I just finished reading A Brief History of Thought: A Philosophical Guide to Living, which was excellent and very accessible. I'd definitely recommend that.
Let loose of the arrogance and learn about live and train your judgement. Read those philosophers if you like. Don't brag about it. Try to understand their points and their ideas. There is maybe a shortcut.
And forget about intelligence. Solve problems. Make yourself useful. I'm not the one to judge you, through.
