Hey! It looks like you've got a pretty solid build started here! I just want to point out a few things to make your life just a little bit easier.

  1. The motherboard you have will NOT work with the CPU that you've chosen. You picked a Z170A board, which works with the 6th and 7th generation (if BIOS is flashed) of Intel CPU's, and you're buying an 8th generation. So I would recommend this board or this one instead. Either will work, it just depends on how much money you want to spend.
  2. Don't buy the power supply you've picked. It puts out way more wattage than you'll use, so I would recommend saving some money and maybe picking up this one. As a bonus it has an RGB fan, so that's kinda cool. It's also fully modular, meaning that you only need to plug the cables into the PSU that you need instead of having extras to hide in your case.
  3. I'd also save some money on your RAM. This set is cheaper, faster, and only requires that you use two of your RAM slots instead of all four. More upgradeability in the future!
  4. Think about if you really need 2TB of storage right now. The 1TB SSD you have picked out is going to be great, and if you're new to PC gaming it's going to have plenty of space for awhile. You can always pick up a new HDD (like the Seagate one you have in your cart) later down the road.
  5. With the money that you've saved, I think that you could upgrade your graphics card from your 1060 (a GREAT option, don't get me wrong) to a 1070 like this one. (EVGA is a great company in my opinion, and I love their graphics cards.) It's a great contender for both 1440p and 1080p gaming!
  6. Others have said to get a cheaper air cooler instead of opting for the water cooler that you've picked. If you decide to go that route (completely fine) I would maybe go with something like this if you want something extra beefy to keep your CPU cool, or this less beefy one. Either way, 8th generation CPUs run hot, so the water cooler you have would work great.

So there ya go! I hope that you enjoy your new build, it's going to be amazing! If you PM me I'll add you on Steam and we can play some games together when your build is all set!

These may/may not be considered a deal but here's what I found

ASUS PRIME Z370-A ($121 - 20%)

Samsung 970 EVO 500GB ($118-20%)

EVGA CLC 280mm All-In-One RGB LED CPU Liquid Cooler ($76-20%)

EVGA M01C-61-000002 CLC Tuner ($5-20%)

Edit: There's also a wacky rgb fan

I have the i7 8700.

I went overboard and got an NH-D15, I can never hear the fans running and I have a 1080 Ti so the CPU is definitely utilized. I'd need to check my temps but they're pretty low.

I have my processor at 4.4 all core when it's utilized, and it backs down frequency when not.

I am using the Prime Z370-A

My RAM speed is 2600mhz as I bought 32gb back before the prices jumped when I got my Z170 board.

I went with this one. Decent price and it works with my ram that apparently is very temperamental. It doesn't have wifi/bt built in, so no frills except the rgb strip on it.

Alternative CPU coolers:

Be Quiet! Dark Rock 4 $75

Cryorig H7 $36

[Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005O65JXI/?tag=pcpapi-20) $25

AIO WATER:

Corsair H100i $100/120(RGB)

EVGA CLC 280 $110

(No need for case fans if you're going with AIO WATER)

ALTERNATIVE BOARDS:

AsRock TaiChi Z370 $212

Asus Prime Z370-A $159

Good point on the 240mm fitting in a small ITX case, can't help you there.

I've got a ASUS Prime Z370-A that works with my i5 9600k, I would assume yours would work as well, it being a Z370. Just make sure to update the BIOS.

I've got my i5 9600k overclocked to 4,8ghz at a stable 65c Under load with 120mm aio cooler (plan on getting 240mm when I get my new case). I'm new to overclock, so I just used the EZ tuner on asus bios. You could Always grab a EVGA clc 120 or something similar and you'd be good.

H370? Is that the same as Z370? I've never heard of that before...or maybe I'm being dumb. I'd recommend the Asus TUF Z370 Pro Gaming (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075RJP22C/?tag=pcpapi-20) or the Asus Prime Z370-A (https://www.amazon.com/PRIME-LGA1151-Motherboard-Generation-Processors/dp/B075RJHN2D) if your not a fan of yellow.

To answer your first question, I would recommend the Noctua D14 or D15 air cooler, as they are only a few bucks more and come with their own high quality thermal paste tube (NOT PRE-APPLIED).

Also, you don't really need 3200 RAM for an Intel CPU. You would see minimal performance gains. Check this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232756&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Storage is really nice! Maybe the Samsung 970 EVO 500GB would be better?

GPU is fine, although what monitor/refresh rate do you have? The GPU would be fine at 1080p/1440p 144hz.

At that price for the case, you could go for a Fractal Design Meshify C or a Cooler Master Mastercase H500, both of which are SOLID Cases and better than the NZXT h500i IMO.

PSU is good, unless your going to throw in some crazy GPU in the far future, but that's unlikely.

Other than these nitpicks, that's one fine build!

So does that mean there are no inherent advantages to the ASUS prime: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075RJHN2D/?tag=pcpapi-20&th=1

versus the EVGA board when excluding overclocking?
