Yeah, it's definitely better buy. If you are turned off by "THICC" bezel, there is also GL504 for about same price. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listing/B07D7P4SY1/ref=sr_1_7_olp?keywords=gtx+1070+laptop&m=AUJBRIGYRJ3Q8&qid=1556393175&s=warehouse-deals&sr=8-7&condition=used
I would go with this version of Asus ROG Strix Scar II and you will skip bunch of problemsif we are talking about heating issues. Yes, its pricier option, but if we are looking to a long term I think its the best what you can get right now in this price range.
I have the model under this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07D7P4SY1/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile
I've found a GTX 1070 is a must, my laptop has G-sync which makes FGs look amazing and actually improves input lag. Only issue is battery life is pretty awful. Anyways, I can play the game on max everything without any problems and this has an updated processor so the game should run amazing.

Copy-pasting my post from a similar question in /r/CAD:
>Pretty much any quality Intel-Based laptop will be fine. Most engineering stuff (outside of FEA/rendering) runs better on intel processors due to the higher single-threaded demand, and intel mobile offerings are a bit more widespread and better than comparably priced AMD options.

Regarding GPU: A quadro is nice to have, but not necessary for small assemblies/single parts. IF you get into more complicated stuff (unlikely for a student laptop), they can make a huge difference, though. If you're playing games, though you probably want to get a gaming laptop. This ASUS ROG Strix is a good laptop but boy it looks extremely "gamer"
