General parasite meds

General Fungal Meds

Any pet store should have them or something similar.

I also agree with fasting him and the poop theory.

When a fish gets sick, you just kind of shotgun remedies at them and hope for the best. They’re too small and fragile to experiment to find the exact cause.

You also might try a saltwater dip. There are plenty of instructions online. You can get a gallon of marine (salt) water for a couple of bucks at most fish stores.

Good luck!

It could be a fungus or something bacterial. I've had good luck with this when treating fungal infections.

Like /u/dinozgorur said, add some aquarium salt, bumb the temp up (slowly) to 83-85, and do a water change.

It is hard to tell from the pics, but are his scales sticking up kinda like a pine cone?

bettafix and salt are more effective against bacterial infections, and this looks more like something fungal to me. What kind of medications are available to you?

The ragged fins and pinholes do indicate finrot, so the waterchanges, salt, and IAL will prob help with that. They might not help enough to also let your buddy get over the fungal infection on his own. Any chance you can order something like fungus eliminator or API fungus cure?

You can try some API Fungus Cure Powder, I have used this in the past and it clears them up in a little over a week. Just follow directions and you should be fine. It has been safe for my plants as well. Turns your water very green though... Nothing a few water changes wont clear up. You can get on Amazon for about $5 put link below for you. Hope this helps you. https://www.amazon.com/API-Fungus-Cure-Powder-10-Count/dp/B001OIQE5C/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1467992593&sr=1-1&keywords=fish+fungus

If it is white and fluffy it is likely fungus. I would go with API Fungus Cure, remove all the carbon from your filters if you have any and follow the directions on the box. I believe it's like one $14.99 box treats up to 100 gallons.

DO NOT use products like melafix or pimafix, these are "natural" remedies that actually don't contain any real medicine.

Edit: pretty cheap on amazon right now
