I wash my wife's hair with one of these "Bottle Blasters" on a 500ml Fiji water bottle that I warm up in our microwave with the original cap on.
She lays on her back on the bed with her head hanging over a bin in my lap while I sit on a 5gal bucket stool. I would suggest laying down a large trash bag then a towel to protect the bed with an appropriate tray on that for you. Use minimal water to lather and minimal soap. Water comes out in small squirts and I find that 500ml is plenty to rinse her hair and at the end the bin has less than 1/4" of gray water in it to dispose of. We also use the blasters to shower in the van here
Both the cake and the syrup should be completely cooled. I make the syrup, let it cool, then put it into a water bottle with one of these on it so it showers, but you could easily make your own with just a nail to make little holes in the lid.
