Oops - thanks! chocolate peanut butter energy balls

And for baked oatmeal - I'd look it up - there are a bunch of different flavours you can make (I did a banana bread one and the next one is pineapple coconut). But it's pretty easy - oatmeal, eggs, milk, etc, baked for 30 minutes. Once it cools I cut into squares, wrap each square in Saran Wrap, and freeze :)

We've had this for my son since he was probably that age and he still loves it now at 17 months. It lights up and plays classical music & you can "add" or take out an instrument family in a song. He doesn't realize that yet but still loves pushing the buttons and dancing to the music.

No Beatles, but Baby Einstein makes a turtle that plays classical music and there's also the Mozart cube though I wouldn't recommend that since ours busted easily after my daughter spit-up on it.

Around 5.5mos we introduced the 2-3-4 schedule. So 2 hours after she woke up she’d go down for nap 1, then 3 hours after she woke up from nap 1 she’d have nap 2 and 4 hours after waking from nap 2 she’d go to bed. Having a bedtime routine we stick to every night is also pretty important. She knows when we head back and start it that bedtime is approaching. Honestly, a 5 month old can’t demand a show. Since he’s seen it so much he is familiar with it, and mesmerized by it so it makes sense that it would quieten him when you put it on. That many hours of screen time probably isn’t great, our tv was on a lot like background noise but she rarely paid attention to it until recently. Especially didn’t when she was 5mos, but we did other things to keep her busy and her mind stimulated. At 4mos we started practicing sitting and playing with bigger toys than what she was used to. By 5mos she had been able to sit on her own for a bit so I bought a play mat that had a few little built in toys and sensory things on it and would let her sit and play with that and her toys. We would still do tummy time too, she was already wanted to figure out crawling, so it was good practice to do several times a day. The play time helped her burn off energy in a healthy way, where she was learning new skills and practicing others. Prior to being able to sit she played under a jungle mat thing every day a few times a day. Even now at almost 15mos she plays all day if we’re at home, the tv is almost never on anymore because I noticed she was started to be too interested in that instead of other things. Maybe it’s just a matter of finding other ways to entertain and soothe your baby. That many hours of the show have to be over stimulating him, which would make it harder to sleep. Try to get on more of a routine, and the 2-3-4 is generalized...it wasn’t exact on the dot for each sleep time. He’s probably going to get cranky at first, but try to find toys that make lots of sounds and light up! One of my daughter’s faves at that age was this baby Einstein turtle it lights up, it plays music and she was learning what happens when she presses the buttons. She still pulls it out every now and then to play with. We had a lot of toys like that, musical instrument toys, soft blocks etc that she would cycle through during play time. You can pull out the show as a treat for a short time a day, my daughter loves Mickey Mouse and I let her watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse here and there while she has lunch. I would wait to reintroduce it until you have him cleared of his reliance on it to soothe though.
