So I'd say if you have a knife, a good flashlight would be next, then a backup knife and light (one is none, two is one). I like a multi-tool or SAK for my backup knife, and a keychain light for my backup torch.

Something to write on is nice. I'm a real child of the digital age, but I still like having an analog recording medium on me. I prefer Pentalic's pocket size books to Moleskine's. So first off, building your own coils is ABSOLUTELY the way to go, it is much cheaper, more customizable, a better vape, and just plain fun. You are going to need a few things though.

• Wire. Start with a mix of different gauge Kanthal.
  
  
• Wire cutters.
  
  
• Ceramic tweezers. These are for adjusting your coils once they are installed.
  
  
• A coiling jig. You can use anything from a nail to a precision screwdriver to a syringe, however I very strongly recommend this set.
  
  
• Cotton. I've tried every brand of cotton out there, they are all the same. Just go to your local CVS/Walgreens/Whole Foods/Walmart/etc and pick up a big bag of cotton balls, they will last you a life time for about $5. Seriously, a life time.
  
  
• [Optional] Ohm meter. This is only optional because you are using a regulated device, it is required for mech mods. The Kanger will not fire if your coil is bad or too low of a resistance (about 0.4 ohms in my experience).
  
  Now that you have everything you can go to town! Remember, all of this is just my personal opinion and experience, do what works for you.

  Planning: The Kanger works best at around 1.19 ohms at 50 watts but can go as low 0.4 ohms. To get an idea of how factors like different wire gauges or multiple coils will affect your resistance try simulating it on this page.

  Wire Work: There are plenty of videos and tutorials out there for different coils but my advice would be to start simple. Once you can build a coil that has good tight wraps and learn how to remove the hot spots from it and are generally just comfortable coiling then move on to more fancy builds. The advantage of (almost all) advanced coils is more surface area for better wicking and juice retention, there are also the offbeat ones like staged (dual) heating. I am a big fan of simple twisted wire coils, they are incredibly easy and work much better than simple single wire coils.

  Prepping The Wire: When you pull the wire off the spool be careful, if you don't hold tension the whole thing is prone to come unwrapped rather quickly. Work in longer lengths than you will actually need, screw ups are frequent and wire is cheap. Cut off a length of wire and you'll notice that it isn't exactly straight, or really at all, but this has an easy fix.
  
  
  To straighten your wire: At one of the wire make a small 90 degree bend, insert this end into your drill with the wire centered and the bend sticking out the side, the bend allows the pincers to grab onto the wire. Grab the other end with a pair of pliers and apply light pressure (too much will cause the wire to snap). Start up your drill noting the direction it is spinning. It doesn't take more than a second or two, if the wire snaps it has spun more than enough (it tends to snap at either end but can be in the middle in which case you have to start over).
  
  
  Annealing the wire: Thin wire like we use tends to be 'springy' making your coils unwind when you release tension, the thinner the wire the worse it gets. But again I have an easy fix. Holding the wire straight with tension, either with a vice grip or the drill or pliers or whatever you have, use a BIC lighter or a small flame to apply heat along the length of the wire. You want it to just start to heat up, not glow orange, if you see smoke coming off the wire move to another area because that one is done. Some people recommend dunking the wire in water when done but I just let it air cool.
  
  [Optional] Making twisted wire: Take however many strands you wish to twist up and line up all of the ends with the 90 degree bend, cut the other end so that they are all equal lengths. Before inserting into your drill I find it helps to make a few 'starter twists' to keep the wires even and from coming undone. Remember how I said to make note of the direction your drill is spinning? Well it is time to spin in the opposite direction. Clamp your wire down in your pliers (not the drill) with the bent end sticking out a few millimeters. Grabbing the wires by the bends twist them by hand a couple times in the same direction as your drill is now spinning (opposite of the direction you used to straighten the wire). Now you can insert them into your drill. Start the drill slowly and don't go past a medium-high speed overall or the wire is more likely to snap, if it does it will 'unstraighten' on the end near the drill and become a mess to work with. If you are using a long length of wire (I would say over 8" but YMMV) it is best to release the wire halfway through and insert the opposite end into the drill (you do not need to reverse the direction of spin on the drill, it will work as is) because the end nearest the drill will twist the fastest this will provide a more even twist across the entire wire. It is totally up to you how much you want to twist the wire, if it snaps though it means you either went too fast on the drill or it has reached its limit of twisting (you can usually reinsert it and get a few more seconds of twisting out of it though).

  Building a coil with the linked jig: I'm only going to cover using the jig I recommended up above because if I didn't I would be here for all eternity, ask 10 people how to make a coil and you will get 12 answers. That jig is super easy to use, cheap, and makes coils better than you ever will be able to by hand.
  
  Start by selecting the inner diameter of your coil, the jig provides nails ranging from 1mm to 3mm. Unscrew the cap from the base unit, insert your chosen nail, and screw the cap back on over it. Insert your wire from the top through the small hole on the base and grip down on the end of the wire with your thumb, you only need to pull the wire down to where the cap screws on to get plenty long leads. Taking the other end of the wire (the long portion sticking out the top) give it a small start around the nail, a quarter or half turn is all it needs. Put the piece with the corresponding size hole (the piece you the nail is originally stored in / marked with the sizes) over the top of the nail, push it down making sure the wire is between the screw and the nail. Twist the corresponding piece to wrap the wire around the nail, this requires almost no pressure if you do apply pressure you will end up with a pancake and not a coil.
  
  Once you have however many wraps you want push down on the base piece and the corresponding piece to put pressure/sandwich the coil. Hold this for at least 30 seconds to a minute, it will help tighten the coils and keep them from unwinding. Some people pull on the wire leads with pliers to tighten them up but I do not like doing this personally because it changes the number of wraps as well as causes the leads to be made from part of the coil (as in not straight leads).

  Mounting your coil: Insert your coil leads onto your post and tighten them down. Be careful about over tightening or having your leads at strange angles as this can cause the coil to bend such that on one side the wraps do not touch and on the other overlap, it can also cause other weird deformities that ruin all the work up to this point. Roughly position your coils, using the nail from the coiling rig will help to keep the coil from getting bent. Make sure the coils are not touching anything as this will cause them to short. Clip your leads.
  
  With your mod on a low to medium power setting begin to slowly pulse the device until the coils begin to glow. You want them to glow from the inside out, evenly, and at the same time. This will pretty much never happen right away. You are looking for spots that heat up unevenly. Using your ceramic tweezers squeeze and manipulate the coils, this is hard to describe but you'll understand it right away I'm sure. You can also use the coil jig nail to turn the coil and tighten the wraps (i.e. if the coil was originally inserted parallel to the deck insert the nail and twist it upwards to a 45 degree angle or even vertical, the amount varies from coil to coil but you can tell very easily by looking at it as you twist).

  edit: Oh, and for those curious, I am currently running 3mm quad coils made from 2 strands of 32awg kanthal at 14 wraps each on the Sub Ohm Innovations RDA and the Kanger KBOX. They read in at 1.4 ohms and I fire them at 35-40 watts.

I LOVE this. You're gorgeous so you're going to look fantastic no matter what, but I've got some suggestions for small improvements:

• Blush. You've said you don't like the way it looks, but I think you need something. In photos the absence of blush looks jarring and was the first thing I noticed. Maybe try an extremely subtle color like Tarte's Exposed (neutral) or Benefit Dandelion (very light pink)? Also, maybe try visiting some makeup counters for advice on the application on your face. It's possible you haven't liked blush because you haven't learned the best location for your particular face shape? Here, you're going for a sophisticated look, so I think it would look great applied on the sides on your cheekbones. Then sweep only what's left on the brush onto the apples as a last step. You only want a tiny touch of color there.
  
  
• Eyebrows. Yours are lovely in today's style, but you want something timeless so that your grandchildren can post their pretty grandma on r/oldschoolcool one day and no one will say "what's up with her eyebrows?" (Trust us: those of us who lived through the 90s thought our skinny brows looked fantastic. Looking back - not so much. Classic is best!) Go for more of a rounded shape on the inside corners, don't come in so far on the inner corners, and, overall, use a lighter touch guided by the shape of your actual brows. Your natural brow shape looks very pretty, so your effort should be on lightly shading those and not so much extending and amplifying.
  
  
• I love the bold lipstick, but I agree with another commenter that it's a little too purple and is washing you out a bit. I appreciate that it matches the roses, though :)
  
  
• Minor things for eyes. I love the upper liner and lashes. You nailed retro but timeless! The frosty light color on in your inner corners extends a little too far out. Use a smaller brush to keep it closer to the corners. It looks like you've lined your lower lid, and I think it's making your eyes look smaller. I don't like the lower liner on your inner corner, either. I'd ditch the lower liner in deference to what you already have: pulling some of the warm brown eyeshadow down on your lower lashline and subtle mascara on the lower lashes.
  
  
• The foundation does look a little cakey, particularly around your jawline. You've gotten some application tips, but I see what looks like dry patches of skin on your chin and jaw. Have you tried any chemical exfoliants to smooth your skin? Another thing that may help is dermaplaning. I got these and it gets all the peach fuzz off, exfoliates, and helps makeup look seamless with skin. It seems intimidating but it's pretty easy!

At the moment I'm running:

TEC Centipede - Titanium ruler that's about 8.5cm in length. I measure things irregularly, but not enough to warrant a full tape measure which will take up more pocket space. Feels super well made.

Leatherman Micra - Just got it, and I'm torn on how much I like it. Whilst beefy, the scissors sometimes flex whilst cutting thicker items (so it goes between the blades laterally). I've never had this problem with my Classic SD, and may end up moving up to a 74mm Victorinox like the Executive for the sake of the bigger scissors.

Boker Vox Access Tool - Titanium prybar with a carbide glass breaker on the end. I've come from the SD Titanium Prybar which was bloody useless for nail pulling due to the groove literally being a 'V' without any guiding for nails, and the edge of the bottle opener kept digging into my hand when I used it. Although for it's follies, the tip lip is very thin (yet sturdy) and can get between thinner crevices than the VAT; I also drove in a couple of nails with the SD, and in seeing if I could unscrew a half in one with the VAT, I chipped the guiding groove for the nail puller (not severely, but it was kind of disheartening as I literally just bought it and didn't think it was much of a stress test).

Kershaw Pub - Technically this isn't on my keys, as I put it in the 'snuff pocket' in my jeans, it's beefier than the VAT for box opening, and the blade is about the same size as a Stanley blade. It's a bit of a different design and great for fidgeting. Not so great for fidgeting when people see you, but fun all the same.

I've currently retired:

The SD Ti Prybar - See above, a great little prybar, hampered by a frankly stupid decision to put a bottle opener on it. NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS A BOTTLE OPENER.

Victorinox Classic SD - A present which I absolutely love, however I'm in the pursuit for something 'beefier', although the scissors on this are second to none for all the little odd jobs I've had over the years.

Uncle Bills Sliver Grippers - Brilliant tweezers for splinters, however the first day I put them on my keys, and then sat on my keys, I hadn't put them in the holder right and they stabbed me in the arse. These tweezers have never been on my keys since.

Resqme Car Escape tool - Had it on the keychain, realised I'd only ever use it in the car, and now I keep it in the glovebox as I have the glass breaker on the VAT.

Leatherman Squirt PS4 - An absolutely fantastic multitool let down by a shit pair of scissors which have a lot of play between the blades. It results in a lot of rough cuts and ultimately spoils a perfect out of the box multi-tool. In the pursuit of better scissors and a lighter set of keys, I've currently retired this fantastic piece of kit.

Leatherman Brewzer - I absolutely loved this little prybar, but it broke in half when I tried to get a little shelf stud out of a bookcase, and it just shattered my confidence in the product to the point that I can't be bothered sending it in under warranty, as I know I'd never use it again.

Gerber Dime - I bought this at the same time as the Squirt PS4 because I couldn't decide between them. After taking them both out of the packing and comparing them side by side one after the other, it was instantly obvious that the Leatherman was just the better fit, so this was retired pretty much instantly and was gifted within an hour.

True Utility Keytool - First keytool I ever had and it was great for years! Practically invisible and as I only used it for the file, the mini screwdriver, and the thread cutter, it was fantastic. Never had an issue with the quality, and never had the need to take it off the key it was on, I only stopped carrying it because I don't use the type of key it works with anymore, and don't want to carry it round for the sake of it when I have so many other options. Great little buy though.

I'm probably going to buy:

Victorinox Manager - This is pretty much the best multitool for what I really need, and it has a pen. It's just 58mm and I really want a larger pair of scissors, however it has all the tools I've used recently, and it has a pen!

Another Prybar. As soon as I find a beefy titanium 80mm~ straight prybar which doesn't have a bottle opener on it, and instead has another useful purpose I'm going to get it. Hell, even if it doesn't have a secondary purpose I'll probably get it as well.

I randomly came across that photo yesterday (god knows why I took it in the first place, I was in a taxi in Beijing) but I had no idea my hyperpigmentation had faded so much since that photo was taken in April 2018. I don't do anything too special, the usual sort of stuff, but I have to say Skinceuticals CE Ferulic has definitely made the most difference. I got it to see if it lived up to the hype, and damn it, it did lol. Although I am "lucky" (good job, no kids, aka I am very fortunate to have some money to spend) that it doesn't totally break the bank, but dang is it expensive, just based on principle! I guess I'm sticking with it, though!

I used to just wash my face at night and in the morning in the shower, and then a friend of mine was talking to me about her "routine" one day (she's older than I and has FLAWLESS skin) which got me Googling. Which brought me to this and other skincare subs. There ensued borderline obsession. I have a ways to go, but I honestly didn't realize how far I've come! After a lifetime of doing the bare minimum, getting into a routine was kind of a drag, but once I started to see that I needed less makeup to make my skin look even, I was totally on board and now I really look forward to it every morning and night, thanks in no small part to this sub!ETA: Wow, you girls/guys are SO nice and making me feel so special! I honestly feel like I don't know what I'm doing and I swear every day I'm googling "Does X conflict with Y"? Haha. But here is what I have been doing:

Now for my flashlight philosophy. Phone lights are just kind of fine but they really stink as flashlights because they aren't very bright and can't throw more than about 15 feet. My $10 Olight i3E keychain light can throw like 100 feet, which is not all that far. My sidewalk from the road to my house is longer than 15 feet and I like to be able to see a good ways in front of me when walking at night. My main flashlight (Emisar D4) has adjustable brightness so I can put it really low in a movie theater or something when I need see to go pee but not disturb anyone, and I can also put it on full brightness to turn on the sun in any given direction if I need to see far or see a lot of stuff. Mostly it's just plain easier to grab a flashlight clipped to your picket and press a button than it is to pull out your phone, unlock it, swipe the quick settings onto screen, and then click the flashlight button.

Knife philosophy: I carry a dedicated knife because it's easier, faster, and more comfortable to use than any multitool. It always stays clipped in the right hand, tip up position so I just pull it out, deploy the blade, and start using it (and that all takes like half a second or less). If I tried doing the same with my Leatherman Squirt I'd have to pull out my keychain, find the Squirt, open the blade with the nail nic and then reposition my hand to start using it. That requires about 3 seconds (6x as long) and BOTH HANDS. Often when I need to cut something I'm supporting the thing with one hand already so I only have one hand free to get my knife.

I'm a little late to the party, but I know how you feel. I grew up around all boys and had the reputation of being the dirtiest out of everyone. I don't feel like I "girl" very well either, but I've figured out a few steps that help.


It's hard to say just how much time I spend on this stuff daily, it varies a lot but I've tried to incorporate it in to my regular free time activities as much as possible. I always multi-task with fun activities. I listen to music or podcasts while doing my makeup or cleaning the house. I watch netflix while doing my hair or nails. This is my reward system and helps motivate me.


Makeup is cool, but smelling good makes my feel like I'm winning the girl game. After showering, I lotion up and add perfume oil behind my ears, my wrists and a little throughout my hair. My favorite perfume is Dorian


When it comes to hair, there's no real short cuts here, just trial and error. I use a shower cap and avoid getting my hair wet or washing it unless I have time to style afterwards. Wash Monday's and Thursday's with Dry Shampoo on off days when needed.


When it comes to makeup, I like to look for inspiration in women who have coloring similar to myself.


I feel most confident when my hair is freshly dyed black and my skin is smoothed out with BB Cream: Missha #13, my brows are filled in with brow powder: Anastasia, my lashes are curled, and my lips are tinted with a red stain: Benetint

I'm also really fond of epilating in place of shaving or waxing.

Still feel like a hot mess when it comes to dressing well, but I'm working on that.

My friend epilates and convinced me to try it. I bought a cheap one on Amazon, tried it, hated it, sent it back, and bought the mack daddy Braun Silk Epil 9, and I have to tell you it was rough going at first but now I love it.

It really did hurt like everloving FUCK the first time. I have a lot of hair. A lot. Friend said it would hurt less as I go on, on which I called bullshit. It was so so so bad that I couldn't even do a full leg in one go. And forget above the knees, Jesus tap dancing Christ Almighty.

Why I love it now: friend was right, damn her. It really truly gets better the more you do it, and I mean almost immediately. The second time is like night and day compared to the first. The reason for this is that hair grows in cycles. All the hair on your legs didn't all start growing at the same time, so when you rip all that hair out, every hair isn't growing back at the same rate. I would say it's about 1/2 to 1/3 of the amount of hair that grows back long enough to epilate in about a week's time. The lower density of hair makes for a MUCH less painful experience, and for me to say that, well, you saw how much of a little bitch I was in the previous paragraph. It seriously doesn't even phase me now.

Also why I love it: when you shave hair you leave a blunt edge which can feel like the hair is thicker and makes stubble feel stubblier. When the hair is plucked, it grows back nice and tapered and is softer to the touch. Because the hairs are growing back in less density, it's less noticeable. I can go for a week without giving a fuck about the hair on my legs.

Also, shaving just fucking sucks for me. It tears up my skin, I get itchy, and then it grows back in like a day. Epilating 4 lyfe, man.

But it took some trial and error to get there, which wisdom I will now bestow upon you. Here is my routine:

1. Exfoliate. For the love of God, before and after. Exfoliating means less dead skin means less chance for ingrown hairs. My preferred way to so this is with a hammam glove like this one. Look up the Baiden Mitten, then buy a hammam mitt on amazon because they're way cheaper. But it basically sloughs off the dead skin in rolls and is super gross and super satisfying. I did this right before the last time I epilated and my legs are soooooo smoooooth I can't even.
   
   
2. Nothing on your skin, no lotion or whatever. The epilator tweezers might slip on the hair and break it. This leads to subparly smooth legs and ingrown hairs. So I wash in the shower with a soap that won't leave any residue, hammam it up, and then dry off and epilate.
   
   
3. Epilate! If you have a wet/dry epilator you can do it in the shower with really hot water. This truly does alleviate the pain, and this was how I did it every time when I first started. I have found though that when I do this, the time it takes me to do my lower legs means that the water has made the hair on my upper legs much softer and prone to breakage, so the epilating isn't as effective. I usually suck it up and do it dry now.
   
   
4. Exfoliate again! This time I do chemical exfoliation. I use Stridex pads, the kind that come in the red box. Red box is important because it's at the right pH to actually exfoliate.
   
   
5. Soothe and/or moisturize. I slap on some aloe gel for this. Then I take care to moisturize daily afterwards.
   
   Rinse and repeat! I find that going more than a week in between hair ripping sessions means the growth is just enough to start to be painful again. I do this about every 5 days because my hair grows fast, but I'm hoping to extend it to a week eventually (which coincidentally is the recommended time to go in between exfoliating seshes).
   
   With this routine, which takes less and less time every time I do it, I don't get any bumps and only the occasional ingrown hair, usually on my upper thighs. Your legs will be kind of red and splotches after, and there may even be angry red dots where the hair was ripped out, but this goes away very quickly, and by the next day they look completely normal. It's never going to be completely smooth like with shaving, but honestly the tradeoff to me is worth it because when I shave, my legs are never perfectly smooth anyway because of the damage the razor does to my skin. Epilating is way gentler on my skin and I love the results I get.
   
   My final piece of advice: if you can stand it, wax everything first. Then the first growth cycle you epilate will be much less painful than if you'd started with the epilator. I used these Veet wax strips and yes it hurt like a bitch but ripping a giant bandaid off your legs is way better than slowly moving an epilator up your legs knowing that the pain just isn't going to stop. I have also done this again when I waited too long in between epilating and I just couldn't face the pain again.
   
   If you don't want to wax, what I've also done (I told you this was an arduous journey) is shave first with the shaver attachment on my epilator, then epilate. There are very few hairs left behind that are long enough for it to grab, so you can get used to the sensation.
   
   I haven't been brave enough to do my underarms yet, because the couple times I tried I was actually yelping from the pain. I may try waxing those first which I'm sure will also be an experience....

   PS I should mention that I have sensitive skin in general and I'm prone to things like eczema, ingrown hairs and body acne, but epilating with this routine does not exacerbate this at all.

I love this look!! I definitely think men shouldn't be afraid to experiment in makeup, even if it's just natural makeup as opposed to "full glam". Other people have already said this but I recommend brushing through your brows with a spoolie and maybe a clear brow gel (my favorite is the brow/mascara duo from elf, it's like $2 and the clear mascara is actually really nice as well). You can also try cleaning up some of the lighter, angled hairs (hopefully you know what I'm talking about) on the tops of your brows with a small eyebrow razor. They're more forgiving than tweezers (hair grows back faster) and way less painful. I use these ones and they're awesome. Your arches already really nice so I don't think you need to clean up under them. :) hope this helps!

I am sorry you experienced that, sometimes people are just cruel. Hopefully they'll grow up a bit and realize having hair on your upper lip pretty much means nothing other than you're a mammal. I have a mustache too, and with my dark hair and light skin it can be pretty visible.

I have tried to wax it a few times but broke out horribly each time. My skin is pretty sensitive. At this point I think I am going to get a facial trimmer...I have been looking at this one as it has pretty good reviews and is on sale for $9.99. I wish I had a better answer, but you're definitely not alone...don't be down on yourself about having perfectly normal hair, but I hope you find a solution that helps you feel better.

If you do run into them again I would do your best to not look phased even if you are, don't feed the trolls as they say. The things they are saying speak volumes about them and very little about you.

Yes! This was something I put a lot of thought into when I was really sick.

• /u/mnicoleb1773 already mentioned body wipes, which is an essential for the spoonie life. We're living in the golden age of body wipes and I love it. There are the medical grade ones (like these) and the fancier ones they sell in stores now for, like, "active people on the go", and the deodorant ones just for underarms, or whatever. For vulva-owners, I definitely recommend a wipe designed for that area.
  
  
• After the wipes, a good body powder is sometimes helpful (I love Lush's "silky underwear" to use under arms and the underboob area).
  
  
• For hair, if yours is short enough you can use rinse-free shampoo (some even come in a shower cap form where you just put it on and smoosh it around and throw it out). I usually fared better with dry shampoo and a re-hydrating spray for curly/wavy hair since my ends tend to dry out.
  
  
• And then there's shaving. Get an electric shaver that works dry. I got this basic one for $18, and it's absolutely good enough. I even use it on underarms after getting the area clean and thoroughly dry (a tiny bit of powder rubbed in before is helpful to reduce friction).
  
  
• Another option for shaving is the shave cream by EOS. It can be used dry! And it works as long as your razor is good and sharp and you go a tiny bit slower. (I wiped a damp washcloth on my legs first and that seemed to help) And then follow it with a damp cloth to get the residue. And you can just be sitting on the floor to do this anywhere.
  
  
• When I was feeling ambitious enough to shower, a stool was essential. My shower is tiny, and this one still fit. If you've got a bigger shower stall (or even a tub!) you can find some cuter shower chairs, even.
  
  
• And I would sit to floss. And really just, any time that it was logistically possible.

I can't stand shaving bare personally, it feels nice for like half an hour and then turns into an itchy stubbly mess. For me using an electric trimmer gets me nice, clean, uniformly trimmed pubes with minimum effort.

My whole lezbro crew swears by this cheap Schick electric trimmer that you can pick up for $10-15 at most drug stores.

They also have it in black / blue / silver next to the dude's razors if you don't want it in "HEY EVERYONE DID YOU KNOW I HAVE TITS" pink.

Basically my routine is:

• Exfoliate your bits in the shower (I just gently scrub with a washcloth).
  
• Let dry completely (a hair dryer on cool can help here), then grab the trimmer.
  
• Ignore the standard cartridge razor end.
  
• Set the guard on the trimmer end to your preference (might wanna start with the longest setting and see how you like it, then redo on a shorter guard if you need).
  
• Turn trimmer on and go to town. Can't really hurt yourself with this thing. Just comb it through the hair repeatedly until it's trimmed. Take extra care to get the hairs right where your thigh meets your groin as these can be easily missed. You'll need to shake / blow hair out of the trimmer every now and then, especially if you're starting with a full bush.
  
• Once everything's nice and trimmed, I like to pop in the shower again and just wash one more time to rinse away any loose hairs. I also like to apply some conditioner like you do on your head to soften the hair (I dunno if this actually does anything tbh, but I figure it won't hurt).
  
• Dry again, powder the groin area to keep everything nice and dry throughout the day (I like Lush's silky underwear dusting powder but pretty sure it's just nicely scented talc).
  
• That's it! Woohoo!
  
  You might miss a few hairs, if so no big deal. You'll probably catch them next time you trim, and if you don't wanna wait you can use a pair of scissors or tweezers to get the offenders.
  
  You might be able to get a nicer experience with a more expensive bikini trimmer, but none of us have ever felt the need to upgrade. This thing is cheap as hell, and mine has been ticking for like 3 years (I do take it apart every few months and clean / oil the blades).

I don't have any idea on what's best in the RTA world because I pretty much stopped at the Subtank Mini but I can chip in on the supplies.

I purchased my cotton and wire from amazon, mainly because I had prime and shipping was free. The cotton I use is Koh Gen Do but really any organic, unbleached cotton is fine.

For wire, I bought a small spool of 26ga A1 Kanthal from Lightning Vapes but again, as long as it's A1 Kanthal resistance wire (or Nickel/Titanium for TC building) it should be ok.

Pretty much only picked 26ga because that's what was suggested. I don't do any crazy builds so it's worked out fine.

The little blue screwdriver that came with the tank is what I use to wrap my coils (using steam engine), otherwise you'll need a build kit or something else to build on.

I've got a little pouch that also contains a small pair of scissors, nail clippers, ceramic tipped tweezers and a 10ml bottle of unflavored VG in case I need something to prime the coil with.

If you're going to build really low, I'd suggest some sort of ohm reader to save your mod any extra wear and tear but it's not really needed as long as you've got a decent regulated mod.

This costs an arm and a leg but is worth it's weight in gold. If you notice, it's an epilator and not an electric razor, but it has an electric razor head that's ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for what you're listing. Given a good cream, you can really go to town without any fear. Like really go if you know what I'm saying. In my 4 years of using this thing, it has never once cut me using the razor head.

Now, the epilator head is also fabulous, but I would have to be a masochist to use it on my nether regions. However, it is great for the underarms and the legs! Now, the greatest and my most favorite part of all of this is that it can be used both wet and dry while being electronic so usage in the shower with your shower shaving oil or whatever is perfect!

Again, I cannot recommend this thing enough. It is steep, but I haven't bought a single razor in 4 years.

This is imposter syndrome, and it's something that I think many of us deal with or have dealt with. I'm in a very similar situation to you. I just recently turned 28, pre-everything, and have often felt like no matter what I do it will always feel fake.

One thing, that has helped me tremendously as of late, is getting serious about improving my self care routine. Get some really nice conditioner for your hair (I like this one: Aussie Miracle conditioner), exfoliate your skin, get a decent razor to take care of your body hair (I use this one for my arms, legs, chest, back, and even face, and it works great and is completely waterproof: Panasonic Electric Wet/Dry (Be sure to use the pop-up trimmer the first time you use it)), get some body lotion (I just picked this one up the other day and I love it: 'You Are Amazing' Lavender Fields)

It doesn't seem like much, but just taking special care of my body instead of letting it waste away like I had been (since I'm obviously dysphoric about it so why take care of something I hate) has drastically improved my current outlook on life.

I'm loving my Panasonic Facial Trimmer. No cuts, ingrown hairs or PIH! It's way gentler than tweezing.

I bought Benton High Content Snail Bee Skin, Lotion and Mask Packs. The Skin and Mask Packs are long-time favs and the Lotion is a new addition. The Skin and Lotion were a steal - $9 for 5 oz on Amazon Prime. Yay for snail-y, niacinamide-filled goodness!

In the beginning of the month, I started Curology (4% Azelaic Acid | 1% Clindamycin | 4% Niacinamide). I'll replace niacinamide with tretinoin soon - my provider is being cautious and tons of my skincare includes niacinamide. I switched from generic tretinoin gel 0.01% to Curology to avoid drying alcohol and try azelaic acid (for acne and PIH). So far so good!

Holy cow so many people shaving! For reference, I'm of Mediterranean decent and threading faces is a biweekly event for all the ladies in my family. I have dark hair and, if I let it go, you can clearly see a nice mustache, wild brows, exceeding hairline onto my temples and sideburns, and a overall gray haze on my face. I've been threading my entire face for years.

Honestly, yeah it hurts at the beginning for a while, but god my face never feels as breathable and exfoliated as after a nice threading session. Just be sure to baby your face after for that day by gently wiping with cotton soaked with rose water or a gentle olive oil cleanser and using a very gentle moisturizer. Don't put on any make up for that day or your face will break out. You need to give that day to your skin to breathe after weeks of wearing makeup.

Obviously YMMV. This is just my routine! :)

Please don't feel depressed. Removing hair is not a societal necessity. I hope that taking these steps to remove something that bothers you makes you feel beautiful and strong- not subverted. Have you tried hard wax? As another poster mentioned, surgiwax is also great. I'd recommend disinfecting the area with alcohol, using a clean wand for the wax and using some 2.5% BP after to keep the area free from germs that cause break outs. Exfoliating is an important step, too. I've struggled with bacne since puberty and its so devastating that I used to cover myself up. A gentle cleanser and salux cloth have entirely eliminated that problem for me. Chin up, beautiful. <3

Have you tried the Spring Sprong?
Basically it's a spring that you roll across the areas you want to remove the hair from and it plucks the hair. It may sound painful, but as a woman who also suffers from facial hair, I couldn't recommend it more.
If you go to amazon you will see several kinds of spring hair removals. I've bought the original spring sprong (and when I thought I lost it) a cheaper knock off version. Having purchased both, take my advice and go with the original spring sprong, it's a little more flexible and in turn seems to pull out more hair in a pass. It does seem a little uncomfortable at first, but within the same session of hair pulling it will become numb and not be too bothersome.
Also if you do decide to use it, please take my advise and make sure to wash your face before AND after to avoid breakouts.
Really, I've tried waxing, plucking, bleaching, and this was by far my favorite way to address the issue.

I mean I guess I could cut my own hair. I’m just bad at it. In my area, 35 is average for a cut. It comes with the wash because I think it’s easier on the stylist to deal with it wet.

Yeah it does cost money to wax. It lasts a little longer than shaving and it makes your hair finer and easier to deal with. I can’t wax my brows because of an old scar (they won’t do it over scar tissue for some reason). Some women need a full face wax. They grow hair on their face and they want to be accepted.

I just? I’m not sure I could wax my whole face on my own if I needed it and do it well. I didn’t go to school for that. I could end up with terrible skin irritation because I did it wrong or used the wrong materials. Obviously I don’t pay people to shave my legs and things because that’s daily maintenance but the other things you mentioned? I’m not sure I could do those on my own if I needed them.

If you don’t want to do all the research to purchase a warmer, wax, sticks, and other supplies separately, you can get a kit. If you decided to get all the best products separately (because they’re all different brands and can’t be purchased at a discount in a kit) it’s a little more expensive. Anyway, the most highly rated kit (meaning most reviews so best review avg) is about 46 dollars.

I mean you’re right, it could be done at home but it still costs time and money. Once the amount of time to do it is factored in, is it more worth it to do it at home? I feel like I’d be in the bathroom all night and still fuck it up.

I feel like the key word in you argument is exorbitant. And yes it may seem exorbitant based on how you personally value the service but according to the market and comparing it to doing it at home, it’s not technically exorbitant. Women don’t choose these prices and the services are somewhat socially forced upon women. I understand your point. I just hope you can also understand that I do a lot of research on these topics not just looking at a price schedule at a salon. And I can’t speak to how your wife makes these purchases or why she feels you should make purchases a certain way but I can say that based on social norms and market value, there’s very few choices for women. You’re right we could reject those choices because they aren’t great but dude then we’d end up like hippie girls with hygiene that’s just not to the standard we like. It feels like that’s the only choice we have: pay market prices or feel not so hygienic.

Yeah, you kind of gently rub is against your skin. It pinches, which is what essentially does to pull the hairs out. The little metal "teeth" (i dunno what else to call them, they look like teeth lol) open and close really fast and snatch the hairs when they close. It's best if it's it's against your skin so it pulls closest to the root, other wise you might just break the hair off.

If you gently just rub your skin with your hand, like after an itch to calm it, that's how much pressure it would use.

So I looked more into it, because I have no life and it amuses me to type it all out. Already knew the whole “women must shave this or that body part for reasons” industry was started in sexism, fashion, and imitating celebrities, but my annoyance mainly comes from the actual shaving or hair removal products themselves. These are equally advanced or held back by sexism, and the more recent history is both fascinating and frustrating to look back on. The basic history is this:

In 1770-ish, Jean-Jacques Perret wrote a guide on shaving and seemingly invented the Perret razor of a blade fixed to a handle, i.e. the straight edge, which looked like a small machete for your face.

In 1847, William S. Henson produced a razor with blades set at right angles to the handle, and in 1880 the term “safety razor” was patented by some dude or other.

In 1898, John F. O’Rourke invented the electric razor.

In 1901/1904, American inventor King Camp Gillette (no royal affiliation) and William Nickerson patented a new design of safety razor as well as disposable blades.

In 1939(?), Professor Alexandre Horowitz invented the Philishave rotary electric razor (for the Phillips company).

In 1940, it seems Remington made the first women’s electric razor, Lady Schick, the design of which hasn’t changed too much since as far as some budget electric razors go.

In 1966, Phillips added the 3rd rotary head to their razors, making the style we tend to see today in men’s rotary razors.

More modern, “nicer” women’s razors still tend to look like this style, a design men had in the early 90’s, if not earlier. Meanwhile, I’ve seen exactly one long-handled (non-octopi-shaped) women’s rotary razor and attempting to find who makes it, for the purpose of this mini history lesson, is annoying as hell because it only popped up in one random Pinterest image and that turned out not to lead to the product.

Now the popular thing is the octopi-shaped design by Finishing Touch and their competitors. Tried to find when exactly that style got invented/patented, but it’s proving too difficult. Though I’m pretty sure I started seeing them advertised towards women around…. 2010 maybe? Amusingly, it’s the same design as the electric shavers advertised for men’s bald heads, so guess which probably came first. All in all, the Finishing Touch design is about 44 years after Phillips added the 3rd rotary head and 95 years after Gillette started “The First Great Anti-Underarm Hair Campaign”.

I’m just saying, for the TL;DR that if men want women to shave everywhere, why is the industry so slow to further implement (edit: and market) better designs for women?

I bought mine when it was on sale for $89.99 They're pricey, but SO SO worth it. I haven't used any of the other attachments for the one I have but I would happily pay $100 again for it.

I find it's easier to use on totally dry skin (pre shower, pre lotion) and then lube up/scrub up in the shower, but my girlfriend says she likes to use it better in the shower. The one I linked is certified to be used in the shower, but some aren't so be careful!

Well, besides going to the doctor and asking their opinion (mine put me on Spiro for awhile which while it was a bit rough on my cycle did help not only with my adult acne did help with my hair growth, and some can recommend a gel but mine was not covered by my insurance and was EXPENSIVE so I passed) I recommend being diligent with shaving. I know, sounds like a hassle, but I have this facial hair trimmer and it works wonders. I know some people who have done laser and electrolosis (sp) which they all have said have grown back, so I've never gone that route myself. I also tweeze the prickly hairs pretty much daily if I can on my chin, but anymore I just shave in the morning and don't deal with it.

The only ones that ever really get me are the wacky "waddle" hairs I don't realize I don't get until they are really long! Just make sure you have a nice mirror and you'll be fine!

I’d recommend threading as over a long period of time the hairs start getting more fine. When I was younger, I used to bleach it but honestly I don’t think this is the best solution as the hairs are still visible in the light. They are just blonde.

Veet works too but my skin was too sensitive for the one I tried. Def test it in a small area first lest you show up for dinner with a red upper lip.

I currently use those dermaplaning blades (link below). My parents were anti-shaving and I had to sneak to a dollar general to buy my razors when I was in school. My rec is to just shave it, don’t tell your parents, hide the razors. They should have these at a Walmart/Target. Just be more careful, open the package away from home and dispose of it, hide the razors like they are matryoshka dolls.

I think you’re still good to go. Those components withstand those temperature all the time - a little molten plastic likely wouldn’t have damaged them (but the residue may char and eventually become hard black rock-like deposits and/or drip on your prints) - though your cleanup may, so as always take special care and double and triple check the steps before actually doing any procedure.

It’s probably overkill, but if you really wanted to, you can replace each component separately, though you may just want to order a full assembled hotend and scavenge it due to shipping costs, you can also source the same e3d components elsewhere (hint: e3d’s website is guaranteed authentic and they ship to US for as low as a few USD ;], though you can still potentially source them cheaper - for example 5 nozzles from e3D is $15 to $20 cheaper than those same 5 nozzles from Prusa, depending on if you want it tracked or not for e3d's cheapest). Note also some parts have their wires with custom lengths by Prusa - these parts you'll probably want to source direct from Prusa.

First, for a full breakdown, you should perform a few Atomic Pulls if you can, to remove as much plastic as possible from the inside of the hotend (more info here as #2).

There are about 3 screws you should remove for best access, which would be the print fan and shroud. Now you can remove the thermistor and heat cartridge very easily, just be careful with them as they are delicate. They may have become jammed with plastic, so I would recommend heating the block before loosening their screws. Take care to remove as much plastic from the thermistor hole as you can as the thermistor does not sit proud on one end, and this side may have plastic inside that will prevent you from reseating the thermistor later. You’ll need the two smallest hex keys from the kit (hopefully these are also included with the assembled?). Use a wrench (NOT pliers - you WILL scratch up the pretty heat block) to firmly grip the heat block, then loosen the two screws on the bottom by the nozzle. With those loose, you can gently push the heat cartridge and thermistor free (I used my hex keys for this).

Now you can easily scrub the heat block without concern of damaging the wires, though take care not to turn the heat block as you will loosen the heat break, which will cause you to leak plastic here later.

If you wanted, you can now easily remove the heat block, though it is probably recommended to remove it from the extruder body first. There are about another 6 screws preventing access. Remove the heat sink fan (the Noctua), then the two extruder body screws, and the extruder body should now easily pop apart. You can remove the hotend assembly by carefully tilting and pulling it towards the front of the printer, while applying a downwards force. It’s kinda tricky, but it’s not too hard and doesn’t require much force. With the hotend assembly removed, you can remove the heat block simply by unscrewing it from the heat break. Take special care as the heat break is delicate. The heat break must be seated at a certain depth into the heat block, so take care to measure this distance as best you can.

If you wanted, you could instead or also remove the heat sink. First, carefully remove the PTFE tube. Now, simply unscrew the heat break from the heat sink. There is a thermal compound that belongs on the threads here, which Prusa is kind enough to include with (I believe) the heat sinks (but not the solo breaks).

Now you have completely disassembled the hotend. You can scavenge any viable pieces, or replace whatever piece is necessary. Again, take very special care with reseating the heat break into the heat block. It must be at a very specific depth or the nozzle will not be able to properly seat against it, and plastic will drip out from these threads.

Of course, you could also order a whole preassembled hotend. I did that, then pulled the thermistor/heat cartridge on both the full new hotend and my used hotend, then I could pull and replace the whole hotend while leaving the thermistor/heat cartridge connected (skipping the whole wire loom debacle).

Of course this is all super overkill.

1. Heat up the hotend
   
2. Remove any large remaining bits of plastic with tweezers
   
   • ESD Tweezers can reach into tighter spaces.
     
   • Ceramic Tweezers will not get hot to hold.
     
   • Take care as not to scratch anything.
     
   • Remove plastic from two screw heads on bottom of heat block (if any).
     
   • Remove plastic from the thermistor's hole on the side of the heat block (if any).
     
   • Remove plastic from between the heat block and the heat sink (if any).
     
3. Carefully wipe down with q-tips/paper towels dipped in IPA
   
4. Good to go.
   
   Just be careful around the wires. They're not super fragile, but they also aren't very strong. Too much force and you will snap them. They're not difficult or expensive to replace, but the wire loom can be annoying and time consuming

Ok, so I don't have actual relationship advice, but I have some great shaving advice.

I get shaving bumps, 100% of the time, exfoliating doesn't help, blah blah blah. Electric trimmers are the best tools! They're easier to use, they never burn, wider area per stroke, don't need to be in a shower to use. I find it to be just as close as a razor.

I got the DESS permanent hair removal device. It works amazing. I also use this electric razor that works great. It's only around $15 and it blades are good for like 6 months for me. In combination it's good enough after a couple laser sessions. I would also recommend getting professional laser hair removal for the face done at a clinic, their lasers are more powerful. Typically laser sessions are $100-$250 a month, or total around $1500-$2500.

I just found this sub, my son and I are both dealing with issues.
I'm obsessed with tweezing my facial hairs, but I try to keep them plucked anyway to stop myself from using my fingernails, especially around friends and family. I've been trying wax and I also bought a finishing touch brow pen, although I use it on chin and neck area mostly. I'm not sure if that's something you've tried or whether it would help but I will link to it. Okay, I'll bite. These are all items I currently carry in my EDC organizer that are under $10.

You'll get faster. You'll need to figure some stuff out for laser, if you go down that route. I eventually found that pre-surgery prep videos are a good way to learn to shave sensitive areas.

I also found that I don't need to be silky smooth every day. I still shave my face with a Harry's razor and cream (sometimes twice a day), and if I need to shave my legs (or anything else) I use a Harry's razor with a thin layer EOS cream shave. It's more like a shaving lotion or butter, and comes in a pump.

I always shave with the grain, and then can follow against if I need to and the area isn't too sensitive.

But the real game changer for me has been this electric razor. I did considerable review shopping before I found it, and it's glorious. You can replace the blades and foils, it works wet or dry, has a trimmer, and good power. Per the reviews, only use it if you are super wet (I use the same cream shave in this case) or super dry. When I shave dry, I can get most of my body in about 20 minutes. I pull down with the grain of the hair, slightly angling the razor so the clipper part (not extended) catches long hair before it reaches the foil. I then pull back in the opposite direction. If I need to, I can make multiple passes without irritation. I'll usually just hit one half of a limb at a time, making quick down/up strokes, and then touch up anything I miss. No, it's not as smooth as a razor shave, but it's pretty freaking good, and I can save the hard work for those days when I expect to be skin to skin with someone.

Twice-daily shaving? Cut nipples? Ouch! I did say epilating hurts, but as I've been doing it regularly it has been getting easier, and randomly bleeding hair follicles are fairly uncommon (and it's only a little bit of blood). This is the device I'm using, and it has been doing a pretty solid job so far.

Unfortunately I have very few female friends that I can turn to for clothing advice, but one of my male friends has experience with makeup since he did some theatre stuff back in high school so I was able to get some pointers from him for that at least.

I find your advice with being comfortable with your genital region very important. Even shaving in the anal region well I sit in good lighting and put a towel under me get out the shaving cream and use a razor. It's the only way to get everything if you are worried about it. You notice you miss a lot generally in the shower to be hairless. Also around the anus go with the the grain of the skin not the opposite direction.

You can make the tiny hairs under the skin come out before shaving and you are smooth. You don't even have to shower first to get a smooth shave. I usually wait 2 days maybe 3 to do it again.
Also I never wear underwear unless I'm on my period. This helps a lot with ingrorowns. I never have any.

Would love to try waxing though. Just hate letting it grow out that much.

Long time reader, first time posting. I'm an 18 year old girl and I personally find body hair on a woman disgusting and I have been shaving for the longest time, even when I'm not hooking up with anyone.

I understand your concern for razor bumps. If you continue shaving everything, I suggest putting on First-Aid ointment (like Neosporin) after and once a day in between shaving. This will make your skin a lot smoother and reduce the look of bumps.

Or, if you decide you want to trim instead so you don't get bumps at all, I suggest letting it grow a little bit and use scissors to trim. Then, use this. It's $9 and a great investment. You can do your bikini line and some fun design like a landing strip. It's great because you don't get irritated and you can use it all over your body; I use it on my arms and eyebrows. Shaving your legs can be a huge pain in the ass but I have found it makes a gigantic difference in my ability to not only grip the pole but maintain my stamina during multiple classes. If you happen to sweat heavily (like me), your body hair is not only collecting and creating more moisture but it's preventing anything you apply on your skin from being fully effective. Grip aid, for example, just gets caught on the hair instead of your thighs. If you've been using a razor for shaving, I would ditch it and instead pick up a simple electric wet/dry razor instead. You can even get away with just shaving your inner thighs and back of knees if those are the areas of greatest concern.

I use the flawless epilator from Finishing Touch. It is technically a shaver but it works well and it feels smooth. I have been using it for about a year and had no rough patches or anything like that. And I usually only need to do it like every three weeks or so, sometimes less. I was like you, plucking every freaking hair, occasionally using a depilatory cream or waxing, both of which irritated the heck out of my sensitive skin. Then I saw this cheesy as-seen-on-tv device on Amazon with all these crazy amazing reviews. Since it's been out a while, I noticed there are more negative reviews now, but I still think it is a gamechanger. It has a teeny tiny rotating razor of some sort, and it shaves superclose. I know shaving doesn't sound that revolutionary (and the description of the device never used the word shave) but it somehow makes the hair grow back slower and a little softer! It doesn't make any sense, but it's amazing. No pain whatsoever! And, it's the size of a fat mascara tube so you can keep it in your makeup bag for quick touchups. Note that it doesn't work on coarse hair like underarms, but regular shaving is much faster for that anyways. With this thing, you have to move in a circular, overlapping motion to get all the hairs, but only takes a minute or two to do my lip.

Sorry if I sound like a shill, but I just love this thing! It's made my life so much easier.

Yes, there are several different options depending on what you want and your budget. I got the Braun Silk-épil 9 9579 The research I did beforehand said that it's the best on the market and after using it several times I definitely don't doubt that. It's one of the pricier ones ($110-140 on Amazon) but quite worth it. It came with several different attachments and an exfoliator that also works really well. If you're looking for something cheaper there are a few but I'd recommend waiting to get something that's going to last.

To be honest, the type of wax contributes to the pain level pretty significantly. I have gone to get it "professionally" done and ended up bruised and with some lingering hair that they missed...and out 45 dollars.
I got a home kit that was the same thing: it hurt like crazy, bruised me, and the wax wouldn't come all the way off, so I walked around with this weird sticky feeling around my junk.

The problem, I found out, is that most salons and home kits use soft wax, which is the gooey stuff you need cloth strips to rip off your skin. I had a friend recommend hard wax instead, and I was skeptical, but she told me it was way worth it.

I was totally shocked at how much better it was. It took a bit of practice to get it right, but totally worth it. The wax doesn't stick to your skin as much as the soft wax, it's way easier to rip off, and it doesn't hurt very much. I should qualify that, it DOES hurt, but it isn't bad at all. The trick is to do it in small patches at a time, and because you wait for the wax to harden on your skin, you can prep multiple places at once. Plus since you pull the wax itself off, you don't have to worry about running out of cloth strips.

The trickiest part is figuring out how to reach certain places, but once you get a little flexible it's great. Smooth skin, no red bumps like with shaving, and the hair grows back "thinner" as time goes on. It might be cheaper than shaving too, especially if you use disposable razors, but I'm not sure.

The downside is that it takes way more time than shaving, and a lot more patience and prep work (heating up the wax, prepping skin, etc).

I really like deemaplaning. They’re small, gentle razors and I only need to do it every week or two after showering. Bonus: light exfoliating and helps makeup application. I bought a 3 pack on Amazon and each one lasts me 2-3 weeks with good care. But be careful because they are SHARP and I accidentally took off some eyebrow one time.

Mug and brush is more of a European phenomenon than an American one, at least for now. But yeah, there are a whole bunch of different options regarding soap, brushes, razors, and blades.

A few years ago, I got a very nice, Chinese stainless steel razor free with a large pack of Derby blades that I'm still using. This was shortly after my foray into mug and brush shaving. Since then, I've tried Omega soap I still use the plastic container it came in for my "mug."

After that, it was some Herban Cowboy I got at the supermarket for $4; it lasted over a year of daily shaves. I liked it but they stopped carrying it. So, I bought a 12-pack of Van Der Hagen shave soap from Amazon for about $15 (price has gone up a bit since then.) This stuff is great; it doesn't have quite the longevity of the Herban Cowboy, but it's even cheaper.

I've been shaving this way for about the past 10 years, starting with a hand-me-down safety razor from my father. Along with the much reduced trash output compared to using compressed shave cream and disposable razors, the thing that really got my attention about the mug and brush method is how inexpensive it is. I'm spending less than $10 a year to shave.

Face fuzz/down grows downward usually.

So when you’re done applying foundation, go over your face one more time (same tool or a clean brush whatever you please), going downwards/with the “grain” of the hair to brush it all back in place.

Go easy on the finishing powder, if you use it. Powder loves hair. Hair hates powder. I like Sephora’s powder foundation best (or the old school Candlelight Glow by too face RIP</3 if you ever find it for sale online? Get it tho)

And/or use a little face trimmer thingy, I’m not particularly fuzzy but my brows don’t know that and I get a ton of down trying to join up with my hairline between my brows and temples.

I’d rather that not be a thing, so I’ve been using this cheesy/wonderful product since I was a teenager. I’m now 34 and am only on my third, so if you go that route, it’s definitely worth the $8

I use a special eyebrow / grooming razor like this. I have crazy long sideburns & tons of fluffy blond peach fuzz. It It were darker, I swear it would look like I had a full on man beard. But these little razors are great! I just shave every few days after washing my face at night. It is so easy & affordable. As a bonus, they really exfoliate my face well. I have been using them for a few years now, and no, my hair has not grown back thicker or darker :)

You are in the same situation as me, Im not on hormones and i have thick long body hair, doing the same as you currently too, trying to find the best way to remove the hair.

Epilators are sometimes called "Electric Waxers" from what ive seen, but basically anywhere you can wax, you can epilate (So yes, all the places you said it should work).

Razors annoy me too, so ive been looking into other ways of removing it too. I just got some Nair today to try, but i was actually looking for Veet hair removal, as they have a special one designed for men, but i couldn't find it in the stores (But i found Nair, and it was half price so yay!)

Have you tried using off the shelf wax strips? they can be costly depending on what brand, i got Boots own ones for £2.94 (Again, half price sale though) yesterday, 20 re-usable strips (To an extent.. i was using them on very hair legs, it took 1 pack and 1/4 to do 90% of my legs). Worked very easily, you just rub them between your hands to warm them up and fold them back over and rub again between uses.

I haven't tried doing my chest yet however as since i may be getting hormones next month depending on how things go, i might get a full wax professionally to get rid of all the chest hair and back hair (As it is very long and thick) so it is easier for me to manage later.

The second "frame" for the main head is really helpful, I switch back and forth. The bikini one is also nice, taking the full-sized head to your pubes the first is a bit much. However, you can edge around as you trim with the full size, it's just not as easy.

It's pricey but 10,000% worth it, IMO.

I’ve tried waxing, threading, shaving- everything. It all makes me breakout, this is the only thing that works and is gentle enough that it doesn’t have any negative effects on my skin. It looks nice too, and it’s portable so that’s a plus.

It doesn’t work great on thicker hair (upper lip, unibrow and chin for me), I can usually still see that hair below my skin even after using this so I usually tweeze or use an eyebrow razor on those areas. But for cheeks, neck and forehead, the thinner hair that creates “fuzz,” this is perfect!

Let me just add- do. not. shave. I used to do it for years, I even thought it was “good” for my skin because it’s exfoliating. But since I’ve stopped the texture of my skin has been so, so much better. Shaving is way too harsh for facial skin. I have a lot of facial hair so I totally understand that urge, but trust me. Use a combination of tweezing and the hair remover I linked above- even if you have to do it every day it won’t harm your skin at all.

Hi there. I have hirsutism from PCOS, so I pretty much have the same problem as you. This year I bought the first swimsuit I actually feel pretty good in. (Yeah, I know, Walmart.) I kind of have a double-whammy with showing my tummy too because I have colitis and it often gets a bit swollen--and I'm very very pale with dark hair. Yay! :(

For my arms, I use a trimmer like this and trim the hair down, then bleach it. The bleach really doesn't last too long in the summer--maybe a week tops if I'm lucky. But it's the closest thing I can get to looking decent, and I can't afford laser hair removal.

I don't use it anywhere else just because it would take FOREVER to do a larger body area like arms or legs. It might be better for small areas like hair on the tops of your feet or a happy trail, although I've never tried.

I bought one of these last year and have LOVED it. With that type of wax you don't have to worry about the strips. Just smooth it on and rip it off.

I tend to wax my bikini line during the summer, but for more intimate areas like closely around my vulva, I like to use electric shavers. I use this one from Panasonic. It's ok, not super great but it is really quick (and cheap) and easy to use.

Tinkle eyebrow razors. They're six for $5, use one every two weeks.

I have blonde hair and always felt conflicted about my "peach fuzz" face because on the one hand I thought that's not another thing women should have to worry about shaving, but at the same time even though mine is very light, it bothered me.

Finally saw those razors recommended, and I'm happy with the results. It doesn't remove every bit of hair, but trims it very close, very quickly, and very economically. It doesn't have any negative side effects when growing out. Just about two weeks later I decide to do it again.

Makeup sits much more nicely on my face.

I shave and absolutely love it! I just pick up these from Amazon and throw one in my purse, my toiletry bag, my makeup bag, and then one at work because my hair has a mind of its own.

I've found that it helps my skin stay healthy and happy because the razor also helps by removing a small number of dead skin cells.

My suggestion for using the small razors is after you take a shower, apply a creamy face cleanser or lotion to your chin/neck/cheeks and then take the blade down the areas with grain of the hair. This will prevent you from getting razor burn and ingrown hairs.

Sadly, I have not actually purchased one yet. However, I have my eye on this one from emjoi, I like the purple one too, but it's costs more and the only difference is color. They also make a black one, if that's what you're into.

Now this is a dry epilator, so it has to be used outside of the water, after soaking would likely be best, to soften the hairs and skin.

There are also wet/dry epilators like the BRAUN Silk-Epil 7 which can be used in the shower/bath, but I've heard they are a bit too rough for more sensitive areas like the bikini line.

For when you finish, there are after-epilation creams that are supposed to slow regrowth and sooth the skin.

Also, epilators are essentially electric tweezers, so if pain is a problem, you should probably not use one.

My current routine is to use a safety/straight-razor and that takes forever anyway, and then the hair grows right back all sharp on the ends.

You may want to look into getting a quality epilator. Here's the one I use. I LOVE IT for my legs. It does smart the first few times, but after that it doesn't hurt and the hair comes in less frequently.

It's pricey, but definitely worth it.

Look up facial shaving on YouTube or reddit. I do it and know a good amount of people in the beauty subs here do too. The best way is using a single blade razor designed for this: Tinkle razors.

I've never tried a hair growth serum, but I do have a slight mustache which I've tried several removal methods. I hate waxing and plucking. I used to love the Sally Hansen version of a cream facial hair remover; however, if you have sensitive skin it may not be the best as it can be irritating and even burn if you leave it on too long.

For the past year or so though, I've been using this women's facial hair trimmer. It's pretty cheap and comes with attachments for eyebrow grooming as well. It's completely quick and painless. You do have to use it regularly (every week or two depending on how fast your hair grows) or you can begin to see slight stubble. I usually know when to use it again because my boyfriend makes a mention of my mustache coming back. I've noticed it gets even tiny peach fuzz which might be good for dermaplaning your face if you're into it though I've never tried it myself.

Thick, dark, coarse hair around your chin and neck might be indicative of hormonal imbalance - have you spoken to a doctor? Birth control could help.

Lurker here. I bought a Bellabe facial hair remover years ago (I'm pretty sure that's the brand I purchased, if not it looks identical). It basically works like threading. I use it all the time for my chin and upper lip. It's pretty painful at first (like threading), but it works and I can still use my prescription retinol. Plus it only costs like $15 on Amazon. From a lady: they make combo trimmer/razers. Something like this. Then grab a washcloth, shave cream of choice, and (trust me on this) some gel style deodorant.

First, use the trimmer side to trim everything down short with the shortest guard setting. It doesn't have to be perfect, you're just clearing some bush so you can see the roots, so to speak. Second, hop on a warm shower, lather up, and delicately shave. As you finish a section, come by and gently scrub it with your washcloth. This will help reveal missed hairs, and I've found it reduces my chance of razor burn. When you are done with your shower, any place prone to ingrowns or chaffing gets the gel deodorant. Repeat with the washcloth and deodorant every shower, and reduce bumps and ingrowns. The key is to gently stretch the skin, not super taught, just enough to smooth things out. Don't apply a lot of pressure, and let the sharpness of the blade do the work. I find this is all too much work, and only so shave the bikini line, but trim the rest like step 1.

This same thing used to happen to me! I have super sensitive skin and I had to stop waxing/threading because of it.

This going to sound crazy but have you tried shaving your face? I don't mean with shaving cream and razor like a man. And you're inevitably going to have some unwanted facial hair. I have one of these and I can't even express how effective and convenient it is for my mustache. You're also going to want some good skin care! Pick a moisturizer and use it twice a day, at least. I recommend oil-free, and it doesn't have to be fancy. I use Neutrogena or its store-brand dupe.

I use these a few times a week and they last a good while before needing a new one. You can laser or electrolysis them but this method is affordable and easy. Just draw a template of what you want your eyebrow shape to be and scrape away what you don't want. Keeping them trimmed is easy with this after that. These also work great for scraping dead skin off your face every so often.

Before I even was on meds, I had tried everything from nair, to waxing, to sugar waxing, to tweezing off my hairs. I got so tired of making my skin bleed from having to use tweezers on it everyday, that I bought a epilator and that was my dream come true. Hurts like a mother, but it does the job. And it doesn't cause me to bleed at all.
Now I take metformin 2000mg, ovasitol, spironolactone 25mg. I'm still in the stages of figuring things out so I hope my meds help with the hirsutism and many other PCOS symptoms.

My hirsutism is bad enough that I found this to be my solution. So an epilator might be a bit much if you don't have to remove as much hair. I have to use it everyday, as well as shave other parts that are too painful to use the epilator on.

Tips for next time (if there is one):

• Buzz the hair first, so it is between .5 to 2 inches.
  
• Clean the area, and your hands!
  
• Start from the outside, like a jigsaw puzzle.
  
• Apply small patches of wax with the grain.
  
• Pull against the grain.
  
• Immediately apply pressure to the (now hairless) spot to ease any pain.
  
• Use strip wax; it's by far the easiest to do on yourself.
  
• Use a light toner, and optional cooling gel afterwards.
  
  The reason why he still has hairs (and probably hurt like a maniac), is because it wasn't done correctly and just broke off the hairs instead of ripping them out. Tell him to use gentle soaps for a while, and some coconut oil or scentless, light moisturizer to heal. Don't wear tight clothes, and don't touch it!! He's going to be super prone to zits/ingrown hairs for the next 12 hours now.

Get yourself a one of these I’ve used mine for 10 years. My mom and sister both use them after I bought them their’s. It’s not a blade, so your fears of “shaving” are taken care of. It won’t cut you. It’s like a tiny beard trimmer. But it takes hair off right down to the skin. I shave my side burns, lip, random chin hairs that may pop up. It’s a great tool.

I think little battery operated trimmers are perfect for this. You can find them at just about any drugstore (often in the "As Seen on TV" section). I put a link to one on Amazon so you can see what I mean. For me, it seems to work best to go downward on the cheeks, and upward on the upper lip. These are cheap, so it would be worth a try to see if this works well for her. I pluck the few coarse hairs that show up on my chin sometimes, otherwise I use this gadget. Very cheap, doesn't hurt at all, and very quick to use with no mess.

It depends on what your needs happen to be.

I've tried pretty much every type and brand, due to my notoriously thick, dark hair. I prefer corded units because they are more powerful. I've found that after a year or so, the rechargeable units tend to lose power, and they start to hesitate when they grab on to a firmly rooted hair shaft. This causes pain. The best thing is to have a quick, efficient extraction.

Wet/dry models are rechargeable, so if you have thin to normal hair shafts, these are great because they are so versatile. I use this on my fine arm hair about once every three months or so. I have settled on the Panasonic ESED90P which always works great.

For my legs, I rely on a 10 year old Epilady. They don't make that model any longer, but when I replace it, I'll get another Epilady.

Does it have to be electronic? I'm a big fan of dermablading and you can buy pretty inexpensive razors for that. Or you can use the dermaflash - Of course, I recommend doing a bit of research and deciding if it's right for you :)

I use Gigi's Brazilian hard wax. You can order the kit on Amazon for about $40. It comes with the Brazilian wax, the wax warmer, a nice amount of wooden sticks, and pre-epilation oil which really helps with the waxing process. It's sooo worth it. I've recommended the kit to a couple of girlfriends and they are very pleased with it. I'm not sure if you mentioned that you've had them done professionally in the past, but do go at least once or twice to a reputable waxer so you'll have an idea of what to expect, regarding pain. Try to wax or get waxed a week or so right after you finish your period (it tends to be most painful before or right after your monthly.)

• wax small portions at a time! it's less painful to rip off, and if you eff up and let the wax harden too much, or put too little wax, or too much, it's easier to deal with a small strip than painstakingly yanking off one ginormous chunk

I got this for trimming about two years ago and never looked back. I usually take off the extender thingy and do a very close trim. It's perfect for all the tiny places down there.

I just did a bunch of research on this like two days ago! For my purposes, it came down pretty close between this Panasonic and this Braun. I picked the Braun and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

I'm going to second what the other commenter said and suggest you pick up an epilator. it hurts like hell, particularly the first time you use it, but it leaves you so smooth for such a long time, its totally worth.

A bit spendy but it works really well and has a bunch of cool attachments, and with epilators, you really get what you pay for. The cheap ones aren't worth the plastic they're made of.

Yes! Ladies, I highly, highly recommend using a spring facial hair remover if you don't already. The amount of time I save using this thing was well worth the $20 I paid for it. There are also much cheaper options, but I haven't tried them out, so I can't vouch for their effectiveness.

The two sides spin in opposite directions, so the direction I'm pulling it in doesn't matter as much. Sometimes I go up, sometimes down. Mine didn't come with a sensitive area cap and it's huuuge haha - so if I hold it in the correct direction of the hair growth I can't get it into the bikini line area. The only trick I've run into is that the hair in the top center of my mons grows evrry which way, so I turn the epiliator in a circle to get
everything.

I have a lot of peach fuzz on my face too. This product removes hair very easily and doesn't hurt very badly. It's cheap and works well. Just roll the spring over your face and it removes the hairs, even the little downy ones.

If you have any suggestions or advice on how to go the dewy route, please do tell! You do it very well! I've always gone with matte foundations and have been too worried going into the dewy goddess realm.

I hear that dermablading (shaving) your face will help with makeup application if you didn't want to go the waxing route. I've used these guys to just touch up my eyebrow area if I can't find tweezers, but they work just as well on any other part of your face. But again, haven't gone and used them for my stache.

I have one of these, and it serves me quite faithfully. Many reviews say that it's lasted them years, I've only had mine for six or so months. I would recommend it, and purchase it again.

I use a REM Spring which someone told me is gentler than threading. So far I like it. It does hurt a bit when you first use it, but it's not that bad. I've never had much irritation from it, but mind you, my skin is not too sensitive. Might be worth looking into. There are cheaper knock off versions if it seems a bit too pricey:

EVERYONE should have one of these. It would make our bodies super silky smooth (better than normal straight razors can). Maybe bath time would be a little more fun.

So first thing: you definitely shouldn't feel gross about having a lady 'stash OR asking about how to deal with it. A LOT of the lovely ladies here deal with facial hair in varying degrees.
Second thing: Being one of those ladies, I use a similar razor to this one, and it works well. Not a long lasting solution, but it's not at all irritating.

I have a kit a lot like this one and have had it for years, and have never run out of wax. It takes a while to get the hang of it, and you're probably gonna wax off more than you intended at first, so make sure you've got a good brow pencil handy! But once you've got it down, you'll wonder why you ever paid anyone to do it.

You can curl or perm your eyelashes. Tinted lip balm. I also like light brown mascara and maybe a tiny bit of blush. I find it all too be low maintenence and subtle enough for me.

Reading all the comments for Veet for Men on Amazon. Seriously, the first few are quite funny, there are a few bland ones and there are some absolutely hilarious ones. I couldn't talk I was laughing so hard.

I stay away from razors in general for my nether regions, and have had good luck with the Schick Quattro Trimstyle (https://www.amazon.com/Schick-Quattro-Trimstyle-Bikini-Trimmer/dp/B001TH8Q72/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1499892235&sr=8-2&keywords=schick+quattro+trimstyle). I only use the trimmer, and love it--it has a protective cover that you can either leave on, or remove to get a closer trim. Occasionally I will splurge and get a wax, but that's rare. I've never had any skin issues using the trimmer.

*Edited to add that I have had the same trimmer for over 5 years, and it's still going strong--all it needs is a battery change every few months, depending on how often I use it, and a quick rinse after using it.

i use this with shaving cream. I trim it first then shave and it comes out great!

Personally I find coarseness is more important than length for consistent epilating. Just experiment a bit and find out for yourself what you can epilate and what you can't to get the idea. Also the quality of the epilator is very important, it's not worth it to cheap out. $100 USD is the minimum you want to pay imo. I recommend this one. If you're really pinching pennies go for the epil 7, but otherwise the 9 is totally worth the money.

I recommend something like this:

its what I have been using for years, simply sanitize it after every use. I suggest doing this before washing your face, then washing. To prevent breakouts - plus you don't want your pores to be open when shaving.

Rake across the coil with something stiff like you're strumming a guitar. This gets the hotspots out 10 times out of 10 for me. I have ceremic tweezers like this (different brand, same tweezer), and use the opposite end (as in the non-tweezing end) to do it.
