Pretty much any cap from like a bic pen should do fine (I use one from the bic round stic). It really isn't hard to find a pen like that, almost everyone has a couple lying around and they're really really cheap. I wouldn't get the 800. I have the 800+ (the 800 with a sylus as well) and the knurling isn't as sharp so I can't get as good as a grip on it. I much prefer the knurling on either the 600 or the 500.

If you prefer a more elegant solution, you can buy a leather slip like this one for example and put the pencil in it so that you don't get holes in your pocket. It is more pricey, but it does have the added benefit of keeping your pencil better protected from scratches and wear/tear.

I carry mine in my pocket in an Aston Leather pen slip (available from Amazon in tan or black or Goulet in tan, black, or brown). At home I keep them in a cheap case from Amazon.

Oh you're running down a slippery slope! I don't know if I would go with separate cartridges, but what you can do is grab these sample vials from Goulet and syphon some ink into them to carry around. I use this case to carry around my pens and samples, along with other things, but I also use this and this based on what I'm doing that day. Sometimes I'll stick with just this because I don't need much. To make filling things easier, I use a blunt tipped syringe. My hands stay clean that way.
