I would recommend starting slow with fingers and maybe a slim butt plug. This is my favorite butt plug to use. You can get it in three sizes and it has a great shape. I also suggest getting some gloves for starting out with anal play. I really like receiving anal with these on a partner for a couple of reasons. Clean up is so much easier and the lube doesn't get absorbed by the skin. I like the black gloves because they hid anything that may still be in there. I'll also recommend using condoms on toys for the same reasons. As far as positions go while doggy style is the assumed position for anal having him lie on his back can be really nice. Don't expect him to stay hard the entire time, but do expect your stomach muscles to hurt. You're going to use them in ways you're not used to.

I bought These from Amazon awhile back, to cover my hands while doing some machine maintenance because it has a lot of fine metal dust and grease that takes FOR-FUCKING-EVER to get off of my hands.
Ran out, then there was a sale with These. Bought them.... They're 3mils thick. The other ones were 6. It makes a HUGE difference. I tear the thinner gloves so goddamn often. It's great for slightly more delicate tasks, but for anything else, get the thicker ones.
The ones that Weiner linked are 5-5.5mils thick. Pretty close to my first box.

These are the needles I bought and have lasted me 6 tattoos (5 of which took two sessions). There are some in there I will probably never use but you never known when you decide to do some fat lines and need those 9rl's.
Washing your hands is nice but gloves are another layer of safety on top. Unless you are going to the doctors soon to swipe some.
This is the ink I use. Small but has lasted me.
Dettol for stencil transfer paper because I am not about to fuck up the bad on something that is gonna stick around for a bit. I also just have alcohol wipes at home from a kit, dollar store plastic shot glasses I wash, and paper towels to complete my kit. Should set you back 50 but last you through a ton of stick and pokes.
