What system you play on is beside the point. Let's see what we can plan out for you.

I'm basing this off of your other comment's projected budget, $500 - $1000.

__

First and foremost, your wheel and pedals. Whether you start with your cockpit/wheelstand or wheel is mostly up to preference, but I'd start with a wheel first, since a wheel clamped to a desk with pedals on a floor is the minimum of simracing, whilst a rig with no wheel is just a glorified gaming seat. Plus, what you get first sets the budget of what comes after it, and I wouldn't prioritize an expensive rig over a good wheel.

Anyway, where you go from here pretty much depends on how much you're looking to spend. If your budget is $500 - $1000 and you're looking to get a whole setup going, I'd keep the wheel+pedal spending to $500 or less. This will leave you with a decent amount of wiggle room for rigs and accessories. All of the suggested wheels are compatible with Xbox One.

_____

Wheels and Pedals

  • Thrustmaster TMX

A budget wheel if there ever was one. It's by no means a bad wheel, for $200. It has reasonably strong FFB and similar build to its more expensive counterpart, the TX. Though with a brushed motor and belt-gear hybrid system, it's not as strong nor as smooth as the TX. As someone who's tried its PlayStation counterpart (the T150, basically the same base with a slightly different rim), I'd say it's 75% the quality for 50% the price. If you're on a strict budget and know you'll be on one for a while, it's a pretty good deal.

^(NOTE: As of writing this, it's currently on sale for $160!)

  • Thrustmaster TMX Pro

If you're planning to drive with an H-gate shifter in the future, then this version of the TMX is a good deal. Instead of the standard 2-pedal Thrustmaster set, it comes with Thrustmater's T3PA Pedals. On top of getting a clutch pedal, it includes a conical brake mod, designed to give more tension to your brake pedal and allow you to better control braking. Plus, in just about any wheel-supported Xbox One game you can map the brake to the clutch and put the conical brake mod behind it, giving your legs more room if you're not using an H-gate shifter. Though if you know you never want to use an H-gate, it might be better value to just get the standard TMX and use a DIY solution for modding the brake.

  • Thrustmaster TX

In case you're wondering, yes, it comes with Ferrari branding as standard. Anyway, this is arguably the best bang-for-your-buck. TX TX's rim is interchangeable, so if you're not a fan of the stock one, you can replace it with another Thrustmaster rim of your choosing. On top of that, its belt-driven FFB system is a bit stronger and considerably smoother than the TMX, not to mention that it's hard mountable (is able to be screwed-in to a rig instead of needing a clamp). While some get the TMX as a starter wheel and upgrade later, this wheel is often people's one-stop for sim racing, since it's just that good.

^(NOTE: You really picked the best time to get into sim racing, this wheel is only $257 as of writing this! $400 is a decent price for this wheel but the current price is an absolute steal.)

  • Thrustmaster TX Leather Edition

Similarly to the TMX, this is Thrustmaster's step-up version of the wheel; not only does it include a special black version of the T3PA pedals, it also includes a much better rim. While its style is more akin to the TMX, its rim is made from a metal frame, making it feel more solid than the TMX and standard TX plastic rims, and is wrapped in a nice leather instead of rubber. For only $67 more than the standard TX, it's a significant savings over buying the parts separately.

  • Fanatec CSL Elite

This is the premium class of wheels, for the most part. Fanatec's hardware is generally only built from the best of materials and offer some of the best performance, along with being open to Fanatec's wider, more advanced selection of parts and accessories. However, unlike most wheel bases, this is only the wheel base, no rim or pedals included. If you want Fanatec's base CSL offerings for a rim and pedals, the price jumps to about $470, the same price as the TX, but that's only with two pedals. If you want their 3-pedal base instead, the price jumps up to $590, and if you want a GT style rim instead, you're already over $600 with the 2-pedal set, $700 with the 3-pedal set. Fanatec's gear is top-quality, but it comes at a price. Is the bit of extra quality worth the prices that the parts quickly add up to? That's subjective. At the very least, I wouldn't recommend Fanatec Gear if you're on a budget, but maybe consider it for the future.

    _____

    Rigs and More

There are some Xbox One wheels for you to consider. I hope my explanations made sense, I wanted to make sure to convey the different aspects of each wheel so you could better make a decision.

If you want my personal recommendation though, I'd say the TX, especially since it's on sale. $250 for that base is a great price, it's a near-perfect balance of budget with performance.

Next on the list, a rig. If we're assuming that you're willing to reach towards the upper-end of your budget, then continuing here after you get your wheel is a no-brainer. Having a dedicated place to secure your wheel and mount your pedals makes for a far better experience than sitting at a table, especially if you're playing in front of a TV.

Keep in mind that there are two types of rigs, wheel stands and cockpits. Wheelstands are only meant to mount your wheel and pedals, where you sit is up to you. They're designed to be foldable and easy to carry, making them perfect for playing in front of the living room TV or using in a small apartment. Dedicated cockpits take things to the next level, securing your seat to the wheel and pedals means that you won't have to worry about anything sliding around, and makes things more comfortable overall.

As much as I want to continue though, there are many, many great options to choose from and reddit has a length limit on comments. For more information on building your rig, you can check out the r/Simracing Buyer's Guide in the wiki. It includes everything wheels and rigs to accessories and monitor mounts.

Cheers, and let me know if you have any questions.

it's a matter of price in the end, but here's my ramblings.

The Logitech path sets you back $300 for a complete set.

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Dual-Motor-Feedback-Driving-Responsive/dp/B016JBE8LU/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1539590704&sr=1-4&keywords=logitech%2Bg29&th=1

However, there's no upgrade path from there, and if you decide to eventually upgrade to another wheel, you'll need an adapter for both the pedals and the shifter. Additionally, the FFB is not as good as the T300RS or equivalent systems and the shifter is worse than the TH8A, and is 6+R, not 7+R.

The Thrustmaster equivalent would be a T300RS or TX System (they are apparently equivalent).
Including the Shifter, it sets you back about $550.

https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Racing-Wheel-Leather-Premium-Official/dp/B0151K6FPC/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1539590463&sr=1-1&keywords=thrustmaster%2Btx&th=1

Comparing to the Logitech, the FFB is better. From what I've heard, the pedals are similar in quality.

I've used the G27 shifter and I own the TH8A and the thrustmaster is quite a bit better, and can be put in sequential mode as well. Additionally, it can be used as an analogue handbrake, which is pretty cool for the price. The shifter can also be connected by USB, so that's a component you'd be able to keep should you decide to upgrade in the future.

Also, Thrustmaster makes a variety of bases, some more high-end than what you're looking at, so you'd have an upgrade path without switching manufacturers and having to find a solution for pedals.

As for the TMX Pro, the wheel + the T3pa pedals + the shifter cost around $415. (look at the proposed sets)

https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Force-Feedback-racing-wheel-WINDOWS/dp/B01CI97DNM/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1539591097&sr=1-3&keywords=thrustmaster+tmx+pro

However, I would not buy the T3pa's separately. If you buy separate pedals, I'd go for the Fanatec CSL Elite Pedals with the Loadcell Brake. They are more expensive, but a lot better and have USB connectivity, should you switch manufacturers in the future.

https://www.fanatec.com/us-en/pedals/csl-elite-pedals-lc-usa.html

I hope I've not confused you too much.

In conclusion:

Logitech
-> Ok Force Feedback, Ok Pedals, Meh Shifter $300 | No Upgrade Path

T300 (VG TX) incl T3pa + TH8A
-> Good Force Feedback, Ok Pedals, Good Shifter $550 | Upgrade Path for Wheel base/Rims

TMX Pro + Fanatec CSL Elite LC + TH8A ->
Ok Force Feedback, Great Pedals, Good Shifter $550 | Upgrade Path unlimited, all separately connected via USB.

All that said, it depends a lot on how serious you want to get. If you already know that you're not going to go full sim-racing, the Logitech is going to be plenty good enough for you.

However, if you want to start sim-racing seriously, and are looking at games such as iRacing, RaceRoom, rFactor, pCars, Assetto Corsa and the like, good pedals make you quicker than good wheels

u/pureracingevolution · 3 pointsr/Games

They wiped out all support for previous 360 XID wheels, which is ridiculous. And they don't seem to be planning on making a new entry-level type wheel, like your official 360 one.

There are only two Xbox One supported wheels at the moment, the Thrustmaster and Madcatz (sorry for it being a link to Kotaku, but it is a good basic run down, with people talking about Microsoft's decision to stop supporting 360 wheels in the comments).

They're both $400 USD. I honestly couldn't tell you how good they are myself, but I'd imagine you'd be able to use the pedals, since the official 360 wheel's pedals were dogshit, these are more like just poop - useable (but no clutch pedal still).

But the Madcatz does have a lap base fitting you can use, and it is wireless. The Thrustmaster's more bulky and isn't wireless, would definitely need to be used on something solid like a desk or a rig.

So the tradeoff is that the Madcatz is more plasticy but more portable, tuneable, and comfortable to use (arguably). Then the TM is more solid, compatible with PC, and is sure to last on the outboard hardware side of things (TM's history with its internals breaking is a different story)

Here's an in-depth review of the Madcatz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kyHwH5zCOk

And the TM:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhwe1DWF9x0

There should be more wheels coming down the line in the future, but I'm pretty sure it'll be no less than $300. I don't know why these companies seem to think there's no market for a solid entry-level wheel ~$150. People would eat it up.

Oh wow, as I was finishing up this post, I checked prices for the two wheels online and found a new wheel that's coming out October 15th, a "Hori wheel" that's $90, check it out:
http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Racing-Wheel-One-Xbox/dp/B00L6AVN6S/ref=zg_bs_6469287011_5

Seems like it'll be what you'll want if you don't mind the lack of FFB.

Also, the TM wheel is only $324 USD on Amazon at the moment:

|What games/sims are the most life like?

  • iracing
  • rfactor 2
  • assetto corsa
  • game stock car 2013/extreme

All of the above games are more or less the most popular games with the best physics. They all have their up and downsides. They are all miles ahead of any codemasters f1 game or forza. They also all offer the ability to drive open-wheel cars, although some games require mods or dlc to do so.

    | What wheels are the best?

If you want a good xbox one compatible wheel then you're basically looking at the Thrustmaster TX. It has a really good belt driven system and has a detachable rim. The downside is you need to buy a separate set of pedals and shifter if you want to drive manual. If you want something less expensive, the best bang for your buck IMO is the Logitech G27, but it is PC/PS3 only.

    |How much cost is associated with sim racing?

Well essentially you need a wheel and a game. A good wheel will set you back anywhere between $200-$700, and most games are between $20-$60.

If you want participate in competitive online racing, you are basically going to have to go with iracing. They have by far the best multiplayer. However, you have to pay a subscription fee and must buy most of the tracks/cars separately. This is where cost can get out of hand.

I have a lot of fun with a pretty basic setup, however the sky is the limit as far as spending goes. But no matter how much you do end up spending, it will be a fraction of the cost of a trackday weekend.
u/liquidsnakex · 2 pointsr/playstation

For start, turn off any and all forms of auto-aiming where possible, as it's inconsistent in different games and really only helps if you're very casual and have blocks for hands. Start your aiming sensitivity on a lowish setting, then increase it by a notch every few games until you're at the highest one you can comfortably snipe with.

Also do yourself a favour and get yourself a pair of Xbone analogue stick caps and put them in your DualShock 4. It's very cheap and easy to do, sticks and instructions here:
https://www.amazon.com/Original-Black-Xbox-Controller-Analogue-Thumbsticks/dp/B00JQX91HU
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/DualShock+4+Analog+Stick+Covers+Replacement/22675

Say what you will about Microsoft, but they understand gamepad ergonomics far better than Sony do... the reason that the left stick is high on their controllers is because that's a more natural resting position for your thumb that causes less strain when pressing the stick forward for long periods of time, which is what you're doing in most games, most of the time. Getting Xbone caps won't give you that but it will give you the other smart little touches they added.

Look at this photo and note the differences between those sticks and the default ones:
http://i.imgur.com/SJCIyVB.jpg

Concaves: it's harder to pull something than to push it, and pulling something without a proper grip is even harder again. You get a proper grip by applying force perpendicular to the object you're pulling, not sliding parallel against the sides. The convex stick tops that Sony uses ensures that there's always a degree of sliding against it, which is obviously not as effective as getting a proper hold into a concave like you can in the Xbone sticks.

Ledge: there's also a hard "ledge" at the outer edge of the concave that makes sure your finger doesn't slip off the stick, as opposed to the soft bump that allows more slippage on Sony's sticks.

Textured edges: these are there to ensure that you have as much grip as possible while moving he stick up and down, as your thumb doesn't push/pull from directly below or above the stick, but off to the side at an angle. While Sony's sticks have a texture too, the softer blunt bumps found on it will never allow as much grip as the harder sharp texture on MS's sticks.

You're probably thinking these are tiny things that won't make a difference to your aiming, but in terms of ergonomics, those little things all work together to make a pretty big difference. Try the yoga mission in GTA V with both sets of sticks and it'll become very obvious which ones allow a better, more precise grip.

Logitech MOMO and DFGT are at or slightly below this price range, but they're two good ones. I've used a MOMO for close to a decade now and it's been a solid wheel. DFGT is superior to the MOMO in most ways except the MOMO has actual paddles instead of just buttons, if that's a big deal for you. DFGT is like 2x the cost of a MOMO though.

If you can save up another $100-$150, or wait for a sale, you could get a Thrustmaster TX or T300RS. They share the same base, and it's one of the best on the market (TX's wheel isn't the best, but it can be replaced). It's miles ahead of all the Logitech wheels (G27,Momo,DFGT) because it's a servomotor with a belt. Logitech wheels are geared which makes the FFB less precise, weaker, and gives them a "notchy" feeling.

IMO if you're looking for a low-cost wheel to test the waters or are new to racing, get a MOMO cause they're very cheap (~$80-$90, vs $150 for a DFGT) and good enough. The MOMO's low steering lock actually makes it well suited for F1 and other open wheel racing. If you are still playing a lot after a year or whatever, put the money you saved on getting the MOMO cheaply into getting a TX/T300RS.

Any Xbox compatible 3.5mm Jack headset can be used with the official Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter. They are about £16 ($20?) on Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Xbox-Stereo-Headset-Adapter/dp/B00I41H7US/). This plugs into the rectangular port on the bottom of the controller, and gives you mute, chat / game balance, and volume up / down buttons. It's very simple to use, and gives you full control over the volume balance for game and chat.

You can also get aftermarket pads from PDP, which have a 3.5mm socket for any Xbox compatible headset with a 3.5mm Jack, and they have a special dedicated button by the right thumb stick, which when double tapped, mutes the mic, and when held down, turns the D-Pad into a volume up / down and chat / game balance control.

This is what I use, and it is so easy to adjust game and chat volume on the fly, I'm actually surprised MS don't do something similar - it's such an intuitive way of doing it. One thing though, is that I don't know whether PDP do a wireless pad with this feature, (I'd have to google it) as the ones I've seen on Amazon are wired (as is mine). They are only about £35 / $40 or less though, and the cable means the controller is light, and never runs out of battery! :D

Edit - Had a look and can't find a wireless version, but this is the one I have, and I am very pleased with it, cable is nice and long, and fits securely. It feels a bit different to a regular controller, some things better, some things worse. The home button is much easier to use, but the triggers are flatter. Buy from Amazon with free delivery and try it? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Afterglow-Prismatic-Wired-Controller-Xbox-x/dp/B00ZJRHSRW/

u/smudi · 2 pointsr/simracing

Ahh nice. You should be able to get a pretty decent upgrade.

Thrustmaster is probably what you are going to want to be on the lookout for, since they have some nice stuff in the $3-400 range when it goes on sale. The other option would generally be a Logitech G29 or G920, but while being solid, arent really worth more than $200. The Thrustmaster stuff will be better overall.

To that note, check out this link at Amazon. This was the sale I mentioned above, although it is out of stock right now. It was a bundle of Pedals (roughly $100 if bought separately), a Shifter (roughly $130), the wheel base (roughly $200+), and a wheel rim (roughly $150) for ~$475. If you have heard the term insta-buy, this was it. I would check this every day or two to see if it comes back in stock.

Around BF, Thrustmaster will usually have a variety of deals on the T300. There are a variety of wheel rims it might come with, or a variety of pedals. I would highly recommend getting the pedal set with 3 pedals (clutch, brake, and throttle). The 2 pedal set (brake, throttle) is really low quality and just cheap plastic.

Few bundles include the shifter, so dont go out of your way looking for everything I mentioned in the bundle above. For a TM bundle, it will include the pedals, wheel, and rim for ~$3-400 depending on what exactly is included. The bundle above included a different rim than what normally comes with the wheel base, so it's up to you to figure out what you would be most interested in.

To give you an idea, this might be a good bundle that you might be interested in. Might be under $400 for BF. The bundle I listed above comes with a Ferrari branded rim while this is just a generic TM rim made with leather. Still high quality though and still better than the normal rim is usually sold.

This sort of stuff goes on sale at Amazon every so often, so keep an eye out before BF too.

That's the guy I am using right now. I literally bought it because I wanted to do FFB with FM6 and try out iRacing. I tried FM6 for a few hours and just couldn't get the feel down. The way it feels when your back end starts to lose it is just so wrong it makes it super difficult for me to handle. After that I bought Project Cars on PC and wow, it was a huge different. PC isn't a proper sim, but the FFB is great fun. iRacing is simply amazing.

Possibly part of the problem is I started doing weekly races at CXC Simulations in Los Angeles, and their iRacing setups are unbelieveably amazing.

u/Idoiocracy · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

Besides being more comfortable, the XB1's dpad is significantly better. For example, I couldn't wall jump in Super Metroid with the 360 controller, and was only able to get past that part when I got an XB1 controller.

On the other hand, I completed Dark Souls with the 360 controller and it was a great experience. So I would get this $25 360 pad if you're on a budget, otherwise for greater comfort and usable dpad, I'd prefer the $73 Xbox 1 controller.

u/undead_drop_bear · 1 pointr/xboxone

have you thought of just modding a regular controller?

i tried the elite controller but just wasn't a fan of how all the parts could come off, so i stick to a regular controller since they're way easier to replace and i love the bluetooth functionality. i use the x1 controller with the snes classic and emulators on my android devices and it works wonderfully.

i could understand if you got too used to the paddles though. i would have loved those when i was really into online fps a while ago.

If you're looking for cheap but good go for Power A. This is one of the few brands that can survive my kids. They usually have pretty good button feel for a cheaper alternative as well.

https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Enhanced-Wired-Controller-Xbox-One/dp/B07DHY6YLM/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=xbox+one+powera+controller&qid=1556031714&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Personally I use a micro USB cable with the standard Microsoft controllers. They are more expensive but they last longer and typical repairs (new thumbsticks and sensors) are actually cheap and easy to do.

u/Hotrian · 2 pointsr/Vive

You made me check around Amazon :P.

Very Interesting. Infact, you can get this Xbox One Controller + Cable for $37, though it seems to be the Old version. You can also get this Xbox One "Wireless" Controller for $46. The difference?
> - Now features a 3.5 millimeter stereo headset jack that lets you plug your favorite gaming headset right into the controller.
> - Now the controller can be updated wirelessly instead of needing to connect a USB cable.
> - Contents: Wireless Controller and AA Batteries (2)

So if you care about those things it will cost you $9 more :P. Though, some of the reviewers also say the Bumpers are better, they look exactly the same in the photo, though I think it's actually a render and not a photo, so maybe they are better? I actually have this controller in specific though I'm pretty sure it's the same as the old version as it doesn't have the 3.5mm port. I don't have any complaints with the bumpers, and after many months of frequent use they show no signs of wear (which some reviewers seem to complain about with the old version).

u/twalker294 · 2 pointsr/forza

The Thrustmaster TX is another option. I think it's a bit better quality than the Logitech and the feedback is better. It's a bit cheaper at $299 BUT the pedal set doesn't have a clutch. If you want the 3 pedal set it's another $150. I love my TX and I've replaced the standard wheel with the VG leather wheel (also $150,) and it feels great. You can also get the TX with the VG wheel and the 3 pedal set for $469 http://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Racing-Wheel-Leather-Premium-Official/dp/B0151K6FPC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1463535677&sr=8-2&keywords=thrustmaster+vg

There is also an addon H-pattern shifter available for $100. Yes you can spend a good bit of money on your setup but it's an absolute must for all but the most casual racing gamer.

u/EdBalboa · 1 pointr/xboxone

Please note the differences between the Thrustmaster TX and the TMX.
The one you want is definitely the TX , with swappable rims and pedals, and the optional 6 speed shifter.
I suspect most (some?) of the people mentioning the TMX are actually referring to the TX: https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Racing-Ferrari-xbox-one-Windows/dp/B00ENFVS5Y

Edit:
TMX and TMX Pro are the same entry tier wheel, except for the pedals (Pro has the 3 pedal model)

TX is the mid level THrustMaster wheel (swappable rims). You should add the 3TPA pedals to that.

By the way, have you played Project Cars? I am really interested in that one. How does is play on the Xbox? I know it is supposed to be better on the PS4 (which I do own), but I can only afford to buy one driving wheel right now.

Since GT7 won't be here for about another 15 months or more, I am playing Forza 6. So...if I buy the thrustmaster vg tx for use with my Xbox, I'll want to play Project Cars on the Xbox as well.

So...can the Xbox handle it, or not?

I don't know about Playstation controllers, but I use a 3rd party Xbox 360 controller that works well:

https://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-AX-1-Controller-Xbox-360-Blue/dp/B003ITY98O

If you prefer the feel of the Xbox one controller, they make it as well:

https://www.amazon.com/PDP-Afterglow-Prismatic-Wired-Controller-Xbox/dp/B00ZJRHSRW/ref=sr_1_1?srs=3038123011&ie=UTF8&qid=1483457064&sr=8-1&keywords=afterglow+controller+xbox+one

I personally like the Afterglow controllers because they're well built, proportioned correctly, and feel good in the hands. Also, the annoying glow effect can be disabled...there's a button on the back side that changes modes from on constantly, flashing /w rumble, or off completely.

u/stoneymason · 2 pointsr/xboxone

I bought a PowerA controller and while I like the ergonomics of it, the construction quality isn't the greatest. The A button started to stick after a short time and one of the bumpers started to misfunction. I had a super hard time getting it replaced through their customer service and eventually had to bitch at their twitter account to get a replacement one. Then the A button started to jam quickly on that one too. I was able to open it up and do some work and fix it, but that obviously isn't ideal.

I'd suggest just getting a new controller if you still have the option to at best buy until they improve their quality standards.

If you are looking for a decent cheap controller, I've heard good things about this one.

Yea it's a very common thread there, and you can't blame people, you'd expect better from a $150 controller than some flimsy parts and a 90 day warranty. Seems like people either love it or get a crappy one. It's what's kept me from getting one even though some of my friends rave about it

Also check Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ZDNNRB8/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

It is unfortunate that so many games now have such complex controls that it invariably ends up less accessible to people like us with mobility based disabilities.

One thing I would recommend, though it won't help with the games you've listed here as they're PS4 (or at least console) exclusives. Consider moving to PC gaming. I personally prefer console gaming, with PS4 being my system of choice, but the ability to change key-binding with PC makes it much more accessible. I'd also highly recommend this controller.

I originally had purchased an Elite Controller and had the same headache with hardware malfunctions and the nightmare that was dealing with Microsofts customer support and so called "warranty".
I wasn't as persistent as you are with your claim so they pretty much told me tough luck and that I would ultimately have to pay for repair or a new controller entirely.
That's when I had enough and started doing research on alternative "pro" style controllers.

Ended up going with a Razer Wildcat. Now this controller is not perfect, I experienced my share of hardware issues on this controller as well. The difference was the customer support was easy to communicate with and they support a 1 year warranty that covers "normal wear and tear". They ask you to walk through some trouble shooting steps but after that is done they send you a free shipping label to send the broken controller in which gets replaced with a brand new controller that arrives within a week or 2.
If you are fed up with the issues that come with the Elite controller, I would honestly recommend this one.

The way it fits in your hand, the responsiveness of the buttons, the range of operation, the number of different buttons it has, the battery life, the overall look and feel and the quality and it's $14.00 vs $50.00
https://www.amazon.com/Talon-Media-Remote-Control-Blu-ray-Streaming/dp/B01GOK34SO

Honestly, I have both. I had the cheap one for about a year then I "assumed" the $50.00 one was better so when I bought a 1X I bought the more expensive remote. After using it for about a year I went through my drawers until I found the cheap one I was using with my 1S and swapped. Now I am much happier. It's Amazon. Buy both and decide for yourself and return the one you don't want.

None of which might fit great now that the rubber on your controller is actually falling apart. Might require some hot glue or something else if you want them to stay in place.

A lot of people eventually switch to xbox style sticks, not just because the material doesn't fall apart but because it's actually a much better design. These compared to the DS4 sticks is night and day in terms of control and your thumb not sliding all over the place.

http://www.amazon.com/GAMING%C2%AE-Original-Xbox-Controller-Analogue-Thumbsticks/dp/B00JQX91HU/

Not that hard to install. Hardest thing about taking the controller apart is getting the shell separated for the first time and the fact that the triggers and springs might fall out, so just work on a clean table where you'll be able to find the little springs. Watch videos on how to take it apart.

u/ShtsGonaSplode · 12 pointsr/AndroidTV

I buy Sony TV's because I prefer the picture quality over the competition. Yesterday I ordered a Sony 65" X900F knowing full well that the Android TV experience is going to be complete garbage, just like it has been on my Sony 55" X850D.

As someone else mentioned, you can update the OS with a USB drive. But even with the latest Android OS my X850D still has a bloat-filled, laggy interface. Using ADB commands to clean it up has helped but it still lags.

I gave up on the Android TV experience over a year ago. My solution is to plug in an Xbox One X and use it with (THIS) remote. The combo of the Xbox and that remote makes the Xbox a fabulous media center. The Xbox houses all of my streaming apps (Hulu Live, HBO, Netflix, Amazon prime Video etc.) and has a very snappy/intuitive interface. And with the Xbox setup using HDMI ARC for TV and my surround sound, powering the Xbox on with the remote turns the TV/surround sound on and gives me full audio control over the surround sound. Turning the Xbox off with one click shuts everything else down as well.

With the above setup I haven't even seen the Android TV experience in over a year and honestly forget it's there.

With that said, you can accomplish essentially the same thing with the nVidia Shield, if you prefer that over Xbox. Just keep in mind that there is no Hulu Live app for Android TV, so if you use that for your live TV streaming (like I do), the nVidia Shield won't be a good solution for you.

If you can afford the exorbitant price of $150, the Xbox Elite Controller is downright amazing. It feels great, you can map any button to any other button, you can switch out dpads and thumbsticks, and it has a nice weight to it. comes with a really long USB cable too, and it works with the Xbox One Wireless Adapter if I'm not mistaken. I'm on Xbox and previously used bumper jumper. But I recently bought this and mapped the right paddle to jump and left for reload. I use puppeteer and switched the bumpers in the Xbox controller settings so melee is LB and grenade is RB. Now I can skate/jump pretty well, shadestep/slide/TG, aim my super better, and melee quickly after firing.

Really the only downside is I can't wombo combo (smoke/grenade) too fast or else I'll activate my super.

u/jonnyd005 · 0 pointsr/buildapcsales

Have you owned the Afterglow Controller? I'd be curious how they compare. I just bought this controller and it's so much better than the original xbox one controller. The build quality is amazing, the buttons, bumpers, and triggers all feel far superior to me.

u/FEARthePUTTY · 1 pointr/simracing

I definitely think you could get a quality wheel for $300. The nice thing about Thrustmaster is that you can buy them from other retailers, such as Amazon, Walmart, Gamestop, Best Buy, etc.

I know I was watching this T300 w/ Alcantara because it fell to $300 in December of 2016. Similarly, this TX w/ leather wheel dropped to $300 in November 2016.

I use this one from PowerA.

Quality wise I am satisfied. Sure it doesn't feel quite as good as an official one but it is fine. The sticks feel good. The triggers do have a cheap feel, for the price I don't notice.

Compatibility will be a hit or miss I think. Mostly it just works and is recognized as an Xbox pad. Steam works. It is all about the device IDs. If you can find a way to edit the reported USB device ID to the offical pad it would function exactly the same way.

I don't know about with emulators. I have had just one game not recognize the controller and that is Dirt Rally. The fix is to add my pads ID to the inputconfiguration.json in the game files. Surely other games would have this issue but not many.

I haven't really had a chance to try it yet but I can let you know how it goes if you like, I really bought it so I could try out the extra buttons before spending big on one of the big brands. It does feel kind of cheap to be honest and I don't think it will be a main controller for anyone who plays a lot ... but just to try out the extra buttons it should be ok............ I think!

That tmx wheel is pretty entry level wheel and pedals are horrible and no clutch.

I recommend to go atleast t300rs or tx but those also have poor pedals. But you can buy tx base + rim + better thrustmaster pedals.

Something like this:

t300 and tx are belt driven wheels and those are much smoother than new logitech wheels wich are basicly old g27 wheels with new colors.

I would add Eventghost to the list (based on Phyton), with that you can automate some tasks (example.... if this exebutable is opened do this and that or else..... if this window is focused or non focused do this or that and stuff like that).

As for the remote, I would recommend you the non official "Xbox Remote" from PDP (Performance Designed Products) with combination of FLIRC USB, that mentioned remote even has "motion backlit" for all the buttons (white) just like "keyboard backlits" but the difference is that the "lights" turns off on itself after some seconds if you dont move your remote which ofc saves your battery:

One thing I should mention about this remote is that you need to be careful because the case can easy wear out if you dont treat it well (avoid water, fluids in general and everything will be fine).

What a deal

Edit: but in all honesty the title on the Dell page is "Dell - Hard drive - 36 GB - hot-swap - 3.5-inch - SAS - 15000 rpm - for Dell PowerEdge 2950 (3.5-inch)" which this is not a HDD unless the controller has some flash storage or huge updates.

Edit#2: Well Amazon has a decent amount of 1 star reviews which may steer people away from these controllers.

u/a_bit_dull · 2 pointsr/CompetitiveForHonor

Best controller? I'd definitely say the xbox one elite because of the paddles on the back. You could also just get a battery pack that has paddles. They're a lot cheaper, and work with your existing controller.

The paddles are important because they allow you to keep your thumb on the right analog stick. I switched from controller to MKB in open beta because I didn't like the idea of having to move my thumb to GBC, dodge, or feint.

I'm not sure about best controller settings. You definitely want to lower your dead zone setting to probably 5. Someone might be able to recommend good controller settings.

Honestly it's now around 10/10 australian hot in here, I have got no more biscuits left and my dog has fallen asleep on my foot and it's beyond asleep (the foot and the dog to equal parts). These are very basic and I would go for either EVGA, seasonic or corsair for the psu. Optical drive you probably won't need, unless you plan to convert your VHS to dvd and then to convert them to digital you rip them with the drive (too hot to think). OS you don't need to worry about, just get win8.1 64bit. Wireless adapter, because screw having a ethernet cable running through your living room, also simpler to setup.

Edit 3: I would get an Xbox one controller, http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Controller-Play-Charge-Kit-Xbox/dp/B00CMQTUY2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420187632&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+one+controller, they are an actual improvement on the X360 controllers, in my opinion, and feel more solid and well constructed. Plus the buttons clickity click, which could potentially make up for the lack of mechanical keyboard.

Edit 4: This build is cheaper and doesn't feature overclocking potential, honestly I would still go for the first build, or something similar, simply having the option of going oc later down the road, should you ever need more raw power, is earily worth the little bit you pay more

Do not, and I mean DO NOT, get a Scuf controller. They are overpriced and breaks insanely quickly. You'll be lucky to last even a couple months with one.

Razer are an okay product. I don't particularly like them. They are popular only in name alone, imo.

I'd say, even if you don't run Windows 10, still go for the X1 Elite controller. The default button mapping is fine and it's the only controller in the market that feels genuinely premium and will last at least a year.

Man, I was super stoked to hear about a controller that had mechanical switches for its buttons, but the reviews on Amazon indicate poor build quality/quality control with a high rate of dead/stuck bumpers/joysticks/triggers/etc, and controllers breaking after only a few days or weeks of use. Thanks a ton for the recommendation though, I am definitely adding this one to my list of controllers to look out for. But for now, I continue on my quest to find something better...

You might be interested in knowing that most analogue pots (the things that the analog joysticks are put onto) are reverse compatible with other analog sticks.

That is to say, if you have a controller you prefer for hand feel, and another you prefer for analogue stick feel, odds are you can buy the analogue joysticks online and swap 'em out. It's like eight screws, and they pop right off.

On this Amazon page, you can see someone replaced the PS4 joysticks with the XBox One joysticks.

My 360 controller's joystick broke, and I replaced with the joystick from a Duke. It works!

u/Dlark121 · 1 pointr/RocketLeague

no worries fam just grab one of these and you can play with one hand. you can remap any button fuction anywhere and there are 4 paddles on the back (two on the right) so the only issue might be using the left stick for looking but no one does that anyways. Also chat might be difficult but hey thats what rehab is for.

Have you read all of the reviews on amazon? Is the 90 day warranty true? $150 is a little steep when you consider that the Xbox 1 is selling for under 200 used with a controller. I'd guess the price drops later this year, and definitely next.

Use an Xbox One Elite Controller.

Got one when they released, just feels right now. It doesn't actually help at all with CS:GO, I only use two paddles, one is assigned to push to talk, and the other to inspect, which is why I'm inspecting all the time. I just always have my finger on the paddle.

https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Elite-Wireless-Controller/dp/B00ZDNNRB8/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1524657847&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=xbox+elite+controlller

Really overpriced, but again, I just like how to feels. It's extra weighty, and the leather grips feel nice.

u/SigmaTheDJ · 1 pointr/xbox

Xbox One controllers made by Microsoft all work as both wired and wireless controllers.

My guess is that the $20 one you saw is a third party one, like this one made by PowerA which looks almost identical to a Microsoft one: -

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Enhanced-Wired-Controller-Xbox-One/dp/B07DHY6YLM/

All third party controllers are wired only, as MS doesn't allow companies to license the Xbox Wireless technology when it comes to controllers.

u/nighttim · 1 pointr/blackops3

I didnt spend 300. I bought scuf extended domed sticks ($13) and scuf grips and trigger stops ($25) and installed them on my controller that came with the console. ($0). So $28 for a better preforming controller (In my mind at least). Debating on wether or not to get paddles for around $50 and installing them. $78 for a homemade Scuf is a lot better than 300 IMO.

u/Aglorius3 · 2 pointsr/skyrimmods

Wireless KBM is probably what I would end up doing.

But really I was considering getting one of these for my controller, if it worked for Skyrim hotkeys. I haven't had a chance to read up on it yet.

Have never tried playing Skyrim via controller or on big screen, because I need muh hotkeys, and Dragons Dogma is unplayable via KBM, imo (the UI nav is ridiculous, to say the least), so was looking for a solution to play both from my couch with a controller, for funsies.

Also, was finally checking out the Lock On mod the other day. Looks like it'd be great for couch warrior, joystick combat.

Force Feedback, and the ability to upgrade to a stick shift and/or 3 pedals. $286 USD. Normally $400.

u/Kosire · 2 pointsr/blackops3

If you're on Xbox get the Xbox One Elite, not a SCUF. It comes stock with all the customization options that would cost you over $200 to upgrade to with a SCUF.

Unless you value cosmetic customization more, then SCUFs are great.

This is the one I use. I got mine at my local Walmart for like $4 cheaper but they’re the same thing. The downsides of it are it has to be plugged in all the time (it comes with a 10ft cord) and I can’t figure out any of the other things it does lol

It’s supposed to be able to a whole bunch of stuff, but I just use it for the paddles.

Edit: I forgot to add that sometimes my friends complain about static or feedback coming from my mic, but I just unplug and re-plug it in, and it fixes it.

Since I run TTR via Steam, I use Controller Companion with it, which is an app for Steam. I've tried others, but unlike most other software, Controller Companion can actually bind the Xbox Home button to something.

Regardless of which software you use, however, if you haven't gotten it already, I highly recommend this little adapter for your controller, because with it you can type from the controller as well. Therefore, fully replacing your mouse and keyboard with the controller.

You can get the Microsoft one that has a lot more features and an extra mic for $30, or you can get an Ortz chatpad that has less features and is $25. I really like my Microsoft one. You can map keys to do certain things, like pull up the friends list or take a game clip in the push of a button. There's a lot of complaints on Amazon about the Microsoft one but I've never had a problem.

Why isn't Cortana available in your geographical location? I didn't know that was region specific.

The PS3 and Xbox have special media remotes for them that look and operate just like normal remotes.

I think the Xbox One even has infrared so you can literally use any universal remote on it.

Dedicated Blu-ray players are just trash, they often run Java on weak hardware and never get software updates despite talking to the internet. They're frankly a vulnerability. Sure you may find a good one among hundreds but why bother when an Xbox is so cheap and you already have one.

I reccomend getting a Power A Mini Controller if you need a smaller controller. The Power A stuff is pretty durable and inexpensive also all of their wired controllers have break away cables.

I've been using a Power A Fusion Pro Controller for over a year. It's a wired "elite" style pro controller. I've got nerve issues with my right hand so I needed a controller with back buttons. it's this kind of low level hardware, i wouldn't advise you to buy one as the buttons are too small and the gameplay impossible on this. PDP has the upcoming Talon Media Remote coming that has D-Pad and A, B, X, Y functionality as well as a number of other buttons not available on the OEM remote. Answering your question: PowerA makes a decent wired Xbox One controller. Amazon.co.uk link

Fixing the issue: Have you tried a different USB cable or port? There's a chance that the port you are plugging into cannot supply enough voltage to power the controller and operate the vibration motors simultaneously.

Additionally, you could just turn off the vibration and see if that helps.

u/Rapt0rRed · 2 pointsr/Neverwinter

Bonus content is an in-game "Supply Drop" which are usually earned for leveling up. They give you random cosmetics items and guns/attachments.

That's unfortunate....I really like the thing.

This thing also has the buttons: https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Chatpad-Chat-Headset-plugs-directly/dp/B0136JPA56 ...but it's bulkier, and the main buttons you'd want are smaller.

Here is a Razor wired controller that is similar to the elite, at only 83$ it’s actually really nice. https://www.amazon.com/Wildcat-eSports-Customizable-Premium-Controller-Programmable/dp/B0177G3QV4

I would say that these are your best bet. It's going to be tough to find an actual custom controller for that price.

It's fabulous. Hibernation is greatly underrated.

The sticks I bought cost more than I remember... I'm not sure if they went up or I can't math.

Here's the link anyway. (I'm on mobile so I hope it works.)

Flattered, but I just use a normal Xbox One controller:

Also, didn't downvote you, was busy playing Cities: Skylines.

Yes. The Titanfall one is out of stock in most places now, but you can still find it here:

The Call of Duty one will be sold seperately at most retailers, but is $5 cheaper at Amazon than everywhere else:

This one is WAAAAY better and only costs $20.

I find the pdp officially licensed even better as the battery life lasts longer.

I’ve had much better results with this one. Buttons still light up and it has more functions to boot.

My Favorites are the Xbox 360 controller and the Xbox One. Those two work with every game and the buttons show up correctly since both Windows and Xbox are made by Microsoft.
