Got both decks and Americana is just easier and faster to use for initiative. It also shuffles better. 1864 one works fine for duels and all the poker-ish stuff like gambling/hexes.

edit: and one more thing - 1864 doesn't have jokers so you'll be forced to use the extra ace of spades or historical inserts.
