Flipbook is a fun tool, I really like the onion-skinning you can do with it. The only issue I had with it was that the maximum frame size was pretty small (I think only 900pixels wide) so I couldn't get too elaborate with the animation.

If you really want to get a "hand-drawn" feel, why not just buy a light table and draw it by hand? I bought one years ago and it's one of my favorite tools. Aside from animation, I use it to ink my designs before I scan them in for further tweaking in photoshop. Of course this is a time-consuming process but that's what it takes for quality hand-drawn animation.

There's been a whole wishlist just for Momdukes on my WL, but you said to link a specific item so this lightbox and this calligraphy kit add up to just about 50. Calligraphy is a HUGE love of hers and having these to be able to do art therapy at home would be FREAKING AMAZING. (She goes to the VA to do it most of the time but sometimes she needs to stay home) Thanks for the contest, so much. I tried using a regular scanner and those suck with negatives, as it turns out (something to do with transparency etc). I found that it was much more easier to take macro photographs of a negative and correct it (invert color, then play with 'curves') in photo editing software. Edit: when doing this, make sure that the camera is perfectly aligned with the negative.
