I understood maybe like 5% of that. Honestly have not a clue. I got interested in the oud because a friend of mine found it at a flea market and gave ot to me, and there are some traditional players that play at restaurants near where I live. Most of what I know is from watching youtube, and the music is BEAUTIFUL. I just have a really hard time hearing the scale. I do hear the semitones in the music, but when I try to play it myself I find myself squeezing it back into a western scale. I don't know much more than tha.
