First time posting here in Baby Bumps, but I’ve been a long time commenter/fan of this sub. Currently 38+6 and a FTM. I LOVE seeing everyone’s nurseries and am so excited to share ours! Had so much fun putting the nursery together.

Here are some of the things we got that I love in our nursery:

  1. Birch tree removable wallpaper: NuWallpaper NU1650 Birch Tree Peel and Stick Wallpaper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q00PA40/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_IgYADbV0S2SB6

  2. Dragon mobile: Baby Unisex Dragon Mobile for Crib Room Decor Nursery Baby Shower Gift https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CSMR1Y3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_phYADbATRKFC4

  3. Green geometric rug: Well Woven Isometry Blue & Grey Modern Geometric Triangle Pattern 7'10" x 9'10" Area Rug Soft Shed Free Easy to Clean Stain Resistant https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LZPL8Q1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0hYADb4YGYXBN

  4. Birch tree stump laundry bag: Jacone Stylish Tree Stump Shape Design Storage Basket Cotton Fabric Washable Cylindric Laundry Hamper with Rope Handles, Decorative and Convenient for Kids Bedroom https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M6DVUMJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_wiYADb71SJQHE

  5. Woodland Animals Crib bedding set - Sweet Jojo Designs https://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/sweet-jojo-designs-woodland-toile-crib-bedding-collection/238019?keyword=sweet-jojo-woodlands-crib

I know we will probably have to adjust things in the nursery once the baby comes and he gets older (I’ve seen plenty of moms comment on here how they laugh at some of the nurseries because they’ll eventually get wrecked or puked on or whatever) but for right now, I absolutely love it. I wanted to have a lush, forest feel...with dragons!

Good luck to all the moms out there. I’m so excited to become a mom myself. :)

Throwing out a few ideas.

Starting with the pine countertop. Apply a contact paper such as this marble one to add a more refined look. Choose a contact paper that is made for countertops and matches your home. Consider something similar to your bathroom or kitchen counters. There are many styles of contact paper such a tile and stained wood. I would also add table legs like these to stabilize the countertop, especially for my next suggestion. Make sure the countertop sits at least a couple of inches above your washer and dryer (I know it seems like a no brainer but just in case).

To help distract away from everything thats going on, I would add a cube shelving unit like this one. Use fabric cube boxesto store your detergent and other cleaning supplies. They come in different colors and designs. Make sure you order the right size for your shelving unit. This idea would help visually clean up the space. If you decided to do this, I would remove the wall shelf. I would not suggest doing this without attaching table legs to the pine.

Throw up a tension rod with a neutral curtain to divide off the room. I would use rings since fabric on rod isn’t good for constant movement. If your home calls for it or you’re into some extra, look into decorative hooks.

Hopefully my suggestions will help you create a great laundry room that fits your needs and requests.

Thank you so much! I LOVE your ideas. I really like the first wallpaper, but it wouldn't work like you said The keyhole wallpaper was an awesome idea, so I looked up some and this came up wallpaper. I ordered it! I really like it, you can't tell from the picture, but it's damask background behind the keys. I am only doing one wall with the wallpaper and possibly the hallway, but I am not sure yet.

I am definitely doing that pocket wall watch...I would have NEVER ever thought of something like that.

So, the big blank wall will have that wallpaper, I have to find a big mirror and then see what else is going to happen over there lol.

I love when people help me out with my ideas, so thank you!

u/dawndilioso · 3 pointsr/infertility

Yea, some of those low tow ratings are STUPID. Why does the outback or forester only have a 2000 capacity!? I ended up trading my forester for a jeep liberty CRD which had a tow rating of 5000, before moving to another "family car" which now has a 7,200 tow.

I mostly do music festivals and state camp grounds so the bathrooms aren't always an issue. I had one of those cassette toilets that was small enough to fit in a cupboard, but my husband refused to use it and when I was camping with friends it was a little awkward :D I had a pop up shower tent and those good old fashioned solar shower bags. I even was able to hang one on the outside of the trailer with a super duty suction cup and run it through the window to get hot water to the sink. It was loads of fun macgyvering things.

Just a suggestion, but I ended up covering my upholstery instead of redoing it. If the padding is still good anyway. That let me go with some crazy fun fabrics with out fears that I was going to kill resale. I also opted to cover my cabinets with contact paper for similar reasons, less permanent, but I could pick something fun. I highly recommend finding sticky vinyl tiles if you want to do a backsplash. Virtually no weight, but clean up nicely. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Art3d-Stick-Kitchen-Backsplash-Tiles/dp/B074J9LHN2/ref=sr_1_36?keywords=stick+vinyl+tiles&qid=1557176946&s=gateway&sr=8-36 (but to your own taste obvi). Oh! and if suction cups will stick to the exterior, you can get shower baskets with suction cups which can be turned in to faux window planters (and removed for driving).

You are going to have so much fun!

You said a lot of what I would, so I'll add...

Walls: a warm gold tone would brighten the room and go well with the brick and map

Railing: replace it with wrought iron or a combo of wood and wrought iron

Coffee table: I realize it's just a render, but the table looks too small and the shape doesn't fit. Something like this would be awesome.

Curtains: velvet material in either ruby or emerald color

Ceiling fan: find a less modern fan than the one in your render

Book shelf: is it possible to make that whole wall into a bookshelf? If not, consider creating the illusion of a floor to ceiling bookshelf by using bookshelf wallpaper. And if there's room, add a rolling ladder.

French doors: make the glass into stained glass by either replacing it with real stained glass, painting it with glass paint, or use stickies.

And speaking of stickies...
Gecko: you could turn your gecko into quite the gentleman by putting a vinyl decal on the glass whenever your gecko sits against the glass :)

You're off to a great start, OP!

Are you in the right place? This is Home Improvement.

Okay, I'm sorry. If you want a brick wall, this is one way. If you used the right weak adhesive and just painted the wall with sanded, grout color paint instead of grouting, you could pop them off and skim coat.
http://www.amazon.com/Colonial-Collection-Thin-Brick-Boston/dp/B0097CNS10/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418369256&sr=8-1&keywords=brick+veneer&pebp=1418369260637

A photographic wallpaper may get you where you want with just a paint job needed when you leave:
http://www.amazon.com/Wallpaper-Faux-Tuscan-Brick-Looks/dp/B004DF56MU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1418369256&sr=8-5&keywords=brick+veneer

And, these seem the best overall value and ease of removal, the look is a bit clunky:

I like the styrofoam idea. Find a foam shop and they will help you find the right foam and slice it into a thousand brick-sized pieces. Throw a party and have everyone use their fingernails to weather it or scrape notes. Mount and paint.

Wondering about a deep skim coat and stamped concrete forms ...

u/2worldtraveler · 2 pointsr/interiordecorating

I've been in love with this wallpaper for a while. It would look great in a theater room.
https://www.amazon.com/Novogratz-CO472-Constellations-Removable-Wallpaper/dp/B07CJSZWFB/

Also, be patient with looking for things that fit your theme and build it up over time. There's a lot of joy in that. IMO, of course. But also, yes, nothing wrong with merging those themes if you're in a hurry.

u/thesongbirdy · 2 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

That front room is so large, you have enough space for both a living/tv space and a playspace, if you want.

I'm not sure what your budget is, so I don't want to suggest too much, but I made a real quick sketch of what might work. The new pieces in this picture include a new bookshelf to separate the playspace from the living space, a TV stand, and extra seating. Side tables with a lamp or two, as well as a floor lamp would be nice, too.

As far as the bookshelves go, the fact that they are stark white and the rest of the room and molding is a cream color actually makes the bookshelves look cheaper. Are you open to painting the bookshelves? If that sounds like too much work, maybe lining the inside with a contact paper that ties the bookcase and walls together. Here are a couple of options: 1, 2, 3. Further upgrade those bookcases with a splurge on some cool handles. Anthropologie has some really neat and unique pieces that would really elevate the look of those shelves.

Are the curtains and valance staying? They don't really support your homey/modern taste.

Where did you get that pup-style tent? The grey one? I've been looking for a non-teepee style tent.

Thank you!!

It was actually this desk https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8790044

I always had white desks before but i wanted a change. Literally 10 minutes after assembling it i was like “SHIT should have got a white one” lmfao.

So instead of the hassle of returning it - i got a vinyl wrap to cover it! This is the one i used https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005GJB2Z2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_M-4UDbF54X4WR

It came as a roll and i just applied it with a hair dryer and a vinyl scraper thing :)

u/crowdsurfnturf · 2 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

I'm wondering about the dimensions in this room... It seems like it might be hard to fit a queen/king size bed from what the pictures show. Unless you have a twin or full, it might be too cluttered to fit everything? Ideally, you would not want anything to be against that heater. And how much are you willing to spend on time and money into this project?

With no constraints, I would suggest removing that carpet as you had originally said. Put in those dark laments. Repainting the ceiling and walls would make a huge difference.

Green and white wall = repaint white. Don't forget baseboards and ceiling either. You don't want to have different shades of white going on.

Blue wall = Accent wall. Use wallpaper or peel and stick decals. Possibly one similar to these? One, two, three. Amazon has quite a bit of options. You would want to give the room some texture. You already have the built in storage so you don't want to get too crazy by painting all of the walls different colors and drawing attention to every side of the room.

If you are strapped on space for space I could suggest something that would take a little bit of effort and vision. Which would be to remove those first 3-4 storage doors. So you have that L shape. Hallow it out, and put a desk in. Decorating inside of there would be another story haha.

I believe that could give you enough room for a nice reading chair to sit to the left of the heater, pointing at an angle facing the blue wall. Having only shelves on the right of the heater where you could put your books?

Not sure if that helped at all, but I would love to see whatever the outcome is!

Congratulations, that's an amazing result, especially considering that budget. And those counter tops....that must've been an absolute pain. If you're looking for an easy low-budget marble option next time, there are also some other options (some of those actually look fairly realistic if you look at the photos!). But yeah... impressive! Old oak, away with you!

u/TheRupertPupkin · 1 pointr/battlestations

This is the one I bought. It's half the price I paid now but that's due to the quality. If you're inexperienced like me when it comes to putting up wallpaper I recommend spending more for better quality.

u/rugbystud137 · 7 pointsr/HomeImprovement

This was the product we used, but the 50sq ft version. This is much more involved than the paint and holds up much better. The top coat was the only tricky part, we didn't get it on quite perfect, but now that it's dry you can't tell unless you are looking at just the right angle.

u/NebulousJenn · 1 pointr/ikeahacks

I had the white stars already, but the gold paper came from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q7YKV7R

Edit: want to add that I’d recommend that paper for furniture projects! It’s water proof and seems pretty thick/durable.

u/LPOMickeyD · 1 pointr/AdeptusCustodes

I tried and tried and tried to paint realistic looking marble but was unsatisfied with the results. So I took a file and smoothed all of the tops of my bases down and used contact paper. Because it's a vinyl gloss, it looks like polished marble and I'm very happy with it. 6 dollars and it's covered my whole army, even with avoiding spots that don't have the marble veins in it.

u/digby723 · 3 pointsr/ikeahacks

Thank you! Amazon; a friend used it in the past and recommended it. Link to it is here.

u/thatscoolkyle · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

You might consider a paintable wallpaper instead of drywall, which won't add as much thickness. Something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Liner-Heavy-White-Prepasted-Wallpaper/dp/B000EMWO7G

A couple of rooms in my house have this - previous homeowners hung it over cracked plaster to hide the cracks. It turned out pretty good.

u/tea-for-me-please · 4 pointsr/femalelivingspace

Yeah! I use marble contact paper from amazon :) these are the most realistic looking sheets I could find!

u/K1NGKHAN · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Hmm I hadn't thought of removable wallpaper.

I just took a look at some and thought this brick one would look sweet as an accent wall (the wall with my TV)

http://www.amazon.com/Wallpaper-Faux-Tuscan-Brick-Looks/dp/B004DF56MU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1420739493&sr=8-3&keywords=removable+wallpaper

I'd still want to change up the colors of the other walls though. Any ideas on what color would work well? Perhaps a dark grey?

As for the carpet, I sort of like the color.

u/red2020 · 1 pointr/interiordecorating

Use the decorative wallpaper peels They won't harm the walls and look amazing!

u/FloVas · 14 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

I am indeed UK, and I might even have a tester of Egyptian Cotton from picking my living room paint!

I actually found it on a Buzzfeed article! It was in the background of a listicle point flogging something else, so I did some searching, leading me to Home Depot, and then Amazon US: https://www.amazon.com/Novogratz-CO472-Constellations-Removable-Wallpaper/dp/B07CJSZWFB
It's self adhesive, and with the complexity of the pattern, I'm thinking getting a pro in is better than me trying to muddle my way through it!

u/soakley75 · 5 pointsr/HomeImprovement

That is a different product than what OP used. This is the correct one. Seems to have better reviews.

u/CosmicFleece · 4 pointsr/makeuporganization
