I was not very happy with it. I also have a couple different 5 minute epoxy's from other projects that I used for the coffee grounds and other items that I could handle quick enough. The slow cure above was heat sensitive, I had to wait 48 hours for a full cure and even then I had to be careful on the sanding belt.
If I could do something different it would be the staging of my setup. It's really difficult to work in low light conditions and contour a handle properly. Where I currently live I can't have a hobby/work bench large enough to facilitate a project of this size. Constantly needing to go outside to drill a brass sheet and then back in to file was very time consuming, even when I would batch 5-10 pieces at a time. The bolster and filler material on the fishing knife took around 5-6 hours of drilling and filing. This time could probably be reduced to 2 hours with a proper setup.
Other than that everything went according to plan. I like to do my homework before I start anything so I had a pretty good grasp on some issue that could go wrong.
In the future if I do a similar project with stabilized wood I would like to purchase the equipment necessary to do it myself. Every project is an opportunity to expand your knowledge and skill set as well as your tools and resources.
Nail polish is a very poor adhesive in my experience. I would recommend using a clear epoxy like this instead. Unfortunately, acetone is going to damage an acrylic shell, so I don't know how you can easily remove the nail polish. It's going to flake out over time, so perhaps you can pick it out at that point with a dental tool.
I ordered 2 packages of this from Amazon. Works well. I bet other places have it online as well. https://www.amazon.com/Bob-Smith-206-Slow-Cure-Epoxy/dp/B001NI8MNK/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=epoxy+bob+smith&qid=1563722419&s=gateway&sr=8-4
