www.mindfactory.de I think. But get only the small (and expensive) parts from there. It seems to be 22 euros shipping to France but I don't know how much it will be for large packets.

If I were you, I'd get:

CPU, RAM, CPU cooler from mindfactory (all in one order to save on shipping)

SSD, GPU, motherboard and whichever case you want from amazon.fr (again all in one order to save on shipping)

and the PSU, if the shipping costs stay the same, from mindfactory or pay the extra 10 and get it from amazon along with the rest.

First and foremost, thanks a lot for you reply! I know some of these components are quite beefy and not the usual go to for first time builders. However, I am getting help to put everything together from an experienced friend and I wanted to get my thirst for performance to be sated for at least a couple of years before having to consider updating components.

To reply to your questions:

  1. All my life I've been playing on a laptops with serious overheating issues (currently my CPU and GPU are both running at 97°C while not even running that demanding games). Because of this, I've grown a little paranoid when it comes to cooling. So I wanted to make sure in my PC build that I don't cheapen down on cooling. My main preference for watercooling though is because it takes up less space than an aircooler in the center of the motherboard. I didn't want to encounter any situations where an air cooler would block up the space around other components while trying to get those assembled. Also, I do like the fact that the heatsink is moved to the edge of the case, redirecting the heat elsewhere.
  2. You are absolutely right. I decided to cheapen on the motherboard because from what I've heard, they don't directly increase performance benchmarks. Looking at it from a wider perspective than just benchmarks, this genuinely isn't a good idea indeed.
  3. I followed your advice and coughed up just a few more euros to get a better rated motherboard that also has metal shielding on its first PCIex16 slot. I went for the ASUS Prime Z370-A from Amazon. On top of that, its colours match the entire build quite well.
  4. I'll be using the simple, modest white Corsair Carbide Series 275-R case with a Tempered Glass window.

I should have all the components by Monday. I'll post an update when everything's put together. Thanks again for your input on this.
