Hardware wise, you should basically upgrade everything in that S340 of yours except maybe that SSD and if you're not too attached to those speakers I would suggest getting something like the Audio Engine A5. Both your peripherals and screen could use an upgrade as well along with a mousepad that suits a theme/color scheme.

Functionality wise, how about you mount your headphones on the wall of your cupboard instead of your desk. You could then loop the slack in a loose circle or a figure of 8 between 2 protruding rods you'd mount nearby.

Aesthetically, your case leds are a cooler tone of white compared to the lamp which has a rather warm white color, would try to have them at a similar tone. Your color scheme is black + white + wood which is like the bread and butter for minimalistic design these days so I think something needs to be done about your mousepad which sticks out like a sore thumb, easiest fix would be to get a full black one.

After I finished building my PC, I still wanted to build but had nothing else to put into it... so I went a little buck with the peripherals.

Mouse: Cyborg R.A.T 9

I got this mouse for two reasons: it's extremely ergonomic, versatile and comfortable to use and it looks like it could probably transform into a Decepticon.

Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow 2012 Ultimate

The keyboard was actually a gift, I have really enjoyed everything about it though. Besides the glossy finish that does get really mucked up, I have no complaints.

Mousepad: Razer Goliathus Extended; Control Edition

I wanted my mouse and keyboard to both be on my mousepad so I opted for this giant ass thing. It's worked really well for me, besides collecting crumbs when I snack and game...

Speakers: Audioengine A5+ Bamboo Edition

Picked these guys up for a steal, they sounds completely phenomenal. Owning these speakers kind of pushed me into the world of high end audio, which eventually lead to me getting my DAC and my headphones.

DAC: Audioengine D1 DAC & Integrated Amplifier

Got the DAC here on Massdrop for like 40% off or something, I've found that it really rounds out the low end of the speakers and gives them more transparency overall.

Headphones: Sennheiser HD598s

I can't speak highly enough of these headphones. If you're into electro or metal, these probably aren't for you merely because of the fact that they are a very neutral sounding set of cans. The low end is definitely there, but it's not pounding and overpowering like many other headphones I've owned. I still swap over to my old HD408's for anything I want to rattle my skull with.

Headphone Stand: Cheap Knockoff of the Seivking Omega stand

Same thing, off Massdrop for a good price. It's a cheap Chinese version of a very high end stand but it has actually been really nice to keep my headphones on and compliments the speakers really well.

Headset: SteelSeries Siberia v2 Frost

Very comfortable headset, and really good surround effects on them. I could always tell where Elizabeth was in Bioshock Infinite because they have great directional sound.

I'm also running 2 of these fans on my desk to keep everything nice and cool during those hot summer days. Throw some LED accent lighting, a couple of USB hubs and some monitor mounts and you've pretty much got everything that sits on my desk.

Oh, and I almost forgot the best part! It probably gets the most use of any of my peripherals =]

Hope this helps your decision! I would certainly recommend a mechanical keyboard, you'll never go back after you've tried one out and there's many inexpensive options for them out there!

Jesus, this turned into a really long comment...

The speakers sound great, but with ~3" drivers definitely need a subwoofer. Of course I needed the matching one at that point, which added quite a bit to the cost of the setup.

Since WRS is such a small operation things took a while to come in (especially the sub) so the store we ordered from was kind enough to loan us a pair of Audio Engine A5+. They really sounded great as well without a sub and the wooden finish looked pretty nice too. But they were, you know... too "box-y" and big.

So I recently bought the standing desk (with monitor arm and the mount for my desktop), as well as a new monitor. I'd like to add a few things to this setup. Namely a headphone stand, a phone holder/stand, and some speakers.

I've settled on the speakers. I'll be getting the audioengine a5+, but can't decide if I want them in white or bamboo.

I also can't decide if I should do the phone and headphone holders in white or bamboo/wood. Any recommends here? Thanks!

I actually have these totally amazing computer speakers (Audioengine A5), the problem is, they're slowly getting destroyed by my fucking cats because my computer desk is apparently made out of catnip.

I love my AudioEngine A5+ speakers

They sound great, especially paired with a subwoofer. For that, I'm currently using a Polk PSW505
