Really, to get started with journaling at a very base level, not much is needed. The way I started was very simple.
• College-ruled composition notebook
• A decent pen.
However, I understand a comp. notebook isn't best tool to use, so instead you could buy these run-of-the-mill-but-better-quality notebooks I got recently off Amazon. Much, much better than 50 cent Staples notebooks.

I've never been one to decorate so my notebook only has a name on it. But, I figure a pack of markers, some stickers, and some creativity can go a long way. There isnt really a product (that I can think of, at least) that really promotes journaling aside from personal drive and motivation. As far as making handwriting pleasurable, the knack for writing will come naturally as you write more often. I used to hate it in grade school, but through the end of high school and college as I began to write more entries, writing just began to feel good. I don't know why; I just got used to it.
You just need the desire to write and to express yourself on the page. There's no miracle method which will force you to write. That has to come from you.
