I have to vouch for this stuff. Wal-Mart sells the scented kind in my area, and they are both fantastic. Free of most of the chemically stuff you're trying to avoid, but still extremely effective (for me at least) and also pretty cheap.
To give you an idea, I can wear any other deodorant (even the "prescription strength" stuff) and still be funky at the end of the day, from just sitting in a classroom or an office all day. This stuff, I'm fresh all day and it lasts even through workouts, Summer activities, etc. At least that's been my experience.
I've used a bunch, but found Arm and Hammer the best.
