So, I'm looking for a pair of cool sneakers that I can wear with both jeans and dresses... but that won't be totally overdone and need to be retired within 18 months (My Jeffree Campbell Litas are crying in my closet as we speak). I want to be cool and comfy, but I'm frugal too. Anyone have suggestions? Maybe Adidas Stan Smiths? I love the look of white but I'm honestly worried about keeping them clean.

Edit with conclusions: I got this pair of Converse in the light surplus color because well, I love Converse and I currently have been repurchasing Toms in that color from Costco every time they get too gross to clean ($30 if you can go to Costco!). I still love them as a super simple, plain shoe, but they just get too dirty.

Since the Converse were such a great bargain, I'm still hunting for a pair of dark gray or black sneakers. I'm a big neutrals person and can't help myself. Possibly open to burgundy/maroon. I'm leaning towards the Adidas Gazelles or Neo Advantage, especially since I can go buy them in store today and I'm impatient. Probably the Neo because they're not suede and available at DSW for $60ish. I'd link but their site is down. :)

Thanks so much for all the helpful comments! Some of us just aren't sneaker people..
