So here is my wishlist for Camera things I sent my husband:

Think Tank Bag

I actually just got this for our anniversary on Halloween and it's freaking amazing. I love Think Tank everything because a) they're so incredibly thoughtful in their design and b) they're made incredibly well. This bag is replacing the current bag I carry JUST lenses and accessories in on the wedding day. On that note their rollerbag is what I use to carry everything and it's also amazing.

Helios Lens

This is basically a trash russian lens that provides really interesting bokeh and intense, awesome sun flare.

Holdfast

I have one of these already, there's a lot of reviews about camera straps, but as a woman it's been the most comfortable strap I've had. I have the American Bison one, it's very soft and incredibly well made. I get compliments on it at weddings all the time, it looks super professional!

Apple Watch

So nice for checking time, texting, and keeping track of timelines on the day of. I love it.

Mouse

If she needs any computer upgrades that would be a great option too. I need a new mouse because mine is a piece of shit, but monitors, monitor calibration, wacom tablet, etc could be nice too.

All the Microfiber cloths, batteries and SD cards

I buy all these things like candy every season. You can really never have enough of any of them.

As far as her home studio, the first thing I would look at is her chair. Art is nice and everything, but loving her chair and workspace makes such a huge difference. It's hard sitting ALL DAY, my back and neck hurt after a full day. I re-did most of my office and bought a bunch of plants and a new desk and it's made my days much better. Next purchase is a chair.

Hope this helps! I'm sure she'll love whatever you get her :).

u/Talulabelle · 5 pointsr/cyberDeck

I love how everyone says 'basic use', and then 'browsing' is the first thing out of their mouths. A browser is incredibly complex. Web pages take a ton of power to render, and require a display that approaches 'standard' resolutions to be useful.

Of all the things I'd use a near-eye display for, browsing is literally the last on the list. It's an application where more screen real-estate is always better, and you'll never get enough.

It sounds to me like you're just looking to buy something, and the bottom line is that regular people just don't want to wear a computer around. Especially when it'll be less capable for browsing than a phone, and that's all that most people want to do.

As for suggestions, there are things on the market at varying costs. Here are some links to things of different styles, maybe one of them will be what you're looking for.

  • Glyph headphones These were a big deal when they were first being introduced a few years ago, but they didn't sell well at all. I think people just considered them 'silly'. I just noticed they're under $200 now, and I've considered picking up a pair to try them out.

  • Blade AR These are more recent, and probably more interesting in general. Reviews for these kinds of things are always middling at best, so I don't know how well they really work. Personally, I wouldn't buy them because I'm not sure if I could hack the display for an external computer, and this looks like it's meant to be more like VR glasses than a near-eye display. But, if you want an out of the box experience, maybe look that direction?

  • VISIONHMD These are your pretty standard display glasses. Recent generations of these have just had their asses kicked by cheap VR. Most VR uses a phone display, which are easy to find and really cheap. That means a device like this, using actual near-eye technology is expensive to produce by comparison, and it can't do VR, the one application people think of when they pick up a headset. That said, the prices are dropping on these and the res is pretty good. I could see buying a pair just to remove the displays, personally, but if you just want a small computer you could probably add a pi to the strap and have something usable here.

  • Vuefine This is definitely something more my speed. This is a single eye, reasonably good resolution, basic HDMI interface display. Stripping these down isn't be that hard, and I can hang them off just about anything.

So, depending on what you want, there are definitely options.

(It's a little outdated, but still useful)

I currently have a Pebble 2SE, the Pebble 2 Heart Rate* could be a good option, but if you want the latest features it depends what phone you have/what you want. If you have an iPhone, just get an apple watch. If you on Android, good luck! 😅 Jokes aside (I have a Pixel, love Android) there are just so many Android Wear watches and none of them are as good as they could be. Wear OS needs some work...

If you just need fitness features maybe look into the latest from FitBit like the Versa.

Respect for wanting to help people out! :) And for valuing your own time too, doing all those steps takes up time. Quick heads up though: the P2 charcoal/red can be had for ~$77 on Amazon with prime shipping and easy replacements, and similar for the black Round at ~$85. So your target demographic might be smaller than expected. If you're already factoring that in, great! And I hope you didn't mind be saying.

Let's make this one happen!

I can invest some time and capital and would recommend redesigning software and UI of existing portable devices that feature GSM connectivity and a camera, for possible QR code integration and optional hot wallet features. MP3 idea of yours is included but what I am thinking off has much more into it.

Sure, as a cold-storage hardware wallet your proposal works well but it wouldn't help spreading bitcoin use. Ain't nobody gonna carry around an MP3 and USB cable and a portable QR code reader, if a phone can do that too.

But how about a basic GSM phone in a watch, capable of handling SMS, voice, and some basic data to push transactions to BlockChain (at least 2G)? The potential for the developing world in particular would be immense. There are existing solutions fashionable and colorful enough that we could launch big and strong.

For under $45 retail (much less when wholesale, I bet), we could start off with good looking, loss-proof, drop-proof devices on the lines of:

But a citizen looks like a decent watch. An apple watch looks like a kid's toy.

this thing looks really nice to the point that people compliment me on it before realizing it is a smart watch. I paid $250 for it when it was brand new.

I forgot to mention the looks aspect. The apple watch also looks like shit unless you overpay even more. The garmins and fitbits and look good in a sporty and utilitarian way; exactly what their market is looking for.

Interestingly - this was just published: Fitbit, Garmin and other activity band makers improved their shipments by the double digits, while the smartwatch world actually shrank

u/jsamhead · 1 pointr/EDC

Jeans and shorts with jeans-style pockets. I carry a lot but I've very carefully selected and configured everything to fit in the main 4 jeans pockets really well.

Left front pocket: Olight M2R Warrior (clipped), Wallet, Leatherman Squirt PS4, Zippo, Gik-tek Ruk V1

Right front pocket: Spyderco Shaman (clipped), Google Pixel XL

Right back pocket: Tactile Turn Glider (clipped)

Left back pocket: Leatherman Wave (clipped)

Other: Fossil Q Explorist HR, Wedding Band, Cheap Aviators, Keys on Nite-Ize locking S-Biners

I carry multiple "knives" (Shaman, Ruk, Wave, and Squirt) but they all have a different purpose. The shaman is for big stuff or slicing apples, the Ruk is for small precision tasks like opening boxes, the Squirt is mostly for the excellent scissors but I use the pliers and screwdrivers from time to time too, and the Wave is for the big pliers, big screwdrivers, and serrated blade.

Check out the LG Urbane Watch. It does everything you listed, except typing text messages, only voice type.

I know I have seen apps on the store that have a keyboard for typing, but I am not sure of it will be what you are looking for.

Overall I have the Watch Urbane and I love it. I highly recommend it. :)

I'm thinking about buying a fitness tracker watch, but I'm also worried that I won't use it enough to justify the cost. People who have bought fitness trackers- Do you feel like you've gotten a significant benefit from them?

EDIT: Thanks for all of the replies! Also, specific recommendations for a smart watch that will track swimming lap times?

u/darthgato · 2 pointsr/smartwatch

I used to have the Microsoft Band 2 (terrible choice, don't ever buy it) and had to wear it with the face under my wrist. I got used to it and started to like it when the wristband split in half after 3 months.

I've since bought the stainless steel Huawei watch and it's amazing. It looks like a nice watch, is very sturdy and has the latest version of Android Wear. It's expensive but I highly recommend it.

The face can be changed at any time (it's an LED screen) so you can go with a standard watchface, digital or even really out there designs like changing a background on a phone.

https://www.amazon.com/Huawei-Watch-Stainless-Steel-Warranty/dp/B013LKLIC4

Edit : And to answer your question. Yes, I wear it daily.

u/marinersalbatross · 1 pointr/tech

Well they have the watch phones which have a pretty good battery life according to this random example from amazon. Granted that one is rather cheap, which is why I'm pretty excited by the LG that you were talking about.

u/TyGamer125 · 1 pointr/Android

Do you type in landscape on the phone screen? If not than maybe the link I posted would be better than nothing.

Also you could carry around this in your pocket: foldable Bluetooth keyboard

There was also a Kickstarter I believe for a slider keyboard that was attached with 3m tape to the back but I couldn't find it nor do I know if it was successful.

For me I can type just as quick as someone proficient at using a virtual keyboard with two thumbs while I swipe. I use Google keyboard which works really well for me with the auto correct turned on. If you want to try swiping start with typing all your small words and leaving larger words to pecking then eventually you'll slowly start typing every single word in it. Google's keyboard also will learn new words if you type them a couple times. It takes about a week to get the hang of it and see it's value and a few months to build muscle memory for the common words you type.

u/PrettyBelowAverage · 2 pointsr/loseit

I would go with the Charge HR or Apple Watch over the Surge unless a couple of things are in your mind:

  1. You want Notifications, Music Control, and GPS Tracking

  2. You don't mind the way it looks on wrist.

The Surge is much bulkier - and in my opinion uglier - than the Apple Watch or the Charge HR. (Maybe not bulkier than Apple Watch, but less appealing design)

Unless you are a near daily outside runner, you don't need the GPS tracking.

Between the Surge and the Apple Watch I would go Apple Watch because the Apple Watch does what the Surge does better while having a better design and prettier display.

Between any of the watches I would do the Charge HR because of all of my previously mentioned reasons.

Click Here and scroll down and read about the product, focus on the chart that compares all of the watches and decide if those 2-3 additions are worth it, and then read a few customer reviews.

Interesting note: I don't have small wrists, but I had to remove all extra links and move the clasp "adjustment" to the smaller setting to get it to fit on my wrist.... This band is meant for people with pretty big wrists I guess...

Band is nice though... so far. Only had it on there for a couple of days, so the jury is still out.

Any questions on the band or whatever, let me know.

u/honestbleeps · 3 pointsr/hockey

thanks so much for pointing out that sports dryer is on sale - I was looking at it recently!

HOWEVER: being the cheapskate I am, I found 2 potentially better options depending on tax, etc:

  1. I just noticed shipping was like $15... kinda sucky... so on a whim I checked Amazon and it's the same price, but with free shipping!

(no, there's no referral code in that amazon link, you can check it for yourself)

  2. Alternatively, you can enter promo code SERP5 on hockeymonkey (your original link) for 5% off.

Just posting to try and help.. I may order one of these now!

I got the black and grey one for my brother off Amazon. If you order the band, the case is free. Pretty good deal.

So, I wanted to get a smartwatch (Specifically, this one is what I was looking at.)

A friend of mine had told me that there was a very good chance I'd buy it, then find myself leaving it at home most days. He suggested that I buy a cheap $30 watch, then if I find that I like it, I should get a smartwatch.

So my question is: Any recommendations for a ~$30 watch? I know literally nothing about watches other than what I've already stated.

u/dork_a_holic · 1 pointr/AndroidWear

Yes. Barely. I ended up buying two of these watch bands to make one that would fit me comfortably. I only needed two links from the second band.

u/Xaositek · 3 pointsr/AppleWatch

Not OP but https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XYMNKHS - I have the gray version and it works great!

u/nothinbuttherain · 1 pointr/GalaxyWatch

No and I wish I'd seen those.

I ordered mine here.

At the time it was 290, looks like they have raised the price since then.

The problem is it doesn't come set with the US country code even though it says "US Edition." So Samsung Pay is NOT on the watch and cannot be installed without setting the country code correctly, which is a little bit involved, not just a setting in the menu.

Some have said that it's actually the international edition of the watch and that it won't have warranty coverage. I don't know if that's true, but there's something at least slightly shady there. I kept mine after changing the country code, but I can't recommend that seller to anyone else.

If you search "Samsung Pay" here, you'll see many others in the same situation, also in the reviews on that page. So as long as your refurbs aren't coming from the same seller, hopefully you are OK.

u/skipv5 · 1 pointr/AndroidWear

Then do it. I paid $350 for mine. $270 is a great deal for a new one with the steel band. You can pay $13 bucks less for a Amazon warehouse deal too which most people have said when they received it, was in like new condition https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B013LKLIC4/ref=sr_1_4_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1467649462&sr=8-4&keywords=huawei+watch&condition=used

Apartment living here. When I was in college my apartment had its own bathroom connected to each room. My stuff was stored in the bathroom. Currently have a 2 bedroom and I use the spare room to put the legs on the ground, hang the chest and pants, put a fan near the glove, blocker, skates, mask, and bag on the ground opened. I'm looking into this dryer. Anyone else use this? If so can you fit everything and is it worth it?

u/wolli_d · 1 pointr/smartwatch

I really LOVE your spreadsheet. Just one question, for Huawei Watch 2 Classic the watch band in your sheet is 22mm, http://consumer.huawei.com/de/wearables/watch2/specs/ mentions 20mm, Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XDP223X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_HeFvzbX5C9W0A again is 22mm. Which is true? I only buy smartwatches with user replacable 22mm watch bands, because I have a large collection of those. Thank you!

u/donkeymc · 1 pointr/pebble

i have this one - also in silver.
I find it more comfortable than the official pebble steel band because it is more flexible and not so rigid.

u/Tilde88 · 1 pointr/pokemongodev

Idk what that would be like.

The charge is this small USB cable that has like this shell and 2 metal points on the bottom.

I did buy this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ABST70E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for $5. It fits so damn perfect, and looks better than the original

Edit: I jsut checked amazon for that mi band charger, it looks identical!

Update: The mi band 2 charger also looks the same, but they say they are not compatible with the other.

u/Alanrey00 · 1 pointr/smartwatch

u/TimothyDahBomb · 3 pointsr/pebble

There was a listing for both the Gold and Silver polished rounds on Amazon US. I believe the Silvers are all gone but there still seems to be some Gold ones left. I payed US$129.99, however they are going for a bit more right now. (Still less than the US$200 Kickstarter price)
As far as I know, these Pebbles were manufactured for the Kickstarter rewards but were auctioned off to this Amazon seller when Fitbit bought most of the company.

Get a little fold out bluetooth keyboard. They're pretty cheap, small when folded up, and if you are the kind of person who wants to do a lot of typing when on your phone/tablet they're quite handy. I have one that folds up to be the same size as my phone, and unfolds to be almost the size of a standard keyboard (If I line it up with the enter key it almost touches capslock and the width is almost identical to the distance from space bar to 7).

u/JkStudios · 2 pointsr/raspberryDIY

Again, do you want a HUD like Google Glass, or you just want to have something similar to a VR headset?

The glasses you linked are very similar to a VR headset. Once you put them on, you won't be able to see the outside world. With that in mind, here are two suggestions.

I've had this little rechargeable keyboard for several months with no issue: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VRCKK1Y/ But it's main draw for me is that it's portable and folds up. Folding is probably a drawback if you don't actually want that feature.

Then I have this thing which does take AAA batteries, but it's not mini: tps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MUTWLW4/
I really like it, though. Can simultaneously pair with my phone, MiBox, and tablet just by rotating the little switch. But not really remote-sized if that's what you're going for.

If you want it to only spin or only catch, you have to change the settings in the in-game menu. The settings on the gotcha itself only toggle the auto function. So if you "turn off" catching on the gotcha, that's only turning off the autocatch and now you'll have to click on it manually every time, does that make sense? Other than that, no. Also, people (including me) have serious issues with it right now probably due to the update (seems to be android problem), but that will hopefully be fixed soon... You can also buy a different band if you don't like the fruity one it came with.

This is the silver 46mm, but the results are the same. I bet next week it'll be back down where you want it, during a "big easter sale" or some other event.

It depends what color you want. The gold ones can be had for much less. Amazon currently has it for $80

I tried doing this for 30 minutes with /u/jonnyburger's technique below, using my portable bluetooth keyboard and a Pixel XL, and it's not that bad of an experience in landscape mode.

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like.

Polished Silver is sold out at the moment.

Amazon. was on sale last week. They also had the surge. Not worth to me $100 more for GPS and music control.

EDIT (for links in case you're interested)

Surge

Charge HR

Both aren't availible now, but I think they were still some small Charge HR.

I've used this for a number of years. Throw all the gear on here, take the insoles out, I leave the soakers on. 3 hours and done-dry.

I don't think it looks so bad in person. The only major aesthetic issue it has out of the box is the frankly quite low quality rubber strap, which is just a fat, completely plain strip of rubber. I replaced that with a metal bracelet and it looks at decent. Not extremely elegant but sporty. For $50 I think it's not a bad way to get an Android Wear device.

Do you have a recommendation on style if you were going to add to my collection? I currently have the Timex Weekender, old school casio, and the Huawei Watch.

It's the NOTTI light that will change colors or flash when you get a notification.

u/Jkruger88 · 2 pointsr/hwatch

The stainless steel variant is $206 for anyone looking to buy that - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B013LKLIC4/

u/redthunda69 · 3 pointsr/hwatch

I'd say no.

Amazon has a brand new leather band model discounted to $270 today, or the stainless steel model for $280.

I have one of these and I love it. It's the best thing possible for proactively keeping them clean and smelling nice.

Now, when I first got it what I did was soak/bathe my gear for a couple hours in my shower (stinking it in the process). As /u/rametta4 said, you can take out the velcro inserts of shinpads and wash them, but the rest of my stuff (minus skates, helmet, and gloves) I soaked/washed in the tub.

Glove can be rinsed out with hot water thoroughly, but do not apply soap as it could dry out the leather even more. Helmet avoid using soap as well as you would not chemicals dripping down into your eyes mid-game. Skates I just sprayed the hell out of with Lysol.

No flat tire. The battery gets two full days for a lot of people.

I have this one and another one that is very similar to this one. The first one I found to be...janky. The release was loose and would make a weird rattling sound, and the link bars (to remove links) are very cheap. The other one I have is not the same as the one linked, but similar in style, I am currently using the second one, the first just felt loose and cheap.
