I'm slowly building my collection, so after posting a question and seeing a few recommendations, I bought a couple fairly cheap NATO bands to as a way to change the look of my two watches as Well as save the bracelets from too much wear and tear.

I bought these bands with minimal research into quality as a way to feel a NATO strap on my wrist and to see what I would get going cheap

STRAP 1: Infantry Nato Zulu 22 mm nylon band (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B23NIOY/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_huSKxbJPNHJSG)

I bought this band first hoping to use it on my citizen eco drive, as the bracelet by now had received considerable scratching while being worn day to day. I thought that the black on black would look good and simple. Now wearing it I think all future bands I get for it will have chrome or stainless loops.

The band is very comfortable on my wrist and and I do like the feel of it at work (IT Director for a large automotive Dealership group) the band did not bother my as I sweat a lot in my job, especially this time of year.

What is bothering is that the band is cheap, very cheap, yes the band is only $10 but that's on sale, and at its normal price of $14 I would pass on this as the nylon is avlready fraying on the band. Further, and most upsetting, I am still unsure of what the loops and buckle are made of, you would assume it's metal, and I hope it is, but it's so light, cheap and flimsy I can bend the loops with my hand, further it doesn't have any hint of a metal feel to it, the paint is thick, but peels easily (I rubbed my nail on it because I was honestly unsure if it was metal).

STRAP 2: StrapsCo 20 mm Faded Leather strap (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016NOTNQI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_wOSKxb2M1XYXH)

I ordered this strap because I wanted a strap for my Hamilton and my 22 mm did not fit (learn to measure kids) I just got this strap and love the look of it on the Hamilton and It also assures me that the stainless loops and buckles will look great on the Citizen. For $15 the band doesn't look bad, though I would prefer better leather (more money will be spent!) You can't beat the price. However the treatment on the leather is thick and leaves a strong smell and the band is flaking a bit already.

All in all I like the look of the NATO style band and would recommend doing what I didnt here, more research in advance, I would love more recommendations of where to buy in the future! Also the money you spend is worth it here, I'm not a fan of how cheap these bands feel, but can I complain when they are just that.

There are so many great options under $500! As you noted, Swiss Made is pretty much out of the question at this price point, but that's okay. The brands that you are mainly going to be looking at here are the Japanese brands: Seiko and Orient. Here are my favorites from cheapest to most expensive, including links to where you can buy them.

  1. In my opinion, the absolute best automatic watch to start out with -- especially if you're not sure if you'll be collecting watches long term -- is a Seiko 5 ($55). With its solid automatic movement and exhibition caseback, it's an incredible value for the price. Swap in a brown leather strap and you have a very attractive watch for under $80 total.

  2. Of course you already know that the Orient Bambino V2 is another great option -- very similar to the Seiko 5 but a bit less casual and more high end in appearance. Retail on this one is $300, but it can usually be had for below $200. Long Island Watch had it on sale for $117 very recently but unfortunately it is now sold out.

  3. If you want a tool watch, something a little bit more rugged, definitely go for an Orient Ray II ($185) or a Seiko SKX007 ($199 - bracelet version linked but also available on a black rubber strap). I personally own both of those watches and they are both awesome.

Hope this helped. I would also recommend checking out some watch reviews on Worn and Wound. They specialize in affordable mechanical watches so there are plenty of pieces on there under $500. I could have mentioned some but there are too many good ones to name really. Take a look, maybe something might catch your eye!

First time posting here! I consider myself a watch enthusiast with a small but meaningful collection. I was talking to a friend on vacation and he showed me a watch he built. I got inspired and did some research to get ideas.

I found this post on reddit and felt like I had to try it myself.

After watching this video, I went to ebay, Amazon, and Esslinger to get started.

I'd also highly recommend some gloves and patience! You definitely need to be careful with the hands as they are delicate and you really need to push straight down to get them on there.

I'm still not sure if I like the crown, but I'm pretty happy overall!

I hope this inspires others to give it a try.

About a year ago, I bought my brother a Strapcode Super Engineer II 22mm bracelet, as he has a good number of watches in that size. He absolutely loves the thing, and uses it quite often.

I, too, was quite taken with the product, but I guess I always had something else to blow my spending money on, as I never got one for myself.

Until now, that is. I adore this bracelet already.

It is flawlessly machined (brushed with polished sides), gorgeous and just oozes quality.

As fond as I was of my original ORIENT Mako, the end-link situation relegated her to NATO territory, and I really am a bracelet kind of guy.

Then I bought the MakoUSA and forgot about my other watches for a while (those solid end-links did the trick).

Last week, a fellow redditor was looking for bracelet suggestions, and I offered up the Strapcode as a possibility.

Realising that it was time to get one of these beauties for myself, I did just that...and here are some photos!

The thing really is top-drawer. Easy to install (I don't mind straight ends at all and the fatboy spring-bars that are included fit precisely) and a joy to adjust (I dig the screws over friction pins), I have literally not one complaint.

Highest recommendation!

u/Jake_the_Snake88 · 3 pointsr/Watches

This is my Seiko Presage SRPB41J9, or as everyone calls it, "cocktail time." There are many like it, but this is my own. I got it for pretty cheap from Ebay, and it's definitely my favorite so far. This picture doesn't exactly do it justice, but it really does shine beautifully in the sunlight. I'm very slowly moving up from basic quartz Timex and Casios and onto finer pieces.

In attempts to keep things interesting so that I don't grow bored of a watch and think about blowing money on a new one, I've been getting different straps instead. I've found that mixing up straps keeps things from getting stale and makes it much easier to match with different clothing. The original bracelet is above the watch. The others are both cheap alternatives from Amazon. Here is the link for the steel Milanese strap and here is the link for the leather strap.

Edit: shoutout to /r/WatchesCirclejerk with this fun NATO from 4th of July

u/extraminimal · 6 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I'm posting top-level so as not to get drawn into the ongoing debate.

Truly formal dress calls for no watch at all.

If you're wearing a watch, it isn't important whether the band is leather or metal. It matters far more the gestalt of proportions, design, etc.

Yeah, a leather band will generally look a little more formal than a metal band, but it depends on the leather and it depends on the metal. Which of these is more formal? IMO, it's a wash. Of course, this is a casual watch, but the comparison demonstrates things aren't always so simple.

I'm all for obsessing over minutiae, but the important thing is this: nobody will care whether your band is leather or metal. Nobody will care. Unless one looks substantially better than the other on your wrist and with your clothing. In which case, choose based on that, not based on perceived formality. Wear what looks better and what functions better.

Mostly, people associate metal bands with bracelets on clunky dive watches and the like; whereas, they associate leather with slim dress watches. If you wear metal with a suit, people will just assume you're being intentionally subversive — albeit, in a very minor way.

As far as pros go:

With metal you only need one band for all your shoes and belts, but with leather, you might want two or three.

Good leather will wear nicely with age, but metal will stay looking mostly the same.

Brand new to this hobby. I'm a broke college student, but this was a great buy for just 200. Hoping to save up for a Max Bill one of these days.

This watch has a lot of fun quirks. The Sun and Moon thing is mostly useless, but it's quite pretty. The day and date are very nifty though. Also, the watch has hacking seconds, which is neat. And the ticks are in quarters of seconds, so in low-light it looks like it's continuously turning. I'm brand new to automatics- not sure how I feel about having to adjust it by a couple minutes every few weeks, but it's okay. It's awesome to look at the "weight" thing rolling around as it charges.

Here's the watch strap, in case anyone's curious. Not a huge fan of the stock strap.

u/CrankyWanker · 1 pointr/Watches

Hi /r/Watches!

I've been on the hunt for six months now for the perfect band for this watch, and I think my search is finally over! This Orient Esteem was my first automatic. While I loved the dial and case, I never liked the super shiny leather band it came on. I switched it out for a black perlon, and while I liked that better, it was too dressed down for what I wanted it to be. After finally trying a stainless steel mesh strap, I felt like I found a fit! What do you guys think?

I'm open to honest feedback, so please let me know if any other band would look better! I want to wear this as a dress watch.

In case anyone is wondering, I purchased this Hadley Roma band. I would recommend it, I feel that it's well made for the price and I think it looks great.

u/gelmo · 1 pointr/Watches

Long-time r/Watches lurker, my first post here! Thanks to this great community for all you’ve done to inspire and refine my tastes in gentlemanly accessories.

I’ve had this watch about 6 months now and swapped through a bunch of NATOs - as someone who exclusively wore a stainless bracelet watch for years, I’ve really loved being able to try out different straps. Each one seems to gives the watch a new look and personality!

I bought this strap (a Hadley Roma) from Amazon for my Seiko chrono, but it never felt quite right and ended up sitting in a drawer. Recently I’ve been lusting after vintage military-style field watches, doing some price shopping on Kabatime/eBay and almost pulled the trigger a couple times.

Last night I decided to try out this strap combo, thought it might scratch the itch until I can find the right Hamilton – totally exceeded my expectations! I originally bought this Weekender as a knockaround watch, but I think it’s found a spot in the rotation. So far I had only worn it on NATO, and I love the way this strap style looks with the lugs. Also really happy with the color combo, and the more refined look. Totally works for a casual day at the office and I’ll be wearing it hiking this weekend for a real field trial!

I’m always looking for more strap suggestions, would love to hear what you think and see how you rock your Weekenders!

u/acboenisch · 2 pointsr/Watches

The actual strap that comes on the Rodina is kinda junky but the design is pretty basic brown leather so there are lots of superior options available. I highly recommend Hadley-Roma for affordable high-quality straps. I've bought a few things from them and every one has been great and I think many other people will also testify to that.

I don't have links to AUS specific Amazon pages but you might consider something like this, this, or this. I personally have the last one along with one of their deployant clasps (18mm clasp for the 20mm straps!) and think it looks great.

u/JoCoLaRedux · 1 pointr/Watches

I know, bands can cost a lot. I have the Hadley-Roma Chestnut band for my SNK803, and somebody recently posted a pic of the same one on the SNK809, although it's not the best quality, but good enough that you can tell that it would look good. It's a comfortable, attractive, quality strap that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, comparatively speaking.

I dunno if you'll be able to find an affordable, quality leather strap that fits; you might just have to add holes to it. There's probably ways to make a clean hole yourself, but bringing it to a leather works place would probably only cost a few bucks. FWIW, the last hole on the Hadley Roma is like if you added one more hole to the canvas strap that the Seiko comes with.

u/MathewC · 2 pointsr/Watches

I got the idea from this thread: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/what-square-2638617-2.html

The ebay seller was long gone, but I contacted the OP and he helped me hunt down one down for me on Amazon, for which I am very grateful.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HZBOWM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one is actually different than the one he has. I had to cut it to fit the 16mm lugs, and the outside diameter of the bracelet is slightly too short. The correct one was like $45 after shipping, and not prime. This one was $28 for Prime. I'm glad I did this one too, because it's barely a $28 bracelet. I like the bracelet itself, but the clasp is absolute shit. I may try and replace that in the future. There's a real composite bracelet made by Casio, but I just didn't like the way it looked.

The stock band for this watch is actually really good. It's soft (softer than the import model) and comfortable.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HZBOWM/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it's polyurethane, super light and strong, you have to trim a lil bit of the plastic with a razor blade. super easy and a great band.

I recently got into watch modding, since my SKX was the perfect place to start. I went through a few different dials and hands but ended up loving this combination. The rectangle hour indices with straight 62mas hands are just what I want…for now. Below are the parts I swapped in:

  1. Upgraded to the NH36 movement (https://www.amazon.com/SEIKO-NH36A-AUTOMATIC-MOVEMENT-WHITE/dp/B07D792MH9)
  2. Engraved “S” crown (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QLJ44V5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
  3. Found the SRP495 Stargate dial on watchpartsplaza.com (https://www.watchpartsplaza.com/us/srp495k1-black-dial-seiko.html)
  4. Swapped in a fixed smooth steel bezel (https://one-second-closer.com/shop/the-absolute-simple-one-pure-cnc-custom-bezel-for-seiko-skx00709-dx-09-cnc/)
  5. Installed a slightly double domed, blue AR coated, sapphire crystal. This complete removed the gap between the crystal and bezel. (https://crystaltimes.net/shop/all/modern-divers/ct099/)
  6. Got the hour and minute hands from an eBay seller (https://www.ebay.com/itm/62-MAS-Style-Hands-for-Seiko-Silver-luminous-Mod-Parts-Custom/303239242503?hash=item469a77a307:g:Rr0AAOSwWUtbYxgb), the second hand is from yobokies 62mas set
  7. Relumed the hour and minute with green Noctilumina (their lume is on par with Superluminova C3and Seiko’s Lumibrite) (http://www.noctilumina.com/)
  8. The strap is a Miltat Super Oyster (https://www.amazon.com/Super-Oyster-watch-SKX007-Curved/dp/B00C58S82W?ref_=w_bl_sl_ap_wa_web_10058180011)
  9. I also fixed the damn chapter ring alignment issue with some Rodico

Here are some lume shots: https://imgur.com/a/m9FXTMe

The camera really picks up the subtle color difference between the Lumibrite, Superluminova C3, and Noctilumina, but this is barely distinguishable to the eye.

Congrats!

I just got mine yesterday. I bought this leather strap with it Hadley-Roma 18-mm Brown Oil-Tan Leather Watch Strap | $17.96 Prime + Free returns | Amazon I love the combination of the two. Hope you enjoy it!

By far the best one that I've had. It's highly adjustable to fit perfectly on any wrist, waterproof (water actually beads up instead of smearing all over the place), and has the look of a steel type link without the painful hair/skin pinching. Very lightweight. You just need to shave off a little bit off the end of the band for it to fit, which is a very fast and easy procedure.

u/Ajourned · 3 pointsr/EDC

heh...morning dump...i'm 12.

That pen is beautiful.....

Speaking of the watch band. Yea those do pull the hair. I found a polyurethane band that worked perfect for me to get away from the metal bands and still include links. Of course it's black, but it's super comfortable. Have to take care to check the occasional link barrel screw, one or two might loosen a little over time. I added a little blue loctite to fix that issue :D

Spurred on by this thread on r/FMF a few days ago, I purchased the Seiko 5 in blue off of Amazon. The blue, green, and cream models were on sale for $50, and using the 20% off newsletter promotion it came out to $40.

Special thanks to /u/JoCoLaRedux for pointing me to this Hadley-Roma brown leather watch strap. It appears he’s wearing it with the cream face, which also looks great.

I know Seiko 5s aren't much to brag about, but I had a fun time learning to use the spring bar tool today and thought I'd share. I think my collection of automatics is off to a good start!

u/Kazyole · 3 pointsr/Watches

BandRBands has a really nice selection of vintage inspired straps in leather and suede that look good on all my vintage watches.

A Hadley Roma mesh bracelet would also look really good. I wear one from time to time and it's a really great old-school look. Here's mine on my vintage speedy

My Pebble has been on my wrist everyday since it arrived last February. I agree with pretty much everything you said, and the only improvements I would want on this device would be smaller size/bezels and perhaps a microphone/speaker to trigger Google Now/Search. Metal chassis would be icing on the cake.

Battery life and daylight visibility are awesome on this thing, and I love that I can use any 22mm watchband with it.

Here's the band I'm using currently: http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Polyurethane-Bracelet-Luminox-Watches/dp/B004HZBOWM

Image of how it looks on my Pebble: http://imgur.com/kYmKsTv

u/gothic_potato · 14 pointsr/Watches

This is supposed to be an excellent leather strap, and you can class it up even more by adding a push button clasp for a couple more bucks. This is a good idea of what the combination would look like on a Seiko 5, although the face is a different color.

All credit to /u/sircarbonmojo for showing me this combination, and for the lovely photos.

u/charitytowin · 6 pointsr/Watches

Thanks! It's a very comfy, and super cheap, strap I got off Amazon from a recommendation on this sub. It looks great on my Khaki King too.

I'm going to order the tan one this week as well.

This Hadley-Roma is tough, beautiful and extremely comfortable. I love mine.

I am recently the proud new owner of a Seiko sarb035. This is my first higher end purchase into the world of watches and I have a few questions on how to go about changing the strap. The band width is listed at 19mm however I have read that a lot of 20mm straps will work on the watch. I would like to purchase this hadley-roma strap for the watch if a 20mm strap will work. Also, this strap doesn't come with any pins. Should I reuse the pins from the original strap or look to purchase an extra set? What size pins would I purchase 19mm or 20mm? Thank you for helping out a watch rookie!

u/mph1204 · 2 pointsr/Watches

here's a wrist shot! i had to remove it honestly. it rattles way too much. But hopefully I'll be able to find a nicer bracelet and add these end links in if I have to. I think that shouldn't be too difficult to do. The leather strap I'm using is just a cheap quick release leather strap. I like it since it looks pretty good and you don't risk scratching the case. The leather really isn't that bad and is comfortable but I can't speak to its durability quite yet.

I have a black Pebble, but I was never a fan of the gloss finish - I felt it made it look cheap. I therefore decided to make it matt which in my opinion makes it look much better. I combined the Gadget Wraps black matt screen protector with a Luminox black silicon strap. The blacks are not a 100% match but the difference is so small that I don't even notice.

Matt Black Wrap: http://www.gadgetwraps.com/devices/pebble-watch/matte-black-pebble-watch-wrap.html

Luminox Strap: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HZBOWM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004HZBOWM&linkCode=as2&tag=withnaiulti0b-20

I really like the end result. It's very understated. In fact most people don't even notice the watch, which I like.

I get most all of my Pebble bands from either GadgetWraps or Clockwork Synergy, save for my favorite that I can't stop talking about:

Sure, it's a MilTAT sold by Strapcode through Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C58S82W

I didn't really pick and choose too carefully, probably just got whatever was highly rated on Amazon. This is my first mechanical watch and first watch period in more than a decade. I knew I wanted the 007 on a bracelet, but Hodinkee (I think) said that the default bracelet it comes with if you get that variant is pretty mediocre, so I got the one with the rubber strap (which is somewhat less expensive) and then ordered the bracelet as an upgrade.

For my birthday in a few months I would like to get myself either a SARB065 for dress wear or a SARG (can't decide which model yet) for work/casual. I'm also lusting after a Hamilton Navy Pioneer but that will have to wait a while.

u/FriscoFlo · 3 pointsr/Watches

So recently I've been wanting to change up the look of my watches and got to browsing Amazon. They have a huge selection of cheaper watch bands so I decided to give them a shot based on good reviews. I was a bit hesitant but both bands cost me less than $20 combined. I'm unsure if either of the bands will last me a long time, but they feel and look great, in my opinion. You can see some imperfections in the stitching from both companies, but it's hardly noticeable on the wrist. I was expecting the one on the Alpinist to be a deep "coffee" brown, but it turned out to be more of a golden brown color. Let me know what you guys think!

Not cheap, but this is the one I use with by LG Urbane and I love it. If you like a hefty, chunky bracelet, this fits the bill.

So here's what it is... The link to purchase is Replacement Black Polyurethane Link Bracelet Band 22mm for Luminox 3000 and 3900 Series Watches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004HZBOWM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LN1myb2Z2PMT2
You will then just need an exacto knife to carve out the tabs to 16mm in order to fit the factory g shock lugs. This, however is not a metal band. It is a PU hard rubber that is very comfortable and light. Great alternative and custom fit compared to the stock strap. Hope this helps!

u/bjornvil · 1 pointr/Watches

Sure it's this one. Mine is the standard brown, which is a bit like suede in that if you run your fingernail over the strap it will show a scratch very easily, but you can rub it out just as easily. I might get the oil light brown later on as that looks more like standard leather.

PROS:

15 bucks

Looks great

Real leather, nice quality

CONS:

A bit stiff initially

You do have to cut out the little slots

Doesn't come with a tool or replacement bars

Crossing my fingers that the back plate doesn't crack as the band loosens up a bit. Installation went well though, took maybe 20-30 minutes total.

u/Alakazam · 1 pointr/Watches

It sounds like your shop is ripping you off. A lot.

A decent watch, even if it's quartz, can easily last 3-5 years without any issues. A decent leather band should be able to last around half a decade to a decade if it's of decent quality.

Even the 15 dollar bands on Amazon are probably of a significantly better quality. Or, spend a bit extra and get something nice from Holbens and it'll probably last you a decade.

u/Preston205 · 1 pointr/Watches

I think this is a good option for a cheap leather strap. I own one and it impressed me for the price. Black or brown would look good.

u/Roneth · 1 pointr/WearOS

Recently got this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071LFMWQ9?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf and it's ok. Most feedback I'm getting is the black looked better. Would love to get the original back... I broke mine.

u/ironchimp · 2 pointsr/hwatch

I like diver watches, hehe. This band is a replacement for the Luminox 3000 series dive watches. It's 22mm in size so it doesn't fit our watches. Have no fear. Since this band is polyurethane, it can be easily modified. I used a x-acto to notch out 2mm on both sides. You can't even tell it's modded. :) You can get it [here] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HZBOWM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage) But it's currently out of stock. There's a 23mm band here. Good luck!

u/saintcosmo · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

I picked up the one with the green face and a leather strap to go with it (not a fan of the canvas). I'm betting the color combo will look pretty sweet.

u/pebble-andrew · 1 pointr/pebble

It's this one. Pretty popular around Pebble HQ, although you do have to do a slight modification for it to fit the Pebble (it's not quite a standard 22mm band).

u/cloud1720 · 1 pointr/Watches

I love mine, it's a weird inexpensive little watch that is great for many different occasions. I threw mine on this strap and think it looks awesome, very classy retro-cyber vibe. I'd post a picture of mine but I'm at work currently.

u/meatwad75892 · 1 pointr/moto360

First and foremost, the official Moto band. I have one and it's most certainly very hefty, and very well built. (Ignoring the weak plastic inserts that may snap apart easily) I love it, and couldn't recommend it enough. Even if those inserts that surround the pins do chip away in the corners, the first link of the official Moto band doesn't seem to put any pressure on the rounded edge of the watch's back, so it should still fare better at not having a crack issue versus the official leather bands & other 3rd party metal bands.

http://www.motorola.com/us/moto-360-bands/Moto-360-Metal-Bands/moto360-bands-metal.html

While I've no experience with this next one, I have seen a few people around here sing praises about it. It also appears to be well-reviewed on Amazon. I can't comment on what kind of force it exerts or doesn't on the rounded edge of the watch's back, but I haven't heard many complaints from those who have used the band.

PS - Are you asking about a Moto 360 that you already own? Or are you about to buy one? Because you can get the metal-band Moto 360 as a whole unit for $299, which basically shaves off $30 of the total cost versus buying a leather band watch & the metal band separately.

~$17. Here's the link to it. The actual strap I received was a bit lighter, but it still looks great.

u/suxer · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

I bought this one, because the original strap is to thin and "flimsy" for my taste; though I messed up because didnt see that I bought the 18mm.

I ended up using the strap on a Timex Easyreader, but not before trying it out on the same bulova watch.

Of course, the size is an issue, but besides that it looks great.

At work right now, but I can upload pictures later.

I ended up buying both a 20mm brown and black leather strap, also Hadley Roma. Will upload pictures during the weekend.

I agree with this suggestion. Swap out the strap with a brown leather one. Perhaps something like this. Make sure to check the band width is correct before buying.

u/Consolol · 2 pointsr/Watches

Hadley-Roma in honey or brown. I have the same strap in black and it's quite nice. I haven't tried any particularly nice straps though, so you can take my suggestion with a grain of salt.

I highly suggest a deployant clasp.

Hello MFAers,

Sure, something like this should work. An 18mm strap that starts out wider after the lugs should preserve the tapering effect rather than just coming out straight from the case. Hadley-Roma should have a similar rubber strap, some Clockwork Synergy straps start at 20mm after the lugs, and a variety of straps come out from the search phrase "timex expedition 18mm strap" at Amazon.

This is the casio a158w, bought it in Canada for about $25 monopoly dollars. I originally bought it because it's the same model my dad had for many years. I decided to take it with me on my first solo trip abroad. It originally came with a metal strap which I replaced with the leather one you see in the picture. Personally I find that the leather strap adds a nice retro feel to the watch. As a travel watch it does everything

  • Cheap so I'm not upset if it's lost or broken

  • Back lit and easy to read

  • 12/24 hr modes are great for looking up travel times

  • I found it easy to pair it with a lot of different outfits

Only complaint would be the illumination light is kinda weak, but it did the job.

I actually bought it from StrappedForTime. It was a little more expensive there, but claims that it is superior because it uses screws instead of pins. Anyway, here is the link on Amazon

EDIT:

Redditor w4k said he bought the amazon version and it didn't fit perfectly. Here is the link to the exact one I bought

I haven't really shopped watches in a while, but last time I ended up getting this Braun to replace my Timex. The look is a bit different though. If you want something closer to the Timex, you might like some models from Seiko or Citizen. Unfortunately everything mentioned is a bit above the Timex price point (~60-110$).

I grabbed a G Watch on cyber Monday but there were only white ones left. Replaced it with a black leather band with white stitching from Amazon.

Oh man, always weird to see my arms. It's a Pebble Time, black. With a 3rd party lightweight sport rubber strap (my favourite): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004HZBOWM/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_V-Abvb0PWWY38

This is a hadley-roma oil tan leather strap. This is the Canadian amazon link for ya! Hadley-Roma Men's MSM881RB-180 18mm Brown Oil-Tan Leather Watch Strap https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B001F0PTNW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_w0XIAb574YZWR

Sorry for being so late with it, but I only just now was able to find it on Amazon. Here you go.

u/Soosed · 2 pointsr/Watches

It's very similar to Braun watches:

There was another company making minimalist quartz watches, something like
"Industry Designs" or something like that, and they didn't look too bad. But they were selling $400 watches with quartz movements, which is kind of ridiculous.

It's the Hadley-Roma Men's MSM906RA-220 22-mm Black Genuine Leather Watch Strap. After wearing it every day for nine months it's starting to split a little along the sides under my wrist near where it goes through the buckle so I may opt for something a little more expensive for my next band. It's not bad for $15.

From Amazon. It's a Hadley-Roma Stainless Steel Heavy Mesh Band (20MM).

I'm trying to keep them all together, the strap is not expensive though. I got it on Amazon, it's held up decently for my use. https://www.amazon.com/EACHE-Genuine-Leather-Replacement-Straps/dp/B073FBYFNR/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1540160968&sr=8-5&keywords=eache+22mm

This is the tool I used to take the straps off

This is the strap I used

I actually had to cut the clasp side of the strap a little bit. The official ones have a small notch cut out of the end. The hole side fit in just fine without having a notch cut, but the clasp end wouldn't go in until I duplicated the notch on the new strap.

Sorry to take so long in getting back to you. I had to go sifting through my purchase history on amazon.

It's the Hadley-Roma 20mm stainless steel heavy mesh.

Here is a link to the Seiko on Amazon. It doesn't come with the leather band but this looks nearly identical for under $20.

u/JoeLuna · 4 pointsr/lggwatchr

I got this band for work, I am a personal trainer and I needed something light and possible water resistant. It is a polyurethane band (has a rubber / hard plastic feel to it) You can find it on Amazon here for about $35

u/K0A0 · 1 pointr/TalesofFatHate

I was looking into a Polyurethane band like this. If anything else I might go for a steel band despite the charging problems Ill have to endure.
