expands nicely.

u/PCup · 1 pointr/AskMen

I love the Storus Sandy Money clip. It keeps my driver's license and important cards easily accessible. It slides nicely into pockets. And since the clip can only hold so many extra cards / checks / cash, it forces you to simplify down to the things you actually need.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001RMO3NK

u/conparco · 3 pointsr/Catholicism

Yes, I found it on Amazon. For anyone looking to buy one, please check out your local Catholic bookstore before buying online. Not only was this cheaper, but it’s always good to support small family-owned businesses!

u/ht1237 · 1 pointr/EDC

Yep, that's exactly what happened to mine. Didn't have any trouble after removing the stitches for the band. I think you may run into the same issue with the band on the leather one, but as long as you're ok only using it for a year or two, it looks pretty sweet.

I actually switched to this one, with no band. Infinity Wallet.

u/itsnames · 4 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I LOVE my Slimmy from Amazon

I've used mine daily for 5 years now and it's still working great.

u/irpepper · 3 pointsr/shutupandtakemymoney

I bought this last year and I love it. It's very thin, has a removable money clip, easy access card, ID display, and a larger card pocket with a pull tab in it. Highly recommend for 30 bucks.

u/boliver7 · 1 pointr/churning

I really like this Boconi. Got it as a gift a couple of years ago - can fit a surprising amount in a small space: https://www.amazon.com/Boconi-Weekender-Antiqued-Mahogany-Houndstooth/dp/B00LBME9BM/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1481166323&sr=8-6&keywords=boconi

Fossil Men's Ingram Magnetic Multi-Card Wallet, Brown, One Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008CL27DM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_I.JZAb197MHBY

I've had that wallet for a few years now and I love it. It's not waterproof, but it's pretty tough, it's been through my washer at least a couple times.

Each of those slots will hold 2-3 cards. I keep my ID and door badge in the slot on the money clip side. The money clip can hold 10-15 bills securely.

u/TheCopernicus · 1 pointr/wallets

Yeah, I guess I could see if it was the perfect wallet with lifetime warranty. I went ahead and picked this up to get a feel for the style. If I like it I might give the one you recommended a shot.

u/PackingLite · 4 pointsr/onebag

I did a video on a bi-fold which is pretty light and slim. The other two wallets visible at the beginning of the video are the Saddleback front pocket wallet and the slimmy front pocket wallet. I use the Slimmy most often, its a great thin wallet.

u/adoremeandiadoreyou · 3 pointsr/AskMen

This one. Super minimalist, but holds several cards and cash. Works great in front pockets, too.

u/NateTheGreatOutdoors · 1 pointr/EDC

I have and love this slim wallet. Here are some pictures of it in use.

I currently have 4 CCs, DL, insurance card, and prescription card, along with like $50 in cash (whatever cash is... someone told me that stores take it in exchange for things). It'll hold a few more than that as well.

u/garettg · 3 pointsr/churning

Infinity Wallet Men's Minimalist Wallet (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W8TU6DC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pdKLzbSH7S3WS

I have this, 4 cards per slot, 2 slots, has an option of cash, but like you I pretty much never carry it.

u/josephschmitt · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I’ve been using this card case from Boconi for about 5 years https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LBME9BM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ia0DAbJ3MRCYT

I can fit 6-8 cards + ID + cash pretty easily and it stays very slim.

u/half_liquid · 1 pointr/minimalism

I've been pretty happy with this one, might want to check it out.

I've seen a lot of people complain about magnetic money clips, but this thing is extremely practical and I haven't had any issues. My roomate liked it so much he bouth this other one.

u/lopazopy · 2 pointsr/EDC

I like the Big Skinny Mini Skinny. Tough to find it in stock on Amazon though. Awesome price at $10.

u/CoolLikeAFoolinaPool · 0 pointsr/minimalism

If you have the money get one of these Rfid protected and cool lever to push cards out stagered. This cleaned my wallet up to half the size. I only keep my bank cards and ID in it. The other cards like membership cards you can get apps for and put them on your phone.

u/leftybanks · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

This is what I have. It's...boring to look at, sure. But it's slim yet it fits a slew of cards plus cash plus my ID. And most importantly, it easily fits into my front pocket which is what I was looking for.

u/Neon-Predator · 4 pointsr/EDC

I use this one. It's pretty thin and I've been carrying around like 10 bills, like 8 cards or so, and a couple of bandaids and iodine pads to boot. It still has an empty card slot, too. The excess leather on folding wallets really does add all the bulk.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EWYMXWM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/RndmRanger · 1 pointr/EDC

Yeah. I was looking at some other wallets as well such as

Herschel fabric wallet https://www.amazon.com/Herschel-Supply-Co-Charlie-Blocking/dp/B01M0P5LG7/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=minimal+wallet&qid=1556128729&s=gateway&sr=8-8

Hagpul DAKA everday wallet https://www.amazon.com/Magpul-DAKA-Everyday-Wallet/dp/B0755Q32LF/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=magpul+wallet&qid=1556128759&s=gateway&sr=8-2

But one of the reasons I went with the nomatic was because it's elastic and has that multi-use pocket as well.

u/charliefuckstick · 2 pointsr/minimalist

I use one of these, but I can't really speak for durability other than it hasn't started to wear down or crease or anything. It's a super slimmed down design with slots for 2 cards on each side, and a pinch-open fold in the middle for cash or whatever.

u/CallingYouOut2 · 2 pointsr/travel

I just did Paris in August. I ended up doing one of those chained wallets inside my pacsafe bag. Like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Pacsafe-RFIDsafe-Anti-Theft-Blocking-Charcoal/dp/B00MOF7TDK

I just clipped it to the d-ring inside the bag and I didn't have to worry about someone trying to walk off with it. It's kind of clunky and definitely NOT something you would want to carry in a pocket but I thought it worked well inside my bag.

I have always liked Big Skinny. Their wallets are insanely slim, mainly because the inner walls are a very thin synthetic. I am currently rocking this one http://www.amazon.com/Big-Skinny-Slimline-Leather-Bi-Fold/dp/B0048F88CU which has a leather outside. They are built very well, and I have not had any problems with them (this is my second, the first one got stolen).

u/no1_vern · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I suggest you check out the "smart money clip" for 5 good reasons:

  1. I must have ID showing at all times at work, and with my ID card showing without a plastic layer over it, I have seldom been required to remove it from the clip.

  2. I am able to use the clip to hook my ID on my shirt sleeve or my pocket, or hang on a lanyard without having to "fuss" over it.

  3. If you put two cards with the raised numbers facing each other(one upside down) you can get enough room in this clip for 6 to 7 cards.

  4. My wife bought this for me back in 91, and I haven't had any problems from it.

  5. This is all I have needed to carry my CCs, ID, insurance cards. Of note, I do not keep/use cash much(none if I can help it), so if you are a big believer in carrying cash around, this wallet might not be good for you.

I actually have this one from Big Skinny. Love it, I don't care very many cards though so it works perfectly and I don't even notice it's there. It's not leather but the same company makes many versions of fold open and just card holders.

http://www.amazon.com/Big-Skinny-Mini-Wallet-Black/dp/B00487749G/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1418084288&sr=8-25&keywords=big+skinny+thin+wallet

It has held up for over two years in my back pocket every day.

I used a razor blade and removed the big skinny rubber piece to make it even thinner.

If you feel like slimming it down some more or want to try something else, I really love this wallet: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00W8TU45W/

It's really just a little sleeve for your cards. Gets a little hard to use with 4+ cards, but just right with 4 cards or less.

u/suuuuuu · 3 pointsr/churning

I refuse to move to anything other than a slim wallet/card holder (i.e. not a bifold/trifold), and after extensive searching have found this as the slim wallet holding the most cards while also having an ID window. 7 card slots, one middle slot, and the three "middle"/horizontal slots can fit two cards. It isn't the best quality, but it's $15 and, like I said, holds the most cards.

u/onwee · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I use the Slimmy. It works well enough (2 years and going) for my purposes (6 cards, couple of bills, day's worth of folded receipts).

u/That_Face · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I've been in the same wallet searching abyss, for about 2 years. I was thinking I would go Belroy until I actually held one in Brooklyn. Not worth $90. My gf bought me a Saddleback Leather bifold but it's a Costanza and I was trying to avoid the Costanza. Bought the following wallet on Amazon for around $30 and I fucking love it. This is the wallet I use except I took off the chain.

It meets all my requirements:

  • Full RFID protection
  • Full zip-around so nothing falls out
  • Loop to attach my car keys
  • Large enough to fit tons of plastic (10-15 cards) + cash and business cards

u/unprotectedsax · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I've got a Slimmy hehe. I've had it for atleast a year. I love it. I don't really have a lot of shit to carry around so it's perfect if all you have is a couple of IDs, buspass, debit card, and a couple of bucks. It's so slim. I like skinny jeans and I can barely see it in my pocket.

u/buttersauce · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

This is a true minimalist wallet that is probably the best wallet I've ever owned. Had it a year now and no wear and tear at all. Costs 13 dollars and has a see through license pocket, and enough for 6-8 cards while still remaining thin enough to be in your front pocket.

I hate carrying cash but it has a middle pocket in case you do get any unexpectedly.

I use a money clip https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001RMO3NK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_hByZAbYARAP87
I put my AP card on top when I’m at the Parks. That way, I can reach into my pocket and grab the clip to scan the barcode on top and scan in. I used to put the FP reminders in the clip when we had Signature but now we have Sig+ and use MaxPass so I screenshot my FPs on my phone in the case of the FP disappearing in the app. I also use my Apple Watch with Apple Pay when purchasing things so I don’t end up having to take coins or bills into the parks. Spending money has never been so easy!

u/ChIck3n115 · 1 pointr/EDC

If I'm stuck with only two front pockets, phone and wallet in left, keys and knife in right (or knife in waistband). I just have a thin wallet, so it fits fine in either pocket. Usually it goes phone lower left, wallet/keys upper left, gun upper right, multitool lower right. I never use the back pockets for much of anything, just feels weird.
