That's the reason I went for finished wood โ it sacrifices the aromatic and absorbent qualities of cedar, but there's less chance of splintering and cracking.
I should mention that I only use those for suits and outerwear. I use thick plastic hangers like these for shirts, and I've found that they're more than thick enough to prevent "hanger bumps" and unwanted stretching. But I've been wanting to upgrade to wood hangers like these because they provide the same benefit without the unwieldiness of the thick plastic hooks.
