The 27" version of this monitor is only $373 on Amazon. I bought it a couple months ago and I'm really happy with it.

u/BojanglesPC · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

No, at least get a 120hz or 144hz if youre going to invest that much money.

Asus/BenQ are top tier gaming monitor companies and LG sucks in general.

u/PrionBacon · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Since you mainly play FPS's, a monitor with high refresh rate will really help smooth out the experience and reduce your input lag ONLY IF you have the hardware to power all the frames per second (fps).

Since your budget is high, I recommend: http://www.amazon.com/VG278HE-27-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906HM6K

I have the 24 inch version and it works great. FPS games feel so much smoother than when I was using a 60 Hz display.

u/harunozaku · 3 pointsr/Tekzilla

If you want to stay at 24" than i would say the ASUS VG248QE http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313

If you can afford a bigger screen than get the ASUS VG278HE
http://www.amazon.com/Series-VG278HE-27-Inch-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906HM6K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1394686951&sr=8-2&keywords=VG27AH

I Love it, It allows the black and shades to be dark while allowing the colors to pop when it set up the right way.

VG278HE 144hz (no 3D kit) $499 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00906HM6K/

VG278H $593 120Hz (w/3D kit) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0063BM5NK/

I have the 120hz version (second batch). I paid maybe $620+ for it. Since I could give a shit about 3D, I wish that I had held out for the 144hz version :/

u/strifeisback · 2 pointsr/halo

I currently use a 27" ASUS VG278HE

  • 144hz which is only good for PC gaming as consoles are limited to 60fps cause their console limitations, 2ms, LED. Xbox, PC, Playstation. I use it for pretty much everything gaming. I love it. I can't stand 22 or 24" as they're just too small (believe it or not it's true, some people just need bigger screens :P)

It can be had on Amazon right now for $372

There is also the BenQ XL2720Z for $470 and the BenQ XL2720T for $450

Cheaper than any 32" as they normally run $800+ especially if you're looking for a gaming monitor with low input latency in the 2ms~ range.

I'm sure others will continue to tell you to get a 22-24" as it's "best" but really that's all subjective opinion and you should take your own opinions, do some research, and get something that works for you. If you prefer bigger screens - get a bigger screen just know that as I said before the bigger you go with gaming in mind the more expensive it will be.

    Good luck!
u/adm96 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I believe they also made a 27" of this model called the VG278HE

u/knifegash · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I'm thinking of getting this, but the 3D effect is completely useless to me. If they only had this configuration minus the 3D, I could save some cash.

u/Stankman · 2 pointsr/buildapc

$100 it looks like. 24'' HERE , and 27'' HERE.

Some people say that 27'' at 1080p is too big; that you can see the pixels. I have to say, I sit no more than 2-3 feet from my monitor and I cannot see a pixel. I love the size, it is the sweet spot for me.

u/elfonzi · 2 pointsr/summonerschool

55-75 ms is well in the range of good ping, I believe tsm moved closer to the riot servers which is why their ping improved. I also very much doubt tunneling services(don't know particulars just know a bunch of aussies that used it for wow).

As far as your fps it really depends on your monitor specifically, personally I just changed to a 144hz monitor from a 60 and the change was reasonably noticable although mostly subtle and I notice considerably less eye strain over long periods not to mention all the other specs of the monitor were and upgrade so it is hard to look at it in a vacuum. If you want a reccomendation for a monitor http://www.amazon.com/Series-VG278HE-27-Inch-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906HM6K I could not be happier with it since i got it.

If your refresh rate is 60 though your computer is processing 170 fps but you monitor can only display 60.

If you want some advice to improve your gaming from outside your gaming, make your area where you game as ergonomic as possible, lumbar support, comfy chair, gel wrist pads etc combined with trying to remember to get up and move around between games and spend time looking at stuff ~20 feet away. A lot of stuff of that I do is due to football injuries, carpal tunnel or shitty eyes but they are still effective, especially the getting up and moving around as micro breaks increase your alertness and functioning over long periods.

Gunnars if you wear contacts or don't need regular glasses are fairly affordable and yellow ones help a fair amount over long sessions of using the computer. The yellow tint is just like ski goggles or similar to polarized sunglasses in that it makes it easier to see contrast.

Link with a lot of the ergonomic stuff, take heed carpal tunnel is becoming a much more common injury among gamers.

I'm not partial to asus it just seems they are the best deals in monitors.

Determining the difference in Asus 1 and 2 as there is only a 5 dollar difference:

Asus 1

Asus 2

And then in these next 2 is the only difference screen size?

They both seem to follow the same specs. In which I would just go for Asus 3.

Asus 3

Asus 4

the one i have is sick dude

http://www.amazon.com/VG278HE-27-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906HM6K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407598984&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+27+inch+144hz

in additoin to being 144hz, also has 1ms response time. And the color and saturation is amazing. Honestly when i got this and played chiv, chivalry looked even better. All the lighting looks amazing, colors are way more vibrant, and walking inside stoneshill for example... even the torches on the wall and stuff look different in an amazing way.

Investment? yes.. it's pricey but peripherals make your gaming experience so good.

If that one is out of your price range, you can try this

http://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-24-inch-LED-lit-Monitor-response/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407599102&sr=8-1&keywords=24%27%27+asus+144hz

asus is awesome company, and if anything is wrong with your monitor, say you have dead pixel or something, they will send you replacement before you send to them. Great support awesome company and solid products.

You could go for one of those korean monitors or samsung or w/e.. but asus is tits man. Highly recommend. Sir_Pink and I have the same monitor and we love em.

I run three monitors but only game on one at the moment since I had 2 560ti's that gave me sli issues. 27" asus 1080p @ 144hz this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00906HM6K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Doing some research this monitor has caught my eye and is my current consideration for purchase. Anyone have any opinions on it or different recommendations?

u/mysticreddit · 1 pointr/Minecraft

Judder still happens at 60 fps; it is looks like shit at 24 fps as the movie clips demonstrate.

Back in the day I used to crank my CRT to 100 Hz. These days we can use LightBoost.

> Most computer screens only refresh at around 60-76 Hz so, unless you have something made for very high performance (both screen and, potentially, video card), you won't see anything beyond that.

You don't need a GTX Titan to see games running north of 120+ fps. These days I have both the ASUS VG248QE and ASUS VG278HE, both are 120 Hz monitors.

There **is*** a clear difference between 60 fps and 120 fps.

u/Po-Lee-S · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

May I ask where you got the price of $140? I don't see any listing for remotely close to that price. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00906HM6K/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used

u/Vancha · 1 pointr/buildapc

Are you aware that most people buy 3D monitors for the 120hz and not to actually use the 3D?

This one's good, apparently.

Very new and supposedly works with Nvidia 3D vision "2". In what way that's better than Nvidia's first 3D vision, I don't know.

u/zeus33rd · 1 pointr/blackops3

Wooo....At that budget, you could afford this-

ASUS ROG 27" 144hz, 1440p, G-sync monitor. $775 and is arguably one of the best gaming monitors you can get, if your hardware can power 1440p. I have no idea how all that works in the case of a console. Might be able to skip the G-sync, which makes that monitor expensive, and just go for the best 144hz monitor you can find.

These are the displayport cables that I am using.

Before I purchased this swift, I used to own THIS Asus monitor and was able to do surround with that unit. Now of course the front and back porches were about the same, and the polarity was the same as well from what I recall, so there was no issues with that due to the native resolution being 1080p.

What some of my research into this has shown is that some people were able to modify the resolution settings by using CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) and were able to find some settings that worked with their 1440p monitors, and 4k monitors to down size properly and form a surround resolution with their 2 other 1080p monitors.

u/brutuscat2 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I've heard this is a good monitor: Asus VG278HE. It requires a dual link DVI port though, pretty much all high end cards have those except for the Fury cards.

u/monkeybannanna · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

why not keep both and buy this when it's on sale

u/homad · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm going with this. I'm excited. If I like it i might do triple, but, maybe get some slower/cheaper ones for the left/right and keep the fast one in the middle: http://www.amazon.com/VG278HE-27-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906HM6K

u/limitz · 1 pointr/buildapc

My current monitor is 1440p, but good tip:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009C3M7H0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm currently debating though on the one I add. Not sure whether to get a 27'', 1080p, 144Hz monitor:

http://www.amazon.com/VG278HE-27-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906HM6K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419058237&sr=8-1&keywords=27%27%27+144hz

Or, another of the monitor I currently have. My dilemma is between lower-resolution, high-refresh rate vs high-resolution, lower-refresh rate. My friends' rave about 144Hz (especially for gaming), but I've gotten so used to the 1440p resolution, and game only about 1-2 hours a day on average.

One monitor will likely be oriented landscape (for gaming, movies), and the other will stay in portrait most of the time (webpages, documents).

PCPP says this is the cheapest 120hz 27", and it's well over $250.

Edit: It's actually 144hz, but the search included 120hz and this was still the cheapest.

u/socokid · 1 pointr/buildapc

I love my 27" ASUS, and the 24" version is only $250 right now... cheaper than the 24" BenQ and the ASUS has better on-screen options (IMO).

u/twmac · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

http://www.amazon.com/VG278HE-27-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906HM6K

27" Still Cheaper no its not 144p, 60hz just play games on your television at that point. The only monitor your going to get currently that's 144hz and 1440 p is a rog swift monitor which is going to cost around $800. Although if better color accuracy and visuals are more important get a ips display such as the benq. If a smooth gaming experience is your goal get a 144hz, especially since your build can push frames high enough to get the added benefit.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/Monitors

I see. It said Asus VG278HE which is $372.95.

u/jdrc07 · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

I bought this guy earlier this year.

http://www.amazon.com/Series-VG278HE-27-Inch-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906HM6K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397434554&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+144hz+27+inch+monitor

I am not a rich man, but I regret nothing. I figure as long as I'm playing CS for 5 hours a day, I might as well maximize the experience.

u/gnugames · 1 pointr/gamingpc

Just realized the guy responded with the Swift haha. They do make a 27" version. VG278HE
