I would easily pick this ASUS ROG Strix GL553VD if I had that $1000 budget. It has a very powerful and new Core i7-7700HQ processor, 16 GB RAM, a 1 TB storage and a nice gtx 1050 dedicated graphics card.. This laptop will run the games you mentioned, very well and also be an solid machine for photo and video editing. Apart from pure performance, it has a very good build quality with a solid chassis and great keyboard..It also weighs 5.5 pounds which I think is not bad at all as the laptop itself is not bulky at all..It will be a good machine for school, gaming as well as editing.

Pro-star N855HJ can be good but seems Prostar Amazon is still selling it with the very poor quality stock/default TN panel and not the IPS screen upgrade which was added.

The difference: https://i.imgur.com/Sajajqc.jpg

IPS screen on the Prostar is much better but still only 55% sRGB. Might not be ideal if you're going to edit on the internal display.

Can get this one or this one. Second one uses a faster SSD in addition to the 16GB RAM instead of 8GB. 8GB one can be DIY upgraded to 16GB without voiding the warranty. Empty slot if you want to add a HDD in addition to the SSD. Screen is better at 82% sRGB -- applies primarily to Eluktronics' N850 rather than the N850 as a whole.

There's this ASUS which, assuming it will definitely use the same screen as this review and it isn't a panel lottery, is 91% sRGB rather than 82%. Battery life is lower though.

If you can go slightly over, a refurb Dell XPS 9560 from the Outlet with the i5-HQ and FHD might actually be your nicest choice. 15.6" but only 4.4 lbs and 97% sRGB.

Hey guys. Looking to get a nice gaming laptop (desktop is not possible at the moment) and found this. I figured since it had a gtx 1050 in it, it'll run games well. I know itll run Legion, but what fps can I expect? Also, how well it fair with Battlefield 1, Fallout 4, Skyrim Remastered, or other new games?

NEW IDEA: As I am moving to the US, I will stop in Canada. I have family there aswell. What about this:

Asus Strix for 875USD (In CAD)
Perhaps I can add a 128gb SSD to it?

Acer Nitro for 930USD

I didn't know Ryzen stepped up the game. I've been out of the loop for quite a while now. lol. The monitor doesn't bother me not having speakers I'll use a headset or exterior speakers anyway.
I appreciate your help!

I'll assume you're from UK because of "£". It's hard to find a decent laptop for £650 and a laptop with your requirements would be a least £800-850.

So I recommend looking at the used marked for last gen models.

I found this laptop on amazon with last gen i7 processor(7700HQ), 16GB RAM and GTX1050 Graphic card. It's not the best, but it's something. The outside screams gamer and if that's not your thing, I recommend going to a Acer or Dell Inspiron series laptop.

I think you can get an ASUS ROG with a 950m or 1050. If you can look for other ways to carry your laptop then I suggest getting an rog. Around 1000-1300 USD in price which is around 1000 GBP

Yeah I realize that now, however I thought it was impossible to find one with alright specs that doesn't have that terrible "Gamer" aesthetic. Didn't know the Dell Insprion i7559 was a product..but I really don't want to upgrade the ram.

Might just suck it up and go with the Asus.

I have a nice BenQ monitor at home so I might just hook it up to that for anything color related.

I have a quick question would the laptop I linked be the best option for me? I made a post regarding what im looking for https://www.reddit.com/r/SuggestALaptop/comments/6c1kmt/laptop_for_college_1300_max_new_to_laptops_please/?st=J2WOR48J&sh=2cf011ea

I asked my friend that knows in laptops pretty well but wanted info from a very good source. The 3 others I considered were the 1st and 3rd ones I linked on my post(nvm the second one) and [this one](ASUS ROG Strix GL553VD 15.6" Gaming Laptop GTX 1050 4GB Intel Core i7-7700HQ 16GB DDR4 1TB 7200RPM HDD RGB Keyboard https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01NCOS5ZG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Gh7hzbCE1DX0Z)
My friend told me the msi are good but the ROG and acer are way better for the money(he said especially cause I found a deal on the acer for 1180$)
Is it true or one of the MSI or ROG would be better?
