Don't know if it's the one you're looking for but the QI General Book of Ignorance is always a fun read. Had nice short 1/2 page facts, slowly progressing from one subject into another. Perfect for on-the-go reading, or on-the-toilet reading according to my SO! :P

Here's a book to read on the subject, about this patent. It was featured in another book, Why Things Are, which I recommend if you plan to muse on issues like this. I still have my copy and I might be able to scan some pages if you're interested.
