I've been using one of these for about a year now, similar situation.

It hasn't been perfect but fairly reliable. I've had to remote into the device itself a couple times to reboot it. Even then its better than the ancient desktop that was dedicated for it when I started here.

make microblaze processor system... you have vga... sd memory card. and audio, use fpga bram for processor memory , push buttons ...may be ipod type system🤓

or use their ethernet 10/100g expansion module...implement telnet type control.

this board is good for college first course of digital design, to give students fpga design experience
but i think other fpga board vendors have better options
