Alright, first...Happy Early Birthday!!!

Now on to face things.

Skincare

First of all you should check out r/skincareaddiction. Even if you don't want to join the community the FAQ is great.

What I do for my normal/oily skin is every morning and every night I wash with CeraVe Foaming Face Wash which is recommended for oilier skin. So you might want to check that out.

Every 3 days or so I exfoliate with Epicuren which is just from my mom's shop but it's a nice deep scrubs without being too abrasive. You don't want abrasive like with say St. Ive Apricot scrub because you're actually tearing your skin and that's just not very nice. You want to gently exfoliate.

Once a week I use a LUSH face mask. My favorite is Love Lettuce because it's refreshing and exfoliating. Second favorite is definitely Cupcake. I feel so clean and bright after it.

Wipe off your makeup before you go to bed. It's bad for your skin and bad for your sheets. Whatever you do to take it off, just get it off. I use vaseline. It's cheap and easy on my sensitive skin.

Clean your brushes. Clean them. Seriously. What I do is after every makeup application I get a tissue and something with and edge like the edge of my dresser and I wipe the brush over the tissue over the edge to get all the excess makeup out. Then every 2 weeks I do a deep clean. Get a bar of some kind (towel rack, clothes hanger) and rubber bands. Get some warm, running water, and either some baby shampoo or some brush cleaner (though honestly I just use shampoo) and wet your brushes, bristles pointing downwards always. You don't want to get water trapped inside the little metal/plastic attaching ring thingy. Add a dot of shampoo to your hand and swish that brush around. It'll be gross. Good. You'll always remember to do it now that you know how gross your brushes get. Rinse bristles down. Dry bristles down by wrapping the rubber band around the handle and attaching to your rod/hanger.

Makeup

This is what I cannot live without

  1. Naked Basics. This is the best $27 I have ever spent in my life. I use it every single friggin day. All of the colors are perfect neutral mattes from lightest light to darkest dark. I even use one of the colors to fill my eyebrows. It's perfect.

  2. Wet n Wild Liquid Liner. I've become a liquid liner addict. It really helps make it look like I have eyelashes. The brush is very firm and very thin so I always end up with a line where I want it.

  3. Urban Decay 24/7 glide on liner in Smoke. I have very light eye lashes. So I tight line.. Trust me. You want to tight line.

  4. Clump Crusher I love this mascara. It really is non-clumping and while it doesn't give me the longest lashes in the world it makes them look fuller because there's no clumps.

  5. Smashbox BB Cream. This is just the BB cream I use. It does what all the BB creams do but I happen to match the 'Fair' color very well.

  6. Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This shit smells like chocolate. I'm not even joking. I'm new to bronzer, but it's perfect for my skin tone.

  7. Sephora Blush. I'm still learning about blushes but I like that this one is matte. I'm not a sparkle face girl.

  8. Lipstick. I have too many to choose. See this comment I did where I swatch and rated every lipstick I have.

  9. E.L.F eye shadow primer You need primer. No. You need it.

    Makeup For You

So if you're just starting out again you don't want to go spending a stupid amount of money before you figure out what you like. So here are my suggestions for you specifically.

  10. Eyeshadow. Now if you can afford it, I highly recommend Urban Decay Naked Basics. But that's $27. So in lieu of that I suggest you get some Wet n Wild Eyeshadows. Maybe this one or this one.

  11. Eye shadow primer. Go to target and find the ELF section and get primer. It's a dollar and it will make your eye shadow amazing. No reapplying no smudging no creasing. Just perfect perfect eyes. It comes in other colors too, you may want to get a shade darker if you want to match your skin tone.

  12. Eyeliner. I would say get a pencil in either black or dark brown. I don't know if liquid liner is right for your eye shape but if you want to give it a go then you do whatever you want; it's your face.

  13. Eyelashes. Get a lash curler. Two to three curls and you should be good. I'd say black mascara for you.

  14. Eyebrows. I'm not an eyebrow expert but you're probably going to want to shape and fill in your eye brows (unless you love them just the way they are). For shape I'd go to a professional first before you wax at home or go plucking away. Then for filling in you can just use an eyebrow kit. Although I've heard complaint that dark eyebrows are the hardest to find a matching color for :(

  15. BB Cream. I hear Etude house kicks butt and it won't break your bank.

  16. Concealer. I love Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Concealer it's awesome. You want to blend that stuff too, don't just dot it on.

  17. Blush. I think maybe a peachy blush but pictures don't always show stuff right for skin tone so maybe you need pink. I can't really tell.

  18. Bronzer. You've got great cheek bones. I would skip this for now. Unless you're super gungho in which case: I'd check out The Balm.

  19. Lipstick. Cheap and amazing lipstick is NYX and I think a nice natural shade would look great on you. But seriously, if you live near an ulta, nyx is like $3.99-$5.99 for lipstick. It's amazing. Or everyone goes gaga for these Etude House Bunny Glosses.

Anyway, I think you look really great and that's the best start is being confident and having a natural beauty. Also I love your hair. But if you have any questions just let me know :)

Oh bananas!!! You're so freaking sweet!!! I'm so happy you chatted with all of us last night, it was so fun!

Here are my go to's in my collection (Also, all Korean cosmetic links are to BeautynetKorea (where the shipping is free) or RoseRoseShop (where it's cheap), and all others are from Amazon. But shop around before ordering just in case!):

  • Etude House Goodbye Pore Ever primer OR Too Faced Primed and Poreless primer - Both primers are wonderful and really help even out my skin tone! I feel that Etude House minimizes my pores better, but the Too Faced primer is pigmented, so it offers more coverage. Both are matte when you put them on!

  • Nature Republic's By Flower BB Cream - I LOVE THIS STUFF. Hands down it's my Holy Grail BB. It was a perfect color match for me, evened out my skin tone, and didn't melt away during the day! It had some great staying power and smelled nice and light as well. I have an oily t-zone, and it really stayed quite nicely compared to my other makeup! For reference, I used shade 2 for mine, and I'm an N5 in MAC Studio Fix powder.

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay powder blush in Dollface OR MAC powder blush in Fleur Power - Both of these blushes are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES. They're both kind of pinky colors, with Dollface being more of a "Barbie pink" with blue undertones, and Fleur Power a bit more "dusty rose". They both go on so naturally and beautiful, and have wonderful saying power. (Though be careful with Tarte's, if you have a heavy hand it might go on waaay too much, haha!)

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder - This is my holy grail item, no question about it. This powder really mattifies my oily face and helps my makeup last so much longer before the first signs of shine appear. I can even dust it on halfway through the day to re-mattify everything!

  • Covergirl Lineblast 24 hour liquid eyeliner - This is my favorite liquid liner I've tried! The applicator is nice and small, so it's easy to maneuver and SO much easier to make winged liner than a brush. It stays all day long, too!

  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara - This mascara makes my lashes stand out, look natural, and it helps keep the volume all day as well!

  • Tonymoly Petit Bunny Gloss Bar in Neon Orange - The bar is nice and lightly orange scented, and adds just enough orange tint to your lips to make them pop! On me personally, the orange kind of mixes with my natural lip color and gives them more of a natural coral color.

  • MAC lipstick in Mocha - This is my "perfect for every outfit" lipstick. It looks great when I dress up, and can give more of a polished look for my day to day as well!

  • Tarte Matte Lipsurgence in Exposed - It's a very similar color to MAC Mocha, but this has a matte finish! Plus is makes my lips tingly and almost minty when I put it on!

  • NYX Matte Lipstick in Perfect Red - Straight up, this is my perfect red. It has cooler/ more blue undertones than most other reds I've tried, and it looks absolutely beautiful!

  • Nivea Lip Butter - I wear this stuff religiously when I go to bed, it's perfect for moisturizing my lips at night so they're soft the next day! Also, it gives a cute shine if I don't feel like wearing any colored lip product during the day.

Shoot, I hope that wasn't too much, I just have a lot of favorites!! xD

So as a makeup lover and a cat lady (seriously check out my username), I definitely know of a few things that I think would be nice gifts for your roommate.

Tarte came out with a Sex Kitten Palette that was limited edition, so their website and Ulta are sold out, but Amazon still has some.

Tarte also came out with a matching Sex Kitten Eyeliner with a cute little cat head on the lid.

TONYMOLY has a Cat Stick Balm that is a little weird looking, but still cute, and I've used before and it's really nice.

TONYMOLY also has the cutest Cat Wink Compact that is a decent setting powder inside the cutest cat faced compact. Bought this for my friend and she just loved it!

There's always Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette that is cat-themed, even though there are no physical pictures or depictions of cats. Also the quality on this is really nice.

J.Cat Beauty has a really cute cat blush+bronzer duo that I've never tried before, but it's so cheap that I'd say its worth checking out.

Holika Holika makes cat blush+highlight and here's a different shade available. I love these!

Winky Lux has a very nice kitten palette that I've been wanting to try.

Sugar Pill makes an eyeshadow called Kitten Parade that I just adore.

Sugar Pill also came out with the Feline Fancy palette which was LE and is sold out, but there are some on eBay if you really wanted it.

And the last I can think of is Paul + Joe. They have so many limited edition collections, so they have released a lot of cat themed items I'm sure you could scour for on eBay, but they do still have some left on their website. First is this really nice makeup bag.

They also have this beautiful empty compact that their eye trios fit perfectly into.

The ever so adorable and famous cat shaped lipstick bullet refill that fits into any of their empty lipstick holders. Might I recommend this one?

And if you really wanted to treat your roommate to something special (and very expensive), eBay has a lot of brand new, LE cat makeup pieces that are to die for.

Hope this was of help to you! Happy shopping :)

Posted this on other account but it got moderated, had a bad word OOPS :(

I'm going to be blunt but it's in your best interests. This may also be long.

I don't think you have a large head as someone else has said, and there is nothing wrong with a square shaped head, it is not exclusively a masculine shape. In fact I see quite soft features when I look at you, which certainly would be improved and amplified with HRT.

The wig - It is very obvious and I would not recommend wearing it out in its current state. Depending on finances, you can do incredible things with hair extensions with just 4 inches of hair, which for most people is about 8-12 months of growth from a buzz cut.

Extensions - Depending on finances, as I said with 4 inches of hair or more you can get incredible extensions from a salon, they know how to make them look great (check reviews for your area though).

A cheaper option is clip in extensions, for a full head I recommend no less than 230 grams including the clips at about a 20" length. These can also be clipped in to very short hair an example video being here. I have only 2" of hair on back and sides and about 6" of hair on the top and using this method I get a flawless finish, I curl the top length of my hair and the extensions so they blend a little easier. This will also depend on your hairline but there are hairstyles you can use with extensions to cover that as well, and they look much more natural.

Makeup - I'm going to be very blunt in saying everything about it is wrong. Wrong shade, wrong tone, wrong finish and application.

Wrong shade - Your makeup is way too dark and it definitely makes you look like you're wearing a mask.
Wrong tone - Though hard to tell with pictures it looks like it is a yellow based foundation, so a warm tone (or cool tone if you go by macs definitions). Your skin to me looks pink based, so cool toned but I would never recommend a cool toned foundation to anyone so you should look for something in neutral tones to be safe.

Finish and application - You have applied it way too thick over your entire face, and the finish is too shiny, it is highlighting on ALL the wrong places to highlight.

How to fix it!!! :D

For beard cover I recommend Maybelline Dark Circles Eraser in probably the shade 'light'. I use this personally myself and it is incredible at covering beard, as it has a slight orange tone that does not require heavy foundation to cover but does neutralize the blue tones in beard shadow. It is a liquid concealer and doesn't look too heavy on the skin. I apply a layer all over with the sponge tip applicator and powder over it before putting foundation on (I will recommend a powder shortly). This product also works great for its original purposes as an under eye concealer :D. You may want to eventually buy a second in the shade 'fair' to give a little under eye highlight.

IF you find this and foundation are not quite enough cover, as I don't on some days where I have especially dark shadow (perfect contrast to my pale skin) I will use the Nyx Dark Circle Concealer in Medium underneath the maybelline concealer just to enhance the orange tones slightly, it is very sheer however and does not provide coverage on its own, it is purely to add more orange tones.

Foundation - I use Loreal True Match and for you I would recommend the shade N2, obviously test this in store to make sure you get the right shade as I am only going off photos.

I would apply this over the powdered beard area with fingers and a dabbing motion, kind of gently slapping your face with two fingers, this gives the best coverage. For the rest of the face I recommend a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge as this gives a lighter coverage and a nice texture. Once your beard coverage foundation has has a few seconds to set, you can also bounce this over it lightly to adjust the texture in that area.

Powder - I use Rimmel Stay Matte in Transparent. For a pressed powder it's quite fine and doesn't add any coverage (less cake), however it will ELIMINATE that shine on your face!

Some additional things you aren't doing as far as I can tell are blush and contouring, I love Nyx Powder Blush in Mocha for blush and Nyx Powder Blush in Taupe for contouring. They are both lightly pigmented making them hard to muck up, the mocha is not overly pink and in-your-face and the taupe is perfect for contouring as it is not orange and is very neutral. You will find 1 million and 1 YouTube tutorials on how to do both of these things properly.

The final thing I can say is you're muting your lips out and making them almost invisible with your foundation, buy some lipstick to fix that, and you can always overdraw the middle of your top and bottom lips slightly with a lip liner, but be sure to go over your whole lip if you do this, you dont want to be left with those lines if your lipstick wears off. :D

I know this is a long post, but if even one bit of information is able to help you, or somebody else it's all worth it. If you have any questions feel free to PM me, I usually check this account once per day :)

I linked the products you can buy in the US easily below.

  • Canmake: You can find Canmake everywhere in Japan and it is very affordable. The glosses were around 650¥ (~$6) and the blushes were around 500¥. The quality is really good; I bought a bunch of backups of the glosses. Their packaging is adorable but I just didn’t find many of their products appealing for myself, I think they are for a younger audience. I did pickup a couple eye shadow quads for my younger cousins. I can link photos if interested, I didn’t add to this album since I wasn’t going to swatch them)

your lips only gloss #02 These glosses are super comfortable, they feel more like lip oils. This gloss changes to the “perfect soft pink” and has a little bit of glitter in it, #1 is the same shade but doesn’t have glitter in it.

your lips only gloss #03 This gloss changes to a darker pink and doesn’t have glitter in it.

    Cream cheek #15

    Cream cheek #CL05
  • Opera: Found very easily in stores. More expensive than Canmake, these gloss sticks were 1200¥. These sheer lip colors are very sheer and natural looking.

Sheer lip color, #203 pink apricot

Sheer lip color, #22 natural pink

  • ettusais: these lip crayons are really hydrating and have SPF in them which is great for spring and summer.

    Creamy lip crayon, PK 2

    Creamy lip crayon, OR 2

Chifure: Their lipsticks were very affordable (300¥) but the lipsticks don’t come with a case, which I didn’t realize. When I was shopping at other makeup stores I tried finding this brand so I could buy a case, but I couldn’t find it so I don’t think this brand is as easy to find as others.

    Lipstick #517

Stylenanda: I believe this is a Korean clothing brand, their makeup brand is called 3ce. They have a store in Harajuku on Takeshita Street. This store is really busy and you have to ask a employee to get the products you want to buy (which seemed to be common in higher-end makeup shops) so shopping here can take some time.

Matte lip color #909 Smokey Rose

    Pot Eye shadow- Baby Latte
    Eye shadow trio- Lemmesee

  • Esprique

    Glow cheek, PK-2 Sweet Pink

    Shadows: BR 303, BR 304, OR 201, BE 311

  • Majolica Majorca: owned by Shiseido and is pretty easily found very easily in stores, it is also very affordable. There packaging is really cute but like Canmake, I think it is intended for a younger audience so I didn’t find much I wanted.

    Shadow, BE 286

  • Paul & Joe: found in most department stores. I also saw a lot of their accessories (wallets, bags, etc) in a bunch of stores in the malls.

    Eye colour limited 005

*Etude House: I believe they are also a Korean brand. Their largest location is in Harajuku on Takeshita Street across from

Stylenanda. I believe they have other locations around Japan. They’re prices are also really affordable and their international shipping is pretty reasonable as well.

Hello fellow makeupaddictioner!! I'm OBSESSED with makeup and hair so you're in luck, lol!

First things first: Makeup!
For a very natural, professional, and simple makeup look these are my go to essentials:

  • foundation any type that suits your fancy! My personal favorite is Bare Minerals because it gives a super matte, flawless finish that looks like your skin with minimal effort. I literally just dip my brush in, dust off the excess and swipe that bitch on my face...lol

  • concealer only if you need it/have time. I only do it half the time...lol

  • bronzer I use this just to warm up my face after I apply foundation. Sometimes when you apply foundation it can cause your face to look very flat and one dimensional. Applying bronzer to all of the areas that would naturally get sunlight gives your face depth and dimension.

  • Simple Neutral Eyeshadow No need to get fancy here just a simple neutral eyeshadow will do the trick :) I don't even use multiple colors just one color I like.

  • Blush I apply just a small amount on the apples of my cheeks. My personal favorite is Elf blush in Berry Merry.

  • Mascara I'm sure you know all about mascara!

  • Chapstick I like to use chapstick rather than an actual color when I'm going with a no makeup makeup look.

I think these essentials are perfect for the professional world. The makeup isn't overbearing and it gives you the appearance that all you had to do was wake up and wash your face... that you woke up flawless which I think is infinitely more effective/professional/approachable than piling on tons of makeup.

    Here are some links:

  • Foundation

  • Concealer

  • Bronzer

  • Eyeshadow

  • Blush

  • Mascara

  • Chapstick

Also, here is a tutorial! I really like her and it's very simple and something I would do everyday not just for traveling :)

Now onto Hair... Are you still with me?? lol.

Here are my three favorite "Professional" hairstyles:

  • The Sock Bun

  • The Chignon

  • Ponytail

I think all of these hairstyles will work great with thin hair! Especially the Chignon and the Ponytail!

Here are the tutorials (All for thin hair):

  • The Sock Bun

  • The Chignon

  • Ponytail

I hope you found this really helpful! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask :) I love helping!!

    Bonus - Hair Accessories:

  • Sock Bun Helper

  • Hair Cuff

  • Headband

  • Another Headband

  • Peacock Barrette

    The End! lol :)

    Edit: I'm bad at words.

hello, hello! And welcome, welcome!! (I swear I don't always speak doubly like that haha)
I am agreeing with ilessthanthreepugs when I say it really is the nicest sr I have found. Almost too nice for me probably lol
But I hope you love it as much as we do.
As someone who doesn't have a lot of product yet, I will recommend a bb cream. Since you're starting out, I will give you my first bb cream because though it's not an Asian one which I have now learned I absolutely LOVE, I do love this drugstore one too.
If you do have money to spend, I would recommend this one

BB creams are perfect for beginners, with a great mascara and cream blush.

The cream blushes I use are by L'Oreal I think ? And definitely Urban Decay

My favorite mascaras right now (I am always searching for new ones haha) are

(Part 2/2)

Face:

Foundation - Nars, Giorgio Armani, L'Oreal, and Elf cosmetics (Elf is one of the cheapest and best drugstore foundation out there!) have really good ones!!! ...If you want something that makes you glow, get a sheer coverage foundation ...apply primer under and then some liquid highlight before applying the foundation - trust me, you will glow!!!

Concealer - Nars is the best or you can even try another drugstore holy grail that is cheaper by Maybelline to hide scars, breakouts or dark circles.

Blush - Milani has some really good blushes! So does Sephora brand or Makeup Forever.

Highlighter - this will definitely make you glow whenever the light touches your face!!!! Hahah, MAC and Anastasia Beverley Hills has amazing highlights. Wet N Wild also has very cheap highlights for like $3-5 that are blindingly glowing if you spray some MAC fix plus on your brush and then go in with the highlighter!

Makeup tools:

Really good to have some starter ones to practice with and they make your makeup look better + you waste less makeup.

Elf cosmetics and Real Techniques has some amazing starter brushes... the eyeshadow brush set and the face brush set by Real Techniques is really good for the low price you make for it!

Perfume: Definitely go to Sephora and try out every one of them (sometimes Amazon has sales on luxury perfumes for less!).

Fashion: ASOS, Forever 21, Mango & Target has some really cute pieces of clothing. Check Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration!!! :)

Other: Get the men's Gillette razor has the other person mentioned!!! It is bomb! Haha... I use conditioner or coconut oil down there when I shave.... it's better than shaving cream and it prevents the itching and stuff! lol For legs, I use Nair Hair Remover Lotion (Amazon usually sells 3 a pack for like $15 - really cheap!!!) or Gilette shaving cream for women! Also, don't do this always ...it can damage your teeth, but once in awhile, it won't hurt your teeth... take baking soda and water, make a paste and brush your teeth with it... your teeth will have that instant whitening effect. Don't do this always, but you can definitely do this when you do to those fancy occasions and you gotta make your teeth look sparkling white! lol, works like a charm! :)

Hope that helps!

Friends are lame sometimes but then I remember that I really love lazing around at home watching New Girl on Netflix, wearing athletic shorts with built in underwear (the summer equivalent of yoga pants, my friend) and eating spicy jalapeño chips that give me dragon breath.
I'm new to lipstick so I don't have a favorite purple, but here's a purple lippie that I think looks pretty!

Hope you have a very relaxing night :)

This is <$5.

Any color would look fab on you, but I think brunette would be the most flattering. I think a cut like this would look really great (though you might want to go a darker brown).

Thanks for the contest! I have super dry skin, so I've really been wanting to try a cream blush. Share pics after Saturday! :)

Edit: Said "flattering" too many times.
Edit 2: Forgot to say rainbow! Man. I'm not with it today :/

I cannot give enough praise to NYX Cream Blush in "Glow". It's a lovely formula that gives a nice, natural flush to the skin. I have oily skin and it lasts alllll day without looking patchy or breaking up. The product is easy to blend out, so you won't go overboard! The price is great, too!

Here is Amazon's listing for it. I love the way it's listed on there because you get to see the product on women of varying skin tones. :)

Is it safe to buy from Amazon sellers so long as they have good product ratings and feedback? I want to buy Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV, Baby Pink Mineral BB Cream, Cosrx Good Morning Gel Cleanser, and Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher. Help much appreciated!

You, m'lday, are a genius! What a great idea. I will definitely be going through this thread to beef up my wishlist :)

My #1 under five would def be this It has free shipping! Then any color of these because they are way too cute!! And finally this because messing up mascara after doing your whole face is too darn frustrating!

This L'Oreal Blush! I love blushes, they add life to your cheeks and makes you look alive! Blush was invented to show the opposite sex that we're alive and that we're fertile. (Don't know if that is true, learned that in science class). But anyway it completes my whole look and this blush I have been lusting after for a year now. And it's only $5 on Amazon compared to $8-9 in stores!

I believe Elf has 2 cream blush palettes that look really nice, I've been wanting to try those. I really like a lot of Asian brands for cream blushes though, a lot more options and a variety of colors. This one from Tonymoly is really lovely, I also like these from Peripera, this one from Aritaum, and the Missha Tension Blusher which is like a cushion blush. Another personal fave of mine is the Canmake Cream Cheek in CL01, the color looks scary in the pan but it goes on so naturally and looks exactly like the flush you get in the winter on lighter skin.

I'd love to suggest the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown :O That's one of the few books I read during high school (I know.. Boo me..)

Another book, if you're into witty and very.. distinct style, is John Dies at the end by David Wong. First few pages had me going "... What am I reading? Why is there an axe? WHO CARES ABOUT THE AXE?"
Be warned it swear a bit, if that's not really your cup of tea.

Here's a website with some quotes on the book: http://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/225033.David_Wong

Ta-daaaaa item, Neil :3

It's time for a fresh summer blush. I'll add my silly face pic when I get home to my camera! :) I haven't played hopscotch since I was in elementary school. lol

How about Canmake Cream Cheek in Clear Red?
You can get it on Amazon for decently cheap.

Otherwise I'd try Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee (three different nice reddish colors) or Stila Convertible Color in Poppy.

L'oreal true match super-blendable blush in Baby Blossom is very similar. I own both (Baby Blossom and Dandelion) and often will interchange them. However, it does say that it is for cool tones (pink undertones). If you are concerned about that I would try Innocent Flush, which is for neutral undertones.

I wish I had a blush that wasn't too dark for my complexion.
