Thanks for the detailed feedback /u/iamoverrated . I just cracked open the case and it's only a 255W PSU in it.

Currently there are 2 1600x900 monitors plugged into the 9800GT.
I have no problem running proprietary drivers (currently running nvidia drivers.
I plan on just using it for casual gaming (when time permits), nothing else like crypto-mining or anything.

I presume the GTX 750Ti would be my best (only?) choice here? Both it and the 650Ti are the same price on SCAN atm:

  • 750 : Scan.co.uk
  • 650 : Scan.co.uk

Edit: Just had a look and the 660 is also in the £130 ball-park. (I might purhase this one, along with a PSU for ~£60)

I'm curious how the fan is on these PNY cards... I have a PNY GTX670 with a similar reference cooler/fan... Not sure if a lot has changed with it since then but I personally hate it. Its not very effective, and it gets loud at certain fan speeds.

I also have a budget-build PC as well with an ASUS GTX660. I love those fans. Its much quieter and keeps it much cooler.

I guess with the GTX970 you shouldn't have to worry about temperatures, but I would pay an extra couple bucks and/or wait a week or 2, for a better, quieter GPU fan.

I'm American; my research is based entirely on amazon.co.uk. Converting your budget to United States Dollars and searching on amazon.com gives you better pricing, though I suspect you'd lose out on shipping, if that's how it works.

After continuing to look through the deals, this one also seems like a good deal but I have never heard anything about ASUS GPUs so I dont know much about them.
