This is a double walled glass mug like this one.
That residue is just from tea, it's totally safe and clean, just stained. If I wanted to get rid of it, I'd have to use some muriatic acid. I like it, though, it gives it character.
Because I don't add sugar to my tea, I just keep re-using it, so it doesn't need to be washed, that would keep it clear but not cleaner. I feel like I have to defend myself here. IT'S CLEAN ENOUGH, IT ISN'T GROSS. I mean, I pour boiling water into it a few times every day.
They're not cheap - you can get a set of two from Amazon for $25, or I got mine at Crate & Barrel for $10. But I highly recommend them - they're functional, and so gorgeous. There are other sizes, but I find the 12oz is just right for tea - you can search around for "pavina" to check out the others. I love them, but while they're not as delicate as they look, they're also not a hardy mug, so be careful with them!
