  • One Female 3 Pin Fan Connector
  • Two 3 Pin Male Fan Connectors
  • Note: Only one 3-Pin male connector has a tachometer/speed wire. This is because motherboards/fan controllers cannot accurately read the fan speed when two speed signals are being given simultaneously. This cable is made correctly to avoid this problem, with only one tachometer wire on one of the male connectors.

You need a fan splitter, this is for rgb headers. You need something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Splitter-Extension-Sleeving-Connectors-Length/dp/B00C46DX4S

I made one using a small breadboard and some jumper wires, this works too if you have it laying around.

Yes, you can use a Y splitter, which is what many PC builders use to power multiple fans. If your fan uses a two pin connector, you can get this:

This problem you have is also seen in Printrbot Simple Metal, so people print mounts for two fans as seen here:

Hope it helps :)

That motherboard supports only 2 case fans.
But don't worry, that can be easily fixed. Just buy any 3-pin fan cable Y splitter, this is just an example and plug both exhaust fans into same SYSFAN slot to fix the issue. Or actually, I would recommend 2 intakes and 1 exhaust.

I have a small hiccup and hope you could help? Insufficient fan headers

I have a Gigabyte B360M DS3H mobo: Link

I also have 2x 120mm intake fans (3-pin): Fractal Design Silent Series R2 120mm

And 1x 120mm exhaust fan (3-pin): CM Masterfan MF120L

Mobo only has 2x system fan headers, I have 3 fans.

I'm thinking of getting a 3-Pin Fan Cable Y Splitter for the 2x intake fans, e.g.: Amazon link

Questions:

a) Would using the Y splitter be bad for my mobo in the long run?

b) Would my mobo be able to control the fan's RPM on its own

c) Would my mobo be able to handle sending electricity to the 2x fans on a single fan header? (is there some calculation i should be doing?)

d) Should I look for 3-pin only Y splitters, or does it not matter whether i get it with 3 or 4 pins (for the male and female components)

oh alright so you have the cpu fan on the cpu header and the 1st case fan on the motherboard. You connect the 2nd case fan to the PSU and the pc doesnt boot?

You can get a Y cable and split the fan header into two cables. Your PC should run fine for a week or so till you get the adapter.

=(

I'm thinking of two possible solutions. A fan splitter, to connect the CPU fan with one of the Chassis fans in a port that works (simplest/cheapest) or a internal fan hub (sometimes they help 3-pin fans work or smooth out voltages that are necessary).

Splitter example (prob cheaper out there): https://www.amazon.com/Splitter-Extension-Sleeving-Connectors-Length/dp/B00C46DX4S

Hubs: https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=fan+hub+3-pin&N=-1&isNodeId=1

Idk how this would deal with being fed variable DC. If OP is concerned about that he can get a simple splitter like this one

I don't know for certain, but one would think a Y Fan Splitter would work.

This one seems to have decent reviews

you need a 3 pin splitter cable. one plugs into the mobo first 3 header pins. the bios for that header should be set to voltage.
