BenQ GW 2780 27" IPS monitors. Choose your monitors carefully, and be mindful of what ports you have available on your video card. I chose these because they were relatively cheap, had monitor arm mount points, small bezeled, and my video card I chose (EVGA 1070 FTW edition) has three DisplayPort slots and an HDMI slot (which is what the Oculus Rift is). So I'm able to run all four at the same time. The downside is that these monitors are only 60fps, where some gaming monitors are up to 144fps now (at double and triple the cost of these). The rift is 90fps, for the record.
All in all, yes, I recommend them. I think it was a high value purchase with acceptable tradeoffs. Ultimately, monitor choices are going to cost you more than a video card, so do your research!
I encourage anyone else reading this to chime in on monitor options as well!

Literally just bought 2 of these and couldn’t be happier
I see now, thanks for explaining that since I got the wrong impression apparently that projectors are better for the eyes due to them not emitting light but reflecting it instead but according to what you say (as someone that acutally use one so I guess you know what your'e talking) projectors must have all factors right to get minimal eye strain, and so I guess I should be looking somehwere else if I want an healthier solution for displaying stuff.

Maybe it is too bright, but lowering its brightness does not really help.
I don't think the refresh rate has anything to do with my eye strain but I could be wrong and it might be partially causing it, so you reccommend higher refresh rate displays?

What do you think about Benq's Eye Care display? https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-proprietary-borderless-Brightness-GW2480/dp/B072XFFQ4K/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=BenQ%E2%80%99s%2BBrightness%2BIntelligence%2BTechnology&qid=1574090008&sr=8-1&th=1
It has brightness Intelligence Adaptive technology + low Blue light + zeroflicker technology.
Would this screen eliminate eye strain effects?

Here’s a great monitor
I don't think 144hz is necessary for you.
Heres a great budget one

I was looking for the same thing but I came across the realization that integrated speakers are pretty crap. You would be better off grabbing some cheap Logitech speakers and connecting them via Audio out.
Question for you, do you have a MacBook dock? How are you connecting?
For Xbox and other console gaming, they mostly output 60Hz so you don’t anything higher than 60.
Here is a few that I found that have speakers but they lacked in USB ports which I would rather have. That way I can just connect directly to my MacBook with one connection and not need to worry about additional cables.
BenQ Monitors are simply beautiful, they have everything you’re looking for but no USB’s, not sure if you need USB ports.
(slightly pricier) BenQ EW2770QZ 27” 2560x1440 IPS Entertainment Monitor, Ultra Slim Bezel, Eye Care, 100% sRGB/Rec709, HDMI, DP Input, Speakers , 60Hz refresh rate https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XDM6WP2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_B5z7Bb338VQ6W
Do you care about 1440 vs 1080?
If not, this has everything, IPS, speakers and USB

Regarding your monitor, it should work just fine. Those are a few other monitors I saw in my own search during the past few days that I saw that might interest you also.
Cheers
BenQ brand specializes in photo editing monitors, and make extremely sturdy bases, also stands are changeable but there are these if you don’t want to change the stand

my suggestions:
I own PX329. very good monitor for the money and features, IMO.
Would recommend these. They're good quality, durable, quiet, very decent airflow, decent price.

If you can spend a bit more, go for the sleeved version (even more quiet)

As for a monitor, that would come down to personal preference i guess.I would recommend a 27inch 1080p 144hz IPS slim brezel/frameless monitor. You'll be able to play everything in ultra settings.Personally, i don't see that much of a difference between resolutions 1080p vs. 1440p, but FPS refresh rateis very noticeable between 60hz and 144hz. Obviously.
I'd recommend https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KXHTRT5/ref=dp_cr_wdg_tit_nw_mr
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-VG271-Pbmiipx-Technology-DisplayHDR400/dp/B07MDXF81K/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=1080p+144hz+IPS+27+freesync&qid=1557326320&s=electronics&sr=1-9
The IPS panel is so so worth it, can pull long gaming sessions without any issues and eye straining at all.
I have a BenQ GW2780 IPS 1080p 75hz monitor, since i have no need for much higher FPS. But even with this monitor, games like pubg are a blast.
Hey! Your summary of panel differences is fairly accurate, here are two suggestions.

IPS panels are great for gaming and movies, but suffer from poor black-levels, and IPS glow/backlight bleed can annoy some people.
I tried to find two that were closer to the lower end of your budget.
This BenQ seems to fit the bill. I've never used BenQ before but it has a sexy bezel and it's 1080p 75hz IPS 27". There's also a 24" option
Ok cool, the VIVO stand should do it i guess.
For the monitors, im thinking the AW3418DW as primary and on top the BenQ GW2780 where the thicker bottom bezel is behind the Alienware?!
