I may do this at some point. For that classic GBC feel. (They should really offer the original Game Boy gray as well, with red buttons.) For now though I think I'll keep my warranty a little longer.

You could always just buy a shell and a tri-wing screwdriver and swap it out yourself. You can even get a d-pad one if you want.

This comes with the front and back shells as well as the middle piece that holds the battery, also the colors buttons. I found a similar product on AliExpress that had a back plate as well, I don’t have a link for that one tho.

these are the only ones, there are other retailers with them for slightly cheaper but theyre imported from china so it could take up to a month to get them with standard shipping.
And when I say "only ones" there is only one company making reproduction shells, they just sell them to distributors and retailers.
Thanks so much! I keep buying ~$50 IEMs, currently on Ostry KZ ZSTs but I think I'll save up and splurge for the 215s next time. That sounds great concerning durability, I usually use a little case or bag for my IEMs so hopefully if I get SE215s I wont have problems. (I know my M6 Pros first cable died in similarly you what you've described.)
Ah, I might try using a sheath/holster for my Surge then too!
Oh the JoyCon cases are like a mod? I did a short google search and found this on amazon. I'm happy to hear they're not Nintendo priced haha. I hope Animal Crossing comes out on the Switch soon, I all own on 3DS is Animal Crossing, Smash, and Detective Pikachu haha.
