Edit : Looks like the Coupon got taken down, games over folks :(

Looks like it's bugging out and applying the 20% off Twice. Discount applies at checkout!

YMMV as it may not apply twice to everything.

This is already posted on Slickdeals so you better look fast if you want to get anything good before they clean everything out.

You don't need those 2 Corsair fans. The case comes with 3 fans and your CPU cooler comes with another 2. 5 fans is definitely enough. 7 would be pretty loud.

Like others have said, the GPU is way overkill for your monitor. I have a GTX 980 TI with a 1440p 60 hz monitor and I can pretty much max out everything with 55-60 fps. Either get a 1440p 60hz monitor or a 1080p 144hz. Even then, it might be a bit overkill.

  • a GTX 1070 would work for 1080 144hz, I think. Or 1440p 60 hz. I'm honestly not sure how demanding 144hz is as I only use 60.

Since you're alraedy at your budget's limit, I would personally go with a 1070 GPU and use the extra money from ditching the 1080 and the fans to get a better monitor. My monitor is this one:

    https://www.amazon.com/PB258Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Ergonomic-Back-lit/dp/B00VRKVGJG?ie=UTF8&tag=pcpapi-20

I bought it when it was on sale for under $300, I think, though.

It's a decent monitor. Came with a little backlight bleeding but overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Do you also have a keyboard + desk? Because I didn't factor those two in when I built mine and I ended up pushing my budget past my limit.

Personally I just looked through options for a long time and found that the ASUS PB258Q was my best bet, though your requirements might vary. A couple reasons I chose it over Acer's offerings is the VESA mounting capability(though I see the K27 has that) and thin bezels. I personally plan on eventually having 3 mounted for an Eyefinity setup.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Slightly more than you want to pay (270$) - Asus 25 inch 1440p ips 60hz with a fully adjustable stand (height angle and rotate)

Edit - I posted this yesterday. I went to buy it today and it is out of stock and the price jumped $40. I feel like I brought this on myself :(

It's only 25" and right now it's $300 but if you watch it you can probably get it for $240-$260. I got this one and I love it, very solid stand and a lot movement for adjusting it.

u/NickingNinaj · 2 pointsr/Monitors

This is very helpful, thanks! I had considered it but the 8ms response time initially had me rule it out. After reading the review you so kindly linked, I'm definitely considering this monitor now.
I'm a bit torn between the Dell you linked, this ASUS, and this BenQ.

u/rolfraikou · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Or This one is the same price, 5ms instead of 1ms, but it's IPS (better color and viewing angles), it is mountable (vesa mount) and I've had one for years that's done me well (graphic designer, so color is a must)

1ms might be necessary for an intense FPS player, but I think (also as a Minecraft player) that better visuals are more important for creative types than a few ms. Besides, I used to do FPS games on 12ms just fine. So 5ms really isn't bad at all.

EDIT: And a surprisngly cheap 2560x1440 25" IPS if you really want to spoil the kid.

u/randombullet · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I personally have the Asus PB258Q and I love it. My other monitor is a Dell S2340M.

AV I use Panda Anti-Virus Free and it works flawlessly. It's light weight and non-intrusive.

In addition to Panda I use Spybot S&D 2 which is an awesome program.

For system monitoring I use HWInfo64. It allows you to track your uptime, average temperature, highs and lows and current temperature. It's your all in one stop for hardware monitoring. It includes CPU speeds, GPU speeds, voltages, and much much more.

The entire Piriform suite of software that include Speccy, Defraggler, and CCleaner.

Rainmeter is a desktop custumization tool that allows you to put system information on your desktop along with email notifications, RSS feeds and much more. Here is my desktop.

I recently got the Asus PB258Q 25" Monitor (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VRKVGJG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_I75pybQKD4FB7) and I love it. It's 1440p 60Hz. Looks amazing on my desk.
As far as ram goes, I'd go with 32 if you can to give yourself some room to grow without worry, but if anyone else has experience in video editing I'm sure they'd be more helpful.
The appeal to liquid cooling is its usually better (in my experience but your mileage may vary) and is much quieter.

u/zRY4N · 1 pointr/Monitors

what about buying a refurbished one like this?

u/just_a_tech · 1 pointr/Monitors

I'm looking at this Asus

u/Radiofacespurtle · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I've been looking at this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VRKVGJG?keywords=Asus%201440p&qid=1457667745&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 Looks really promising and has a vertical mount which is really nice

u/mythrilguy · 1 pointr/buildapc

Been looking to grab a second monitor as I stream some and it helps to have two monitors and I've been doing some research on 1440p performance of an i5 6500 and rx 480 4gb and most games I play that have videos of it seem to run pretty well. I don't see any downsides and I'd have more desktop space for checking my stream stats, live chat, etc, whereas another 1080p monitor, 144hz though, would only benefit me playing it rather than the viewers. I know 144hz is a game changer from 60, but I'm not sure if it'd be worth it considering a 1440p monitor that I'm looking at is the same price as a 1080p 144hz monitor. Monitor

Which is better? I'd still play on my 1080p monitor mostly for streaming, maybe play some on the 1440p if I ever wanted to considering an rx 480 can handle it pretty well, not the greatest, but at high settings some texture filter on low and maybe shadows on low (high shadow settings never appealed to me).

u/patton3 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Your CPU is perfectly fine for gaming, your friend just told you to get a cheaper one because this one has benefits that are negligible in gaming, it is better, and it's certainly not trash, it's the best there is.
As for an upgrade, you have everything there for 1440p gaming, you just need a monitor, I reccomend https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00VRKVGJG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483538661&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=1440p%2Bmonitor%2B144hz&dpPl=1&dpID=41-71fouMkL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

u/nanermaner · 1 pointr/macsetups

Good question, this took me some time and money to figure out, but it was important to me to be able to run this whole setup through 1 port.

My setup is that I have two ASUS PB258Q 25" monitors. I run those through Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Dock, one is connected via display port and the other is connected to a usb-c port using a displayport -> usb-c adapter.

Then I just connect the macbook to the USB-c dock and the dock supplies power + display connection to the monitors.

The ThunderBolt 3 dock is highway robbery but all of the docks that supply 85W of power are expensive, and it does work perfectly for my setup.

Also, the two main options people are going to give you with a GTX 1070 are 1440p @60Hz and 1080p @ 144Hz. The 1440p will have a better image quality but you sacrifice FPS. 1080p @144Hz will give you frames for days at a lower resolution.

Choice is yours and complete personal preference.

Here is a solid option with 1440p as opposed to my other 1080p suggestion, just so you see both sides.

Also, every time I reread your original question, this is all I can think.

Just bought two new DP cables, they're hooked up now. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J9R9ZY9/ The two I had were Accell as well, they came highly recommended. Brand new cables, issue persists.

The two monitors are 25'' ASUS PB258Q, IPS, 1440p60. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VRKVGJG/

The PSU is a Corsair RM750x. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079HGN5QS/

I am also torn between the monitor listed in the PCPartpicker list and this other Asus 1440p monitor, which is 80$ less.

EDIT: Also considering this (considerably cheaper) monitor.
u/mke5271 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

No experience, but this monitor is in that price range and has no bezels. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VRKVGJG

u/mewe123 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

1v1 me m8! Thanks though, I thought it was the best it was in the price rang but someone has brought this to my attention though. This beauty http://www.amazon.com/PB258Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Ergonomic-Back-lit/dp/B00VRKVGJG

Look around because you can normally find this monitor for 300 and it was on sale for 250 recently.

u/Kench33 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

I have a 970 and i5 6600k, should I get this or get something with higher mhz? I currently have this monitor as my main gaming monitor and a Samsung 1080p one.

u/jobhand · 1 pointr/Monitors

Really most IPS panel monitors will be good for design. But if you want specifics this site is really helpful.

http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/de421880d

I have the LG compared to the ASUS I have. The ASUS is 1440p, is maybe $50 more and has a bit higher of Adobe RGB coverage. But yeah use that sight to research the monitors you're looking at, it's a great resource.

Also if you're interested in the ASUS here's a link to it on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PB258Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Monitor/dp/B00VRKVGJG

u/DoombotBL · 1 pointr/Monitors

Looks good to me man. Personally I'd pay a little more for this one for the adjustable stand.

u/NarwhalShibboleth · 1 pointr/buildapc

You'll definitely need one that has pivot adjustment, unless you have a stand which in that case you'll need VESA mounts on the monitor.

1080p? 1440p? I assume you only want 60Hz.

For 1440p, the Asus PB258Q has a nice tiny bezel and a fully pivotable stand.

u/amm567 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Probably just going to wait until I get paid again and grab this one.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VRKVGJG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WkF0xb5KG2GE1

Until then, I'll just use a crappier one for now.

u/Robo1914 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

This is a good 1080p montor https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010VG2456/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A270GIASSJQ68C

heres a 1440p one https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PB258Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Monitor/dp/B00VRKVGJG/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1475118335&sr=1-1&keywords=1440p+monitor

but if your only going to be playing those games the 1080 one should be fine and you can save up the rest of that money to go towards something else also it depends what i/o and gpu you have
