This is the panel I originally got. Initially I loved it, but the viewing angels distorting really started to piss me off, and with all these new monitors they put this anti glare film on them, and on a TN panel they REALLY stand out so every background that was white had this horrible looking greasy look to it and it started hurting my eyes and making me sick with the way it was reflecting light back into the panel.

I thought maybe I just had a bad panel, but a buddy of mine has an acer predator TN panel and it has the exact same panel with the anti-glare film over the panel and white backgrounds did the same thing on his screen.

I got this panel to replace it. It still has the anti-glare film on the screen, but I don't notice it at all. The brightness isn't distracting, the colors are significantly better and white backgrounds don't look like a blotchy mess.

This is what I am thinking to buy when I get my tax refund. Reviews seem to be hit and miss though so I am not sure entirely

Here are the links to the monitors, I didn’t know you could do this, I’m fairly new to Reddit;

Hi there, you didn't give a budget, but I'll assume it wont be an issue given the fact that you are running an i7-8700K with a 2080ti FE. Try this:

https://www.amazon.com/PG279Q-2560x1440-G-SYNC-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B0772CP7GC?th=1

Its 1440p and 165hz with G-SYNC, and as a nice bonus it's curved too. Its a TN panel but I've read that its on the high end of TN panels.

Unfortunately I don't know a 1440p 144hz IPS off the top of my head but if i find one I'll let you know. (I think this is a pretty high quality TN panel and won't be too far off from the quality of an IPS anyways.)

To answer your questions:

  1. An IPS will look better but a high quality TN panel is great too. I don't know much about HDR, sorry.
  2. G-SYNC is a nice bonus as a just in case, its definitely not necessary but its always good to have.
  3. You can tell the difference but its not like 1440p is ugly or anything. I don't think your system has enough firepower to play 4K at 144hz on some of the higher end games. (to be honest nothing really can so don't worry about that)
  4. If you position yourself perfectly a curved monitor will look amazing, and if you don't then it will still look great. Having a curved monitor is not a necessity but is a nice bonus and can add to the immersion of playing some games like Witcher 3, GTA V, and Tomb Raider. This one is personal preference, its not like flat is horrible in any way, curved is just an improvement. Your friends will also think you're cool if you have a curved monitor, guaranteed.

    Let me know what you decide to go with!

I've been looking for a 27" IPS 144Hz 1440p monitor for a little while now as well, and I have not seen many curved ones. I have seen more at the 31" and above size though that may not be helpful.
