I always go with the OnePlus/Bear Motion-style sandpaper slim cases. Lately you can find them made by Anccer on Amazon.
Really great thin protection, definitely not a bumper case or an OtterBox, but offers plenty of protection for me.
Also the gritty texture helps me not drop my phone.

It is super slim and it should at least protect the edges on a fall. I never cracked a single glass using these kind of protectors.
