I also bought more of the magnesium supplement I've been on for a couple of months. I take Mg Aspartate because the guy at the health food store said that would have the least effect on my bowels. I take one pill in the morning and 1 before bed.

What about asparate? I take this one specifically:

The salt and the nu salt is a no brainer, like most I just add it to my foods. The magnesium, however, is a bit harder. The more I read up on it the more I realize there are multiple forms it came in. My first bottle (still using it, I'm frugal... what can I say?) is NatureMade Magnesium 250mg. In the small print on the back it says its magnesium oxide. When I read up on that, it turns out the magnesium oxide is one of the most abundant you can buy because its so cheap. However, (and I'm paraphrasing and therefore any mistakes are mine and mine alone) it turns out that our bodies have a hard time breaking this type down and we only really get about 40mg(?) of the 250mg. However, another variation (and there are a few good variations) is Magnesium Aspartate (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BCYRRE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=9AZARRFU11IA&coliid=I38KDKBN14ACNX) from Amazon. Easier for your body to break down.

Good luck on your journey... and stay strong!

EDIT: I also want to say that when taking magnesium, go slow. Figure out what dose is best for your body. If I said this once, I've said this a gazillion times... everybody is different, so how much magnesium added to their diet will be different. And jumping in too fast with a lot of magnesium can possibly lead to some side effects... Nothing dire, but butt pee is something some have complained about. So start smaller and keep track of how your body reacts. And go from there.
