Or just use a light box.

It would be tedious to place the sand like he does, but it would make it simple to get perfect results.

Flipbook is a fun tool, I really like the onion-skinning you can do with it. The only issue I had with it was that the maximum frame size was pretty small (I think only 900pixels wide) so I couldn't get too elaborate with the animation.

If you really want to get a "hand-drawn" feel, why not just buy a light table and draw it by hand? I bought one years ago and it's one of my favorite tools. Aside from animation, I use it to ink my designs before I scan them in for further tweaking in photoshop. Of course this is a time-consuming process but that's what it takes for quality hand-drawn animation.

I heart Mom's!

'Specially my Mom, of course. :D She is the best person I know. The strongest, most kind and loving human that lives. We've never had a lot, but she's always done what she could to make my life as good as she could and it's amazing how much love just pours out of her. I nominate her. Bonus picture at your request. Sleeping Mommy. Not feeling good today. SHHHHH don't tell her I took that picture she'll kill me. Here is an awake version hugging a big Tigger.

There's been a whole wishlist just for Momdukes on my WL, but you said to link a specific item so this lightbox and this calligraphy kit add up to just about 50. Calligraphy is a HUGE love of hers and having these to be able to do art therapy at home would be FREAKING AMAZING. (She goes to the VA to do it most of the time but sometimes she needs to stay home) Thanks for the contest, so much. Even if she doesn't win, the chance to possibly have her get these things is monumental. Thank you.

[jiffy pop] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007EC5MIM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1ACYBPXW50GS&coliid=I3AD9NRI0NIO3B) I had it for the first time a couple months ago and it exceeded my expectations! It was fun to make and was one of the best thingys of popcorn i have ever ever had. The other high priority item i have is a [light box] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KNHRH6/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=YCQA0VLK1CQ8&coliid=I31S61MPD5I4CI) it would help me with my art and make my life easier with my drawings:) I have always wanted one more than anything, ive pined over it for years:)

I have a tablet but my light table is just a small portable one kind of like this ! ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KNHRH6/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=1535523702&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B005OM0D9W&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=05WG1SDT378CQCK4YDAB ). Cleanness is also overrated , i love rough loose sketches ! those tend to be my fav :) !

I tried using a regular scanner and those suck with negatives, as it turns out (something to do with transparency etc). I found that it was much more easier to take macro photographs of a negative and correct it (invert color, then play with 'curves') in photo editing software. This guy does something similar (if you're curious about the results): http://www.flickr.com/photos/maergun/5511611384

Easiest way to do that (with any camera that takes macro --if you have a dslr, a macro lens is needed) is to use a lightbox:
http://www.ehow.com/how_7672995_convert-negatives-using-light-box.html

A lightbox is something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Artograph-10-Inch-by-12-Inch-LightTracer-Light-Box/dp/B000KNHRH6/ref=sr_1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1301846833&sr=1-1

Edit: when doing this, make sure that the camera is perfectly aligned with the negative.

Edit 2: Why would someone downvote the OP?
